Chapter 33: Bhavana
Pranu, clumsy her, fell into this sand-pit thing. I was considering crawling over there and hauling her out when a heartbeat later, she arose from it, wrapped in a light yellow aura. Her eyes glowed green. Not like the emerald green of the Delphi, but a sickly yellow-green, the color of a person's face when they just ate something that disagreed with them.
"Pranu..." I began, but she gave me a piercing look that silenced me. Literally. I struggled against the invisible hand that was covering my mouth.
Carina crawled up from behind me. "Hey, Pranu! What's taking you so long?" she whispered.
"SILENCE!" Pranu hissed in a voice that sounded like an eerie chorus. "You will be silent!"
Silence fell.
"You all shall die..." Pranu rasped.
"Wait... what?" Carina sounded confused.
"You all have betrayed me, and so I deserve revenge... and POWER." Pranu sneered.
"Then you'll have to catch us first" I simply stated and ran... ran for my life.
I turned around. I shouldn't have. Carina wasn't far behind. The thing that frightened me most, was Pranu's face... It glowed an eerie yellow. I accidentally stared into her eyes, which were now a deep blood red. I almost forgot how to breathe.
"Wait a second, Bhavana..." Eshana started.
"What?!" I shouted back. "Too busy to answer! I'm running for my life here!"
"I can see that." Carina trotted up to me.
"Pranu! What's gotten into you?" Alex shouted.
"Alex! Run!" I called back to her.
She folded her hands. "I'm not moving. Why're you all running away?"
"Can't you see the glowing eyes..." Realization struck me. Alex couldn't see Pranu's lovely bloodred eyes. Pranu probably seemed absolutely normal to her. Exactly why... she was Pranu's prey.
"NO ALEX! Trust me! Run! Please!" I stopped to shout back at her.
"Huh? Why?" Alex asked.
"Trust me!" I screamed.
Alex glanced one last time at Pranu... but stared wide eyed as Pranu tackled her...
