Chapter 36: Caiyi
Shadow Vortex? What the heck is a Shadow Vortex? It sounded like something out of a movie.
I didn't realize it, but I was flying in circles. I felt like everything was swirling... down, down, down. When I hit the ground, I lay there, crumpled, as if i was some rumpled little doll tossed onto the floor.
The scientists... they want something I don't even have! Something I have no clue as to what the heck it is...
What should I do? What was there to do? Where were my friends? I felt useless. My friends needed me and I could do nothing.
I didn't even know where to go. Perhaps I can go back to camp... but that's not the best I can do. Then it hit me. I should go to the place with the message in the dirt.
But camp was safer...
No. I shook my head firmly and squared my jaw. There was no going back now. The quest had already started. I would look for them. I would search the entire world for my friends.
With that, I took off. I landed near the clearing. Quickly, I searched the ground for any clues. My glance swept across something bright. A slip of paper fluttered in the wind like a butterfly, it was caught on a tree branch. I grabbed it. Some pieces were torn away or stained with dirt.
It read:

Only parts were readable. I could only guess. Cou-il? Council? Council of... twelve? Servi-s U-a-lable? Services... un... available?
One thing popped up more than the others. As-nm-t L-ca-on. Assignment Location. The location... Kinbasket Lake? Of where? Where in the world do they put family members into a basket and ship it to a lake?
A smile slowly spread across my face. Of course. Where else?
