(n.) beautiful thinking; a well mind
Him
He never gave a second thought to a ridiculous, abstract concept such as hope - in fact, he believed himself to be impervious to it. And having held a natural disdain to it made matters in life quite simple – and peaceful, he'd like to say. To bet life's whims on a belief – no – a feeling, is person who foolishly threw caution and logic to the wind and decided to walk through life with nothing but blindfold on.
It was her – pause – she, in every sense, should be his enemy. But all the makings of a villain vanished when he looked at her. The sun could dip and rise from the ocean lining countless times and she'll still be there. The last iridescent ray of light of the day or the first peak of sunlight after nightfall, she burned an eternal flame in his heart simply because she loved him.
Her
She read too many books in her life, well enough to know that a hero and villain is just one of many character traits that encompasses a well-written character. But sadly, it becomes their defining feature, and the rest of who they are overlooked and blurred.
She never came across someone as intricate and complex as him. He seemed almost lazy, the ease he carries to define himself as an enemy. Be her enemy with breathtaking kindness. Be her enemy with unwavering patience. Be her enemy and take her pain. She wanted him to surrender in his fight that denied him of the good he rightfully deserved. She wanted to love him; a boy lost to his guilt yet never once daring to back down on his promise to protect others.
Note: Welcome readers to the rewritten story about Alaura and Edmund! Sincere apologies for the wait. To be truthful, there were many drafts of how I planned for the rewritten version to go and nothing seemed to just work. So, I threw all the intricate planning away and decided that the original was the way to go.
This here is just a prologue, I guess you can say. I will be diverting from the backstories I've written in the original, I just saw they didn't make sense and trashed them.
There is no planned updating schedule. This is just how I work. But I am insane enough to want to follow through finishing this story once and for all.
To readers and reviewers alike, this story is just for fun. I realized I lost the joy of writing when I become too much of a perfectionist on everything. To grammar lovers, I don't care and if that takes away from your enjoyment then I'm sorry. I plead that you do not take away the joy of reading for others.
Until next time!
