"Seriously, Alice; I really am not so sure about this guy…" I said, making a face at myself all dolled up in the mirror. I was fit in a knee length knit dress, long-sleeved, tight-fitting and showing off my curves, in a light blue that makes my eyes pop.

"No really! I think you'll really like him. You guys are actually very similar, and I've been working with him for years. I think you guys will hit it off quite a bit." She grinned impishly at me.

"Shit. If I wasn't already ready and hot as hell like I am right now, I would totally bail. What's this guy's name anyway?"

"Edward." She grinned, happy she manipulated me into going on this date. "He has like bronze hair and he's really handsome. I swear if I had met him five years ago, before I met Jasper, I swear I would fuck the hell out of that man."

"Jesus fine! You didn't need to be so graphic about it Alice. I'll go, I'll go. Can you give me the address to the restaurant?"

"It's down the street Bella. You can find your way; Shakesbeer is the name."

"Ohh," I groaned, "I thought you said restaurant, Alice! I don't want to be dressed like this to go to a cheap bar."

"Pfft, you're fine Bella. It's actually a nice place, and it's halfway between a bar and a restaurant."

I walked into the restaurant and god; she should have told me how big it was. Half of it was a bar full of a few stragglers, on the right-hand side there are a bunch of short dimly lit booths and a few small tables. She said this guy had bronze hair and I barely knew what the fuck that meant. I was not a fashion designer like Alice, who could differentiate the color lavender from lilac. I looked around and I saw guy at the table with brown hair. I didn't know what Alice meant because bronze hair and fucking handsome is not a great definition of a person, but he was sitting alone at a two-person table looking a little lost.

"Are you… Edward?"

He looked up at me with a look of pure confusion, but after a deliberate elevator scan of me, he quickly regained his confidence and nearly shouted,

"Yes! Yes, Edward that's me." His voice was not deep, but not high-pitched either. I simply had that inflection of the guy walking behind you on the sidewalk, unsettling for no specific reason.I understood eye-fucking pretty well, but this guy was simply ogling me, and not in a flattering way.

"I'm sorry, I am totally blanking on your name. Would you like to sit down…" he said, gesturing to the chair next to him, waiting for me to say my name.

I was astounded honestly. A friend of Alice's didn't remember the name of the person they were blind dating? That's ridiculous even someone who didn't have a insane friend like Alice would remember a stranger's name, because that's one of the only aspects of their personality that they would know before going on the date. Not to mention that he moved the chair to sit awkwardly close to him, instead of across the table.

"Um, Bella is my name."

"Ah yes Bella how could I forget that beautiful name." It took me immense effort to hold in the eye roll.

Resigned now, I straightened out my dress as I sat down preparing for a painful next hour.

"So, Alice says you guys have been working together for a while now?" I asked, not unaware of his creepy body language only a few inches from me.

"Yeah we have for awhile now but I'm glad she finally connected both of us. I have a feeling that my night wouldn't be complete without you." I rolled my eyes a second time in my head, dismissing the presumptuous tone of his voice."

A waitress walked by and she looked around 17, which confused me quite a bit because I thought this restaurant was a bar. Nonetheless she asked us if we wanted to get new drinks. I looked over at Edward and instead of seeing him looking at the drinks menu, he was scanning this girl up and down like she was an auction prize he was debating bidding for. He then pointedly looked me in the eyes as if he was bragging and said

"I'll have an old fashioned thank you, and Bella will have a red wine."

I was not aware that we were LARPing as people from the fucking Stone Age, because Oh my God I was surprised. I hadn't had a guy order for me since… no I never have; Even with the shitty guys I dated in college.

I raised my eyebrows, already done with this interaction, and said,

"Um Hell no," I said, chuckling in disbelief. "From what I've gathered about your personality, I'll definitely need a gin and tonic with extra gin, thank you."

As the server walked away and after Edward pointedly stared at her ass as she left, he then looked over to me and said,

"Jesus, I was just trying to be a gentleman."

"By choosing my drink for me? Um yeah, no."

He picked up the menu and muttered under his breath a quick, "bitch." Now I was fed up.

"Excuse me? What did you just call me?"

"Get over it already, OK?" he said, his hand placed on my upper leg, an attempt at a seductive expression on his face.

"You know what, I don't know what the fuck Alice was thinking by setting me

up with your ass."

"God, in that slutty dress I would have figured you would be easy." He said, frustrated.

That did it. I pushed my chair away from the table loudly and stood up, already feeling self-conscious about my dress.

"Have a nice night, Edward. Maybe you'll get lucky, and the 15-year-old waitress will fuck you after you've been staring her up all night."

I was about to walk through the door when he passed me and walked through the doors muttering something about a strip club. I was completely flabbergasted. There was no fucking way I would let this guy ruin my night.
