A/N: Hey lovelies! I've been pretty excited to write for you guys. I'm sorry it took so long, I had to go to school on a Saturday to make up all the math work I was missing and I spent Friday evening with my best friend to go see the Christmas lights. My ankle is still really sore too, ugh. I only have four days of school this week and then I'm out for Christmas break, yay! I'm currently sitting outside on my porch while I'm writing this because it's warmer out here than in my house... Thank you guys so much for all the reviews, I love each and every one of them! I also love each and every one of you! Anyway, here is the new chapter and I hope you enjoy it. Leave me some love and reviews to get me through the week please!(:
Tobias' POV
We all got the perfect rings for our girlfriends yesterday. I got Tris a simple ring because I know she likes things simple. It's a silver band that twists in the front to form a small heart. We plan on giving them the rings today around sunset and I'm really excited but a bit nervous. The plan is I'm going to convince them to come into the living room where the karaoke machine is while Uriah, Zeke, and Will are already on the stage with everything set up. Once I get them situated, I'm going to jump up on the stage and we're going to sing 'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction to make them laugh but still mean something. After that, we're going to take them all out by the lake and give the rings to them however each of us decides to do it. There's also one last piece of the surprise (I'm not telling you guys what it is yet, haha). I think the whole thing is going to turn out pretty great.
Currently, I'm sitting in Uriah's room with Zeke and Will. We were going over the plan to make sure everyone knew their jobs and now we're just waiting for the perfect time to execute the plan. The girls have been pretty suspicious of us today and we won't give them any hints as to what is going on.
"Let's go now," Uriah says.
"Yeah, I think they're in the kitchen," Will agrees.
"Okay, you guys go. I'm going to wait a few seconds before I go get them," I tell them. They all nod in confirmation. Zeke opens the door and makes a show of tiptoeing down the hallway. Uriah and Will follow behind him, shaking their heads and I stifle a laugh.
I wait for about 45 seconds and then I walk out the bedroom. I make my way towards the kitchen. When I reach the doorway of the kitchen, I see Tris, Shauna, Christina, and Marlene sitting around the table, seeming deep in conversation.
"Hey," I say, interrupting whatever conversation they had going. They all turn around to look at me.
"Yes?" Tris asks.
"You guys should come in the living room for a few minutes," I say, trying to sound innocent.
"Why?" Shauna asks slowly, sounding suspicious.
I shrug, "You should come if you want to find out."
"I'll go," Marlene says, standing up. I smile at her and do a thumbs up.
"Ugh, fine," Christina says.
They all get up from their spots at the table and follow me out of the room. As soon as we turn the corner, the living room and all it holds comes into sight. Zeke, Uriah, and Will are already on the stage, striking strange random poses like they're male models or something. I hear the girls laugh.
"This way, please have a seat right here ladies," I instruct, pointing at the couch in front of the stage. I notice Tris roll her eyes and smile, but they all do as they're told. I jump up onto the stage to join the other guys. I grab a microphone and stand near the center of the stage with Zeke to my right, and Uriah and Will to my left.
Tris, Marlene, Christina, and Shauna stare at us with confused expressions. The music begins to play and I see smiles start to form on their faces. Zeke, Uriah, Will, and I sing the entire song together.
You're insecure, don't know what for. You're turning heads when you walk through the door-or-or.
Don't need makeup to cover up. The way that you are is enough.
Everyone else in the room can see it, everyone else but you.
Baby, you light up my world like nobody else.
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed.
But when you smile at the ground, it ain't hard to tell.
You don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful.
If only you saw what I could see, you'd understand why I want you so desperately.
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe,
You don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful.
But that's what makes you beautiful.
So c-come on, you got it wrong.
To prove I'm right, I put it in a so-o-ong.
I don't know why you're being shy.
And turn away when I look into your eyes.
Everyone else in the room can see it, everyone else but you.
Baby, you light up my world like nobody else.
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed.
But when you smile at the ground, it ain't hard to tell.
You don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful.
If only you saw what I could I see, you'd understand why I want you so desperately.
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe,
You don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful.
But that's what makes you beautiful.
We cut the song off there and I scan over the girls to see them trying not to burst into fits of laughter. They begin to clap and Tris stands up and whistles. We all bow and jump off the stage.
I walk up to Tris and pull her into a hug. She laughs into my shirt but hugs back. I turn back to everyone else and look at Uriah for a cue to begin the next phase of this plan. He looks back at me and nods slightly, so much that you would only notice it if you were looking for it.
"So, I hope you enjoyed that. You should follow us out to the lake now if you want the rest of this surprise," Zeke says.
I grab a hold of Tris' hand and pull her out the front door, towards the lake. The sun is beginning to set behind the lake, creating a really nice view which aids in making this more romantic. I drag Tris to the edge of the lake where we have a perfect view of the sunset. While Tris watches the sunset, I pull the ring out of my pocket with my free hand. I pull my other hand out of Tris' grasp and she looks over at me curiously. When she does, I get down on one knee and her eyes get bigger than I ever thought possible. I hold the ring up so she can see it and her hands fly to her mouth.
"This is no wedding ring, obviously. We're too young to be getting married. This is a promise ring. I promise to love you forever, and I promise that we will get married one day," I say, staring up at Tris and gauging her reaction.
I notice her eyes begin to water and after a few seconds, she takes her hands away from her mouth to show me that she's smiling. I smile too and stand back up. I take her hand place the ring on her finger. She holds her hand out in front of her, examining the ring and how it looks on her finger. Then, she throws herself at me, casting her arms around my neck and hugging me tightly. I hug her back for a few minutes, so incredibly happy with the way my life is right now. I take the time to think about how truly perfect this moment is.
We break apart when Uriah speaks up, "Okay, there's one last part of this surprise."
