Chapter 14
"You have to tell her" James whispered to himself as he headed down to breakfast with Alice the next morning "You have to tell her today. Before it's too late."
"You have to tell who what Lily?" Alice asked nudging her friend lightly.
"Oh nothing I just have to talk to James." James said shaking slightly.
"But you said you have to tell her today, before it's too late? Tell who? And before what is too late."
"It's nothing Alice!" James snapped walking slightly faster to avoid further questions.
"Ok Lily. No need to snap." Alice said looking slightly hurt.
"Sorry Alice I just really need to talk to James."
"Yeah what is going on between you and James at the moment?" Alice asked grabbing James hand and trying to get him to face her. "Are you two together?" Alice giggled eyes wide.
"No Alice," sighed James looking a little disappointed how he wished that there was something romantic between "We are not together… were just friends."
"Pity, I think you two make a good couple."
As the girls entered the great hall they spotted 'James', Sirius and Peter talking companionable. Remus however looked dreadful is skin was a sickly grey and his eyes were hard and dark. He did not look at all like his usual self.
"Are you ok Remus?" James asked, he knew of course that Remus was in no way fine it was the week before full moon. Remus took a moment to respond.
"I'm fine Lily." Remus said forcing a weak smile.
Lily looked worried what was wrong with Remus he looked like he had been hit by a bus.
"James Lily needs to talk to you its really important." Alice tittered nudging James.
"Ok?" Lily said, slight confusion in her voice.
"Go get her Prongs!" Sirius jeered throwing Lily a wink.
James led Lily out of the great hall and along the corridor into a deserted history of magic classroom.
"Lily I have to tell you something…" James began, before he realised he didn't know where to begin.
"Yes James?" Lily asked lightly seeing that James was obviously going to tell her something which was hard for him to say.
"Sit down Lily." James said trying to compose himself. Lily's stomach filled with butterflies, what was James going to tell her? Was he going to ask her out again? What would she say? Would she say yes? She had been seeing James in a different light since they had swapped bodies.
"It's about Remus," said James trying to steady his shaking hand.
Well there goes that theory Lily thought, what could be so important about Remus that James would be this agitated.
"Well first of all I better tell you that Sirius…"
"Is a giant black dog!" Lily yelled "Yeah I know! Thanks for telling me!"
