Tobias' POV

It's Christmas time. It's strange for me, being in the Prior house with all of them during this holiday. All my life, it's only ever been my dad and I and he never got me anything for Christmas. We were never even close to being a true family like the Priors. And for some reason, they've let become a part of their family. I'm not used to being wanted, loved, and cherished but it's a good feeling. A feeling that I hope to have for the rest of my life.

Of course, Tris and I have spoken about having kids one day, which implies marriage. Most guys would go running for the hills over talks like these, but not me. Marrying Tris and having a family with her is something I dream of doing one day. I can only hope that she feels the same about me.

Specifically, it's Christmas Eve and I'm out with Uriah, Zeke, and Will, doing last minute shopping for our girlfriends. We all figured we could help each other.

"What do chicks even like for Christmas?" Uriah asks.

Will shrugs, "Clothes? Perfume? Who knows?"

I snort, "We're pathetic."

Zeke laughs, "Just a bit."

As we walk down the sidewalk passing several small stores, I spot a jewelry store at the corner. "What about jewelry?" I suggest.

They all shrug and we amble our way into the jewelry store. We split up to look around and I head towards a glass case on the far wall.

A young brunette employee makes her way towards me, "Need any help?"

"I'm trying to find a Christmas present for my girlfriend…" I mumble.

"Hmm…" She begins. "I think I know just what you can get…" She finishes with a warm smile.

Tris' POV

I sit on my couch with Christina, Marlene, and Shauna. Mom and Caleb are home for the holiday which I could not be more ecstatic for. They're out doing some last minute shopping while I hang out with my friends. All the guys said they had something they needed to do and left us girls alone.

"What do you think they went to do?" Marlene asks.

"Knowing guys, probably trying to find gifts at the last possible minute," Christina inputs.

I laugh, knowing she's probably right.

"What do you think they're getting us?" Shauna inquires.

"They're dudes. I just hope it's not a football or something. What on earth would I do with that?" Christina says with thinly veiled disgust.

"I don't know… Maybe play football?" I mutter sarcastically with a huge smirk. She throws a chip at me and we all laugh.

Just then, Mom and Caleb walk in the front door and place some stuff under the tree. They must had the stuff wrapped at the store.

My mom turns towards us, "Since I know you're all going to want to spend Christmas with your families, we're going to have our Christmas early with all of you, and your boyfriends of course. All of you are just as much a part of this family. Where are the boys anyway?"

Marlene smiles, "I like the sound of that. And the guys just said something they had to do. They should be back any minute."

As she utters the last word, the door bangs open and the guys trickle in, holding presents.

I turn towards them from my spot on the couch. "We're doing our Christmas early, right now, and all of you are a part of it. So sit down and gather 'round," I say with a loving smile.

They shove the presents near the tree and take seats around the room. Tobias sits next to me on the couch and my mom sits on my other side. Caleb sits beside her. Uriah and Marlene occupy the chair while Christina, Will, Zeke, and Shauna all decided to take the floor.

Presents are passed around and opened, hugs are given. There is a ton of laughter and thank you's.

Everyone saves the present for their significant other for last. I give Tobias his present which sits in a huge box. He holds it in his lap warily.

"Tris, what the heck is this thing? It must be pretty big," Tobias says.

I smile, "Just open it."

He rips the paper off and reads the labels on the side of the box. He turns to me, radiating disbelief, "No way! Tris, you got me a freaking Xbox 360!?"

I laugh and nod, "I remember you said that you never had a game console before and that you've always wanted one. So here you go."

He puts the box on the floor in front of him and drags me into his arms, hugging me fiercely, "You're the best. Without you, my life would mean nothing. Thank you, Trissy. I love you."

He plants a sweet kiss on my cheek before reaching down and picking up a small but long rectangular box. He puts it in my lap and I stare down at it.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Open it," Tobias says with a shy smile.

I unwrap the paper and throw it on the floor with the other mess. I slowly open the box to see a bracelet with several charms. There's a charm of a Ferris wheel, a paintball gun, a microphone, a Ferrari, a cabin. I look up at him in complete awe.

"Let me explain them. The Ferris wheel, I'm scared of heights but you distracted me and made me forget. It was also our first real date. The paintball gun because playing paintball with you and all of our friends is one of my favorite memories. The microphone for all of the karaoke but also mainly for the talent show last year… When I first told you that I loved you. The Ferrari because our first kiss was in the school parking lot against your car," He says that one with a wicked grin before he continues. "And the cabin because that was one hell of a summer. And I gave you that promise ring. I promised to love you forever and I promised that one day, I would put a wedding ring on your finger. I will never go back on those promises."

By now, he has a sweet, shy smile on his face and I have tears streaming down my cheeks. I lean up and give him a tender, loving kiss. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Tobias Eaton," I whisper.

"Who wants to go out and eat dinner? My treat, of course," My mother exclaims. Everyone bursts out into excited agreement.

"Get your coat, Bitsy," My mom says, smirking at me.

"Mom, stop with that god awful nickname," I say exasperated, but with no real conviction. It's her way of telling me she loves me, even if it is odd. I roll my eyes and grab my coat, slinging it on.

"Mom, can I invite someone to dinner with us?" Caleb asks nervously.

"Of course. Who is it?" Mom inquires.

"Just a girl that I've kind of been dating…" He mumbles.

"What!" I screech. "Caleb, why haven't I heard about this?" I demand, placing my hands on my hips to give off the full sassy effect.

"It's Susan…" He mutters.

"Wait. Susan, like childhood friend, Susan?" I question.

He nods, "She goes to my school and her family moved here recently…"

My mom smiles warmly at him, "Invite her then."

I grab Tobias' hand and lean up towards him, pressing my lips to his with a contented smile. We all head out the door, laughing and acting like one big happy family, which is basically what we are. I smile. All of these people are my family, and I'm beyond thankful for all of them. My future is with these people.

A/N: I hope you guys liked this chapter! And because of my super late update, here's a sneak peek of the book I'm writing…(; I'm trusting you guys not to steal my idea and write a book out of it before I do! But tell me what you think!

It is the day before my sixteenth birthday.
In the very little history we are taught in school, I've learned that sixteenth birthdays have always been significant for people but in this world in which I live, sixteenth birthdays lead us to the rest of our lives.
Everyone is born with a special gem built into the base of their throat. The purpose of this gem is to help people do what they were supposedly born to do, and that is to find their soul mate.
These gems are somehow activated when a person turns sixteen. From that day forth, it is meant to lead them in the direction of their soul mate, because we are taught that our main purpose in life is to find this person that we are meant to be with.
Since I was old enough to think, I've been waiting for my sixteenth birthday, the day when my gem would activate and lure me to this so-called soul mate who could in fact, be a psycho or a murderer, or worst of all, an utterly attractive male, attractive to the point where my limbs turn to jello and the air fails to escape the chambers of my lungs.

There's your sneak peek! What do you think!? Let me know!
