Chapter 8:
A/N: It's summer time, and I have nothing to do while I watch my idiotic brothers. All they do is watch tv or play the playstation. My best friend is currently at camp, so I can't meet up with her either. So all I am left with is wasting the day away in my room either reading fanfiction, reading my summer reading books, and watching youtube videos. Oh, how my life is exciting! Ever since TheRavenclawGem asked me to not abandon this story, I am trying to write a lot now, before I have to go back to the craziness of high school. I am now going to be a sophomore. This going to be a long chapter. :)

Chapter 8: The First Day of Classes
When Harry woke up the next morning, the first thing that went through his mind was Where the heck am I? Then the memories of last night flooded through his head and he remembered that he was in his dorm room, off of the Gryffindor common room in Hogwarts. He was super excited. Then he remembered that classes started today. His excitement went down a bit, but was still considerably high due to the fact that they were magical classes. He looked at his clock, and saw that it was 8:15. He saw that Seamus and Dean had already left for breakfast.
"Ron, Neville, and Teddy! Get up!" Harry yelled at the three sleeping boys. Teddy woke up and wet to the bathroom to get ready. "If you guys don't get up now, you will miss breakfast!" That woke Ron and Neville up. They both jumped up and ran to the bathroom, and when the door wouldn't open, they started to pound on the door. Harry stood by the dorm door and said to them, "I'm going to be down in the common room waiting for you three to come down. Then we can go to breakfast." With that, he left and went to the common room and sat down in front of the fire. A minute later, Hermione joined him.
"Hey Harry." She said.
"Hey Hermione." He said to her. "Are you ready for classes today?"
"Of course I am." She said. "I have already read all of the textbooks over the summer."
"Why would you do that?" Harry asked, "Why would you do unnecessary work over the summer?"
"Because I wanted to get ahead on my studies." Hermione replied, as if it was the most logical thing to do.
"Ok," Harry replied, bewildered. A minute later, Teddy came down, and he and Hermione started to talk about classes. Harry just sat, and waited for Neville and Ron to come down. He could hear them before he could see them, as Ron just clomped down the stairs. Harry stood up, as did Teddy, and Hermione looked bewildered. She understood when Ron and Neville came into the common room. "It's about time! I'm starving!"
The group went out the portrait hole, and headed down the hallways to the Great Hall. As they sat down, Harry and Ron started to shove food in their mouths, Neville started to pile food on his plate, and Hermione and Teddy both poured a bowl of cereal. Professor McGonagall came around and handed out the schedules. They all had the same classes together. Then they heard a noise up above, and saw the post come in.
Owls of all sorts flew around, looking for their owners. Harry spotted Hedwig among the many. Hedwig flew down and landed in front of Harry, with a package attached to it's feet. Harry took it off and read the letter that was on the package.
Dear Harry,
Congratulations on becoming a Gryffindor! We are so proud of you. We're glad that Teddy was able to find you guys, Dora had a hard time letting go of Teddy when it was time to go.
I'm glad that you made a new friend, and we can't wait to meet her. She sounds like she will be a good influence on you too. Please keep up with your studies.
Don't forget to send Severus our love. Be good in his class, Harry.
In the package is a gift from you father. Keep it safe, as it is very lucky.

Mum and Dad
Harry placed the letter aside, and opened the package. Inside was a red and gold Gryffindor scarf with the name Potter on each end. It was his dad's lucky scarf. He was just looking at it for awhile, and didn't notice the group staring at him.
"What is that Harry?" Hermione asked.
"It's my dad's lucky scarf." He replied. "They sent it to me today"
"Cool!" Ron said.
"We better get going to our first class, otherwise we will be late." Hermione said, getting up. The others followed suit. Their first class was potions, with Professor Severus Snape.
The group walked down to the dungeons together. They walked into the stuffy room, and took a seat in the front row by Severus' desk. When said professor came in, the class looked at him and instantly fell silent. Harry, Ron, and Teddy smirked at the scared expressions of their classmates. When they saw Neville looking just as scared as the other students, they almost bursted out laughing. Snape walked to the front of the room and looked at his class. When his eyes saw Harry, Ron, and Teddy shaking and their faces contorted, he stopped.
"Is there something funny that you would like to share with the rest of the class, Misters Potter, Weasley, and Lupin?" He asked.
Teddy was the first to regain his composure and spoke first. "We were trying not to laugh because all of the students all looked like they are terrified of you. As if you were about to kill them all."
Snape looked at the rest of the class and saw it to be true. The students did look very terrified. A satisfied smirk appeared on his face. "Very well. Please do try not to disturb the class again."
"Yes Professor." The three boys replied. The rest of the class went on and Snape just told them about what potions really was, and went over the curriculum for the year. He assigned them a parchment on the art of potions. After class was over, Harry turned to the rest of the group.
"Meet me outside the classroom. I'll be right there." The other nodded and went outside. Harry went up to Snape's desk. He looked up from what he was doing and noticed Harry standing there.
"What do you need Harry?" Snape asked.
"Mum told me to send you her love," Harry said uncomfortably.
"How is your parents doing? I haven't seen them in awhile, not since before your birthday." He asked.
"They are doing well. Mum nearly had a heart attack at dad's last Quidditch match when he nearly fell off of his broom when he was hit in the head by a bludger." Harry said.
"Is he ok?" Severus asked
"Oh yeah, the healers had fixed him up easily after the game." He replied.
"That's good." he said. then there was silence.
"Well," Harry started, "I had better get to class" he stood up and went to leave the room.
"Oh, and Harry," Severus said after him. He stopped and turned.
"Yes?"
"Do make sure you do your homework. I'm sure that you have your mother's talent for potions." Severus finished
"Don't worry Severus. I have Hermione and Teddy to bug me about my homework." Harry said easily. "Besides, I'm sure that my mum will have my head if I neglect to do my work" Severus chuckled.
"I wouldn't expect any less from Liy." He said shaking his head. "Have a good rest of the day, Harry."
"You too, Severus." With that, Harry left the room, and the others followed behind him.
"Do you guys know Professor Snape?" Hermione asked once they were out the dungeons.
"Yeah. Before my mum went to Hogwarts, she's a muggle born by the way, she meet Severus Snape. He saw her use magic. He told her all about the magical world. They were best friends. They continued to be best of friends during Hogwarts, despite her being Gryffindor, and him being Slytherin. Severus and my dad always fought in the halls. Severus and My mum hated my dad and his friends." He stopped and took a breath. They had a free period right now, so they were just wandering the corridors. "My dad played a ton of pranks on a lot of people, especially Severus and my mum. He pranked mum so much because he was in love with her, but she absolutely hated him. My dad pranked Severus because my dad was jealous that he was so close to mum. Severus also loved her, but she only liked him as a friend. Eventually, Teddy's dad, Remus, told him that if he wanted Lily, my mum, he needed to stop pranking them so much, and not be so arrogant. He did that, and was Head Boy in seventh year with my mum, and she realised how amazing he was, and they went out and eventually got married. My mum was still friends with Severus, so she made them be kind to each other, and now they are some what friends. Severus attends a lot of events with us." He finished.
"Wow, that is an amazing story." Hermione said.
"Speaking of my dad's past prank life, I think that we should be the next generation of Marauders!" Harry said excitedly.
"The next generation of what?" Hermione asked.
"Marauders. That was what my dad and his friends were called." Harry explained. "We could prank people, just like they did. Teddy and Hermione could be the brains, like Teddy's dad, and the rest of us will come up with brilliant pranks"
"I don't know," Hermione said. However, she wasn't heard beneath the boys excitement.
"Come on Hermione, you are the smartest of us all. You don't even particularly need to participate in the pranks, just help us learn the right spells." Ron pleaded "It could help you too."
"Fine, I'm in." Hermione said, giving in. She looked at her watch while the boys whooped with joy. "Let's go." She said, turned, and started to walk down the hallway. The boys followed her and questioned where she was going. "We have charms in 10 minutes." The group chatted about pranks they could pull on their way to class. They agreed to meet in the first year boy's dorm, as they were sure that Dean and Seamus wouldn't be in there.
When they got to class, they sat in the middle rows, but the ones that were closer to the front because of Hermione and Teddy's request. Their professor was a tiny man who had a squeaky voice. He went over the curriculum, and then they started to work on the levitation charm, just going over what it does. When the bell rang, he told them that they needed to have a parchment of paper on levitation charms for homework.
"Ugh, we have two parchments of homework to do. And on the first day!" Ron complained. The rest laughed at Ron's distress and went down to lunch. As soon as he saw the food for lunch, he immediately got happy. The second they sat down, he and Harry shoved food into their mouths, the normal mealtime routine. Right after lunch, they had Transfiguration. Harry and Ron realised that they left their Transfiguration stuff in the dorm.
"We'll meet you guys in class, we left our stuff in the dorm." Harry said The two left, and rushed to the dorm. they grabbed their stuff and practically ran to the class. A couple stairways moved, and Ron nearly got stuck in a trick step on one of said staircases. Harry made a mental note to ask his dad if that had been his doing, but he was pretty certain that it was. They finally got to class, a few minutes late.
"Yes, we made it before McGonagall got here." Ron said joyfully, as they went to sit down with the others.
Right before he sat down, Harry noticed something. "No we aren't. Professor McGonagall is already here."
"What do you mean?" Hermione rest of the class looked at him confused. Harry pointed at the cat sitting on McGonagall's desk. "Harry, that's just a cat."
"No it isn't." Harry said, getting up to show them. "Look, do you guys really think that Professor McGonagall would have a cat, let alone allow it into her classroom right before a class? And look, see these markings?" He said, pointing at the dark marks around the eyes. "Those look identical to her glasses. Anyways, have you ever seen a cat sit so stiff? It's really quite obvious, Professor McGonagall is an Animagus." He concluded. the class looked confused. "Merlin. An Animagus is a person who can turn to an animal whenever they want. It's a very difficult task to do. It can take years to become one. Not many even try it, but even fewer ever even accomplish it." Harry new, because his dad, Sirius, and Peter would tell them stories of when they became animaguses, just for their best friend Remus to help him during his transformations every full moon. Once they graduated from Hogwarts, Lily forced them to become registered, so as to not risk being arrested.
When he concluded, the tabby cat jumped off the desk, and became Professor McGonagall. "Very well done, Mr. Potter. 50 points to Gryffindor for being able to not only distinguish an Animagus, but also for being able to explain it so well."
"Thank you Professor. Please excuse Ron and I for being late, we left our materials in our dorm, and got lost on our way down here." Harry explained.
"That is ok, Mr. Potter, just don't let it happen again." She said.
"Of course Professor." Harry replied, and went back to his seat. He was given a thumbs up from Teddy.
McGonagall explained what they would be learning during the year, leaving all the first years extremely excited. Harry definitely was.
"Now, as we didn't really cover anything well enough, I will give you no homework tonight." McGonagall said at the end of class.
After Transfiguration, the group of friends were done with classes for the day, so they went to the library to do their homework. Teddy and Hermione were done with both homeworks, so they helped Neville and Ron, both who were struggling. Harry had finished his potions essay in two minutes, and actually writing a little more than necessary. He got his charms essay done a bit slower, but was able to think about pranks when he was done.
Once all of the homework was done, they head up to the boy's dorm to discuss pranks. Hermione was a bit apprehensive about going up there, as she was sure that it would be messy.
"Don't worry Hermione, Harry forces us to keep our space clean,as he refuses to live with pigs for friends. Dean and Seamus had followed suit, even though Harry didn't force them." Teddy explained.
"But it's ok for him and Ron to eat like pigs though?" Hermione said, making Harry and Ron grumble in annoyance, and Teddy and Neville to roar in laughter. When they got up to the room, it was, as promised, clean. Maybe even cleaner than her dorm. They talked for about an hour about the pranks they could pull. They decided to do some small ones here and there, but save a big one for the Halloween feast.
After a delicious dinner, the five friends sat in their new favorite chairs by the fire and simply enjoyed one another's company. When it was late, the boys each went to their desks and started to write letters home to their family.
Dear Mum and Dad
I have gone through a day at Hogwarts now, and I don't think that I have forgotten anything. On the train ride here, we became friends with a girl named Hermione. Her and Teddy are very smart, and they helped me with my homework today. Classes seem very interesting this year.
I'm in Gryffindor, by the way.

Dear Mum and Dad,
I got into Gryffindor! All of my friend are with me too. Classes so far are great, and we worked on our homework after classes today and finished it all.

I'm in Gryffindor, obviously. The food here is amazing, of course, mum's is better. Classes aren't so hard yet, and hopefully they stay that way.

Dear Mum and Dad,
Thank you for the scarf, I know it meant a lot to dad, so thanks.
I talked with Severus today after class. I reminded me to do all of my work. He said that he thinks that I will be as good as mum in potions. I hope so.
I earned Gryffindor 50 points today in Transfiguration for being able to tell that McGonagall was an Animagus. I can't wait to learn more in that class.
Teddy and Hermione are keeping us in check, and we finished our homework before dinner.
Dad, you'll be happy. We decided that we(Hermione, Teddy, Ron, Neville and I) would be pranksters like dad and his friends. Don't worry mum, we'll be fair, and prank all houses and everyone.
