A/N: This chapter feels shorter, and ends kind of suddenly (again, sorry), but I promise that I'm already working on the next one! No more pushing this story to the side. I have to keep working on it! And I shall. So here is this little chapter! :]

Rin found herself briskly walking towards the only place that she could think of that that dog-faced demon wouldn't know where to find her. She hadn't really intended to head in this direction, but her instincts must have kicked in with the adrenaline when she stormed out on that jerk.

Rin entered the apartment building and started ascending the stairs, taking two at a time. She was still so fired up from earlier that she knew that she wouldn't be able to stand waiting in an elevator for half a minute, lest she damage the buttons in her frustration. When she reached her desired floor, Rin flew out into the halls, eyes scanning back and forth until she found the room number that she had memorized months ago.

Her fist pounded against the plain white surface, completely forgetting about the little buzzer beside the door. She could hear frantic movement through the thin walls, and Rin tapped her fingers impatiently against her arm.

"H-hello?" A very disheveled and anxious-looking Kohaku swung the door wide open to see who was assaulting his front doorway. As soon as she saw his freckled face, Rin's anger completely melted away. She threw her arms around his shoulders in a tight embrace, much to his surprise.

"R-Rin? What are you doing here?" Baffled, Kohaku just stood there with his hands raised above his head, careful to not touch her in case that she wasn't calmed down yet.

"I came to see you. I really just need someone to talk to…" Rin buried her face into his shoulder, needing the comfort of his hold on her. Rin instantly relaxed when she felt his arms go around her waist. Pressing closer to him, Rin tightened her hold on his body. Slowly, Kohaku lead Rin back through the door and into his apartment. He reached around and shut the door, thankful to be within the privacy of his home once more.

"So…" he started, unsure of what to do now. " What was is that you needed to talk to me about?" Rin looked up at her boyfriend with her large, chocolate brown eyes. Her mouth opened as she started to speak, but just thinking about what she needed to say made her eyes water. Sadness had started to creep in, filling that space where her anger had been just minutes before. Lips quivering, Rin tried one more time to tell Kohaku all about Sesshomaru, and how he was making her feel. But once again, nothing came out. Instead, silent tears started to flow down her cheeks as she hid her face in Kohaku's shoulder again.

"Hey…don't cry…it's okay…" Kohaku awkwardly patted Rin's back, unsure of what to do. Rin had never cried in front of him before, and he wasn't sure of what he was supposed to do for her. Gently, he led her back over to his couch, wanting her to at least be comfortable. She clung to the fabric of his shirt; half sitting on his lap as he slowly stroked her hair. It wasn't long until a good portion of Kohaku's shirt was soaked from Rin's tears, and it made him sad to see her cry like this.

After what felt like an eternity for both of them, Rin's tears finally came to a stop. Along with that, Kohaku's hand also ceased to stroke her dark brown hair. He looked down at her in question, silently asking if she was ready to share now. She nodded her head, moving back away slightly to see if that would help her any.

"If I start from the beginning…" Rin sniffled, willing herself to make it through her explanation.

One and a half hours and half a box of tissues later, Rin had told Kohaku almost everything that she could about Sesshomaru. From how she met the demon in the rain one night, to how their romance blossomed and Rin thought that she might have found the perfect match, all the way to the way he left her heart-broken and miserable, and how now she was reliving those old moments of misery every day what with Sesshomaru being back. She explained to Kohaku many of the activities and trials that the demon had pushed her through, and Kohaku looked at her through a mask of many emotions. The only things that Rin had failed to include were how Sesshomaru had taken her into a demon city, and how he was now currently residing with her in her apartment.

Kohaku didn't know what to say. He had known that Rin had been in a relationship prior to being with him, and that it didn't end well. What he hadn't known was that Rin had been in love with a demon. Somehow, it affected the way that he looked at her. Deep down, he thought that she was better than that. Kohaku's father had been murdered by a demon, making him unable to find any warmth in his heart for the entire species. Knowing that Rin had been romantically involved with one…it made his heart clench with an uncomfortable, guilty anger.

Rin could feel Kohaku's uncertainty from her story. She didn't want him feeling as though she had used him as an emotional crutch to fall back on, because that wasn't why she was with him at all. She had already assured him of that at least three times during her story, but she felt as though it needed to be said again. Before Rin could get any words out, Kohaku shushed her. Rin looked up at him, wanting him to truly understand her. But from the look him his eye…it seemed that he just couldn't.

"…will you be okay?" Not knowing anything else to say, Kohaku picked the only thing that didn't reveal the guilty judgment that he was feeling and directing towards Rin. It wasn't as if he had known her when she was with the demon…but now was different. He had told her about his story, and still she was associating with the monster, still getting worked up over him. Even after all the pain that he had put her through…

Rin looked down, unsure of how to answer. She wanted to tell Kohaku that yes, she was fine. But she knew that she wasn't. He knew that she wasn't. And yet she wasn't comfortable admitting the truth to him. Her inability made her very uncomfortable. But his tension was making it worse. She could almost feel his disappointment cutting her like a knife. Miserably, she pulled away. She couldn't stay here, either. Kohaku just stared down at her with his large brown eyes. Rin started tearing up again. He looked so unfamiliar…so unlike the man that she had started to fall for. Kohaku slowly started to put a hand on her shoulder, but Rin fully pulled away, unable to sit any longer. As much as she hated it, she wouldn't be able to stay here either. The only place she could go now was the place she was dreading most.

Because this story technically is a Sesshomaru/Rin fic, I needed to start breaking down Rin's current relationship and building her and Sesshomaru back up. It may be long and tedious and difficult for me, but I shall prevail. But if you have suggestions on how I should go about it (because with my busy life, I could use any help that I can), feel free to give voice to your opinion in one way or another, whether that be a review or pm.
Anyway, thank you again for your continued support! :D
