Gabriella's nurses rolled her over and she groaned as she felt the pressure pushing down on her bottom. She reached over for Sharpay's hand. Sharpay watched her and frowned. Sharpay pushed Gabriella's hair back and squeezed her hand. Gabriella huffed out, digging her nails in.

"Ow, Gabi. Nails."

"Sorry." She breathed out. "Is Troy back from the cafeteria yet?"

"No, honey. He'll be back in a minute." Sharpay said. "Do you want me to go get him?"

"No, a doctor would be nice though." Gabriella said, grabbing the rails on her bed.

She'd been in labor for a whole twelve hours now. Her epidural was in full kick and she felt like she needed to push. Her child's father was nowhere to be found and she felt like she was going to rip her hair out because she was so stressed out over him. The pressure in her back was getting unbearable.

"Hello Gabi, you ready for the baby to finally come?"

"I've been ready for weeks." She panted. "How much longer?"

"Let me take a look, then I'll let you know." Dr. Ortega said. She lifted her blankets up and moved Gabriella carefully. "Looks like you're about ready to start pushing Gabi. We're going to get the room set up and you can have three people in here with you, alright?"

"Okay." Gabriella nodded. "Thank god." She turned to look at Sharpay. Shar was smiling widely. "Can you get Taylor and Troy, please?"

"Of course. Do you want me to send anybody else in here?"

"No, come back."

Sharpay walked out of the room and found Taylor in the hallway on the phone. "Gabi's getting ready to push, have you seen Bolton?"

"I passed him on the way back up. He said he'll be right up."

"Well Gabi is about to have the baby and if he keeps playing hide and seek all day then we won't see his baby." Sharpay said. "I'm going to call that fucker. Tell Gabi I'll be right back."

"Yes, ma'am." Taylor said with a smirk. Taylor walked into the room while Sharpay went on a man hunt. "Hey honey, how are you feeling?"

"Like I'm in labor." Gabriella said dryly.

Taylor smiled and kissed her forehead. "Do you need anything?"

"I'd love a greasy cheeseburger right now, but I'm a little busy." Gabriella said sarcastically. Taylor just smiled and wiped the sweat off her head. "Where's Sharpay and Troy?"

"Sharpay is searching for Troy. I saw her on the way in here." Gabriella reached for her hand and let out a long groan. "Just breath Gabi. In and out. Don't hold your breath."

"It hurts."

"I know it does, it'll be worth it when you see your baby okay?"

Gabriella nodded, swallowing thickly. She tried to focus on her breathing. "Ow, ow, ow, ow." Troy said as Sharpay dragged him in by his ear. "Let me go."

"Only because we're here."

Taylor watched them, amused. Gabi was more annoyed. "Where the hell were you?"

"I was getting something to eat because I was starving. Blondie threw my sandwich away and dragged me up here by the ear." Troy said, rubbing his ear. "Sorry it took me so long to eat a sandwich."

"I'm sorry about your fucking sandwich but I'm kind of in labor." Gabi said, putting the towel over her face.

"She's ready to push." Sharpay informed just as a group of hospital staff rushed in the room with equipment for the baby.

Dr. Ortega put gloves on her freshly washed hands. "So daddy, do you want to watch or be up by mom's head?"

"It's up to Gabi." Troy said looking at her.

"You can watch, I don't care."

"Good, because I don't want to watch. No offense hon." Sharpay said, moving towards the top of the bed.

"Great, it's settled. I'm going to have daddy and…"

'Taylor."

"Daddy and Taylor will each hold a leg. When your next contraction starts I'm going to have you start pushing." The doctor instructed. "Are you ready to meet your baby, Gabi?"

Gabriella smiled. "More than ready." Her smile turned to a grimace when a contraction hit her. "Oh god."

"Come on, Gabi. Push as hard as you can." Dr. Ortega encouraged. Gabi bared down and pushed for as hard and as long as she could. "Great job. It's going to take a little while for the baby to actually come out, but you're doing wonderful. Here comes another one so, push. Breathe in and out."

Gabi practiced her breathing as she pushed. She gripped the rail with white knuckles and squeezed Sharpay's hand. Sharpay whispered encouraging words as she wiped her forehead in between lengths of pushing. Gabi was glad she had her best friends support and encouragement while she was having this baby.

About an hour later the baby was crowning and was just about to make it's appearance. Troy grinned at her when he first saw the top of his child's head. "Gabi, it's bald." He grinned.

"Really?" She asked.

"You can touch it if you like, it's right there."

"Seriously?" Gabi asked, reaching a hand down. She touched the top of it's head and made a face. "Feels gross."

Everybody in the room laughed. "Just a couple more pushes, Gabi, then you're done."

Gabriella took a deep breath. "Okay. I'm ready, let's do this." She gripped Sharpay's hand and pushed as hard as she could.

"Gabsy!" Troy said with wide eyes. "It's head! Oh God, it's shoulders. How are you doing this? Keep going!" He encouraged. "Oh shit! It's feet! It has feet." Troy put his hand over his mouth when he heard the tiny baby cry. "Oh Gabs. It's a boy."

Gabriella rest her head back but it shot right back up when she heard boy. "It's a boy?" She asked, looking around. Her best friends were hugging, tears streaming down their cheeks. She looked over at Troy who let out a sob, when the doctor showed him the baby.

"Congratulations, Mom. A tiny, baby boy." Dr. Ortega said, holding up the crying baby. She spread his legs, in proof to show her the sex of the baby. "Daddy, want to cut the cord?"

Troy wiped his face. "Please." Troy cut the cord carefully before watching them take away the baby. He moved closer to Gabi who was holding her arms out for him. He leaned down and she wiped his tears with a soft smile. "I'm so proud of you, Gab."

"Thank you Troy." She said with a soft crack in her voice. "I love him already."

Troy grinned. "Me too." He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips. "I love you, Thank you Gabsy." His lips rested against her forehead for a minute. He pushed back her hair.

"I love you." She put her hand on top of his and squeezed it firmly. "We have a boy. Do you want to go tell everybody?"

"Yeah, I kinda do."

She giggled. "Go tell them. You'll be the first to hold him. I promise."

Troy grinned and he pulled Sharpay and Taylor out of the room with him. Once they got in the waiting room Troy hugged both of them and held them at his side. Troy smiled as everybody got up anxiously. "So what is it?" Chad was the first to ask.

"It's a healthy baby boy." Troy said. "I didn't wait for the measurements, I was too excited to come out here."

"I have pictures!" Sharpay said, holding up her phone.

"You go back in there, we'll be back in when Gabi is situated." Taylor said, patting his back. "Congratulations."

"Thanks Tay." He said softly. He rushed back towards the room and opened it. He saw his son cradled in Gabriella's arms. He was still whimpering and she calmed him down easily. He smiled. "I thought I was the first to hold him."

Gabriella smiled innocently. "I couldn't help it."

"It's okay, you did all the hard work."

"Yeah, and you'll be holding him the whole time I try to sleep anyway."

"True." He agreed. "Did they tell you the measurements?"

"He weighs six pounds six ounces, seventeen and a half inches." Gabriella shared. The baby cuddled against his mama and let out a big yawn. "He looks like me."

"He's a handsome little guy." Troy said, sitting next to Gabriella. "I love him. We're going to be best friends."

Gabriella giggled. "He's going to love you so much. He's going to want to be just like you."

"He's kind of like me. He's got big balls."

"Troy Bolton!" Gabriella scolded, slapping Troy's chest. Troy just laughed. "Leave his balls alone."

"I was just saying." Troy said with a shrug. "Did you get any stitches?"

Gabriella shook her head. "No." She leaned down, kissing her baby boy's cheek. The baby wiggled in her arms. "Do you want to meet your daddy?" She smiled as he opened his eyes briefly. "I think that's a yes." Gabriella handed the tiny bundle over to Troy who was sitting next to her.

"Wow." Troy said, lifting him up to get a good look at him. "He really does look like you. He has your lips, your cheekbones. He's perfect Gabi."

"Yeah, he is." She agreed, resting against Troy. "Forty one weeks was worth it. The fourteen hours of labor was worth it."

"Who knew something so special was made from one night?" He wondered. "I think it was meant to be like this. I think he was a wake up call for the both of us. We're college graduates. We're adults and we have to stop acting like teenagers, especially me."

"He's the most important thing in our lives."

"We're going to make his life as great as possible." Troy said. "He's going to be a good person when he's older."

Gabriella nodded, sleepily. "He doesn't have a name."

"Didn't we like Isaac? Issac Jack Bolton?"

"No."

"Isaac Alexander Bolton?"

"He doesn't look like an Isaac." She murmured, she looked down at her son. "Gray."

"What?" Troy looked at her confused.

"Grayson, his name is Grayson. Grayson Alexander Bolton."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

Troy smiled at her and she smiled back, closing her eyes. He kissed her forehead. "Go to sleep babe."

"One step ahead of you."

Troy chuckled then looked at his son. He was so small. He looked like he could break at any minute. Troy kissed his sons head. One of Grayson's hands came out from the swaddle and he reached out like he was stretching. Troy put his hand against his sons, he immediately wrapped his tiny hand around Troy's thumb.

"Hey, Gray. I'm your daddy." Troy said softly. "So glad you're finally here." Troy got up again and put Gray down. He started whimpering. Troy tightened his swaddle and picked him back up.

Troy had enjoyed his small amount of time alone with his son. The nurses took him away for routine tests and said he'd be back within an hour to hour and a half. He tucked Gabriella in and let her sleep. She was so exhausted, she didn't even stir when he kissed her forehead. He headed back out to the waiting room. He felt like a new man, a father, and he couldn't be anymore happy.

Maria was the first to notice him. "How's Gabi, and the baby?"

"Gabi is good. She finally fell asleep. We got to hold him for a little bit and they just took him for some tests. He'll be back in an hour or so. He was born May 5, 2013 at 11:14 in the morning. He was six pounds, six ounces. Seventeen and a half inches. He's a small guy but he's healthy."

"Good." Gabriella's father said. "I'm glad my grandson is healthy."

"What's his name?" Sharpay asked eagerly.

Troy grinned. "Grayson, Grayson Alexander Bolton."

The women cooed over his name while Gabi's dad and Troy shared proud smiles. "So are you going to marry my baby or what?"

Troy laughed. "God knows I'm trying."

Mr. Montez shook his head. "She was always hard headed. Congratulations, son. Can't wait to meet him."

Gabriella heard a small cry and opened her eyes. She covered her mouth and yawned. She was starting to get the feeling back in her legs. A nurse was wheeling Gray in. "We didn't mean to wake you, Ms. Montez. Your baby boy is perfectly healthy. How are you feeling?"

"My legs are waking up, I'm starting to feel everything."

The nurse nodded. "I'll talk to Dr. Ortega about giving you something for that. You wanted to breastfeed, correct?"

"Yes." Gabriella tried to move herself up so she was more comfortable. She winced as she felt a slight pain in between her legs. "I'm not really sure how to start."

"You can take down your dress and I'll give you the baby. They're going to be tender so massage gently." The nurse instructed. She picked up the baby and handed him over to Gabriella. "Hold him like a football with his mouth by your nipple… Great."

Gabriella did as she was instructed and Grayson latched on. Gabriella watched him curiously as he sucked. He was so little, she couldn't get over it. She wasn't too sure she liked the feeling. She watched his little eyes open and look up at her. She knew he couldn't see much but she immediately felt the bond. She was going to pour her heart and soul into this child.

She finished burping him just as her mother and father walked into the room. She smiled up at them, holding the tiny baby in her arms. "Oh, Gabriella." Her mother said softly. "He is tiny."

"He's perfect, ma." Gabriella said, kissing his cheek gently. "I love him so much I can't even handle it."

Her father chuckled. "You sound like your mom when you were born. Let me see the little guy." She handed the sleeping boy to his grandpa. He cradled the baby in his arms like he did when he first held his baby girl. His daughter looked like him and his Grandson looked like her. He couldn't be any more proud. "He's Beautiful, Gabi."

She saw her mom tear up as he passed him over to her. "He looks just like you when you were a baby." Her mom sniffled. "Can I have him?"

Gabriella laughed. "No way."

"Honey, I think we're going to have to move to California." She told her husband. "I want him to know his grandma."

"He will mom. We'll be out there for holidays and birthdays and any other time we don't have school." Gabriella said, rubbing her eyes. "Is Troy in the waiting room?"

"Yeah, he's been gushing about Grayson since he came out." Maria said, watching the baby sleep. "We called Lucille, Jack, and Mark. They're going to come down next weekend after you're settled in at the house."

"Good, I want them to come down soon."

"Did they say when you get to go home?" Her father asked.

Gabriella shook her head. "I'm not sure but hopefully I'll be home by tomorrow morning. I'll ask when somebody comes in to check on us."

"How do you like being a Mommy?"

Gabriella grinned at her fathers question. "I'm in love with him already. I just want to hold him forever. I can't wait to see what adventures I'll have with him. He's going to be a mama's boy and no woman is ever going to be good enough for him."

Her parents laughed. "That's exactly what your father said when you were born."

"And no man will ever be good enough for you, except two."

"Two?"

"Your son and your future husband and father of your child." Her father said casually. "Seriously Gabi. He's it. I just need you to see it."

"I'm not going to be with him just because we have a son."

"Your son is one reason to be with him. The main reason is because that man out there loves you. He's got a weird way of showing it sometimes, but he does. He's always been like that. I knew since the fourth grade he was going to be the one you marry."

"Dad, I don't want to talk about this right now."

"Why won't you give him a chance?"

Gabriella shut her eyes. "Stop." His wife said. "Knock it off, she just had a baby. She doesn't need this from you. Grayson is going to be her main focus for the rest of her life. Let it go and let her life fall into place." Maria placed her grandson in her husbands arms. "Go sit down and bond while you can."

She heard the familiar mumbling and shuffling of her father. She felt a hand stroke her head. "I'm tired mom."

"I know baby. You're going to be tired for the next eighteen years. We'll take care of the baby. You get some sleep."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome baby." Maria said, pulling up her blankets.

May 6, 2013

"Thank you Dr. Ortega, for everything." Gabi said, while she brushed her hair. She'd finally gotten a shower and cleaned up. They were discharged after just an overnight stay at the hospital. Gabriella and Troy were tired of being in the hospital and were ready to finally get home with their son.

"You're welcome, Gabriella. Call me if you need anything."

"Of course." Gabriella put her brush away and looked over at Troy who was dressing Grayson up. She smiled at them. "Are we almost ready to go?"

"Yeah, he just needs his hat and his booties and mittens? Do we have mittens for him?" Troy asked, kissing his son's cheek and lifting him up.

Gabriella nodded. "He should. They should be in his bag." Gabriella walked over and looked through the bag. She pulled out yellow mittens. She stuck them on his small hands while Troy put socks and booties on his small feet. Troy put his beanie on and wrapped him up. "You're so good with him." Gabriella said, leaning her head on his shoulder.

"I feel like I'm going to break him." Troy said, chuckling. "He's so little."

"In a couple months he won't be so little." She pointed out.

"Very True. He's ready to go, mama." Troy said, lifting him up and handing him over to her. "I'll get the car seat and the bags."

Gabriella smiled as she cradled her son. "Thank you. Hi baby boy."

"Gabi, are we ready to go?" A nurse asked, wheeling a chair into the room. Gabi nodded. "Take a seat and we'll wheel you out. Daddy, ready to go?"

"Yes ma'am." Troy said, holding the car seat on his arm with their bags. Gabi's parents had taken some things back home earlier, so Troy didn't have to carry much. "Let's get out of here."

Troy lead them to the truck that was parked out front. He put the bags in the back while Gabi strapped Gray in his car seat. She locked the car seat in place before she got in herself. She took a minute to get adjusting to sitting before she closed the door behind her. Troy shut the back and got into the front seat.

"I'm so ready to be home." Gabriella said, snapping her seatbelt on. "Can you do the first night duty?"

"I would babe, but I don't have boobs." Troy said chuckling. "I'll get up with you, though."

"It's fine, you don't have to."

"Nope. I am. I'll cuddle you and we can talk about how were never going to sleep when we should be sleeping."

Gabi smiled, shaking her head to herself. "I'll probably watch him sleep the whole time."

"I can't believe we have a son."

"It's crazy."

"Insane." Troy murmured. "You hungry?"

"Starving, actually."

"I think your mom is making something."

"God I hope so." Gabs murmured. "I feel like I haven't eaten in days."

"You really haven't. You barely ate hospital food."

"I kind of want some mac and cheese."

"I'll put it on the grocery list."

"And a nap."

"He's supposed to eat soon right?"

"Yeah, I'll feed him when we get home."

"Is it weird?" Troy asked glancing back at her. "Breastfeeding?"

Gabi nodded. "Oh yeah. I'll let you try on the breast pump to see how it feels."

He laughed. "I don't know about all that."

"I'll get you to try it one day." She said with a small smirk. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes. "Mmm, wake me up when we get home."

"Sure thing."
