"Say Happy Birthday Daddy. I have a present for you." Gabriella sang, sitting on the edge on Troy's bed, holding Gray. Gabriella grinned as Troy groaned, rolling over. "Come on babe, get up."
Gray yawned with a light squeaking sound. Troy smiled with his eyes still closed. "Good morning big guy."
"I saved the first dirty diaper of the day, just for you." She leaned down, kissing the corner of his mouth. "Happy birthday."
Troy sat up, following her lips. Gabriella placed their son in his arms. "You're evil, Gabsy."
"I'm going to take a shower." She kissed his forehead and walked out of the room.
She walked into the bathroom humming to herself. She turned on the shower before shedding her clothes and stepping in. A lot had changed in the last year. She was a mom. He was only nine days old but she couldn't even remember what life without Grayson was like. She never thought she'd love anything as much as she loved her son.
Taylor and Chad were adjusting well with a baby in the house as well. They often offered breaks to Gabi but she declined. She loved spending time with her baby boy. Troy had gone back to school but he couldn't wait to come back home to Gabi and Grayson. He tried to get Gabi to video tape 24/7 so he didn't miss a thing.
Her parents had gone back to Albuquerque. Troy's parents came and went meeting their grandson and spending some time with him. They were going to be back for Gabi's birthday this summer. She was happy that they all supported her and Troy. They all are just over the moon since their grandson was born.
Gabriella finished washing her hair and moved on to her body. She rinsed off and wrapped her towel around her body. She wrapped a second one around her hair before rushing back to her room with her dirty clothes. She threw her clothes in the hamper along with some dirty ones around the room. She dried herself before applying lotion. She got dressed then brushed her hair in front of her mirror. She threw it up in a careless bun before leaving her room, in search of her son.
She found her son strapped to Troy's chest. He was making some breakfast, moving around the kitchen smoothly. "Let me take over." Gabi said, bumping him out of the way.
"Only if I get a kiss."
Gabi smiled. "One birthday kiss, you already got it."
"A real kiss." He said tapping his lips.
"Wasn't it a kiss, that lead us to that?" She asked, pointing to their son. Troy just grinned, pulling her hips closer to his. "Careful." She said, rubbing Gray's back through the sling he was in. She turned her attention back to the cooking breakfast. She grabbed a couple plates and turned the stove to low heat. She made Troy a plate before she made her own.
Troy set the baby in his swing. He turned it on and let the soft clicking fill the room. He walked back to the kitchen and watched Gabi plate their breakfast. She turned off the stove and turned to get some utensils. Troy took the opportunity to stride up to her. She laughed as he wrapped his arms around her again. "Why are you laughing at me?"
"Because you're funny." She said with a small smirk.
He rolled his eyes, cupping her cheek. He leaned down, kissing her lips firmly. She wrapped her arms around his neck. He lifted her up and sat her down on the counter. He entangled his tongue with hers. He sunk his teeth into her bottom lip gently. He pulled away slowly.
"Happy birthday." She said softly, watching him.
He gave her a small half smile. His fingers ran up and down her thighs gently. He tried to take a step back but she pulled him back to her. She wrapped her arms around his neck again. His arms wrapped around her middle. She kissed the top of his head.
Grayson made a small cry from the living room. Troy pulled away. "I'll go get him."
"I think he's hungry. He didn't eat much when he woke up." Gabi said, sliding off the counter. She took her plate to the table. "Bring him over to me."
"Alright." Troy said, lifting Grey from the swing. "Hey buddy. Food is on it's way." He patted his son's butt and headed over to Gabi. Gabi was eating her breakfast. She dropped the strap from her tank and rolled it under her bare breast. Troy handed the baby over and Gabi adjusted him. He latched on.
Troy got his breakfast from the kitchen and sat across from her. "You have school today?" She asked in between bites.
"Yeah, but I'm not going."
"Why not?" She asked, frowning.
"I'm spending today with my favorite little guy." Troy looked up at her. "Is that okay?"
"Of course it's okay."
"I want you hang out too." Troy said, licking his lips. "There's not much to with a newborn but I figure we can find something to do."
"I'd like that. I'd like to get out of the house. Take Gray on his first little day trip." Gabi smiled.
"Great." Troy nodded. "We can brain storm while we eat."
"Morning all." Chad said, walking into the kitchen. He grabbed a plate and brought it to the table. "Do you really have to eat with your tit out?" Chad asked, trying hard not to look at the breastfeeding baby.
"Gray needs to eat too." Gabi defended. "Usually I do this topless."
Chad made a face. "Please don't."
"Good morning." Taylor walked in the room. "How's my little boy?"
"He's good. We're going to have our first little day trip as a family today." Gabi said with a smile.
Taylor smiled. "Fun, for your birthday, Troy?"
"Yep." He said, eating his breakfast.
Nothing much of interest was said during the remainder of their breakfast. Once they were actually done eating Gabi got herself ready and Troy went in the shower while Gray took a power nap. After they dressed their son, Gabi buckled her son into his car seat. Troy carried the baby and his bag to the car, securing him in the car seat holder while Gabi hopped into the passengers seat.
"Do you know where we should go?" Troy asked, looking over at Gabriella.
She shook her head. "Like you said, there's not much you can do with a newborn."
"We can take a walk around the city?"
"That sounds nice. It's a little cold but he's got a blanket and a good jacket." Gabi said, looking back at her son. "If that's what you want to do, Troy."
Troy nodded and started up the truck. "I thought Gray was going to be different. He's so laid back."
"We definitely lucked out with him." Gabi said with a smile. "But I guess we'll truly find out in a couple of years."
He reached over for her hand. He laced his fingers in between hers. "He's going to be a great kid."
She nodded, stroking his hand. "I can't wait until he's bigger. I want to be the mom that always goes to his school and helps out his teachers and bakes cookies for the class. I want to be a PTA mom and a soccer mom or whatever sport he plays."
Troy chuckled. "I can't wait to see that."
"You know you're going to be the ultimate dad and coach."
"Only if he does normal sport. What if he's into like hockey or lacrosse? I don't know how to play that."
"You learn with him." Gabi said, squeezing his hand. "I can't wait to learn with him." She turned her head to look at his car seat.
May 31, 2013
It was Father and son bonding day today. Gabriella had to go to her doctor then to her school. She wasn't afraid to leave Troy alone with the baby but she was going to miss them the couple hours that she was gone. Troy was excited to bond with his son. Gray and Gabriella had special bonding time when she breastfed and he was a little jealous.
Gray had been awake all morning after Gabriella headed off. She told him again and again to stick to his schedule before she left. Troy's eyes looked over the chart as he rocked his son. Gray was fed, burped and ready to play. He looked down at his baby and Gray looked back at him with wide eyes.
"What are we going to do today while mommy is out?" He asked the infant. "Let's start with some baseball."
Troy carried his son over to the couch. He took a seat, turning on the TV. He kept Gray cradled in his arms but turning him slightly so he can see the TV. "The Giants are playing the Cardinals!" Troy said watching the TV. "We like the Diamondbacks, even though we live in the Bay Area." Gray gurgled.
"We like the Cardinals but the ones who play football. I wonder which sport you're going to like." Troy wondered aloud. "You seemed to be content with Baseball. It's fun but I'm better at basketball. You'll probably be better at baseball. Looks like you're going to be small like mommy. Sorry buddy."
"Hey, you'll probably be fast." Troy said with a shrug. He leaned down, kissing his sons head. "Did you see that play? Solid. In baseball you have to be quick and strong. Never do steroids son."
"You're actually talking to him like he understands."
Troy jumped when he heard Chad's voice. "Shit, you scared me."
"You spend too much time with Gabi." Chad took a seat next to Troy. "Let me see the kid."
Troy handed Gray over to Chad. "Be careful with his head." Troy reminded.
Chad held him up. "It's crazy we were all this small once."
"Right?" Troy said looking at his son. "Poor guy is going to be small like Gabi."
"Maybe not. He could have a crazy growth spurt and be taller than you. Doctor M is pretty tall."
"True." Troy nodded. Chad handed him back over. "What are you supposed to be doing that you're not?"
"Studying…. Laundry…the list goes on." Chad said with a shrug. "Want a beer?"
"Nah. We should order a pizza though."
"Yes!" Chad said, popping up excitedly. Troy chuckled, turning his attention back to the TV. Troy reclined the couch and set Gray on his chest. "Dude." Chad came back, sniffing slightly. "What- is that him?"
Troy sniffed his son. "Unfortunately. Want to change him?"
"You're his father." Chad said, shaking his head vigorously.
"Come on, it'll be good experience." Troy said, sitting up. "I'll help you dude."
Chad sighed. "Fine."
Troy carried Gray to Gabi's room. He placed his son on the changing table. He slid his pants off and unbuttoned the onsie he was wearing. "Are you ready?" Troy asked.
"Dude what is that?"
"It's his belly button." Troy said rolling his eyes.
"Are you sure it's supposed to look like that?"
Troy sighed. "Yes, Chad. It's going to fall out soon."
Chad made a face. "Seriously? Did you guys…. You know?"
"Did we what?" Troy asked, grabbing a diaper and a box of wipes.
"Snip him?"
Troy furrowed his eyebrows. "What?"
"You know… his thing."
Troy chuckled at Chad's ridiculousness. "Yes. We did."
"Thank god. Did he cry?"
"A little… Are you going to change him or not?"
"I don't think I should." Chad said, folding his arms over his chest.
"Why? You scared?"
Chad made a face. "No. I'm not scared." He looked back down at the baby reaching his hands out. "Okay I'm a little scared."
"Just do it. You're not going to hurt him."
Chad sighed. "Fine." Chad pulled the tabs off the diaper slowly. He pulled down the diaper. "He didn't even poop!"
Troy chuckled. "His farts smell so bad dude."
"I know." Chad said, reaching out for a wipe. "This is strange."
"Yeah, you get used to it after a while." Troy said, watching Chad. He opened the diaper and handed it over to Chad when he handed Troy the dirty one.
Chad slid the diaper under Gray's butt and he started crying. "Why, why, why is he crying?"
"He's probably cold." Troy said. "Don't worry about it. Hurry up and put the diaper on. He might pee on you."
"What?!" Chad shrieked.
Troy chuckled. "Just put the diaper on."
Chad put the diaper on, pressing the tabs in place. He put Gray's clothes back on while Troy disposed of the dirty diaper. Chad lifted him up at he stopped crying. "That was a piece of cake."
"Great. You got the next one too." Troy said, taking his son back. "Let's go watch some baseball Gray. You should wash your hands before the pizza gets here."
Gabriella's day was entirely too long. She missed her baby and even Troy. She had a check up at her doctor, they made sure she was healing up fine. They were going to put her on birth control but she was still breast feeding so she decided that she'd come in when she stopped breast feeding.
She had to go to her school next. She had to talk to her counselor to make sure she was still on track for Graduation even with her semester out. She was going to take online classes next semester. She decided this once Gray was born. She couldn't stand being away from him for hours while she was in class.
She also met with the professor she worked for. She told him she'd be back to work a couple hours a day. He told her she could come in whenever she wants and she could even bring Gray. She felt incredibly blessed to have a job with so much flexibility.
It was a little after four when she got home. She drove a little too fast to get back to her boy but it was worth it. She closed the door behind her quietly and tip toed into the living room. The first thing she saw was the pizza box on the table. There was an empty bottle next to it. Troy's feet were up on the table. Taylor must not be home yet because she would have slapped him awake.
Gray was asleep on Troy who was asleep on the couch next to Chad. Chad was sleeping as well. She smiled to herself. Boys. She brushed Troy's hair back and kissed his forehead. She reached over and picked up her son. He made a soft squeak but snuggled into Gabriella once she placed him on her chest.
"Mommy missed you." She said quietly, walking into her room. She closed the door behind her and kissed her sleeping son's head. She put him in his bassinette and laid on her bed, watching him sleep.
"Oh Thank god." Troy said a couple minutes later, rushing into her room.
She smiled. "Hey sleepy head."
"I freaked out when I found Gray was gone." Troy said, sitting next to her. "When did you get home?"
"Just a couple minutes ago." Gabriella said with a shrug.
"How was school?" He asked, laying along the foot of her bed.
She sat up, pushing her hair back. "It went good. Professor said I could bring Gray in when I work. We won't have to worry about finding a babysitter."
Troy smiled. "Good. Are you excited to get back to school?"
"Yes." She groaned. "I feel like I'm being so lazy but then I'm reminded I just had a baby. I don't feel too lazy often." She laughed. "How are you doing?"
"Honestly, I thought it was going to be worse than this."
"Right?"
"I mean, I love you and Gray but I thought I was going to be like up all night and being peed on every time I took off his diaper. I thought he'd cry all the time and you'd be nagging me to do this and do that but it's not that bad."
Gabriella laughed. "Thanks." She said sarcastically. "But seriously. You've been such a great dad Troy. I wouldn't want to have a baby with anybody else."
"Good thing I got you pregnant." Troy said, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "You were like ten times worse when you were pregnant."
"That is because I constantly was worried about you and wanted to spend all my time with you. I replaced you with Gray, sorry babe."
"No offence taken." Troy said, rolling on top of Gabriella. "Want to make another one?"
"Ugh, no." She used all her strength to push him off her. "Dear god, no."
Troy laughed, sitting up. "Don't worry, I don't plan on having any more children."
"Good. I'm going to take a nap."
"I'll get Gray when he wakes up. He'll probably be hungry by then."
"Thanks Troy." She said with a sleepy smile.
"Anything for you baby mama."
