After the tour of the arena, Troy took his girl out to lunch in his favorite place in Memphis. They took a brief walk around the city before Troy took her back to his apartment. As it was getting later, he was getting anxious about how they were going to spend their first New Year celebration as an actual couple.
He got a couple texts from his teammates, inviting him out to dinner parties or wild house parties. He, honestly, wanted to go to neither. He wanted to watch her stretch her feet out and relax as she was now. Troy was pretending to look at his phone in the doorway of his room. Gabriella was stretched out on the couch reading a book she brought with her.
It was nice to see her comfortable like that. It reminded him of when they were teenagers, long before Grayson. She'd come over and hang out. If Chad and the team was there, she'd be near by studying or reading a book. He couldn't get over how this was actually happening for them. He had the girl of his dreams, the mother of his child, his best friend, and she was all his.
He set his phone down on the useless table holding the decorative lamp that Gabi picked out yet he never used. He hopped over the couch, causing Gabi to move her feet out of the way quickly. She closed her book and smiled at him. "Hey."
"Hey." She laughed quietly, stretching her feet out on his lap.
"What do you want to do for dinner?" He asked, picking up one of her feet and rubbing the sole of her feet with his thumbs.
"It doesn't matter to me." She said as she leaned back, relaxing.
"Well a couple of guys invited us out." Troy said, switching to the other foot. "But I don't really want to go out. I kind of just want to be locked up with you this weekend."
"Whatever you want to do, babe, is fine with me." She moved her feet to the ground, shifting on the couch to be closer to him. She pressed a kiss to his cheek before she leaned against him. "I can just go to the grocery store and I can cook you something special. We can go with my plan before and we can make love into the new year."
Troy chuckled. "Tempting, but no. Dinner does sound good. I want to talk about Grayson and our future. I know we already discussed some parts of it but I really want to make sure we're on the same page."
"That sounds nice."
"We can cook together. I don't want you doing all the work." He said with a small smile.
She smirked. "You'll just distract me."
Troy chuckled. "I love you, Gabsy."
"I love you too." She smiled, pressing the tip of her nose against his. She placed a light kiss on his lips. He reciprocated the kiss, giving her another peck before he pulled away. "Can we get all dressed up?"
"If you'd like baby."
"Yeah, that would be fun." Her eyes beamed with excitement. "We get wine. Some of that fancy shit, get super drunk after we talk."
Troy laughed. "I don't know about getting super drunk but wine was in my plans."
"Can we go to the store now?" Gabriella asked eagerly, making Troy laugh again.
"Relax baby. We have all night."
"Actually, I think stores close early tonight babe." She informed. "If you're tired babe, you can rest. I can just go to the store. It's going to be a long night."
"I'm fine." Troy said dropping her feet to stand up. "Lets go get some food."
They got ready and headed out to the local grocery store. They were in a time crunch to find everything they needed for dinner because the store was about to lock up for the night. They split up, doing a supermarket sweep for the items they needed. They met again in the wine aisle and couldn't decide for the life of them. Gabi just winged it and grabbed the nicest looking bottle she found.
They checked out and loaded Troy's car. They took a short drive around Memphis before they headed back to the apartment. Troy hopped in the shower while Gabi started the prep work. She set aside the wine and started chopping veggies for their meal. They decided to try their hand at a sort of Asian stir-fry. They had a back up plan incase of a disaster.
Gabriella hummed to herself as she chopped carefully. She missed her baby more and more every minute she was away from him. She'd see him soon, she reminded herself. She was trying to focus on cooking and Troy and their night ahead. She missed Troy so much while he was gone. If she felt this horrible because she missed Grayson for a couple days, she couldn't imagine what Troy felt like being gone for months. She mentally kicked herself. She should have brought him.
She sighed, setting the knife down. Troy wrapped his arms around her, squeezing gently. She jumped slightly. "Troy!"
He chuckled, kissing her shoulder. "I am thankful I waited until you put the knife down." She turned around in his arms. He only had a nice pair of slacks on, no shirt. "I didn't want my shirt to get dirty." He explained of his lack of clothing.
She smirked up at him. She traced the lines of his defined chest. "I don't mind." He grasped her wrists and leaned in to kiss her.
He smiled against her lips as he pulled away. "Go get in the shower and get ready. By the time your done, dinner will probably be ready."
She pulled him closer to her as she leaned against the counter. He released her wrists and she placed her hands on his butt. She kept them close connected only at the hips. She kissed his lips firmly before she pulled away. "God, when did you get so damn hot?" She thought aloud.
"Get. In. The. Shower." He punctuated each word with a hard kiss to her lips.
She grabbed his butt firmly. "It's not like I'm complaining. I just wanna skip dinner and talking and just ride you until I can't move anymore." She gritted her teeth and squeezed her thighs together.
Troy groaned tossing his head back. "You're making this extremely hard for me."
"I know." She smirked, pressing them together to let him know she knew exactly what he meant.
"But we have to talk." He reasoned.
"Can't we talk tomorrow?" She asked, brushing her lips down the side of his neck.
"I think we should talk tonight." He declared. He stood straight up. He picked her up and carried her to the bathroom. He kissed her lips firmly and whispered hoarsely to her. "And don't think I'm not going to give you the ride of your life tonight." He swatted her ass firmly before he turned and closed the bathroom door after he walked out.
He had to adjust himself a couple times just thinking about her in the shower. He found it hard to concentrate on preparing dinner. As dinner finally started cooking he heard her get out of the shower and walk into the bedroom silently. He bit his lips in anticipation. He knew she was going to be up to something tonight.
Gabriella was feeling the exact same way as she put on her sexy underwear. She didn't really need it but she sure as hell was going to make him work for it tonight. She shimmied on a short tight dress after she smoothed lotion on herself and blow dried her hair. She slipped on some heels just to tease him a little bit. She curled her hair without product, leaving it down. Neither of them were really concerned with her hair as they anticipated tonight's events.
She put light makeup on before she peaked her head out the door. "Troy?"
"Yeah, baby?" He asked from the kitchen.
"Is dinner ready?"
"Almost. We have to taste test. Are you ready?" He asked as he lit a couple new candles they bought and put them on the table.
"Just about." She replied, making sure she hadn't forgotten anything by running through a checklist in her head. She checked herself over again before she walked out, plucking his shirt that was laying on the bed. She found him in the kitchen and helped him slide his arms into his shirt.
He grinned as he turned to face her. They buttoned up his shirt, meeting in the middle. He tucked the shirt into his pants before he got a good look at his girl. "Wow." He murmured adoringly. "You look great."
"So do you." She pushed his hair back a little before cupping his face and pulling him down for a kiss.
"It smells pretty good but I don't know how it tastes." He said, looking at their dinner.
"We have back up so don't worry." She rubbed his back slightly. "Let's try some."
They each stuck their fingers in. They popped a vegetable in their mouths chewing thoughtfully. "Not the best."
"It's not terrible though." She said optimistically. "I think it needs pepper."
"Maybe." He tried another piece before sprinkling some pepper in there. He stirred it up and they did another taste test. "You were right. It tastes a little better."
She smiled, licking her fingers. "Good. You ready to eat?"
"Always." He husked with a naughty grin.
Gabriella smiled to herself, rolling her eyes. She grabbed their plates and Troy filled them up. She poured them some wine, sipping it for a taste. "This wine on the other hand… it's gross."
Troy laughed. "Let me try." He set his plate on the table and took a sip from her glass. He made a face. "It's so bitter." He coughed a little after he swallowed. "I think I have some whiskey in the freezer." He said with a shrug.
"Nothing says romance like Jack and Coke." She said sarcastically.
Troy chuckled, pulling the bottle out of the freezer. Gabriella rinsed out the wine glasses before filling them up with ice. Troy poured a little whiskey in their glasses before topping it off with Coke. Troy mixed the drinks with the butter knife. "We're so classy, huh, babe?"
She couldn't help but laugh and shake her head. "Completely." They got settled into their seats and started eating. Gabriella looked up at him, licking her lips. "You wanted to talk?"
"Yeah, I do." He took a sip of his drink. "Are you still against telling our friends?"
"It's only a matter of time before the cat is out of the bag."
"Do you think they'll still put all this pressure on us?" He asked, poking a piece of chicken with his fork.
She sighed. "I don't know. I just don't want them to think that just because we're together means were going to have ten more kids and get married next Tuesday." She said with a shrug. "I just want to be us and I don't want to worry about that right now, you know?" He nodded his head in agreement.
"We have a lot on our plates already. I have basketball and I'm living two thousand miles away. You're starting your career and we have Grayson. We're young. When the time is right and we decide if we want to get married then we will."
"Yes." Gabriella agreed. "I'm so glad we're on the same page on this."
"I love you, Gabsy, and I want to make you happy. We are always able to talk about everything and I want to keep it that way."
She reached over, touching his hand. "We will. You know I want that too. I'll support you on anything you want to do. If you want to quit basketball and come home then I won't be opposed to it."
Troy chuckled. "You want me to be a stay at home daddy?"
"I'm sure Gray and our future babies would like that."
"So you admit you want to have more babies with me?" He smirked.
"We make some pretty adorable babies." She defended with a smile.
"How many more adorable babies do you want?" He asked with a small smirk.
She shrugged. "A couple."
"Like six?"
Her eyes widened. "I said a couple not a while basketball team!"
He chuckled, taking another sip of his drink. "Okay so four."
"Maybe three."
"How about maybe four?"
"Troy."
He shrugged. "We have to have at least two of each."
"What if we have all boys?"
"We keep trying until we get a girl." He reasoned with a shrug.
"No way. That is how we end up with six kids." She put a piece of broccoli in her mouth.
"How about we try every three years?" He tilted his head.
"Deal." She said after she swallowed.
He watched her take a couple more bites. "Do you want a big wedding or a small wedding?"
"I thought I wanted a small wedding but I think I want a big one. I want to invite all of our friends and family." She smiled at him. "I want to have a big party after."
"That sounds perfect." He reached over and squeezed her hand. "I'm really excited for our future together. I'm really happy that Grayson is going to get the family he deserves."
"I miss him." Gabi pouted at him. "I don't know how you do it."
"It's really hard, but it's the best thing for him right now. Next year I can pay for my college, your college, and Grayson's college. We could even buy a really nice house in Tennessee."
Gabi laughed quietly. "A really nice house in Tennessee is a condo in California."
"That is why I have to play at least five to seven years for a financially secure future."
"You know I'm a lawyer right?" She asked with a small laugh. "We're not going to just use your money Troy."
"I know but if something happens."
"Nothing is going to happen to any of us, Troy. It's you and me, kid." Gabriella got up from her chair and took a seat on his lap. "Do you have doubts?"
"Are you going to turn down my marriage proposal again?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.
"You only asked because I got pregnant." She reminded. "When we're in the right place, I will say yes in every single language." She smiled at him. "Do you have any doubts now?"
He shook his head, wrapping his arms around her waist. "No."
"Neither do I." She leaned down, kissing his lips gently. "Stop worrying about us. Our only problem is that you're on the other side of the country."
"You're too good for me." He nuzzled his face in her neck.
"I know." She said with a small smirk. He grabbed her sides, tickling her slightly. She squealed, laughing, and tried to grab his hands. "No, no, no." She grabbed his hands, wrapping them around her nicely. "I was kidding." She leaned her forehead against his.
"I know you were." He kissed her lips lightly. "I love you."
"I love you." She kissed along his cheek to his neck.
"We should finish dinner." He murmured, closing his eyes.
"Mmm, later." She hummed against his neck, kissing along his Adam's apple.
He lifted her chin with his finger. "Baby, finish your dinner." He said with a chuckle.
She sighed, getting up. "Fine." She took a seat in her own chair. She licked her lips, taking a drink of her mixed drink. She took a couple more bites before she watched him eat. She sat up for a second, pulling her dress up without him noticing.
"What do you think of Memphis so far?" He asked, looking up at her.
She shrugged. "It's pretty." She dropped her hands to her lap, hooking her thumbs at the edge of her panties. She shifted, side to side, yanking them down slowly. "How is the team doing?"
"Pretty good. I'm excited for the season to start wrapping up." He explained in between bites.
She smiled, taking a drink. "Me too." She fixed her dress and her panties slid down her legs to her ankles. She took one of her feet out of its shoe and started rubbing his leg slowly. "What do you want to do during the off season?"
"I can't wait to spend as much time as I can with Gray. We're going to be attached at the hip."
She smiled at this. "Good. As our careers take off and I establish myself more, I can get more vacation time and we can visit you more, hopefully."
"Good." Troy grinned.
Gabriella knocked her napkin off the table and leaned down to pick it up. She slid it quickly across the floor to his chair. "Babe, can you get that?"
"Sure." He leaned down to pick up her napkin. She kicked her panties over to him as well, causing him to chuckle. "You are relentless, my girl."
She grinned devilishly and gave him a small shrug. "I don't know what you're talking about."
He got up and walked over to her. He slid his arms under her and carried her into the bedroom silently. He set her on the bed, pulling her dress over her head with one swift move. He shrugged off his jacket and unbuttoned his shirt slowly as he gazed upon all of her naked glory. He stretched out on his bed, making herself comfortable as she watched him undress. He paused just as he was about to unbuckle his belt. "Hold on."
Gabriella watched as he turned to talk out of the room. She slumped down on his bed in disappointment. He left the door open so she could see glimpses of him in the candle light. He was blowing them out one by one as the apartment grew darker. He made his way back to the bedroom and finished undressing.
He crawled up onto the bed after he shed the last of his clothing. He leaned in to press a kiss to her lips. He froze just as his lips touched hers. There was a cheering outside that was muffled by the window. It was followed by a couple loud pops. Troy smiled down at his girl who was waiting eagerly for him.
"Happy New Year, Troy." She said with a soft beautiful smile.
"Happy New Year, Baby." He murmured, pushing all the distractions aside and giving his girl the full attention that she deserved.
