Chapter 20

Paige POV

A few days have passed after the incident and it is already Monday. So here we are sitting at the brew and having a good time to relax. Hanna is fussing me about the school activity on Saturday. I'm really nervous on that contest or whatever they call it but a part of me wants to join there and make my father proud. These past few days he is really exerting much effort to win my trust back.

"So Paige! Do you have something on your mind?" Hanna quizzed me.

"Something for what?" I asked her in confusion.

"For the bidding! You need to sweep them of their feet! Paige, I know that you didn't need anything but it is part of the programme so what's your plan? I can help you" She said without pausing then flashed me a beaming smile. All I did was to sigh. Then I slumped at the chair.

"Hanna, don't put Paige in so much pressure" Spencer said before she give me a smile. Then I nod at her statement.

"She needs to plan or something, if she don't want to be a laughing stuff there on Saturday" Alison pointed out. Yeah Alison has a point in there.

"Yeah Ali is right! So what's your plan Paigey?" Hanna asked me again.

"I don't know, what can you suggest?" I asked them because I really don't have any idea on what should I do in there.

"Ahmm dance?" Emily appears beside me then she put some drinks on our table. She has her shift today so she is not able to sit with us but we decided to what for her shift so we could go together.

"No, NO not that one Em, I have two left feet in here." Then I point at my feet then giggled lightly.

"Yeah dancing is a no, no to Paigey" Hanna said then she laughed.

"What about sing with a guitar or anything." Spencer said excitedly.

"Yeah! That's a great idea!" Emily said excitedly.

"Yeah! I can imagine you there on the stage singing for everybody and sweeping off to their feet." Hanna said and I can see the sparkle in her eyes.

"I want to join to the conversation but I really need to go back to my job" Emily said. I just smiled at her then Hanna Alison and Spencer nod at her.

Emily POV

I'm really excited for the upcoming Saturday based on the previous years the event is really fun and I can't wait to see Paige up in the stage all dressed up for the bidding. I'm grateful that she is okay after the accident at noel Khan's. Hanna didn't stop teasing me the day after.

"Good day" I said without looking at the customer.

"Hi Emily can I have an Americano" I heard a familiar voice

"Oh! Mr. McCullers I didn't know that it is you wait sir I'll prepare your coffee" I said then give him a smile.

"Call me Nick, Emily and thanks" He said then he look around then I guess he spotted Paige.

"It's my job Mr... ahmm Nick" I said then look at the table my friends are occupying

"I'm not talking about the coffee" Nick said then he gave me the McCullers smile.

PAIGE POV.

Someone walk towards our table

"Hi girls" The man greeted us. I know that voice so i turn to look who owns that voice

"Dad! What are you doing here?!" I almost spit the drink due to my surprise.

"Mr. McCullers! Nice to meet you" Alison offer her hands to dad.

"Sorry girls I need to kidnap my daughter from all of you, Are you ready Paige?" Dad said the he smiled at my friends.

"Sure thing Sir but are you going to the event on Saturday?" Hanna asked and I can see the excitement in her eyes. I'am glad that she is willing to give my father a chance but Spencer seems a little tense to our new company. She is just looking intensely at her coffee like it will say something if she will not blink.

"Yeah sure I want to see my Princess sweep the audience from their feet." Dad said then he giggled.

"So we better get going, nice meeting you all" He said

"Bye guys" then when I'm about to leave I look at Spencer and she just give me a strained smile.

EMILY POV

When I look at the table where the girls are seated Paige and Nick are about to leave. Then both of them walk towards me

"Fields I got to go see you tomorrow" Paige said then smiled at me. I returned the smile I look at Nick but he is busy with his phone to my distance I can see the disgust in his face but he smiled when he sees me.

"Okay Paige see you tomorrow do you want me to go to yours first before we head to school?" I asked her. It is our routine I'll stop by at her house to wake her up or give her some breakfast.

"Yeah of course I don't want to miss one of your cooking's" She said then give me her goofy smile.

After that Paige walks outside to join her father.

"Trouble?" I hear Alison I turn to face her with the confused look on my face.

"What trouble?" I asked then I look at the clock and my shift is already done.

"Em what are you waiting for!? Let's go!" Spencer said and she is already at the door of the brew beside Hanna. Alison hugs my arm then whispered

"Coming!" I looked at Alison but she just act like she said nothing earlier

IN THE MORNING

EMILY POV

I'm about to the house of Paige this past month it is always like this I will go to her house to make sure that she won't be late. Before Hanna is the one doing this thing but she said that she need to be somewhere this time in the morning.

I just enter the house because Paige always leaves the backdoor open. I go up to her room but the door is slightly open so I just let myself in. The sight when I enter made me smile Paige is so cute when she is sleeping. She looks so beautiful and innocent she is curled like a ball while the guitar is beside her. I decided clean up first before I wake her. The room is a mess but it is better than the first time I enter her room. When I'm done picking up the take out boxes I go beside her bed to take the guitar in order to return it on its original place.

"Paige" I said softly then shake her arms slowly.

"Hmmmm" She just turns her back to me then hugged the pillow beside her.

"Paige wake up" I said then put my hand on her shoulder. I'm surprised when she grabbed my hand then pulled me. The next thing I saw is two light brown orbs staring at me. I thought that the time stops at that moment and I can just stay there forever looking at the two beautiful eyes inches away from me.

"Sorry" Paige said then she released her grip in my hands. I just sit there then look at the hands on my lap.

"Wow did you clean my room?!" Paige said enthusiastically. I turn around to see her face so I can see her.

"Uhmm yeah it so messy in here, Paige when was the last time you clean this place?" I said when I mind recovered. She just pouted then walks to her closet to prepare something.

"I've been so busy lately this is your entire fault you let me join that contest so I need to prepare for that." Then she looked at me then continued

"And besides I remember that you shouted to everyone at the party that I'm yours" She said then she smiled at me mockingly.

"So it is your part to take care of me, is that for me" She said then walks towards me.

I could not help but blush to what she said. I myself was also stunned to what I said. I really don't know what come to me that I had the guts to say it OUTLOUD.

"Yeah it's for your breakfast, mom said that I should give this to you" Then I hand her the paper bag.

"Wow Fields you're really taking care of me huh?" She said then she raised her brow.

I playfully punched her side

"Enjoy all of this until you can McCullers this won't be forever" I said then give her a genuine smile but as soon as I realized what I say the smile in my face fades away. I'm glad that Paige is so focused on what she is eating and didn't bother to look at me

"Don't say that Fields I really like the way you and your mom are treating me I feel like I belong to a family, I wonder sometimes if your mom can actually adopt me or something so I can always have a taste of your cooking's"

"Don't you enjoy your fathers company?"

"No we're good but it is still different feeling when I'm there in your house, I hope I don't mean to sound creepy but I miss going to your house" She said still busy with her food.

"Why don't you go the there to have dinner with us later asked your dad if he could join too?" I said then she looked at me then she raised her brow again.

"Are you trying to bribe my father with your cooking's so he will sign my adoption papers?!"

"Stop the adoption jokes I don't think that it' is a great idea for us to adopt you" I said seriously

"Why Fields, don't tell me you're starting too like me?" She said then she burst in to laughing.

"Just go to shower, I don't want to be late today" I said then I lay down at her bed then stare at the ceiling.

"Okay, Okay Just wait there, I know that you don't want to miss the program of the mysterious DJ of our school"
