"Oh god thank god you open that door!" I said when Paige opened the door
"What took you so long? Are you still sleeping?!" I continued
"What's that?" She asked
"Oh this, it's a gift" I said then give her my biggest smile
"Here let me take it. Why is this so big?" She asked again
"Oh just open it!" I said then I pushed her on the couch
"easy Fields! Okay okay I'll open it" she said then I stopped her
"Hey! I thought you want me to open it now! you can't get this back! You gave it to me already" She said then pout. God that pout I want to...
"Em? Hey Em what's wrong with you?" She said when I space out
"ahmm what?" Then she raised her brow then pointed the box on the table
"OW! Yeah yeah, No! I'm not taking it back. I just remember that I need to prepare already Spencer give me something to do for today." I said then smiled
"Ahmm Em , did you know if Spencer will attend the party?" She asked then looked at the floor. I touch her shoulder then squeezed it then she look at me
"Paige, to tell you the truth I really don't know but.." But she stopped me from speaking when she put her finger on my lips.
"Don't make a promise to me Em. I don't want you to make some promise then end up breaking it. Having you here is already enough for me" She said
"But..." I tried to argue with her
"No em. I'm not giving up yet I just what you to know how grateful I 'am for having such a wonderful and amazing person like you" She said then she stood up. Then she slowly moved closer to my face. I closed my eyes, afraid to what will happen next then I felt her lips on my forehead.
"Happy birthday Em" She said then I opened my eyes. I saw that she is smiling from ear to ear.
"H-how did you know?"
"I have my sources Fields. So now go! Prepare for that thing I'll just come over later when I'm ready" Then she pushed me out through her door.
Paige POV
"Hello Mrs Fields"
"Oh HI Paige! Wow the suit really fit's on you" Mrs. Fields said then she gave me a bear hug.
"Come in Emmy is about to finish" Pam said then she ushered me to their kitchen.
"Emmy faster! Paige is already here! Check her out she is beautiful!" Pam said then she face me
"I knew it! The suit is so perfect for you!"
"Thanks Pam but you don't have to give me this gift besides it's Emily's birthday today."
"Hey you're like a daughter to me and it's not only my idea Emily is also part of it!"
"Wow! Paige I know that you'll be killing that Tux" I heard emily's voice then I follow where the voice is coming from
"Wow Em you..you look so..." Then I felt her finger on my chin
"Don't leave your mouth open for too long McCullers" She said she walked past me.
"Oh God Emmy! You look so amazing! Right Paige!" I heard Pam then I walked beside Pam to have a better look at Emily this time
"Arkkkk! Your Mouth!" OH God that irritating bird! I looked at tippy and glared at him.
"Arkkk! McMonster!" It's the first time I heard tippy say that then I looked at Pam but she is just pointing Emily.
"What! it fits you and it sounds cute!" Emily said then I can see that her cheeks are turning red.
"Okay okay if you say so. Bye Pam" I said then hugged the older Fields

"Guys just write down your name before you enter and give me the ticket as well!" I hear Hanna's voice
"God! There's a lot of people here" I hear Paige mumbles behind me
"It doesn't matter. There is only one important thing..." I said then I turn around to look at her
"Huh?" She said with confusion all over her face
"There is something you need to do tonight get it!?" I said firmly
"Oh yeah! I know" She said and I can see the determination in her face
I saw that she touch her pocket like making sure something is still in there.
"Yes I'm ready" She said then smiled at me
PPOV
"Hey Everybody! Thanks for coming out tonight for this party planned by the God of broken hearts! Just enjoy yourself because this is our last day here at school before the Christmas break! I want all of you to have a wonderful time tonight so let's party!"
"Spence?" I say to myself then I walk towards that person.
"Paige!" I stopped on my tracks when someone pull me into a hug
"Oh Han I didn't saw you there" I say then glance at the girl not a few meters away from me but when she turns around to face my direction I saw that she is not the girl I'm looking for
"Hey what are you looking at?" Hanna said then she look around as well
"Ahmm n-nothing" I said then she faced me again
"Oh! Right wait! I haven't seen Ali and Emily yet! We're are they?" She said
"W-well I don't know but I guess I saw a glimpse of Them a while ago"
Yeah where did Emily go she is just here with me a while ago. I think to myself. Then suddenly the lights turned off then a spotlight focused on the stage and everyone stopped talking and the whole venue was enveloped with silence.
You came along, unexpectedly
I was doing fine in my little world
I turn around and starred up at the stage. I know who owns that voice but I want to make sure so I walk towards the stage.

The girl sitting in her bed just sit there and stared at the nothingness in front of her, contemplating what thing to do.

"Hi Paige" I heard someone call my name
"Oh HI Alison" I said when I saw that it is Alison
"Did you like our number?" She asked then she grabbed the drink in my hand
"Uhmm yeah you're so amazing up there when did you practice for this?" I asked her then try to look around
"It was a secret, and I'm always good at keeping one" Then she winked at me
"By the way where is Em? I could tell she tried her best there" I asked her when I don't see Emily anywhere
"Emily left already" She simply answered
"huh?"
"You didn't know?"
"Ohh, ahh"
"Seriously you didn't notice? She said she is going to Spencer's place" She said then she looked at me
"She said she is going to get Spencer here then call it a night" She continued
"W-why is she doing this? Why is she going home?" I asked her but she turned around so I'm facing her back
"I don't know maybe there is something she'd rather not see. That is why I give you some advice She said firmly
"Advice?" I asked in confusion
"I told you to stop this pathetic game! Whatever!" She glared then walked out
"Alison!"
"God! He didn't even listen to me back then" I hear Alison mumbled
"Is this all right?" I asked myself
"Paige let's dance!" I hear Hanna calling me out.
"Wait Han! I need to go" I said then run off
EPOV
"Is that it? Are you sure Spence? Are you sure about that? Paige said that she is not leaving the school she is already preparing to live at school just to wait for you!" I remember my conversation with Spencer when I go straight to her house.
I'm sorry Spence I know it's that you don't want her right? I understand, because we're best friends there was no other choice. I'm sorry
"So I guess I'm alone in again in my birthday this year. I'll also be alone in the next year and the next and next and forever I'll never have someone to rely on and I'll be all alone " I softly mumble and then I the exhaustion devour me and I fell in to a dreamless sleep
Bang!,,.bang!,,Bang!
I woke up suddenly to the sound coming from my window.
"What was that?" I stood up then go to the source of the loud banging sound
I slowly walked towards the window holding the baseball bat Spencer owned. Then the banging repeats again.
"What do you want!" I stutter then I walked slowly and then I opened the curtain then saw a mascot outside my window
"What! what the..." I immediately opened the window and then pulled the bear mascot inside my room.
When we are already in my room I saw then the bear acts like panting. I try to touch its shoulder but it looks up at me
"Are...are you okay?" I softly ask the mascot standing in front of me
The creature nods it big head then gives me a thumbs up. I can't help but laugh at this antics.
"Hahaha. What's this? Hahaha. " I laughed so hard then I saw then the bear is scratching its head.
"Hey come here! I want to show you something" I said then pull the bear to our living are
"Look isn't it beautiful?" I ask the mascot when I point at the Christmas tree made from origami that my mom and I did. I look again to the bear beside me then she put up thumbs up again
"I know you'd like it!" I said then hugged the creature.
"Yey! I know this would be the best birthday ever!" I said then I pulled the bear again but it stopped me from my tracks then it pulled me in to its arms then lifts me up.
"Wha..what are you!" I said then I felt that the bear is starting to turn around while it is lifting my weight
I can't stop the giggles. So I just enjoy the sensation and let the moment takes over my emotion. I fell so happy and contented like everything is in its right place.
This is real right? Or is this just a dream did I really woke up or everything is still part of my dream?
Then we fell on the floor with a loud thump. And the scarf around my neck also fell. I try to get up then I saw that I'm straddling the bear and it is beneath me.
"Thank you" I say seriously then I hugged the bear again then I push myself straight up again.
"Thank you" I repeats again then I removed the head costume of the mascot.
"Very much Paige" I said when I already removed the costume she is starring directly in to my eyes then when she realize that I took of the costume she reach for it but I moved it out of her reach
"Hey give it back! You idiot! Give it back!" She screamed still struggling underneath me
"SO how did you get this thing? Huh Paige? " I asked her then she stopped moving then lay her back on the floor
"I..I just borrow this from the guy somewhere there " She said not looking at me
"W-where is your suit?" I asked her
"Owww don't worry I'll get it back later"
"Arghhh you took it off when it was just about to begin! Stupid" I said then get off of her
"Even if I planned everything for you even if you had a chance to meet Spencer!" I said then turn my back to her
"What do you mean stupid?" She asked me
"Didn't I tell you leave everything to me! Spencer is on her way to the party she is probably there Come on hurry you can still make it if you move faster" I encourage her but still not looking at her direction
"b-but I already change my outfit a-and I-I don't want to leave you all by yourself" She said then I was taken aback but I make sure to regain my composure immediately so I turned around to face her
"what are you saying? I'm fine now!" I said then I saw that she looks up at me this time
"I'm looking forward for tomorrow if everything go as to my plan I will treat you!" I said then pull her up
"Come on! Hurry! You don't have enough time"
"B-But!" She tried to argue but I cut her off immediately
"If Spencer go there and you're not, she'll think I lied to her right?" I pushed her out through the door
"Come on!" I said
"Hey! Wait!"
"You've done enough for me Paige now let me do something for you" I said then look at her
"Getting Spencer to the party is my gift for you so please accept it" I said then smiled at her genuinely
"Em" She said but I pushed her hard
"Now go get your girl!" I said
She nods her head
"Thanks Em you're the best"
she said then kissed my forehead then runs off. I watched her run towards the direction of the school my smile slowly vanished then I slowly closed the door then walked to the living area.
"She finally left" I said loudly to myself. Then I saw the red scarf Paige let me burrow. I sit on the floor then took it
"I forgot to give this back to her" I said then I looked at the red scarf on my hands. I saw then something wet fell on it.
"Huh?" I looked at it again but my vision is starting to get blurred am I crying? I touched my cheeks and I felt the tears streaming down my face.
"But why?" I asked myself.
Yeah, I see I was always relying on Paige. On her kindness... But those times have passed. Spencer will fall for Paige and Paige truly likes Spencer. In other words, they both like each other. Then I won't be able to stay by Paige's side anymore. I won't be able to walk by his side. The one beside Paige won't be me. I don't...want that.
A lot of things are running inside my head everything is in fast-forward I remember all the good times Paige and I shared. Everything we did together. I don't know what to do so I just run downstairs hoping to catch up on Paige.
"Paige!" I screamed but she is not answering I run towards the door I can't still see clearly because of the tears on my vision. But it didn't stop me from reaching Paige
"Paige!" I screamed again when I'm already outside the house. Still there is no sign of her.
"Paige, Paige" That is all I could muster and then I can't stand the weight of what I feel so I break down there outside. Thinking about the thing that I've let go again
I just sit there calling her name but she is not coming I think this is the first time that she never show up when I call her name.
"Paige, Paige" I repeated still crying my heart out

A brunette girl with the pale complexion stood out of the light watching her best friend breakdown.
She just stood there speechless, this is the first time she can't find a word to describe what she feels the first time that she feels like she don't have the upper hand and everything is falling in front of her eyes and she don't know what to do about it. She just stood there watching everything fall and breakdown not knowing what to do next.

"Arghhh this really suck! I didn't even bring my cell phone and my present for Spencer is still in the suit" I think out loud
"Arghhh what should I do" I said then I closed my eyes.
"Isn't it a great bear" I hear someone say then I automatically looked at the source of the sound
"Hey." I saw Spencer standing there a few feet away from me. I can't see all her feature. Nothing but her eyes.
"Ahhh hi" I say then I stand up
"Ahhh Spence..." I mumbled
"Paige" She cut me off
"I'm sorry but let me speak first" She said then I just looked at her
"DO you still remember that? When we were at Alison's vacation house we had a talk that night about weird things, right" She said then she looked up at the sky. It was about the ghosts"
"Y-Yeah " I simply answered
"You know Paige, About the ghost, I really think I shouldn't see them" She said then she looked at the ground
"I think it'd be best not to see them I've been thinking about it a lot recently and this is what I decided I wanted to tell you that. That's why I came here" she finished
"Spence" I softly say
"Sorry for just saying what I wanted to say, I 'll be leaving first" Then she salutes me but I can't see her face. Then she turns around and then runs off.
"Seriously, Wait did did I just" I said out loud again
"Did I just get rejected?" I said then I fell on the ground. I just stare at the blank sky. Then later the snow just started to fall.
