Hello dear reads, we are having another solo chapter before we head of with the story. This time under the spot line are Raven and The Techpriest.
Chapter 15: Truth and Knowledge.
In the library of the den of Team chaos Raven finally found some piece and quite so she can recollect her self, yesterday was way draining for her. Not only worrying for the well being of Beast Boy, but from enduring the ego contest between Gizmo and that Earth Controlling punk who Beast boy forced her to work with. She still had a headache from the screaming. Now she welcomed the silence of this treasure of knowledge, She was currently enjoying a old Tome written about some myths in mayan culter.
Sadly this silence did not last so long. From far Ravencould hear the approaching half machine half man. For her the Techpriest was probably the quietest of the bunch, but his devotion to the machine ...disturbed her. Unlike the Cyborg she knew, this man was relishing each modification of his body, even to the point of offering to all for some. He did not force anything, but to Raven only the thought of replaving living healthy tissue with machine for praising the said machine felt wrong.
She did not lowered her book until she felt him looming over her. The Techpriest did not said anything. Raven knew quite well that he meant well by not interrupting her from her reading, but his creeper effect was surpassing hers. The empath closed her book and gave him a deadpan stare. With that permanent creepy grin The cult member started to speak:
-I am sorry to interupt your search for knowledge, but I need assistance in a knowledge quest I have deem worthy of seeking.-From his backpack machine a paper article started to print out. When the page was printed he handed It to her-I talked first to the honorable Gizmo about this article and he quote said "Talk ta da cruddy book worm demon, she snotting crawling with that stuff". Have you seen that symbol ever?
-Remind me to slap Gizmo fo...-Ravens words left her mouth and her expression changed to shock. She stood up and grabbed the paper to double check if sha was not mistaken.
"Today the museum of fine art had uncovered a ancient scripture with unkown content. As much as the scientist at the museum tried to open it, seal on top prevented it from happening. For that tomorrow the authorities are sending the scroll to the Justiece League for protectionfrom foul play."
And beneath the Text a picture of a moldy old scroll with decorated decoration of the seal was the same as rRaven's father's accursed mark. The mark of Trigon.
Raven reread the small article again and again to her disbelief. Why was such a thing on earth? Was this some kind of fake? Her mind was going in full motion.
-"Empath Raven...-when she faced the forgotten Techpriest she was surprised to see that she had unleashed a bit too much emotions. Two encased in dark matter books were banging the side of his mechanical bulk, for whom he apparently did not give a damn.
-Sorry.-Raven regained controll over her emotion and stopped the flying assaulting objects.-And yes. I have seen this mark. It the Mark of Trigon the Terrible, My father. A deamon from a flaming demon dimension. But how did this managed to get here...-Raven was caught of guard when she felt the half iron giant turn on his heels and stormout towards the exit. Raven quickly followed trying to catch up to she finally caught to him she asked even thought she knew the answer.-Where are you going?
-Knowledge is power. Such a tome should be in possession of the Cult Of be guarded by true seekers of knowledge.-He lead the two exited the library heading towards the Pub and city.
-Take me with you!-Raven demanded out of character-I am too curios what is on it.
-Then follow and let the hunt commence.- he said with passion and zeal.
Later that night infront of the museum Raven and the Techpriest appeared valued by their hoods. The street on which they were had no life and all the windows were darken by the night.
Raven started to scan the building for life with her empathy, but found none. She gave a signalling nod to the Techpriest who return it. Both approached the front massive wooden doors. The cult folloeer did not take his time and with his mechanical arm ripped one of the doors, splintering it to nothing but wooden chunks. This was quickly followed by him dashing to the security control behind the door . Again with his mechanical hand he tore of the panel housing the security.
This bought the two five minutes to reach room housing the scroll. As the two traversed the hallways The Techpriest noticed Raven was lost in her mind walking on out pilot with a puzzled, but still null expression.
-What seems to be baffling you, Empath Raven?
Raven jumped a bit startled but after regaining her composure she answered:
-Oh...I am still trying to figure out did this scroll ended here on earth?
-Maybe Trigon lived on Earth before his demonhood.
-He was Not! He was born a Demon...like mine part of me.-she retorted stomping angrily.
-Demons are never born. All the the demons the cult has recorded throughout the ages were consumed by their sins and faults causing their ascend towards demonhood. Those born of them during or before demonhood called demon only because fear and lack of knowledge.
Raven froze for a minute taking in that logic, considering his words. She was brought back to reality by the sound of another door being torn open and a shout. The techpriest had climbed up the stairs and had turned a corner.-I have found the scroll!
Raven dashed up the stairs heading towards the room with the destroyed door. Two steps she before could reach the room, the Techpriest clutching the scroll was tossed againts the opposing wall out side of the room. The techpriest robes had been sundered and ashed, but still nothing on him caught fire. From the room slowly came a man draped in a red trench coat and a big red mafia fedora. His bandaged hands which held small flame dancing around his fingers pointed towards the slumped to the ground Cultist. He seemed to have not noticed Raven as he began to taunt:
-How pitiful. A bug like you touching a tool for greatness.-If his head was not bandaged and wore googles over his eyes Raven would have seen his grinning smile.-Now hand over the Magus scripture before I start to melt you. Slowly.
-Hey.-Raven shouted extending her hand towards the man in red forming a force energy ball.
The moment he turned to see who was calling the force ball in raven hand flew of towards him. He did not flinched, forming a flame shield around him self consuming the projectile. Raven cursed under breath preparing to get a fire ball from this apperent fire wizard, but instead he just started to walk towards her slowly:
-I've been trully blessed. On the same day I found my true gift from Trigon the magos, the fates decided to send me my demon bride to be.-Raven tried to toss wooden pieces from the torn door engulfed in dark energy, but were quickly consumed by the fire shield of approaching wizard.- I have been seeking for you since you left the Titans care. Now why don't take that scroll, I acsend to my true form and you become my dear and sweet demon queen as I take rule of this galaxy. -he was in Raven face just inches from het. Still Raven became calmer for some reason even though all her attacks failed.-Now my queen, Say you love me and lets burn together forever.
- How about instead I say "Turn Around".-Raven said in perfect calmness.
Before the poor bastard could turn around a chainsword bigger then him was shoved in his chest lifting him in the air as the blades of the chainsaw blade played hop-scotch with his innered, but he did not die. He shooked in pain and blood gushed like a fountain from his wound. He turned his head to see the Techpriest holding him in the air as his chainsaw sword ripped the mage appart piece by piece.
-Blll...ghhhhh... I...I won...won't forget this, yo...you lowsome insect. Alehandra! -the wizzard gurgled out while trying not to drown on his blood. Suddenly his entire body combusted in flame and disappeared as the flame rapidly ate his presence. Both of the Titans were locked in shock.
Raven was first to speak.-Did you really need to that! That could kill a normal person.
-He was a few steps from becoming a full fledge demon and if he had his attention on me, there was no salvation for nobody Still thank you for saving me.
-True and thank you too for saving me from taking the road of my mother...But what now?-Raven decided that the entirety of the university was more important then one life, since She would do the same.
The Techpriest lifted up the scroll showing he still had it:-We take this back at Library.
Back at the library The Techpriest placed the scroll on a large podium in the middle of the knowledge vault. He turned towards Raven after giving a few scans with his mechanical eyes:
-The seal could be broken only with blood. Yours.
-Is it wise to open it? You heard what that ...man said. We could unleash hell and turn trully evil.-Raven questioned scared.
-To fear something does not answer questions, only deepens them. Knowledge opens eyes, knowledge defeats all corruption, Knowledge never needs faith to be true. If you wish for us not to open this, then I will not pressure you to do so.- The large half man stepped aside from the podium.
To his surprise Raven stepped forward and with a sharp quail which was on the podium from the start bled her thinger.-Fear had me once. I am not to be controlled by it.-A single droplet landed on the seal. The seal engulfed in a green flame evaporated . Raven grabbed one side of the scroll and and motion to the other side to the Techpriest- Care, to aid me in reading this?
He nodded and grabbed the other end of the scroll. Together they unwrapped it and began to study it for hours. The scripture of Trigon...
