Chapter 18: fights, apologize and a possible solution.
"I am sorry, but I do not know who any of you are." Kori apologized.
Dick gulped a lump in his throat and realized he wasn't even breathing anymore. The world seemed to be spinning. It was all a daze, and Dick prayed that he heard wrong. Standing up, he took a wobbly step towards the bed where Wally quickly took note of, and ran to support him. Crouching down on his knees, Dick stared straight in Koris eyes where they looked at him with confusion.
"Are you sure you don't remember me? Cmon Star, please remember!" Richard begged with a desperate longing tone in his voice. Kori nervously glanced around and closed her eyes tightly.
Digging deep into her mind, Kori saw flashes. They were like smeared figures with no sounds or faces, but a bit of recognition. it was all a web of confusion and lost memories that she had no name for. Thinking made her head hurt, but she wanted to try. The mysterious nameless figures in her mind seemed too distant at the moment, as they seemed to drift off from her grasp each time she reached. With a heavy sigh, Kori growled and snapped her eyes open to see all eyes in the room looking at her with anticipation.
Especially from the boy who continued to call her Star.
"I cannot recall any of you at the moment." Kori replied with sadness dripping from every word.
That sentence right there seemed to tip the almighty Dick Grayson. Feeling all conciousness drain from his body, Richard collapsed to the floor unconscious. Why? Well when the woman you love so much with every fiber of your being is suddenly seeing you as a stranger, you'd most likely pass out too.
"NURSE!" Wally screamed in total panic. Griping his hair , he began to feel his pulse quicken at everything that was happening. Glancing back down at the now crying Kori, and the passed out Dick, Wally was now tired of waiting for that nurse.
"NURSE!" Wally screeched in rage. The nurse still didn't seem to come as Wally began to growl and kick the chairs inside the room.
"Wally, calm down!" Jenn screamed. She had never seen this side of Wally. None of the group had. It was always the polite, witty, cocky speedster, not the panicking , anger driven man they saw before them.
"Calm down? Calm down?! Jenn, look around you! My best friend is on the ground passed out, a great friend of mine is suffering from memory loss because of some sick bastirds that abducted her and Rachel, and on top of that, we've been shot at! " Wally retorted. Jenn's pink eyes widened slightly in horror.
It seemed that Wally had been holding in all of his emotions bottled up inside of him, and Dick passing out had just popped the raging sea of emotions. Wally was actually a pretty cool laid back guy, but mess with his loved ones he would be on you less then a second. He did not like what was happening right now and that was a good summary. In fact he wish he could have tooken Kori's place.
"Wally..." Jenn began. Just as Wally turned to her, the nurse walked in with several assistants.
"Finally! What took y'all so long?!" Wally growled snapping on the employees. They seemed to be taken back by the tone, but soon gained their composure and cleared their throat.
"Sir, we apologize to you for any inconvenience , but if I must inform you there are other patients in this hospital and if you do not change that attitude, I must ask you to leave." A nurse with thick curly brown hair retorted. Wally narrowed his eyes at her and just as he was about to respond Rachel had shoved a ball of paper towels in his mouth making him choke.
"Enough." Rachel demanded with her famous death glare. Turning to the nurse she quickly apologized for Wally's behavior and bidded her off.
Spitting out the ball of paper that was in his mouth, Wally quickly turned his anger on Rachel.
"Why did you do that?!" Wally hissed. Gar who was right beside her, instantly disliked the tone and immediately got between Wally and Rachel.
"Dude you need to chill out. This isn't Rachel's fault and if you snap on her again your going to have to deal with me." Gar growled. Wally glared at Gar, before quickly walking out the room with haste.
"I am so sorry." Kori whispered after a moment of silence. Rachel turned to her with a small sad smile.
"It's not your fault any of this is happening. We all really care about you and the fact that you can't remember us is pretty hard to take in." Rachel assured before releasing a heavy sigh.
"Oh. What is your name?" Kori asked.
Rachel tooken back by her curiosity, quickly masked her emotions and turned a bit to see Jenn running out to retrieve Wally as everyone else began to gather around the bed.
"I'm Rachel Roth. I was your roommate inside the house and you and these people are actually the few people I like." Rachel commented as Kori released a small giggle.
"And she liked me the best! Right Rae?" Gar comented throwing his arm around a blushing Rachel.
"Don't call me Rae." Rachel replied. Gar losing all seriousness in the situation gave Kori a wide toothy grin.
"I'm the incredible Gar! We're almost like brothers and sisters Kor, and we both eat tofu waffles!" Gar stated proud. It was true that over the summer Kori and Gar had eaten breakfast together on a few occasions and consumed tofu waffles on which Gar was ecstatic about.
Kori smiled kindly at him and took note that the two seemed to be a couple. She felt her smile widen at Rachel and Gar. They were a really cute couple.
"Hey lil lady, I'm Victor Stone." Vic greeted with a sad smile. He really wished Kori would remember.
"And I'm Karen Beecher, but you and everyone else just call me Bee." Karen said with a warm tone. Kori saw the two seemed like a couple and that's what she assumed. Victor and Karen seemed very close.
"I'm Garth." Garth said extending his hand for Kori to shake. Kori timidly shook it, as a pale girl popped up behind Garth.
" I'm Toni love!" Toni introduced with a smile. Taking Kori in a hug, Kori felt as if she and her were pretty close along with the rest of the girls.
"Roy Harper!" Roy exclaimed.
"I'm Jennifer Hex, but just call me Jenn Kori." Jenn called entering the room with a now normal Wally. Kori beamed at everyone as Wally smiled widely.
"And I'm your best friend Kori! The names Wallefer Rudolph West, but everyone just calls me the wall man." Wally greeted.
"No we don't." The group said in unison as Wally glared at all of them and earned a giggle from Kori.
"Kill joy! Well since they won't play along Im Wally." Wally grumbled. It was a chorus of snickers that followed after a bit of silence. Then Kori remembered something.
" I believe we were the friends yes?" Kori asked.
"Friends? No lil lady, we were a family!" Victor bellowed.
"Were?" Roy questioned.
"Pfft. No! We still are! " Wally chimed in.
"And we'll always be!" Gar added pulling a smiling Rachel closer ito him.
"Forever?" Kori asked hopeful.
"Forever." Karen assured with a wink.
"We may have come together on some odd terms, but even after all the shit we've been through in this show, I'd do it all over agin just because of you guys." Wally stated.
"I just did it for the money, but if I knew what I was getting myself into, I would have done it for free if it meant meeting you guys." Jenn admitted.
"Us too." Victor and Karen said pulling everyone closer to the bed.
"Would you do it again Rachel?" Gar asked as everyone turned to her. She gave a soft smile in response.
"I could tolerate all of you again." Rachel responded earning chuckles from the group.
"Me too. You guys are fun!" Toni added.
"yeah!" Garth and Roy yelled in unison.
"Lil Lady, I'm afraid your stuck with this crazy, dysfunctional bunch of people for a family. Is that cool?" Victor asked with a smirk.
"It is glorious!" Kori immediately responded as everyone laughed.
"Don't worry Kori. Your memory will come back eventually, but even if it doesn't you will always be in this family. We're gonna do everything in our power to get you your memory back. Right guys?" Rachel asked. Without hesitation, the room was filled with agreements and a bit of snickers that followed.
"To family!" Wally exclaimed putting a hand in Jenn's and the other in Kori's. The group smiled as they all began to yell in unison.
"To family!"
After a heart warming family moment, the producers were informed on the situation and the group took Kori to the mansion.
Richard had woken up ten minutes ago, and sat in the passenger seat of Victor's SUV with a stoic face. Of course he was happy that Kori was beginning to get comfortable with the group again. In fact he was hoping that this trip to the mansion might help her jog up her memories. Still, the fact she could not recall a single memory of their time together broke Richard's heart greatly.
Pulling up to the massive real estate, Victor, Dick, and Wally who had tagged along jumped out the vehicle. Walking inside, they saw Kori talking with the girls inside of Kori and Rachel's room.
Leaving them be, Dick walked quickly to his bed room and closed the door. Of course he wanted to help Kori. He loved her, but that was the problem. Seeing her made his heart wrench knowing that he couldn't kiss her or hug her or tell her all the things he wished. It was just too much to handle.
Locking the door to his room, Richard walked to the bed and slumped down. Feeling his heart wither inside, he covered his eyes with a pair of dark sunglasses and focused on a small piece of hope. Maybe, just maybe Kori could get her memory back, but for now his heart was under lock and key.
Two weeks.
Two weeks is how long Richard was dead to the world. A boy who was walking, breathing yet not alive. He was truly not living if Kori was not with him. He really had no idea how he was living without her all these years.
He always looked forward to the sunrise with her, but now he dreaded the sunrise. It was just another reminder that it was another day without her. The pain was getting stronger everyday to where it was all he felt. Hope seemed to be something that seemed to mock him on a false promise. It was really hard on Dick and he honestly had no idea how close to his breaking point he was.
Kori was trying though so he couldn't blame her. She had been going to a brain specialist and taking therapy, but she still did not seem to remember a thing. It was hard on everyone, and they had tried what they could. Dick had not left his room for the entire two weeks since the incedent, while everyone else seemed to continue to give Kori sad smiles.
Was this really happening? Was Dick having to be put through so much trouble, and fall in love with a girl only to have his life messed up then go through hell now that the fact his girlfriend was lost. It was just too much pain.
"DICK! GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW OR IM GONNA KICK IT DOWN HERE!" Victor yelled. This made Richard slightly surprised. For the first week Dick had been pestered by their friends until he snapped on them on which they began to leave him alone assuming he needed his space. Him being called had to mean something.
Getting out of bed, Richard walked down the large stairs to see all of his friends standing In the commons.
"What?" Dick asked with an irritated tone. Wally frowned at that.
"seriously? I don't see you for weeks, and when I do the first thing you say is 'what?'" Wally growled. He loved Dick, he truly did , but seeing him like this also made the speedster act differently.
"Well why the hell did you call me down here for! Is that better Wally?" Dick hissed making the scarlet haired boy step towards Dick with a fire in his eyes.
"What's your problem Dick?! We're trying to help Kori out, while all you do is sit on your ass and mope in your room all day!" Wally yelled in rage.
"My problem is that the woman I love doesn't even remember me! "Dick retorted in the same tone of anger.
"Well I haven't seen you try to help her!" Wally shot back.
"Don't you even say that. Dont you fucking dare say that I don't want to help her. " Dick growled with his fists clenched.
"Well what have you done?! I have not seen you once since the fucking accident and have you even tried to talk to Kori!" Wally shouted.
"What good will that do?! It'll just hurt me more and confuse her!" Dick spat with venom in front of Wally's face. The two best friends were face to face with fire in their eyes and fists clenched.
"BOTH OF YOU STOP IT!" Rachel screamed making Wally and Dick instantly cease their arguing.
Both friends turned to see Rachel breathing ragged breaths and a glare that made you want to pee your pants. Gar even looked scared at his girlfriend. Note to self, never make Rachel angry. Releasing a deep breath she turned to the two recently arguing males with narrow violet eyes.
"You two are acting like idiots. Arguing isin't going to solve anything. Especially Kori's memory lost." Rachel informed reclaiming her usual calm composure. Wally and Dick instantly stood up straighter and held faces filled with shame at their actions. Fighting with your best friend was never alright. Turning to Dick Wally sighed.
"I'm sorry Dick. I know how much you love her, and I'm sorry I didn't think about how this is affecting you." Wally apoligized. Dick turned to his best friend with a hesitant expression before rubbing his hands through his thick black hair.
" I'm sorry too Wally. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. And your right I should have been trying to help Kori this whole time instead of blocking everybody out by hiding in my room." Dick apologized.
Wally gave a huge grin at his best friend of ten years.
"We are still friends right boss?" Wally asked with a smile and a raised eyebrow.
"Did we ever stop?" Dick asked with a smirk. Wally's smile widened in size as he opened his arms. The group who had watched the whole scene smiled fondly at the moment.
"Come on Dickie -boy." Wally coaxed with a smirk and began to wave his hands in a motion for Dick to come forward. Dick shook his head and chuckled at the action.
"No Wally, I'm good." Dick refused making Wally take a large step forward.
"You know you want one. It won't hurt! " Wally assured with a small laugh.
"Nah! I'm good Wally. I don't want one." Dick replied taking a step back.
"Bro hug! Bro hug! Bro hug!" Wally chanted. Gar snorted at the scene as Dick chuckled at Wally's antics.
"Oh alright! Fine!" Dick finally agreed. Wally squealed in delight and tackled Dick in a bro hug as the boys chuckled and several of the girls pulled out their phones to take pictures of the moment.
"Alright! Alright! Get off me!" Dick exclaimed pushing a clingy Wally off of him. The group laughed as Wally began to pout. Releasing a chuckle, Dick turned to the group.
"I'm sorry for me not being there for her guys. I'm thankful y'all have been trying to help out Kori when I was too dumb to see I should have been there for her." Dick apologized. Victor smiled as did everyone else.
"Dude. Your talking as if she's dead or something. It's not too late for you to help her. That's why we called you down here!" Gar stated as the girls and boys began to chime in with agreements.
"Well technically Victor called him down here." Wally pointed out.
"And it was more a threat then a request." Roy added with a smirk. Victor sheepishly smiled as Dick turned to Victor.
"Why did you call me down here?" Dick asked as everyone began to grin.
"We think that we've found a way to get Kori's memory back."
and cut! wow that was crazy! Whoop! Whoop! Anyways next chapter: what is the gang up to? Will Kori ever get her memory back? Will someone come between Gar and Rachel's relationship?! And will Robin ever get his star back? Find out next chapter on teens life a reality!
