A/N: WOOH! Okay this is literally my favorite chapter. It was so good that I actually cried at my own parts. Hehe, hope you enjoy my duckies!
Disclaimer: I don't own teen titans, but I do own the show Teen's life.
Chapter 19: love conquers all
"Wait a minute! That's y'all's plan to get Kori's memory back?" The producer of the show, Teen's life asked surprised.
"Yeah it is!" Gar cheered enthusiastically.
"And what if it doesn't work? Then you would've done all of that for nothing." The producer pointed out. Wally widened his eyes and quickly covered the producers mouth with his hand making the man raise an eyebrow.
"Shh! Don't talk like that bro. If Dickie- boy over there hears all of this negative crud then he'll go back to acting like an emotional wreck again." Wally whispered.
Victor, Gar, and Wally all stood with the producers in a separated room in the mansion conversing with them about their plan to get Kori's memory back, as the rest of the gang stood out in the hallway.
"Uh huh... Well then, when do you plan to do all of this?" The producer asked raising his thick black eyebrow. Wally grinned.
"As soon as Legs comes back home from her usual therapy session." Wally replied.
"You sure this is a good idea? It may trigger some bad memories instead of the ones you actually want to come back." Brianna replied with a frown. She had talked with Kori and the girls before, after the entire kidnapping incident and didn't want anymore traumatic drama to happen. They had been through enough already and just needed to relax.
"Positive. Besides if my bro back there doesn't get his girl back soon, then he's gonna go wacko." Wally joked, jerking a thumb back towards Dick.
"Alright..." Brianna and the other producer agreed hesitantly.
The three boys smiled widely as they all trudged back into the hallway with good news.
"So, what did they say?" Jenn asked.
"They said yes dude!" Gar exclaimed happily gaining relieved and delighted looks.
"Well, where do we start then?" Karen asked jumping up and down excitedly.
"Let's go into the living room and plan it out before Kori comes back. That way as soon as she gets home we'll all be prepared." Roy suggested.
"Alrighty then!" Wally yelled trotting off to the living room with an extra bound to his step, as the rest of the group followed. Wally was positive that this plan would work, and if it didn't then he was certain that Kori was a goner. He sure hoped it all went according to plan, because if not, then he had to not only worry about Kori's sake, but Richard's as well.
"I sure hope this works." Richard muttered hopefully.
Kori exited her small purple car and sighed. She was getting no where and it seemed that these therapy sessions were just a waste of time. She had gone to a brain specialist earlier in the week and asked if there was any possible way for her to get her memory back. She recalled that he stated it would come back when her memory was jogged, but even after hearing stories of the past and seeing pictures, not a single thing clicked inside her mind.
It was extremely frustrating.
As Kori walked out of the driveway, she stopped mid step and took out her phone to stare somberly at the screen saver. It was that boy who had called her Star when she had first awoken. He was holding the phone and held a large breathtaking smile on his face, as his other arm was wrapped around her thin waist. She saw that she was kissing his cheek in the photo on which, was the cause of him smiling in the picture. The background seemed to be outside though. Almost as if they were somewhere high...
She then became angry. She looked so happy, and yet she couldn't recall a single detail on that day. In fact she couldn't remember anything about him. All she knew about him was that he was Dick Grayson. Of course, everybody knew who Dick Grayson was, but apparently on what her friends had told her, he was much more then that to her.
A frustrated growl escaped her lips as Kori shoved the phone into her back pocket and marched to the steps. She was tired of this memory loss and was just wanting to remember and understand everything she had experienced here again. Her 'family' had told her she was struck by a crowbar on the back of her head, on which she suffered a short coma, a fractured skull, and this cursed memory loss. She was astonished by the fact, and continued to question everything as she soon found out what had happened to her and Rachel. She was mortified, but yet still could not comprehend how something as traumatic as that could be lost in her mind.
Opening the door, Kori saw all of her friends and even the boy she could not get out of her mind sitting on the couch. A flash or rather a zap seemed to struck Kori at the sight as a bit of familiarity came to her. The visions of her reenacting things with the figures who had no faces suddenly became a bit clearer. Walking slowly to the common area, Victor took notice of her and grinned.
"Hey Kori! Come over here so we can play a game!" Victor called. Kori smiled and walked towards the main area and sat down between Rachel and Dick.
"Please, what game are we participating in?" Kori asked curios as to why Victor had a football in his hands.
"Guess." Victor responded as Kori scrunched her eyebrows. Dick smiled at the cute expression of Kori concentrating.
"Is it the game of the balls of foot?" Kori asked.
"Nah lil lady, it ain't football. We're gonna toss the ball around and ask each other questions to learn more about each other." Victor explained making Kori mutter an "oh".
"Alright, this will be a short game since we got the whole day planned for us, got it?" Victor questioned.
"Just throw the ball already." Rachel droned making Victor frown.
"Fine. Catch!" Victor yelled as Rachel caught the ball with ease. Looking at Victor she rose an eyebrow.
"What?" Rachel asked.
"What do you like best about grass stain?" Victor asked making Gar frown before looking at a blushing Rachel.
"I like how he's sweet, and considerate, and loves me for who I am." Rachel answered throwing a small smile at Gar who returned the gesture.
"Okay, okay enough with the gushy nonsense! Pass the ball to someone already!" Toni yelled as she was quickly caught off guard by the ball crashing into her chest.
"Why do you and Garth always make out in the pool? I mean if you are going to display that, then you should do it somewhere more private." Rachel monotoned as Garth and Toni blushed beet red while Dick, Victor, Gar, Roy, and Wally all chuckled.
"I don't know. Garth just gets more frisky in the water and when he kisses me it's just like..." Toni began as people grimaced.
"NOPE! LA, LA, LA, LA, LA! I'M NOT LISTENING!" Wally yelled covering his ears trying his best to tune out the unwanted description.
"And when he touches me it's just-" Toni was quickly cut off by a flustered Garth who covered her rambling mouth shutting her up.
"I think we should move on to the next game." Garth suggested.
"What?! We only did two questions though!" Roy pouted.
"Next game." Garth countered with a glare making the red head roll his eyes.
"He's right. We still have a whole bunch to get through." Dick stated standing and walking to the patio.
"Ooh, may I inquire on which game we play next?" Kori chirped enjoying the fun. Wally grinned.
"Truth or dare."
After a short game of truth or dare the results were not that permanent, but still ridiculous. Wally wore a pair of volley balls under his shirt, claiming that his fake boobs were his quote," my lovely lady lumps." Victor and Dick ended up racing their cars on which Victor won, Roy and Garth had to spar each other with sticks saying they were light sabers, Rachel was dared to wear a pink dress, Gar had to act like an animal the entire game, Karen and Toni had to wear no makeup, Jenn had jumped out of a high palm tree, and Kori had to drink a whole bottle of mustard on which she actually enjoyed.
Now the group stood in a gym. A specific gym named Joey's Gym on which they had their first stank ball match. If it was still unclear, then the groups plan was to reenact most of the time Kori was here. Doing the challenges, taking her to recognizable places, repeating phrases, it was all pieces of a complicated puzzle to get their Kori back.
Kori had no idea why she and her fellow female companions were dressed in such revealing attire, but she felt as if she had seen this before. The fabric and the squeak of the gym floor beneath her feet made a bell ring in Kori's head, but it was still unclear. It was almost like a darks storm that you couldn't see past, and just hoped that it would all be over soon. The images inside of her head were coming more into focus, but they were still out of her grasp.
After the dodge ball game or rather as Victor and Roy referred it to as ; Stank ball, Kori had heard a long interesting story from the girls on which she laughed at. It was apparent that her and the girls had played a complicated prank on the titans on which they screamed and panicked about. Karen purposely left the part about the boys becoming very protective and Dick having a melt down at her absent, but it would only confuse Kori more.
Leaving the gym, Kori and the group all headed to a paint ball park. It was an incredible sight and Kori was in awe at the many guns and colors of the place. Walking towards the counter, Dick slammed his hand down on the glass and narrowed his blue eyes at the man who stood behind it.
"When you send out one of your employees to help us, don't send out Jeremy." Dick growled.
"Okay ..." The man said awkwardly heading back to work.
Dick seemed tensed and almost sad at the moment on which Wally immediate took note of. Walking to his friend, he placed a comforting hand on Dick's shoulder and frowned.
"What's up with you?" Wally asked as Dick released a sigh.
"Nothing." Dick answered attempting to shake off Wally's arm.
"Nothing my ass. Why you mad bro?" Wally continued.
"It's just... This is where me and Kori had our first kiss. It's driving me insane that she doesn't remember and every time I look at her and see that blank face, I just feel like my heart dies a little." Dick sighed. Wally gave his friend a sympathetic face and took a breath.
"I'm sorry boss. Then again, this is only the beginning. There may be a small chance to get your girl back, but we'll do everything we can to get her." Wally assured. Dick looked a bit unfazed, but simply nodded as he walked away to go and get his gun and paint.
"I sure hope Kori remembers him soon." Wally muttered silently to himself.
"You and me both dude." Gar replied walking past him.
Gar looked at Rachel who was filling navy blue paint balls into her gun with ease. He smiled at her and wondered how he was ever so lucky to get a girl like her. Then Gar glanced at Dick who looked almost like a hollow shell. He gained a bit of himself back whenever Victor had explained the plan on how to get Kori's memory back, but with each passing moment and no progress being made it seemed he had lost all hope.
"Alright guys, I'll be your helper today, and will explain the basics and the rules to y'all!" A feminine voice beamed. The voice seemed familiar to Gar. Almost sounded like...
Turning to the group he saw the back of a girl with blonde hair. Widening his eyes he walked towards her with a grin.
"Terra!" Gar called earning the blondes attention. Terra turned to see a smirking Gar on which her blue eyes filled with delight.
"Gar! Oh my god, I thought I'd never see you again!" Terra exclaimed running to him and crushing him into a massive hug.
"Me too! It's good to see you again though. How was your traveling?" Gar asked attempting to catch up. Terra grinned.
"It was fun, but it would've been funner if you came with me..." Terra admitted.
"Who. Are. You?" Rachel growled earning Gar and Terra's attention. At the sight of his girlfriend, Gar's smile widened as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders making Terra frown.
"Rachel! This is my good friend Terra. Terra, this is my-" Gar introduced before getting cut off by Rachel.
"Girlfriend." Rachel finished for him making Terra glare at her.
"Oh. How nice..." Terra lied through her clenched jaw.
"Yeah. It was good seeing you again though. We should catch up later on." Gar suggested.
"Anytime, any day, anywhere and I'll be there Gar." Terra said with a wink before walking to the group. As Terra walked away, Gar glanced down to see his girlfriend narrowing her eyes at the retreating blonde.
"Um, you okay Raven?" Gar asked using her nickname. Snapping out of her death look she shrugged.
"I've been better." Rachel droned.
"Dude, you know what I mean." Gar said.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just I don't like you hanging out with that Terra girl." Rachel stated practically spitting out her name. Gar rose an eyebrow before a chuckle escaped him.
"Why? We're just friends. Wait, are you jealous?" Gar asked with a wide grin.
"No. And me jealous? No, not of that ugly, smelly, whatever it is..." Rachel retorted making Gar frown.
"Hey Rachel, she's a good friend of mine, and besides you don't have nothing to be jealous of. " Gar assured with a smile.
"Sure I don't." Rachel replied with a roll of her eyes. Gar quickly spun her to him and crashed his lips to her on which she quickly replied. After their quick kiss, Gar pulled away leaving a stunned Rachel.
"What was that for?" Rachel asked.
"To assure you that your the only girl for me. Also, I saw this guy over there in the corner watching you so I figured I'd show him you were already taken." Gar said with a smirk making Rachel roll her eyes, but smile.
"You're a genius." Rachel said sarcastically.
"Yeah I am. Now come on before your genius forgets on how to shoot a paint ball gun." Gar said beginning to usher a smiling Rachel to the group.
After Terra had finished glaring at a smirking Rachel while explaining instructions, the group went outside. Rachel and Gar walked hand in hand to the eventual battle field as Kori and Dick walked awkwardly side by side. Kori watched as Gar dropped Rachel's hand and instead wrapped his arm around her shoulders pulling her closer to him on which she laid her head on him in return. They seemed so happy.
"They are quite cute together, are they not?" Kori asked motioning to Gar and Rachel. Dick snapped his head up to see Kori talking to him on which he quickly registered.
"Um yeah. They're so opposite, but I think that being too similar is just boring. In their relationship, that spark they have will never go out. They're stuck with each other for a long time." Dick said before releasing a chuckle as Kori giggled. Awkward silence was left between the two before Kori remembered something.
"Was there an event that occurred here on which I think of as great importance?" Kori asked. Dick grew slightly confused before he figured out what she was trying to say.
"Uh, yeah. Why?" Dick asked. Kori simply tapped her head and let out a groan.
"My head is doing the hurting. I believe I may have the aches of the head." Kori replied feeling her head hurt even more.
"Oh. Do you need me to take you home? " Dick asked growing worried.
"No, I believe I shall be fine." Kori answered waving off the offer.
"You sure? " Dick questioned again.
"Yes. Perhaps instead of doing the paint ball I may rest." Kori stated walking away.
Dick seemed like he wanted to say more, but was soon called by Victor to catch up. Everyone walked away leaving Kori to sit at the small picnic table that the losers had to return to. She groaned and laid her head on the table on which she let out a frustrated sigh to escape her.
Pulling out her phone, she began to look through her pictures. There was one of her and Wally both dressed as cops sitting in a cop car taking a selfie as Wally did the duck face and wore a fake mustache while Kori looked at the camera seriously with a pair of shades on. Another picture was of her and Roy taking a picture, but she wore a bikini and Roy had his hair dyed pink. The other ones were ranging from her taking pictures of the group and even a video of Gar singing that song milkshakes. She smiled at all of the pictures and videos, but out of the most she saw Dick.
Dick.
For some reason that word didn't roll off her tongue just right. It sounded wrong for her to say, and each time she called him that, he would frown. Was she saying it wrong or not pronouncing it right? It was pretty straight forward and yet her heart told her that wasn't the reason for his grief. The name Dick had a much deeper meaning when she used it, meaning she was special to him as everyone had said. If only she could remember though...
Feeling another pain shoot through her head, she groaned and stood up. Feeling like she wasn't strong enough to stay here, she quickly texted everyone that she was going to return to the mansion. Not waiting for any of them to respond, she left the paintball field and walked to the parking lot. Getting in her car, she drove back to the mansion and walked quickly inside to where she felt her head hurt even more. Walking around, she saw a producer editing footage.
"Excuse me." Kori called. The producer turned his head to see a timid Kori standing at the door way.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Do you, perhaps have a way for me to go to the roof. I merely wish to get the air that is fresh, to clear my head." Kori asked. The producer gave her a sad smile already aware of the memory loss and nodded.
"Of course. Just go to the top floor and then take the main hallway, turn right, then go up the stairs behind the black door." The producer directed. Kori grinned.
"I thank you." She thanked before walking away.
Taking the directions, Kori soon found herself at the top of the roof. She beamed a huge smile at the sight of sunset occurring at the moment. It was just beginning and the sun was still just above the horizon, but was quickly disappearing. Kori let out a content sigh sitting down and relaxing.
During her whole ordeal Kori had forgotten to even get to the roof. In fact she didn't even know there was a way to get up there. After missing so many sunrises and sunsets it was finally a moment of peace. The peace Kori felt at the moment didn't last long though. In fact being on the roof made her head hurt even more. Almost like a her mind was a dam about to burst open.
Letting out a growl, Kori clenched her hair and groaned. This headache was becoming worst and worst. She felt like her head was going to explode, as the pain was so bad. The headache first occurred whenever the games began. When Victor tossed the football around it made her think of something. The truth or dare game seemed like it was almost a reenactment. When the girls all wore those ridiculous outfits and played the game stank ball it got worst. Then the David's paintball place just made her head pop. Something significant had to happen in all of these events because the more her head hurt the more the activity seemed familiar. Kori didn't know why being on the roof gave her a sense of comfort and made her feel happy. Did something important happen here? She didn't remember.
Kori felt confused and frustrated. Realizing she may need a quick shower to relax her mind she took one last glance at the setting sun before leaving the roof. Walking down the steps and into her room, Kori grabbed a pair of clothes and walked to the bathroom. After the shower, Kori dried her long red hair and put on a pair of sweat pants, a t-shirt, and placed her hair in a messy bun as she crawled into the bed. Feeling her eyes close, Kori pulled the blanket closet to her as sleep soon took way.
"I WIN!" Karen yelled excitedly.
"No fair I wasn't looking!" Wally exclaimed with a pout.
Everyone chuckled as the two continued to bicker. After the long game of paint ball, Karen had come out as queen bee. It was already dark outside and everyone was planning on heading out to dinner. As everyone began to congratulate Karen on the win, Dick pulled out his phone and screen saver sadly. It was him and Kori smiling with their faces pressed together on the roof. He remembered on that day she insisted that they wake up An extra hour earlier so they could beat the sun at waking up. A sad chuckle escaped as he became oblivious of the group leaving.
"Yo Dick, you coming?!" Victor called from the doorway.
"What? Oh, uh. No, I think I'll just head back to the mansion. I don't feel too good." Dick replied.
"I'll go with you. They're heading to a burger joint and I'm gonna be sick if I smell that." Gar said turning a bit green.
"Okay." Dick replied as Gar soon joined him.
The rest of the group walked out of the door as Dick and Gar walked to the counter. Dick began to pay for the game as Gar was soon tapped on the shoulder. Turning, he saw Terra beaming a huge smile up at him.
"Hey Gar! " Terra greeted.
"Hey Terra. Okay this is gonna sound strange, but didn't your shift end like an hour ago dude?" Gar asked knowing the time schedules by a poster on the wall showing the working hours. Terra simply shrugged.
"Yeah, but I had to show you something." Terra replied. Gar simply rose an eyebrow.
"Is it Mega Monkeys 5?" Gar asked. Terra simply giggled.
"Nope. Better!" Terra chirped.
"What?" Gar questioned.
"This." Terra purred. Before Gar realized what was going on, Terra had pushed Gar to the counter and crashed her lips to his making Gar's eyes widened. He and Terra had dated before she had left to go travel the world. Gar was of course devastated, but after meeting Rachel he found out that Terra wasn't meant to be. The things he felt for Rachel were stronger and more passionate then what he used to feel for Terra. Now all he saw Terra was as a good friend, but apparently she didn't see him that way.
At that moment Rachel walked back inside to retrieve her car keys from Gar. That's where she saw Terra kissing a wide eyed Gar. That's where Rachel felt her heart break and ran out of the door in tears. Rachel wasn't emotional, but the truth was she was heartbroken. Gar pushed Terra off of him, and just as he glared at her, he finally noticed Rachel's retreating form behind the door.
"Shit." Gar muttered.
As fast as Gar could, he ran out into the parking lot where he saw Rachel trying to open her car.
"I have your keys remember?" Gar said. Rachel whipped her head towards him on which she glared at him.
"I thought I was the only girl Gar." Rachel said using Gar's words against him. That's where Gar turned stoic on which he NEVER did.
"What I said is what I meant. I know you saw Terra kiss me, but did you see that I pushed her off? That I didn't return it? That I didn't enjoy it?" Gar began taking a step closer to Rachel.
"How am I supposed to know that?" Rachel asked.
"Because I love you and only you." Gar retorted with honesty in his voice.
"And how am I supposed to believe you? I leave you for five minutes then see you kissing another girl." Rachel hissed.
"She kissed me! God Rachel, do you want to know I love you?" Gar asked. Rachel timidly nodded as Gar looked at her. Gar pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and glanced at it and Rachel before clearing his throat. Standing up straighter, Gar took a deep breath and began.
"With hair as soft as silk and eyes that sparkle like diamonds, she is a beauty like no other. A misunderstood, who hides under her hood dark girl with a light as bright as the sun hidden beneath her dark outer layer. Her smiles are rare, but light up the room, she is as beautiful as a flower in bloom. I would crawl hundreds of miles on glass, eat meat, give up video games, swim oceans, climb mountains, and suffer the worst of punishments then hear her say the words" I don't love you Gar." I'd give my everything to her, and love her with every fiber of my being. At the end of the day I will never deserve her, but if she loves me then I can at least try to prove to her everyday, that maybe, just maybe I'd be good enough for her love." Gar said making Rachel's jaw drop.
"Gar..." Rachel said breathlessly.
"Yeah, I've been working on that for weeks. I know how much you love poetry, so I thought that I could make you one. But every word I said is true. I love you, and I'd rather die then hear you say you don't love me." Gar admitted.
"You wrote that for me?" Rachel asked.
"That, and I read Shakespeare. I know how much you love to read, so I tried to put down the comic book for once and read a book. I didn't like it, but I will do anything to make you happy." Gar said with a smile.
"Oh Gar. I can't believe you did all of that. You really didn't kiss her back did you?" Rachel questioned. Gar snorted.
"Of course not dude! She isn't even on the same level as you are. I'm afraid your stuck with this idiot to be your boyfriend, because I don't see any other girl who could even compare to you." Gar finished with a grin.
"Good. I love you too Gar. I hope you know that." Rachel sighed. Gar wrapped an arm around his girlfriend and smirked.
"Who doesn't love me? " Gar asked. Rachel's simple reply was to roll her eyes, and give Gar a quick kiss. Texting Dick that him and Rachel were going to a vegetarian restaurant Gar jumped into the car and pulled a smiling Rachel with him, as Rachel wondered how she was lucky enough to have a guy like Gar.
Kori tossed and turned in her bed, sleep being just out of reach. Something was wrong, she didn't know what, but she could feel it. She felt as though she was forgetting something, something important, something was missing that should be here. What was it that was troubling her? Was it that feeling she had gotten all day? That sense of familiarity, but it being just out of her reach on exactly what?
She tensed as her head began to pulse, sharp bursts of pain shooting through Kori. Voices could suddenly be heard as clear as day, images could be seen clearly, even though her green eyes were tightly shut. She suddenly found herself looking on as a scene began to play out in front of her, one that seemed all to familiar.
"Greetings." Kori's saw herself say.
"Uh- um h-hi." Dick stuttered. Kori saw as he blushed beet red making her inwardly smile.
"My name's Richard Grayson." Dick stated proudly. Kori saw herself nod before smiling still and gave him a warm hug. Then everything began to fade as a new scene played in front of her.
Seeing herself sitting outside, she watched on as she was joined by Dick on which he called her Star making her confused. She remembered him calling her that when she first woke up and now she was finally realizing why. Seeing herself scrunch her nose in confusion she saw herself look at him confused.
"Star?" She questioned.
"Yeah a nick name since your eyes are as bright as the stars them selves." Richard said honestly.
She saw herself blush before muttering a thank you.
" so what were you going to ask?" Richard asked.
"Oh! Yes is it true that you are what they called the playboy ?" She saw herself question.
Dick sighed as he nodded and rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"Oh... I see." Kori answered sadly.
She saw as her demeanor changed dramatically making her soon realize why. She actually liked Richard. He was kind to her and every time he was around her she would get 'flying butter' in her tummy. She was naïve but she knew what a playboy was. And with being a playboy came heart breaks, but if so, then why did she feel this?
" Hey star are we friends?" Richard asked.
He sounded so hopeful.
"Of course we are Richard!" She said without hesitation.
He chuckled at her before he realized what she had been calling him.
"Wait what did you call me?" Dick asked.
"Oh I am sorry if you would not wish to be called that I shall refer to you as Dick. " She saw her flustered self apologize.
"No, no just say my name again." Dick asked.
"Richard?" She questioned.
He closed his eyes as he repeated the way she spoke his name making her smile.
"Do you wish for me to call you Dick?" She questioned.
He frowned as she said his other name.
"No just keep calling me Richard." He said.
"Okay Richard." She giggled. The scene zoned out as she soon recalled that day and their first meeting along with the rest of that night. Then seeing nothing, but darkness she heard echoing screams making her breath hitch.
"KORI! KORI! PLEASE TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE! ARE YOU OK!? KORI!" Dick's cries echoed in the dark scene Kori was witnessing.
"KORI! PLEASE TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE!" Dick pleaded. This sound made Kori's heart break.
The only sound was the rumbling of thunder outside.
"DAMMIT, I CAN'T LOSE HER!" Dick growled as Kori heard a loud smash. Almost as if someone had punched a hole in the wall...
The scene faded as Kori soon saw herself on the roof.
"Why?" Richard asked her softly.
" Why what, Richard?" She asked confused. Richard looked over at her with serious eyes.
" Kori. You know what I'm talking about." Richard replied serious.
She realized he was talking about her pushing him out of the way during the whole mall shooting ordeal. She saw herself sigh and begin.
" Richard what is so hard about understanding why I had done what I've done." She responded. Recalling she was shot, it all began to click and process through her mind.
" DAMMIT Kori! Why did you do it ? Why did you put me through that?" She heard Richard ask as his voice broke a little. It confused her greatly.
" What did I put you through!? I was merely trying to push you out of harms way!"she asked. She went wide eyed at the intent emotion and voice level Richard had used earlier. Richard looked at the her intently as he began to rant and pace the roof.
" You want to know what you put me through!? Kori I've lost so many people I've cared about! When I saw you on the ground I felt my heart actually be crushed. My world crumbled, Star. Do you know how that feels? To see someone you really care about get hurt and you could've prevented it?! I can't watch someone I love get hurt again. I, I just can't..." Richard said as his voice grew softer until he stopped. He took a deep breath and looked at her on which she could tell she was shocked.
She looked at him as he breathed heavily. He had his crystal clear tears roll down his cheek as he looked at her. She was shocked and finny realized that was why the roof held so much significance.
He had admitted his love for her here.
" I just can't lose you too star." Richard whispered as she saw him look away.
She saw herself move from her position and silently walk to Richard. She placed a comforting soft tan hand on his jaw line as she turned him to face her. They stared into each others eyes as if they were looking into each other's souls.
" You shall not have to. I love you as well Richard." She responded.
Richard stared at her eyes making Kori's heart skip a beat.
" I love you too, my star." Richard replied as she giggled.
More scenes played through her head in rapid succession. Words, images, whole conversations, converging into one long story. Her going to the mansion, meeting everyone, the challenges, their first kiss, becoming Star, and falling in love with Robin, Getting kidnapped with the girls and escaping, the fight at the mall, saving Richard from getting shot, confessing their love for each other, talking about the future, stealing a cop car with Wally, heading out to get fire works with Rachel, finding out Xavier was Red- X, every sun set and sunrise with Richard and everything in between.
Kori's eyes shot open in realization...
