Welcome To Our Life.

Deborah laid her head on Piers' shoulder, while the two were watching the stars on the top of a roof. The dawn seemed calm, and everything seemed normal, no one could imagine what was going on inside of that house.
"Is this the place where you live with your aunt?"
"No, we could not stay in our house, the soldiers would find us. It is just a temporary house."
"And then what?'
"Chris will decide where we'll go, but I think we'll go back to Wonbane."
"What is this?" Deborah raised her head so she could look at Piers.
"It's a small village, but a very beautiful place we found to the north. Chris helped them build stronger houses then he became an important man there. It is not an easy place to find, so it's a good place for us both to live."
"We both?"
"Why, you don't think I'll let you get away from me again, do you?"
Deborah smiled when Piers took her hand to his face and gently kissed it.
"I hope not, Piers. These months were very difficult because I was away from you."
"For me too." Piers smiled at her sweetly "I am also happy for Chris to have found the love of his life, just like me."
"He really seems to love this woman, it was easy to see his desperation to help her."
"Yes, I'm glad that Leon was going to the opposite side and left before us. If he had seen that Chris was bringing Jill he wouldn't probably let him bring her over here."
Deborah nodded. How many paths had been crossed that last year, how many things had happened, how many tears but also how much hope of a better future for all.
For all those months Deborah kept the hope of finding Piers and that she could stay with him. She could not see her future next to another man and if Piers had died in that island, she would rather die too. Nothing would make sense without Piers.
"Don't you think we'd better get down to see what happens down there?" Deborah asked.
"No, my princess." Piers pulled her closer "Chris will warn us if something happens, for now I want to kiss you for all these months that I could not."
Deborah smiled leaving Piers pull her even closer, until their lips met in a romantic kiss that sealed that love for life.

Jill was not feeling weak at the moment. All that weakness was replaced by an adrenaline after each contraction. She wished Lana was there with her, they had planned that time. The experienced friend had calmed her saying she had nothing to worry about the childbirth, because everything would be fine.
There were four hours since Jill started feeling contractions and besides very close, they were stronger. Chris calmed her down though he also seemed extremely nervous.
"Chris, let me do it." His aunt Mary said as she entered the room.
"No aunt, as I told you, this is something that every captain needs to know. I have watched many births."
Mary said nothing, just nodded and smiled, realizing his nephew was excited. Then she approached Jill and held her hand.
"Again" Jill said before squeezing Mary's hand with a grimace of pain.
Sweat was rolling down Jill's face, who despite feeling much pain didn't scream, she kept strong on that situation.
"Easy, girl. Soon it will pass." Mary said seeing Jill relax after the contraction.
"Jill, I'm seeing the baby. It is near. Rest until the next contraction to gain strength" Chris ordered.
"Okay." Jill gasped.
On the next contraction, Jill again squeezed Mary's hand with all she had.
"Now Jill, now." Chris said while holding her knees.
Jill threw herself up in the pillow when the contraction went away and she thought that she would have no more strength to do that again.
"Jill, just one more time. I need you to do all you can get. It's so close."
Jill did not answer, she was too tired to even talk. She put her head to the side looking for the air she needed. She kept that way until she felt another contraction approaching.
"Now Jill. Let's do it now!"
Jill closed her eyes and squeezed Mary's hand as hard as she could, pushing the baby with all she had.
"It's born!" Chris yelled "Oooh!"
Jill threw herself back on the pillow again, but this time she felt a relief and an inexplicable happiness.
"It's a little girl." Chris took the baby on his arms with love and care as a tear rolled down his face "My little girl." He showed the baby girl to Jill, who was crying softly.
Mary asked Chris to hand her the little girl so she could clean her and cut the umbilical cord. Chris handed the baby to Mary and sat next to Jill, holding her hand and kissing it.
"Jill, the strength of a warrior is measured by their resistance. You were a warrior." He smiled and then he got seriously "Stay with me. No matter what happened, just stay with me."
"It is what I want the most, Chris." She said what she really wanted the first time.
"From now on this little girl is my daughter, she's our daughter. It only matters that I love you two, Jill."
Jill smiled at him feeling even happier. It was as if nothing else mattered at that moment, she could not overcome that feeling and at that moment she realized that Chris and their daughter was all she wanted in her life, they were all she needed.
"I love you, Chris." Jill said with all the sincerity of her heart.
Chris kissed Jill's forehead tenderly.
"Like my mother" Mary said holding the baby on her chest.
"What?" Chris asked turning to her.
"Your grandmother had this little spot that looks like a butterfly on her wrist." Mary said showing the baby's arm to Chris.
Jill felt her eyes teary one more time. Her daughter was really Chris' and that meant a lot to her because she had a baby with the man she loved. There was no doubt anymore.
"Chris" Mary said seriously "She was born a little early, that's why she's so tiny. Breast milk can strengthen her fast."
"She is strong, aunt. With this spot in her wrist and all that strength she just showed us, I would name her after my grandmother if you allowed me, Jill."
"Of course, Chris." Jill looked at him tenderly.
"So... Welcome to our family, little Claire."

Twelve days had passed since Jill was with Chris in that unknown place. Little Claire was getting stronger and more beautiful each day. Although very tired from barely sleeping and breastfeeding every three or four hours, Jill was happy to realize that her daughter was getting tougher day by day.
Jill put her in the crib, the girl would sleep for a few hours and Jill decided to drink some water before resting. The dawn would be long as usually.
When Jill arrived in the kitchen, she expected to be alone in that place, but Mary was sitting at the table staring at the door. She was so focused that she did not notice Jill's presence.
"Mary? You're not sleeping?"
"I'm worried" she said after looking at Jill by the door" I'm afraid they'll find us. I am so worried that I am having very strange dreams."
"Tell me about your dreams."
"I saw the sun rising bringing a knighthood, the leader of these men looked like a skull. Then he pointed at all of us and the knights started running after us. During the whole dream we were trying to escape from them, hiding. A horrible feeling, inexplicable."
"Did you see anything else?"
"By the end saw you alone with a butterfly in your hand. You made the butterfly fly to one side and you ran to opposite side, then you could distract their attention and we managed to escape."
Jill kept quiet, but she felt everything the dream represented. She picked up a glass of water and drank it before turning to Mary again.
"Don't worry, Mary. You are not in danger. Chris is watching this place now and when he goes to bed Piers will do the same. So trust them." Jill took her hand "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course, Jill."
"Could you take care of Claire for me tomorrow during the day? I really need to rest, but only if you could help me."
"Of course, always." Mary squeezed Jill's hand and smiled.
Jill nodded gratefully before taking another glass of water. Breastfeeding let her very thirsty.
When Mary decided to return to her room and try to sleep, Jill put herrself to think. She had a few hours until the next feed, then she'd go to meet Wesker.
Now it all made sense, to save her daughter's life she had to let her fly to the opposite direction and so deceive the governor. The hardest part was knowing that she should do it all alone, according to the dream.
In five hours the morning would come and Chris would be replaced by Piers. By the same time Claire would wake up and sleep again.. Breastfeeding withdrawal would be the solution, she would have about nine hours to go to Wesker and free her parents and then look for Chris to finally go to a better place.
During the next few hours many thoughts were spinning her mind. Knowing that her little daughter would be away from her for a few hours and knowing she would face Wesker brought her many bad feelings.
Jill managed to get a good amount of milk, but she knew it would not last more than eight hours. After that time Claire had nothing else to drink.
After putting Claire back to her crib and before leaving the room towards her biggest challenge, Jill ran her finger in Claire's face. The girl was sleeping like an angel.
"I promise I'll do everything to get back to you, my princess. But if I do not return, do not forget that you had a mother who loved you so much" Jill said that wiping a tear running down her face.
Without looking back Jill left the room and went to the kitchen, where she wrote a note to Chris, asking him to leave that place with everyone and look for her father once he woke up because she was in the village waiting for them to escape, as they have planned before. But Jill would never tell him where she was going actually. She knew that Chris would never accept her to do that alone.
Holding the note under the table, Jill saw when Chris went through the kitchen door.
"You up?" Chris said bending down to kiss her on the forehead.
"Claire just slept, I'm going to bed to rest a little."
"I'll be waiting for you. I need a tree-hour-sleeping" Chris walked away before turning to her again "If you don't see Piers soon, call him please."
Jill shook her head. The racing heart showed how nervous she was. Chris left the kitchen, Jill waited a few minutes, then she placed the note on the table and went out the door before Piers could see her.
She arrived in that place many days ago being carried by Chris, although she didn't pay much attention in the way, Jill knew she should walk north until a bridge, cause after it she knew the way.
Watching the sun rising on the horizon, Jill tried to remain calm and cool before this extreme situation. Of everything the most difficult thing was to get away from her child, but Jill knew to save Claire's life she would do anything, even let her fly away like a beautiful and colorful butterfly.
