Uncovering the Mystery

Lana was walking from one side to the other in the kitchen. She was worried and scared. Wesker returned on the same day that Lana and Gerard had planned to escape from that place. Lana waited for news about Jill for sometime, but as nothing happened she decided to tell Gerard she wanted to run away and the man finally confessed his love for the servant. The two then planned to escape together, but they were surprised by Wesker's arrival.

Wesker called all the soldiers for a meeting, but Lana knew he would not start it before talking to her.

Lana was right, a few minutes later Wesker came through the kitchen door and stopped by the door, crossing his arms.

"Lana?"

Lana was on the other side of the kitchen, near the door to the garden and she looked at the governor scared. She was afraid of what Wesker could do to her, but she had not asked Gerard for help because she feared for his life as well.

"Sir?" Lana turned to him with wide eyes.

"It is true, Lana?"

"What, sir?" Lana was trembling. She preferred to pretend she did not know what he was talking, but she could not avoid shaking.

"Some soldiers say they haven't seen Jill for a while. You allowed my prisoner to escape with my baby? You know what that means, Lana? " Wesker looked at a large knife on the sink.

"No, sir, I..."

"Lana, then tell me what happens." Wesker began to walk slowly towards Lana. "There is another way to force you to talk or maybe prevent you from talking forever, Lana." Wesker put his hand on the knife "You know how serious this problem is, Lana."

"What's wrong with letting me sunbathe alone? She knows I would not run away. I'm not stupid"

Lana looked at her right with the heart racing, but she was relieved and happy. Jill stood by the door and she looked well, she was flushed. Wesker took his hand back and approached Lana.

"It seems that I cannot trust my soldiers ... but Lana give me my keys."

Lana gave the bunch of keys to Wesker and lowered her head looking at the ground.

"What happened to your belly, Jill?" Wesker almost smiled 'So we have a newborn baby in the house?"

"The baby did not wait, it was born prematurely." Jill looked down trying to avoid his eyes, she wasn't lying but maybe omitting the baby was alive.

Wesker slammed the sink aggressively with his right hand, causing a loud noise.

"They can postpone my plans to become a god, but not stop them. You know what that means, Jill. I want you in my bed tonight, for your parents' life."

"But sir, she is not ready for another pregnancy yet."

"I didn't ask your opinion, Lana." Wesker said turning his back on the two and walking to the door, where Excella was waiting for him. Wesker pushed her with his hand, knocking her to the ground. "Get out of my way, Excella."

Lana took Jill's hand and pulled her. Jill understood that they should not say anything at that time. The two looked at Excella lying on the floor and said nothing. The governor's cousin looked at the two with hatred, but she was ignored. They had so many more important things to worry about than the hatred of an unbalanced woman as Excella.

Excella kept on the floor for a few minutes until she realized that Wesker, Jill and Lana were really far away from that place. Then she got up and walked into the kitchen. Near the sink, Excella bent down and picked up a bunch of keys under it.

Wesker had not realized that he had left the keys fall when he hit the sink with his hand, but Excella, who was behind him noticed that. At that moment, with the soldiers in a meeting she knew it would be the best time to discover the reason of Wesker's anxiety to get home soon and visit that filthy basement.

Excella never thought to steal those keys because she feared Wesker, but with the keys in front of her she could not resist, she could check the place and put the keys in the same place afterward.

Excella thought she would never have to worry about that place after seeing Lana bloody that day. After the rumors about hauting she became even more certain that her problem had been solved. But when sometime before traveling she discovered that Wesker continued visiting the place, she got worried again. Excella knew he took her with him to that trip just because he wanted to keep her away from that place.

Excella walked to the basement carefully. When she was getting near the door to the prison she heard voices and hid behind a door. Two soldiers went through her talking.

"This meeting will take us about two hours."

"That's not the worst, the worst thing is that he may want to find out who stole the horses and we are screwed."

"You're right, as always someone will be punished for it."

When the two boys were already far, Excella entered the prison door. She hated that place that brought her bad memories of the days she had been stuck in there.

Excella walked quickly through the prison corridors trying not to draw the prisoners' attention. When she reached the door to the mysterious room she felt anxious.

"Now I'll find out your secret, Wesker"

In a few minutes she could find the corresponding key that unlocked the door and she entered the room. The room was large with furniture and decoration, it looked like a small house. Behind, on the top-left-corner there was a small window overlooking the garden, from where the sun's rays could penetrate the room. And under the sun she saw exactly what she did not want to see.

Behind a large bush, Leon watched the soldiers walking in the same direction. After waiting for news from Jill he decided to get the answers himself. Two days investigating the place and he found out that Jill was considered a fugitive. That let him worried because she had not returned to the village and Leon suspected that she was actually in those dark prisons.

Probably Wesker's men arrested her when they discovered that she had freed several prisoners. Leon was concerned for her life and for the baby's life.

The movement in the house was so different that day that Leon realized it was the best day to act. When some soldiers walked away, Leon decided to walk into the prison. He was carrying some tools to try to open the doors, though he did not know yet how to do it without some noise.

Once he get to the front door to the prison, Leon was surprised by the unlocked door. It was not only surprising, but good. But he knew that he should keep an eye out.

Walking through the corridors of the prison, Leon evaluated every cell.

Leon approached the last cells disappointed because Jill was not there and he had no idea where she might be.

At that moment cries came from a door in the left corner of the hall, a little away from the cells. Leon did not think twice, he ran towards the door and opened it. Then he saw a woman sitting on the floor protecting a baby and another woman attacking her physically.

"My baby, do not hurt my baby." The woman on the floor screamed.

"I'll kill you both!" The other said as she slapped the woman on the floor "I thought that that stupid Lana had killed you when she appeared cover in blood, but no. It was probably the day you gave birth to this little rat, this bastard boy."

Leon could not watch that scene where a woman was beating cowardly a mother with her baby. He ran to the woman and grabbed her arms.

"What is this? Who are you?" She said looking at Leon "Let me go or you'll regret that. I'll call the soldiers."

Although scared, the woman on the floor was not crying. She was calm even in a situation like that. Leon took a rope he brought on his bag and began tying the crazy woman to the bed.

"Let me go!" She cried "I have to kill that bitch. She stole Wesker from me. Damn baby! Everybody was thinking it was a haunting room but those noises were because of this bastard crying."

Leon ignored all the screams from the woman, after he tied her to the bed he reached out to the mother with the baby, helping her get up.

"Do you want to leave this place?" - He asked her.

"I think I need to." She replied.

While Leon left the room with the mother and the baby, the other woman cried desperately. All prisoners approached the bars curiously and scared by the screams. Leon didn't stop, pulling the woman by the hand he ran to the exit.

Outside prison they heard the screams of the woman for a few more minutes. When they approached the wall, they no longer heard her. Leon got the baby until the woman climbed the wall then he handed the baby to her. Once he got up there he took the baby back so she could jump and then he handed the baby to her again, so he could also jump.

Leon was frustrated because he didn't find Jill, he had to think of some plan but this time he did not know what to do or where to go. So he decided to help the woman. Since he had failed to save Jill, he could at least save two other lives.

When he approached his horse tied between trees, Leon helped her up.

"Where to?"

"To the south, three to four hours away. But I understand if you cannot help me."

"Of course I can help you. But don't you think they may find you if you go back home?" Leon said as he made the horse walk south.

"The southern people are seen as unclean for these people, like wild. The governor has no interest in my people and he does not know I'm from there, because when we met I was trying to break into his house to steal a precious stone."

"So you became a prisoner?"

"More or less" Her brown eyes looked sad "For some reason I attracted him and he decided to keep me stuck as his sex slave."

"I'm sorry for that."

"Don't be. I think we fell in love with each other. I was not suffering. I could have escaped many times from that place if I wanted to, I could have chosen another life for me. But my feelings for the governor kept me prisoner, not him."

"And why did you decide to leave now?"

"Because of this crazy woman, his cousin, she could put my son's life at risk from now on. And for my son I'd do whatever I need to, even leave Wesker."

"I understand." Leon nodded.

"You must think I'm crazy, right?" the brunette woman asked.

"A little." Leon said sincerely.

"Feelings can't be explained. Wesker's plans interest me, but I would be on his side even if a part of me said it was wrong."

Leon didn't know what to say, that woman was beautiful, young and did not seem like a bad person. How could she choose that life? That was something he couldn't understand.

"What's your name?" She asked.

"Leon, nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, Leon. I'm Ada Wong and this is my son, Jake."

Leon smiled friendly.

The woman was friendly but Leon tried starting a normal dialogue more than once. It seemed that after all that time locked in that place she couldn't have common dialogs. For more than two hours that was a silent riding.

Leon slowed to cross a small stream when he heard noises in the trees, he looked back and he saw nothing. Suddenly he felt a thin, cold blade across his left shoulder.

Leon pulled the horse and at that moment Ada held on tight to keep from falling with her baby.

Within seconds the eyes of the man began to darken and he fell back into the shallow water. At that moment Leon knew he was poisoned and for the first time in his life he felt death at his side.
