Mai's POV
"Goodnight, Mai."
Luella and Madoka giggled as we all went our separate ways in the house. It was close to midnight before the three of us finally got back to the Davis'.
Earlier, when the maids came to get me—ruining the chance of Naru hopefully almost kissing me!—they led me to the older two women, who said they just had to take me shopping for a dress to wear to the ball. Even after we found a dress that all of us liked, they still wanted to buy me more clothes. 'I should have enough to last me a few years. Seriously.'
I dragged myself up the stairs with all of my bags, feeling dead tired after spending almost twelve hours shopping and doing other things with Madoka and Luella. I did try my best to get them to come home about five hours ago, but nope, they just giggled and said 'just a bit longer.' I sighed as I finally got to the top of the stairs. Naru's probably going to kill me for not letting him know where we were going and for not calling...
I suddenly became more alert. Naru! How am I going to face him after what happened earlier today?! What is he going to do? Is he going to ignore me, act like nothing happened, or maybe talk about it? I rolled my eyes. Yeah right, like he would ever actually talk about it! And I even have to share a room—a bed—with him!
I turned around, deciding it would just be for the best if I slept on the couch tonight, but I stopped mid-step when I saw Martin walking up the stairs with a book in his hand. It took a few moments for him to notice me, but when he did, he smiled welcomely at me.
"Ah, Mai. I see you three finally made it back." He partially mused as he came to stand beside me. He shut his book and took off his reading glasses, carefully tucking them in his pocket. "I hope Madoka and Luella didn't tire you out too much."
I smiled. "Ah, not too bad." I joked before I shifted the bags in my hands. "I think they decided I needed everything in the stores though."
"If they ever get too overbearing just let me know." Martin told me as he shook his head at the thought of his wife and friend. I grinned and nodded.
"Will do."
Martin took a few steps passed me before he paused and turned to me half way.
"Noll's been very worried about you today. About an hour after you three left, he came to me practically demanding to know where you were." He chuckled warmly while I blinked. "He's been locked up in his room for part of the day... I'm sure he's still awake." He nodded towards the long hallway that led to Naru's room. I followed his gaze and looked back at him with a small smile. I nodded. Much to my chagrin, I knew he wouldn't leave until he saw me go down that hallway. I gave a small, nervous laugh and leisurely began to walk towards Naru's room—having no choice.
I stood in front of his door, dreading what would happen behind it. It had been a good five minutes that I had been staring at the closed door. I swallowed hard and reached for the door knob, hoping things weren't going to be anywhere near as bad as what my mind was imagining. I was probably just overreacting.
Like Martin said, Naru was still awake. Under the blankets, he was sitting up on his bed, leaning against the headboard, as he read a book. He didn't acknowledge my presence until after I quietly closed the door and placed my bags of clothes over there in front of his dresser.
"You're back." His voice cut through silence. I silently took a deep breath and turned around to face him. He wasn't even looking at me.
"Yeah...your mother and Madoka had decided to kidnap me again." I admitted. He gave me a brief glance.
"They didn't get into any trouble this time as they did in Japan, did they?" He inquired. I smiled as some of the tension left my shoulders.
"Thankfully no." I answered. Naru nodded and went back to his book, indicating the conversion was over. I took that chance to grab my night clothes and go to the bathroom to change. When Naru saw me come out, he put his book aside and began to lay down. I bit my lip as I walked to the other side of the bed and carefully crawled in, our backs facing each other. 'Was...was he waiting up for me?' I blushed at the mere thought before I pushed it away and mentally shook my head. "Goodnight, Naru..." I said quietly as he turned off the lamp on his side of the bed.
"...Goodnight, Mai."
A small smile appeared on my face. I was stupid for thinking Naru would make things awkward. He was acting like normal and—although I wasn't sure whether to be happy or sad about that—I had been worrying over absolutely nothing.
Bright and early the next morning—literally, it was almost six in the morning—Luella and Madoka snuck into Naru's room and actually kidnapped me! It was one of the most scariest experiences I've been through! I was woken up by one of them covering my mouth with tape and the only thing they said to me was 'shhhhh!' in a sharp, reprimanding way. One of them grabbed my legs and other one got my arms and then they picked me up and carried me all the way downstairs into the living room where they dropped me on the couch. How Naru didn't hear their giggles and my muffled screams—since my mind was still hazed from sleep and I had no idea what was going on or who they were—I'll never know.
"Aw, come on, Mai! You can't be mad at us forever!" Madoka said as she leaned closer to me. It had been about half an hour since they so kindly woke me up. We're now in the dining room where I'm eating my breakfast.
"Madoka, you two nearly gave me a heart attack this morning! Give me a good freaking reason why I shouldn't!" I glared coldly at her. What happened to 'Mai, you should go to sleep so you won't be jetlagged'?! We just got back to the house at midnight and now they decide to wake me up at the crack of dawn?! And why aren't the guys up with us?!
"You said yesterday that you couldn't dance and the ball is tomorrow so you have to learn today!" She replied matter-of-factly. I stared blankly at her for a few moments. 'This is what they woke me up for?' I stood up.
"I'm going back to bed." I stated, taking a couple steps. Although they once again captured me. Luella wrapped her arms around my shoulders to stop me from walking then Madoka sat on the floor and started hugging my legs.
"Maaaai!" They whined.
"Come on, dear! It'll be fun, I promise!" Luella tried to convince me. I had to hold back a groan. I was too tired for this right now...but then they began to say 'pleaaaase'...repeatedly. I let out a frustrated sigh.
"Fine. Fine! Just let me finish eating!" Once they released me, I continued. "But you better let me sleep in tomorrow!"
Madoka grinned. "Wanting to sleep cuddled up to Naru more now do you?" I blushed at her words and immediately sat back down to finish my breakfast, making them giggle.
"Why did you two have to wake me up like...that for anyways?" I asked, verbally ignoring her comment. They both shrugged.
"Noll said you were the hardest person to wake up..." Luella replied. "So we..."
"...decided to have fun with it." They finished together, smiling innocently.
After I had quietly went back to Naru's room to get my clothes to change into, I walked to the living room where Madoka and Luella were waiting for me to do whatever they had planned. Entering the room, I saw that they had moved some of the furniture out the way. Madoka smiled when she noticed me and came over to me, grabbing my wrist and dragging me to the area they cleared.
"Alright, Mai, we decided that I would be the one to teach you and see how are you. It'll just be the basics first and hopefully Naru will have his ass down here by the time you learn it so he can help with the rest." She told me. I could only nod. She grabbed my hand and placed it on her right shoulder. Then she wrapped her arm around my waist but left enough space between our bodies. She grasped my hand with her other one and held it up. "Just watch my feet to begin with, okay? It's pretty simple though. Thus, one, two, three. Got it?"
Uncertainly, I nodded. "I guess so..."
The next two hours was a complete disaster. Every few steps I took I kept stepping on Madoka's feet, and I couldn't even stop staring at the floor or else I'd just get even more messed up and confused. I knew Madoka was annoyed that I unintentionally kept stepping on her, but aside from her frequent 'ow', she never voiced it. In the background Luella had cheered me on and was being optimistic about the whole thing. She said things like 'you can do it, Mai!' to 'oh, that was better! You went five steps without stepping on her!' She had suggested playing music some time ago to see if it would help me any. It didn't though. Not really.
"What are you doing?" I heard Naru's voice ask from the doorway as he eyed me and Madoka.
"Madoka is...trying to teach Mai how to dance." Luella answered, though she was hesitant.
"And how is that going?"
"Horribly!" I cried, tearing me eyes away from the ground to look at Naru which caused me to topple over Madoka again.
"Ow, ow, ow!" Madoka immediately released me and hobbled over to the couch. I winced.
"Sorry..."
Madoka let out a huff. "It's okay, you're trying your best. But I can't do it anymore right now!" She confessed to me before addressing Naru. "Alright, Naru! You're up! Teach your girl how to dance!"
Naru stared at her with an impassive look. "What?"
"You heard me! Unless you want some other handsome young man teaching Mai and touching her who knows where." Naru glared darkly at her. She grinned in return. "That's what I thought. Ah, now Luella, help me to the kitchen... I need to ice my poor, abused feet!" Madoka declared before Luella helped her stand and guided her to said kitchen. Naru waited until they were gone to speak to me.
"So you'll wake up for this but not for work?" He asked me after he stared at me with a blank look for a few moments. He crossed his arms.
"I didn't willingly get up for this, you know!" I accidentally hissed. I was still a little irritated from my lack of sleep...and also how I was woken up. Naru raised an eyebrow wanting a better explanation from me. "Madoka and your mother came into your room about six o'clock this morning, put duct tape over my mouth, and carried me away to in here and dropped me on the couch! How you didn't wake up through any of that only you know! Remind me to never count on you again if you're sleeping and I'm being abducted!" I deadpanned. I noticed Naru's eyes widened a bit and he slightly shook his head.
"They are insane..." He mumbled. Then he walked closer to me. He sighed. "How long have you been practicing?"
"Two hours." I huffed. Naru watched me for a moment before he grasped my hand, like Madoka was holding it earlier, and slowly snaked his arm around my waist. "W-What are you doing?" I was a little taken aback so I pulled away a bit, but not enough to leave his arms.
"Obviously I'm going to teach you what Madoka apparently seems to be incapable of doing." Naru smirked. I suddenly remembered yesterday in the garden when he had been this close to me also. I flushed and my heart began to beat faster.
"I might as well give up now. It's impossible for me to dance; I'm just too clumsy." I responded, vaguely feeling Naru tighten his arm he had around me to hold me more securely.
"That's true."
I pouted in slight annoyance. "You could've at least denied it."
"So you would rather I lie?"
"Of course not! It shouldn't have to be a lie anyways."
"Mai, you said it yourself that you're clumsy." Naru began. "I, for one, can say you are the clumsiest person I've ever met. You're too careless to your surroundings and that's one of the reasons you always get into trouble." He finished as if he knew everything. Okay, so maybe he does and maybe what he said was a little true. I didn't exactly know what to say so I settled with a glare. Naru's lips started to twitch upwards at my attempt to give him a death glare. "You must have been lying before when you said you couldn't dance."
I frowned at his words. "No, I didn't. Why would you say that?" I asked.
"Because you seem to be dancing just fine right now." He answered with a slight mocking tone in his voice as we stopped our movements. I blinked and looked down in surprise. We were dancing...? How did I not even notice that until we stopped?! Naru's right...I am careless to my surroundings. "You were concentrating too much when Madoka was trying to teach you. All you could think about was trying to do it right and it caused you to mess up even more. But because talking with me was a distraction for you, it came natural to you especially since I was the one who was leading. That's another reason why dancing with Madoka wasn't working—she's probably never led before."
I snapped my eyes back to Naru with a partly gaped mouth. Then I smiled brightly. I was happy, I finally did it! After being frustrated with not being able to do it, I did! I was actually kind of proud of myself in a way.
"Thank you, Naru!" I exclaimed, and before I knew what I was doing, I latched myself around Naru's neck—hugging him—and then I kissed his cheek. Surprised, I pulled back a bit to look at Naru. From the look on his face he was surprised too.

"Awww! So cute!" Luella suddenly squealed before running back into the kitchen with her camera in hand.
Sooo...Not much happens in this chapter...but I loved writing about Madoka and Luella kidnapping Mai! Lol. Oh, and for those of you said—some threatened...haha kidding! Maybe...—I better make it up for interrupting their kiss last time, don't worry your pretty little heads! ^.^ What kind of MaixNaru fangirl would I be if I didn't?! Hehe! It's just all in good time my little minio- erm, I mean friends, all in good time.
