Author's notes: [insert usual apology for not updating for more than one month here]

No, really, I am so sorry but I've been way busier than I thought I'd be, and in the rare moments I had for myself, I never was in the mood of writing. Anyway, here's chapter 10. I hope you'll like it.

Blaine hadn't planned to spend Sunday night doing his maths homework, but he had procrastinated all day and so there he was, lying on his bed and groaning in frustration everytime his answer and the solution on the book didn't match. He was really tired and couldn't seem to focus, but he was trying to finish it as fast as possible, so he could write to Kurt before going to bed. The last week had been busy for both of them, so they wrote less often to each other and he was starting to miss him.

Of course, when he opened his inbox he found a new e-mail from Kurt waiting for him.

Hi Blaine,

This is gonna be really short, but I just wanted to apologize for not writing you more often this week. I just had a lot of stuff to do for school, and work has been even more tiring. The other day my boss asked me to stay an hour more to help her choose some roses for a party. Can you believe that?

So I thought, even if I love writing e-mails to you, maybe we could exchange phone numbers too? That way communication would be faster and we could be in contact more easily even when we don't have much spare time. And I'd have someone else to text to when I'm forced to attend boring conferences...

The e-mail ended with a simple "bye" and Kurt's number. Blaine stared at it for a moment before saving it on his phone and writing back, including his own in the answer. Then he turned his computer off.

Not even five minutes later, while he was changing into his pajamas, his phone buzzed: he had a new text.

9:37 pm

Kurt: Hi stranger

A smile crossed Blaine's face as he answered.

9:38 pm

Blaine: Oh my god, Kurt, you startled me. I wasn't expecting you to text so soon after I sent you the last e-mail.

9:40 pm

Kurt: I might have been waiting for it with my inbox open...

9:43 pm

Blaine: Wow. Did you really miss me that much?

9:47 pm

Kurt: Well, you know, we've been both so busy lately, and I really wanted to talk to you.

9:49 pm

Blaine: Honestly I don't know why we waited so long to start texting each other.

9:53 pm

Kurt: I don't know either. I still wanna write you via mail tho! I love writing.

9:56 pm

Blaine: I'm not so fond of writing, but I'll make an effort. Just for you.

9:57 pm

Kurt: I'm touched.

10:00 pm

Blaine: [rolls eyes] I can tell when you're laughing at me, Kurt.

10:01 pm

Kurt: Sorry.

10:02 pm

Blaine: You're still laughing.

10:03 pm

Kurt: No I'm not! It was just a jiggle.

10:05 pm

Blaine: I'm starting to rethink this whole texting thing.

10:08 pm

Kurt: No, please, don't abandon me! I'm lost without you!

10:11 pm

Blaine: Fine, I won't. Mostly because I could use someone to text to during boring lessons, too.

10:13 pm

Kurt: How kind of you.

10:15 pm

Blaine: I know, I'm very magnanimous.

10:16 pm

Kurt: Is that a bad word?

10:19 pm

Blaine: Are you seriously asking me? I thought you were the one who liked writing.

10:21 pm

Kurt: Just kidding! I quoted my step brother. Didn't realize you wouldn't get it.

10:22 pm

Blaine: That actually sounds like something Finn would say...

10:25 pm

Kurt: Are you two close?

10:27 pm

Blaine: Not really. I don't make friends that easily.

10:28 pm

Kurt: That's not true.

10:30 pm

Blaine: ...

10:32 pm

Kurt: I don't understand how anyone could find difficult getting along with you. You're a pretty likeable guy.

10:35 pm

Blaine: Thank you, but I'm not so extroverted in real life.

10:37 pm

Kurt: That's a shame, you have so many interesting things to say.

10:40 pm

Blaine: Oh my god, stop it, you're making me blush!

10:41 pm

Kurt:

10:43 pm

Blaine: Anyway, Finn seems a nice guy. Maybe I'll try talking to him more.

10:44 pm

Kurt: That would be great!

10:47 pm

Blaine: What about you? Are you close to him?

10:50 pm

Kurt: I was. But since I moved, I have talked to him only a few times. It's mostly my fault.

10:54 pm

Blaine: Why don't you call him more often?

10:57 pm

Kurt: I don't really know. I guess I don't wanna think about Lima too much.

11:01 pm

Blaine: You're still in contact with Rachel, tho.

11:03 pm

Kurt: It's different with her, and she can be really insistent.

11:04 pm

Blaine: Oh I know.

11:07 pm

Kurt: [giggles] How are you holding up with her ego in Glee club?

11:08 pm

Blaine: Surprisingly well. Apparently she likes me enough to let me duet with her at sectionals. And it was supposed to be a solo at first.

11:09 pm

Kurt: Rachel Berry willingly gave up a solo!? You must be really good.

11:11 pm

Blaine: Not to brag or anything, but... ;)

11:12 pm

Kurt: Blaine. Did you really just send me a winky face?

11.13 pm

Blaine: What if I did?

11:15 pm

Kurt: ... don't make me answer to this question.

11:16 pm

Blaine: Alright. I should go to sleep anyway.

11:17 pm

Kurt: Oh, okay! Sorry if I made you stay up!

11:19 pm

Blaine: It was a pleasure. ;)

11:21 pm

Kurt: ...Blaine!

11:22 pm

Blaine: Goodnight, Kurt.

11:23 pm

Kurt: Goodnight.

When Blaine got home from school on Monday afternoon, he found his Kurt waiting for him in his bedroom. He was so relieved to see him there, sitting in his usual spot on the bed.

"Hi." He said softly.

"Hi." Answered Kurt. "Come sit next to me. I wanna talk with you."

Blaine gladly did as he said.

"I missed you so much, angel." He whispered.

"I missed you too." Kurt whispered back.

They sat like that, talking about anything that crossed their minds, until Blaine heard his mum yelling at him to come down to eat dinner.

Things between Kurt and Blaine seemed to be like they had always been. Blaine wondered if he had just misunderstood his behaviour in the last days.

Before leaving, Kurt murmured: "I'm sorry if I seemed distant to you during the past week. I guess I was just in a bad mood, but I'm okay now. You don't need to worry anymore."

Oh. So there had been something troubling him. Blaine didn't dare ask anything else about it, tho. He was just happy things were back to normal.

"Goodbye, Blaine."

"Goodbye, Kurt. I love you."

He didn't get any answer.

Back to normal indeed.
