Hello my loyal readers. I regret to say that I, on the other hand, have not been as loyal as I would have hoped and expected, and am here to apologize for not updating in months. I have become entangled in my life's events and the pressures of school and the theatrical plays that I am in and plan to audition for have kept me busy and, to be honest, this story was in the back of my mind. My health has also been hurting recently and, to sum it up in one sentence, really made me look at the world differently, dragged down my self-esteem, and clouded my thoughts. Another part of the reason for my lack of wanting to finish this story was that my planning paper (which included everything that would ever happen in this story, every bit of planning, all the way to the end, which would be chapter 15) was lost. This, as you can imagine, was incredibly frustrating and the temptation to just quit the story was so overpowering that that is what I planned. Now, however, I am here with some good news.
Today it is the first day of winter break, and I was customizing my tumblr theme when I noticed that one of my links went to my fanfiction account. Now, in the past few months, any remembrance to this site was linked with intense guilt, since my one an only story was left incomplete and any loyal readers I had ever gained were now probably off in their own lives, completely forgetting about this story and not caring to find out what happened next. I was surprised, however, that in the last few months I had gained some reviews. They were so kind and it pained me to think that they were probably from forever ago, asking for the next chapter that never came. Many were like that, but I was shocked to find that the most recent was from today!
That being said, it is extremely comforting to think that at least one reader still remembers this story, and wants to know what happens next. I wanted to message her, ArkieR, on private saying thank you for the motivation and kind words, but her pm was disabled so got the idea to make an announcement to everyone: I am indeed planning on continuing this story.
Now I'm not sure if she is the only reader that this bit of news impacts, since I wouldn't be surprised if most of you won't bother to find out what happens, but it inspires me and I am fully planning on completing this story. I will create a new planning sheet, even though I already know it will be frustrating trying to recall what I had originally planned, and trying to match everything up so that everything that happens to our two parties, Robin's POV and the League's, will flow and make sense and coordinate up until the point when they meet up again.
So, all in all, I am happy to say that no matter what, this story is going to be finished. I thought it just a bit too cruel to cut it off there, especially when the riddle was just solved. You can expect to see the next chapter soon—next Sunday (not tomorrow) at the latest. I now offer you my hand to step back into this story, into this world, and run alongside Robin as he "escapes" and agonize with Batman as he desperately searches for the one person he would give everything for—his son.
Thank you so much to everyone that has reviewed—especially ArkieR. It has truly made me happy that you have taken the time to comment, and now my motivation has been restored, at least for the moment. Motivation or not, however, this story is getting completed—although it helps when my spirits are high and hopeful, as they are now. Due to my redoing my planning sheet, there will probably not be exactly 15 Chapters, but I, and you if you choose to bring this story back into your life, will see Fighting Fear through. Thank you to everyone who has ever loved this story. Now you can love it until the end.
