Author's Note: I came up with this just after reading the latest chapter in Tartaros's saga of making us cry. Just a short one-shot about how I think Wendy's going to feel about the announcement Makarov is going to have to make. Spoilers for Fairy Tail Chapter 416.

Wendy Marvell never really expected it to last.

Her entire life, it had never lasted.

Sure, she had Charle since Cait Shelter, but Charle wasn't human. She was always there for Wendy, yes, but it just wasn't the same. Besides, Charle rarely treated Wendy like an equal, anyway. And one wasn't enough.

First, there had been Grandeeneey.

The beautiful and white sky dragon been Wendy's mother for a few, wonderful years. She had cared for Wendy, kept her warm, brought her delicious food, and most importantly, taught her magic. It had been wonderful, every time she had been able to conjure up a circle and Grandeeneey would give her that wonderful smile Wendy so craved. But, she had vanished, leaving Wendy with nothing but her memories, tears, and Sky Dragonslayer magic.

Next, was Mystogan.

He found her, wandering around and crying over Grandeeneey's vanishment. He was the first human she had seen, since, well… Wendy didn't know. She wasn't sure she had ever seen another human before. All she knew was that he looked like her and he had blue hair like her, and when she clung to his leg, he was warm, like Grandeeneey. His smile was warm, too. And he traveled with her, and he always managed to find yummy food, no matter where they were. But then he shouted that strange word, "Anima," and left her at Cait Shelter. And she lost another family.

Cait Shelter would serve as her third family.

It was the first time she had been around so many people, and it was intimidating, to say the least. But they were so, so, nice and their smiles were warm, too, and Wendy would have been perfectly fine staying there forever. And then she found that egg in the woods and a little white, winged cat was inside. The little cat said her name was Charle and she kept trying to fly away from Wendy, but Wendy would run after her and tell her that they were friends, and eventually Charle seemed to believe it. Her life changed when Cait Shelter was called upon to help defeat the Oracion Seis, and Wendy volunteered, to meet Natsu Dragneel, her fellow Dragonslayer. And she felt so useful and her guild would be so proud but they couldn't be proud, because they disappeared right before her eyes and Wendy had no one again. But then Erza Scarlet, who had lost someone very important to her too, just the night before, held her shoulder and told her she could come to Fairy Tail. And Wendy was so, so happy.

And so she went to Fairy Tail, with Charle, and they had so much fun, even in the dark moments in Edolas or fighting Hades or the dragons. And she became powerful, living up to her name as a Dragonslayer, and she defeated a Tartaros demon by herself by going into Dragon Force and it was all because of Fairy Tail. But the dust settled, and everyone cried, and Grandeeneey was gone again, and Natsu and Grey left, and Makarov said Fairy Tail was disbanding. And while everyone still cried, and Charle with them, Wendy stood apart, by herself once more, and all she could hear was, once again, the tears and the memories and the roar of her magic and the thought in her head, just that one thought, 'I knew it wouldn't last, I knew it wouldn't last.'
