A/N: This song is one of my favorites from Tay. It just begged me to be turned into a story, so here it is! It takes place in the 70s/80s, and it's AU. Serena was never raped, but she's not married to Liv's biological father.

She said, I was seven and you were nine

I looked at you like the stars that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and falling in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said oh my my my

Seven-year-old Olivia Benson got out of the school bus smiling widely. It had been the last day of school, which meant she now had three months to spend with her neighbor and best friend Elliot Stabler. Being two years older than her, he wasn't in her class, not that it mattered: he would always help her with homework so they'd have more time to play.

"Hi mommy!"

"Hey beautiful!" Serena, her mother, hugged her tightly. "How was your day at school?"

"It was great! Ms. Anderson let us draw a picture of what we are going to do for summer" the girl said, taking a drawing from her backpack.

"She did? And what did you draw?"

"Me and Ellie" Olivia said and showed her mom the picture. "We're playing."

"Hey there princess!"

"DADDY!" Olivia squealed and ran to the man, who picked her up.

"Can I see your picture?" he asked and reached for the drawing in the girl's hand.

"It's me and Ellie playing!"

"I see that, baby girl! Is he your boyfriend?" he joked.

"Don!" Serena reprehended him.

"Daddy!"

"What?"

"Boys have cooties!"

"Oh really? Do I have cooties too?"

"Yes, but you're my daddy. Your cooties are okay."

"And Ellie, doesn't he have cooties?"

"Yes, but he's my friend. His cooties are okay too."

As the family laughed, the bell rang and Serena went for the door.

"Liv, honey! Guess who is it?"

Olivia ran to the living room and squealed seeing her best friend at the doorstep.

"Ellie!" she said as she ran to him.

"Hi Livvy!" the boy said as they hugged. "C'mon, let's play!"

Take me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up, you were bigger than me
You never did, You never did
Take me back when our world was one-block-wide
I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I
Oh my my my my

The two kids climbed the tree in Elliot's house's backyard to get to the tree house their fathers had built so that they had a safe, large place to play. Elliot was trying to convince her to play fight.

"C'mon Livvy!"

"I don't want to, Ellie!"

"You're just scared that I'll beat you because I'm stronger than you" he provoked her, sticking his tongue out.

"No you're not!"

"Yes, I aaam!"

"No, you're not Ellie!", the girl said and punched his arm as hard as she could, which only tickled him.

Elliot punched her back very lightly. They used to do it just for fun, never hurting each other, but with Olivia being two years younger than him, Elliot would always take an extra care and let her win.

Sure enough, by the end of their so called fight, Elliot was laying on his belly and Olivia was sitting on his back.

"I quit, Livvie, I quit! You won!"

"I knew it!", the girl grinned. "Aaaand, I get a prize for winning!"

"You do? Who said so?"

"I did! Aaaand I dare you... To kiss me!"

"Eeewww Livvie! No!"

"You think I have cooties Ellie!"

"I know you do! Girls do! Eww!"

"C'mon Ellie! It's a kissy on my cheeky!"

"Okay..." the boy sighed and leaned forward to kiss Olivia's cheek. However, she ran away as fast as she could, laughing out loud.

I was sixteen when suddenly
I wasn't that little girl you used to see
But your eyes still shined like pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
They never believed we'd really fall in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said oh my my my

"Ellie! C'mon, we're gonna be late!", Olivia yelled from downstairs.

"Where did you say you kids are going honey?", Elliot's mother asked Olivia.

"Movies with a few people from school. Ellie's not really into it but I've been talking about this film since forever so I dragged him with me."

"You're wearing that?" Elliot asked when he got downstairs and saw how short Olivia's skirt was.

"Yeah, got a problem?"

"Nope, not at all", he lied. "Let's go".

"El's jealous of how good you look, girl!" Elliot's father, Joseph, joked.

"Joseph!"

"Dad!", Elliot reprehended him, his cheeks blushing as a sign that his father was more than right. He took Olivia's hand and they walked out of the house.

Take me back to the creek beds we turned up
Two A. M. riding in your truck
and all I need is you next to me
Take me back to the time we had our very first fight
The slamming of doors instead of kissing goodnight
You stayed outside 'til the morning light
Oh my my my my

After the movies, the teenagers were sitting on Elliot's car, which was parked in front of Olivia's house, talking. Time flew by and it was already 2 in the morning, but neither of them wanted to leave.

"What's with Zeke?"

"What about him?"

"You tell me. You were the one he kept staring at. Your legs, actually."

"You're gonna give me a lecture about my skirt again? What, are you jealous?", Olivia scoffed.

Elliot wanted to be honest. He wanted to tell her YES, he was as jealous as he could be, but at the same time he was scared.

He was scared of her reaction. He was scared of leaving to college and losing her to an excuse of a boyfriend who didn't deserve half of his girl. He was scared she'd run if she knew he was jealous. So he lied.

"No, it's just... It's not good for you to go out dressed like that."

Olivia scoffed inward, frustrated. She wanted him to tell her he was jealous, but she knew he only saw her as a childhood friend, a seven-year-old girl who liked playing fight and pretending she had won. She was scared that he would leave for college, meet a girl who was both intelligent and beautiful and forget all about her.

"Like that? What do you mean?"

"Like a w..." Elliot started speaking, but stopped himself before he could say something that would hurt Olivia.

His attempt of disguising his words failed miserably, though.

"Like a what? Like a whore?"

Elliot's guilty silence was the answer she needed.

"You're such a hypocrite! When we're at school you and Kathy Malone look like you are JetGlue-ed to each other and she's not even your friend, and you call me a whore? You know what, Elliot? FUCK OFF!" Olivia screamed and stormed out of the car, slamming the door after her.

The following morning, Olivia woke up with her eyes swollen because she had cried so much after the fight with Elliot. She opened her bedroom's curtains and looked down at the street, only to see the all too familiar truck parked in front of her house. She sighed and started getting ready for her day.

A few years had gone and come around
We were sitting at our favorite spot in town
And you looked at me, got down on one knee

"It feels like forever since we last sat at this bench."

"It does, right? Brings back memories."

"I miss that time. Being a kid and not having a care in the world..." Olivia said.

"I do, too. "

"I wouldn't change a thing."

"Neither would I. Our story is special, and like all the special things, it deserves a beautiful happy ending" Elliot said.

"What do you mean?" Olivia asked, getting scared of what would come next.

Elliot got up from 'their' bench and got down on his knee in front of Olivia, who screamed and threw herself at her boyfriend before he could open his mouth.

"Yes! I will marry you!"

"I love you, Liv."

"I love you too, El."

Take me back to the time
when we walked down the aisle
Our whole town came and our mamas cried
You said I do and I did too
Take me home where we met so many years before
We'll rock our babies on that very front porch
After all this time, you and I

They had the most beautiful white wedding the city had ever seen. There wasn't a single person present who didn't shed a tear here and there. Years later, The babies came and the couple couldn't be happier.

I'll be eighty-seven; you'll be eighty-nine
I'll still look at you like the stars that shine
In the sky, oh my my my
