A Kind of Sisterhood
My Dearest Fiona,
Your Mistresses Quinn and Annie seem to have taken up residence in the vicinity of our little household. I believe this to be the case as the two of them seem to be about quite often.
Frankly, it can be quite overwhelming at times. Four human females, sometimes with mates or males otherwise desirous of their company- really, it makes for a distinct lack of peace and quiet. Mistress Annie seems particularly determined to groom me; she has an uncanny ability to find me no matter where I attempt to seek a bit of solitude.
Still, it concerns me that you may find yourself aggrieved at the loss of this younger female attention that you so enjoyed in your home. I cannot imagine how you might be occupying your time. Are you well?
On another note (as I often have little else to do) I have been observing the interaction between the females when the two younger ones visit. I am certain that my Mistress Daria and your Mistress Quinn are littermates, as they share a faint but distinct olfactory signature that is always present even when masked by other, much stronger fragrances. That is to say, they are true sisters, born of the same mother and I believe sired by the same male.
Yet, there exists a bonding between Miss Daria and Miss Jane, and a corresponding bond between the younger Miss Quinn and Miss Annie. Certainly, there are subtle differences in markings and colorations that seem to suggest that there are no genetic links with Mistresses Jane and Annie. Nevertheless, I believe that there is yet another kind of human link; the state of which seems to be called being "Besties." It seems to be a form of female solidarity that is arrived at by mutual agreement.
I find the concept quite endearing. While I do not pretend to understand the curious crenellations of the human psyche, I like it. It reminds me of the affection that I feel for you, and the motivations that I hope we share that sustain the desire for this continued contact between us.
Your "Bestie",
Weevil Morgendorffer-Lane
