Chapter 10

Yugi yawned and stretched his arms. "That is the best sleep I've had in months". Yugi smiled as he looked out the window at the afternoon sun. "I wonder if the others are back from the market yet" Yugi thought aloud as he got out of bed and dressed himself.

He put on some black leather pants, a blue tank top and a leather jacket. He also put on a black leather collar around his neck and a belt which had a small silver chain wrapped around it. "I really can't be bothered to stick with the style of this world" Yugi chuckled to himself as he looked at his outfit in the mirror.

After ten minutes of getting ready Yugi finally left the room. Yugi smiled kindly at the two guards outside. There was a purple haired, red eyed teen who looked like he was fifteen just like Yugi. He had a tough fierce look and had a hand clenched around the hilt of his sword. Next to the purple man was a girl with light pink shoulder length hair. She had leaf green eyes that sparkled in the torchlight. "Good morning sir, did you have a good nap?" the girl asked.

"It was fine… uh" Yugi started. "Sakura, my name is Sakura" Sakura replied with a smile. Yugi chuckled. "Well it was a good nap Sakura, and please just call me Yugi". Sakura nodded and the purple haired teen folded his arms, sighed and leant against the wall. "Who's your companion?" Yugi asked. "Oh that's Kanji, don't mind him he is cold and distant to everyone. Also has a very bad temper" Sakura said as she introduced Kanji.

"It's nice to meet you Kanji" Yugi greeted as he extended his hand. Kanji ignored the hand and rudely replied "I don't shake hands". "Ok" Yugi said as his hand fell back to his side. "So Kanji how long have you been a guard for?" Yugi asked. "Seven Years" Kanji replied. Yugi sighed as Kanji ignored him and Sakura and continued to stare at the wall.

"Well my friends are still out in the market so do you want to accompany me for the day?" Yugi asked. "Sure" Sakura replied happily. "Whatever" Kanji grumbled. "I know let's check out the library, I've heard that there are a lot of interesting books in there" Yugi said happily. "That's a great idea" Sakura replied before smiling. "Umm… do you know where the library is?" Yugi asked nervously making Sakura laugh. "Yeah follow me. Come on Kanji" Sakura giggled before walking off down the corridor. Kanji groaned and followed along with Yugi

Maisie sprinted around while shouting random things about "Magical Flying Rainbow Ponies". "I thought that you were going to stop her from eating all those sweets" Harry groaned as Maisie started to laugh crazily again. "I tried but she managed to get away from me" Martha pouted. "Okay guys let's just hurry and get back to the castle. I'm sure Yugi is bored out of his mind by now" Vicky stated. Kimimaru chuckled at that and Adrianne started to speed walk. "Well she's in a hurry" Rose pointed out.

"Yay we're almost back" Maisie shouted as they reached the gate to the garden. She ran off and shouted more about her rainbow ponies while Rose, Martha, Harry and Vicky tried to catch her before she caused any damage. Kimimaru smiled as he watched before he also joined in.

Adrianne grumbled at them before she stomped off to find Yugi.

Yugi glared as he tried to reach for a book that was on a shelf just out of his reach. "I hate being really short" Yugi snapped as he tried jumping to get the book. Yugi managed to knock it and it wobbled on the edge of the shelf before falling and hitting Yugi on the head.

"Ow" Yugi moaned as he tried to ignore the pain throbbing in his head and bent down to pick up the book. The book was labelled 'The Reign of the Mages'. "Problem Yugi?" Kanji snickered. Yugi chuckled and rubbed his head. "No I'm fine Kanji, never been better". "Oh My God you actually got Kanji to smile, that is a miracle" Sakura cried excitedly. "What I'm aloud some friends" Kanji retorted.

Yugi smiled as he watched Kanji and Sakura argue friendly and opened the book. Yugi had barely read the first line when Adrianne came storming into the library. Yugi groaned and shut the book and Kanji and Sakura bowed. "You two, why aren't you at your post? You have work to do" Adrianne snapped. "Don't blame them it's my fault. I convinced them to come with me" Yugi pleaded.

Adrianne smiled at Yugi. "Okay I'll let you two off this time but this is your last chance. Now go" Adrianne sighed. "Yes your highness" Kanji and Sakura replied before scurrying out of the room. Yugi pouted at Adrianne before he picked up the book and also turned to leave.

"Yugi wait" Adrianne called out after him. Yugi turned to face her. "What is it Princess?" Yugi asked. Adrianne reached into her pocket and took out the pendent. "I wanted to give you a gift, please will you wear it". Yugi glanced at the pendent before replying "I don't know, I don't really…". "Please" Adrianne interrupted desperately. Yugi sighed as he gave in. 'Well she might leave me alone if I wear it. I don't think I could handle her pestering me to wear it every day'. "Fine" Yugi huffed as he held out his hand for the pendent. Adrianne smiled and handed it over. She watched as Yugi lifted the pendent up and hung it around his neck.

The necklace pulsed slightly making Yugi shudder. "Yugi?" Adrianne asked hopefully. Yugi slowly looked up. Once he caught sight of Adrianne he smiled sweetly. "Adrianne" he replied before he took her hand and gave it a quick kiss. 'It worked! It really worked' Adrianne cheered. "Adrianne would you like to walk around the garden with me?" Yugi asked. "I'd love to" Adrianne answered. Yugi grinned as he took her hand and lead her out.

"Ahh where is Yugi" Maisie exclaimed as she paced around the training area. "He should have been here half an hour ago" Rose complained. "Let's go and see where he is" Martha decided.

It had been five days since Yugi had put on the pendent and the others were starting to get suspicious. Yugi had become cold and distant to his friends and followed Adrianne's every command like a mindless Zombie.

Flashback (the day after the pendent was given)

Adrianne screamed as she looked at her ruined dress. She was drenched in wine which had stained her blue dress a dark red colour. Maisie and Vicky apologised and extended hands to help her up while Martha, Rose and Harry cleaned up the broken pot shards.

You see Vicky, Maisie, Martha, Rose and Harry had been helping out by carrying pots of wine to the kitchen. Maisie and Vicky had been carrying the last pot when Adrianne suddenly came running down the corridor and crashed into them.

Adrianne slapped the hands being offered to her and glared up at Maisie and Vicky. "Adrianne what happened to you?" Yugi shouted as he came running down the corridor. He helped Adrianne back to her feet before he narrowed his eyes at Maisie and Vicky. "What did you do?" he snarled.

Maisie gasped in shock as Yugi snarled at them while Vicky replied "It was an accident; we were carrying pots of wine to the kitchen when Adrianne suddenly came running into us". "Don't lie" Adrianne screeched before turning to Yugi. "They did it on purpose. They spilt the wine on my dress because they knew it would upset me then they started teasing me" she wined.

Yugi glared at the two girls. "I can't believe you would do something like that. You are selfish and ungrateful brats. Adrianne is letting you stay as guests and this is how you repay her!" Yugi growled. "But Yugi it was an-" Maisie started before Yugi cut her off. "I've heard enough of your lies".

Tears started to form in Maisie's eyes before she walked up to Yugi and slapped him. "I can't believe you would believe her over all your friends. What happened to you Yugi? You've changed into a completely different person. If you don't trust us then fine don't be our friend" Maisie shouted as tears poured down her cheeks. She looked at Yugi one more time before running off down the corridor.

Vicky shot Yugi a disappointed look before she said "Maisie's right, you have changed. I can't believe you would say something like that to her". Vicky then turned around and ran after her distressed friend.

Harry, Rose and Martha glared at Adrianne before they also ran off. Yugi put a hand to his flaming, stinging, crimson cheek. "Oh My God Yugi! Are you ok Honey? I can't believe she slapped you" Adrianne exclaimed as she started to fuss over him. "I'm fine" Yugi replied.

\Yugi! Yugi please answer me\ a voice called out desperately in his head. Yugi gasped. "What's wrong Yugi?" Adrianne asked. "I think I need to lie down for a bit, I swear I just heard a voice in my head" Yugi replied. "Ok" Adrianne said as she stroked Yugi's cheek before walking away.

\Yugi why won't you answer? I've been trying to contact you for two days now\

/Who is this and why are you in my head/ Yugi demanded.

\Yugi what's wrong? \

/Who are you and how do you know my name/

\It's me Yami, what's wrong Aibou? Why don't you remember me\?

/Geese I'm going insane now, I can't believe I'm talking to a voice in my head/

\Aibou\ the voice exclaimed before the link cut out. Yugi sighed as he shuffled off to his room

End Flashback

Maisie frowned as they searched for Yugi. "You know I only give people one chance-" she started before Martha cut her off. "I don't think that was Yugi". "What?" everyone exclaimed. Martha sighed before she explained. "Haven't you noticed that Yugi has been acting strange for the past couple of days? Something is wrong and I think that he may be under some sort of spell. We know Yugi, he would trust us and believe what we said and he would never say such horrible things to us".

"Oh" Vicky said as she connected the dots. "So we just have to find the source of the spell and destroy it, then he will be back to normal" Harry said. "Yep" Martha confirmed. "Has anyone noticed anything new about Yugi?" Rose asked.

Silence fell as everyone thought. "I think I know" a voice called out. They all turned around to see Kimimaru approaching. "What? What is it?" Everyone asked. "I was passing the library five days ago when I saw Adrianne begging Yugi to put on that pendent he always wears. When he put it on he suddenly acted like he was in love with her. I think that is the source of the enchantment" Kimimaru explained.

"So how are we going to get the pendent off Yugi?" Rose asked. "I don't know but we really need to find Yugi" Martha replied. "I saw Yugi and Adrianne heading towards the throne room" Kimimaru gasped. "Then let's hurry" Harry shouted as he ran off. The others followed.

However when they reached the throne room they got the shock of their life. "Ahh you're here just in time. Yugi and Adrianne have something they want to tell you" Pelagius announced as the six of them ran into the room. They looked around to see Yugi and Adrianne standing arm in arm. "We're getting married" Adrianne cheered.

Tears came to Kimimaru's eyes as he felt his heart break while Martha, Maisie, Vicky, Harry and Rose gasped. "You can't Yugi" Maisie shouted stunning everyone including the king who #!*% a brow in interest. "And why not, I love her" Yugi calmly replied. "Because of that enchanted pendent hanging around your neck" Maisie answered.

There was silence as everyone stared at the pendent. Pelagius rose from the throne and walked over to Adrianne and Yugi. "Father what are you doing?" Adrianne asked nervously as the king hovered his hand over the pendent. "Adrianne where did you get this pendent?" Pelagius asked in a low dangerous voice. Adrianne gulped. "I bought it off a man". "This pendent contains black magic. Do you know how dangerous it is? It holds a powerful charm spell but also a spell that drains power leaving the wearer defenceless" the king seethed.

"Well it looks like our pendent has been discovered. Oh well, I'm afraid that your time with the light has come to an end" a voice called out. Everyone gasped and looked towards the throne. Kuro was lounging on the throne. He chuckled as five guards ran towards him. He suddenly jumped up and kicked the first guard in the head before dodging the second guard and kicking him in the back. He jumped up as two other guards attacked from either side and they hit each other before falling to the ground. Kuro ran forwards and hit the last guard sending him flying into a pillar.

Kuro chuckled as he turned to the stunned group. "You really think you can stop me".

Yami: No Yugi, You are dead Adrianne!

Adrianne: Yugi protect me!

Yugi: Get away from her Yami *attacks him*

Yami: *dodges and pulls Yugi into a hug*

Yami: Ha Ha he's mine now
