Chuckling darkly Krieg took another drag of his Iho-Stick as he reminisced on how he had met the Sniper all those month's ago, since he had met the Sniper, Krom had really come out of his shell. Instead of a wimp, Krieg had turned him into a Warrior that could shoot the ear's off an Eldar without ruffling frakker's hair. Frowning, he remembered the time he had spent upon the hellish world of Kronus serving as an apprentice to a high-ranking Magos Explorator that was scouring that shithole for STC's around eight months before the orks had come into the Golgothan those system, all those time's he had been forced to get up at dawn, Throne, that was only two hours after he went to god-damned sleep. Krieg shuddered, remembering how they dove down into a 'Fallen Ruin' to try and find one only to find a dozen skeleton-things with glowing green eyes appear out of nowhere. The team opened up with everything they had as volley after volley of bolt-rounds and melta-blast's hammered into them, only for them to rise again and again and again before arc's of green lightning tore into the squad of servitors, bionics and carapace armour providing no protection against the fearsome weapons, unlike them, they did not rise.
Flashback...
"Forward to the objective" croaked the leading Tech-Priest as the assemblage of servitor's walked up the short hill lanced by massive obsidian monolith's like the teeth of some massive animal as they trudged up the path toward the cave where technology remained. They had come here to try and find an STC for the Magos Explorator seeing as he was currently held up at Victory Bay, trying to reactivate a Hellstorm Cannon. The team consisted of a dozen combat servitor's armed with Servo-Arms, Multi-Melta's and Heavy-Bolter's led by a red-robed Tech-Priest carrying a Power-Axe. "How much further do we have to walk before we get there?" Krieg questioned as he clambered up one of the monoliths whilst unslinging a Meltagun from his shoulder as he scanned the area around them. "Four-Point-Seven kilometre's Corporal Krieg Dokken of the Forth Golgothan Regiment Seventh Squad in training to Magos Explorator 44#97/Phalanx" Every single servitor replied at the same time. Needless to say, Krieg was incredibly unnerved by this as he fell from the top of the monolith, hitting the ground with a thump before he picked up his Meltagun whilst he rubbed his Flak-Armoured leg.
Letting out a growl, Krieg opened his mouth to retort at the half-human cyborg's but was cut off by the Tech-Priest "Movement, seven-hundred meter's northeast" The servant of the machine-god intoned, his voice cold and emotionless as he turned to the now standing form of Krieg. "Corporal Krieg Dokken, for services to the machine-god and his servant's, you are gifted with the title of Honorary Tech-Priest Primus" The Tech-Priest said, its voice not coming from its mouth but the vox-speaker's implanted in its throat as it kneeled before Krieg who was currently in shock at this sudden turn of event's, before he could respond but was interrupted as the Tech-Priest pulled a ring from within his robes and, still kneeling, placed it on the index finger of Krieg's left hand. The ring was gold with a black square of onyx set in the middle with a golden snake with shining red eyes set in the middle of it, "This ring was made Ur-Gold and was made specifically for you in repayment of your deeds for the machine-god" The Priest finished as he rose to his feet his Bionic eyes whirring from within his hood.
"A snake?" Krieg questioned whilst he looked at the ring, "Your affinity for venomous reptilian species was noted Tech-Priest Primus Krieg Dokken" The Tech-Priest intoned again. The Tech-Priest shimmered as a bubble of energy formed around him, shielding him from a emerald-green bolt of lightning as a dozen skeletal robot-things advanced up the hill towards the squad. As one, the combat servitor's turned and fired their multitude of heavy weapon's at the advancing machine's, scything them down in a heartbeat. However as Krieg let out a smile, the very machine's he had seen wiped out mere moment ago were repairing themselves before his eyes as their metal body's reformed and connection cables reknit. This time the Tech-Priest moved up as a pair of missile racks whirred into position atop his shoulders at logic-engine's and auspex homer's zeroed in on the advancing unit of killing machine's before the missile's screamed into flight as they arced into the air, leaving fiery contrail's of smoke behind second's before they hit, their krak-warheads detonating in spectacular fashion whilst sending bit's of metal and scrap scything through the air. This time they did not rise but disappear into clouds of black smoke.
"What the hell were those thing's?" Krieg questioned, gripping his Melta-Gun with both gauntleted hands as his eyes scanned for more of the robot-things. "Unknown, classification machine-heretek alpha-" The Tech-Priest was cut off as an emerald-green bolt of lightning slammed into one of the heavy-bolter armed servitor's, atomising it at a molecular level as its destroyed husk fell to the ground with a thump. "Hostile's detected" The remaining servitors intoned as they turned to face the next group of enemy's, their heavy weapon screaming into life once more as they laid waste to another squad of the robot-things, this time coming from in front of them down the hill. However, by doing this they had come into range of the Multi-Melta's as the machines came under heavy fire from the relentless barrage of bolt-rounds as they marched without pause toward the group, heedless of the potent weaponry.
With a scream the Multi-Melta's roared, sending a trio of heat-beam's as hot as the heart of a sun straight into the first rank of the machine-things, turning them into pools of molten metal as the beams sliced through another rank of the mech-warriors. The third rank of the machine-things advanced over the remains of the first without pause before they levelled their own weaponry at the squad, without hesitating Krieg hit the ground as his Hive-Ganger instinct took over just as a volley of emerald lightning tore through the servitors like a knife through butter, slicing down the last two heavy-bolter armed cyborgs and slaughtered the multi-melta armed servitor's, the pair of servo-armed servitors had taken up position inside the Tech-Priest's refractor field and so were immune to the barrage.
With a roar, Krieg levelled his Meltagun at the nearest machine-thing before he squeezed the trigger, the weapon howled as its casing turned red-hot as its heat-beam impacted the machine's 'face' turning it to slag as it fell into a heap of twisted metal. Rising to his feet, he fired his Meltagun again and again and again at the advancing legion of machine's with each shot downing another one of them. Once more the Tech-Priest added his weapons into the equation as his Multi-Laser raked the undying machines, turning them to scrap as its overpowered laser tore through them like a knife through butter. Unfortunately the Tech-Priest's barrage was cut short as a meter-long blade erupted from his chest before tearing upwards through his skull, splattering the milky-white synth-blood the Tech-Priest had instead of crimson red-blood over the pair servitors before swung out like the fangs of a snake, decapitating last servitors as their heads rolled on the ash-covered plain's.
Only now did Krieg get a good look at the Tech-Priest's killer, the massive construct stood at close to nine feet tall and was draped with a shadowy cloak of blackness whilst it held a pair of massive blades, each a four-foot long piece of glittering obsidian in each of its massive hands whilst glowing green eyes seemed to stare into Krieg's very soul. Tearing his eyes from the towering machine, Krieg realized that by doing so that the machine-things from before had surrounded him with a ring of firepower as he turned his gaze back to the Leader of them, wondering why he had not been shot to death yet. "Hurry up, I haven't got all day to die" Krieg said with a growl, resting the butt of his still-hot Meltagun against the ground as he stared down the Leader. As soon as those words had left his mouth, the machine replied "Gladly" as it raised both of the swords into the air, intending to decapitate to Hive-Ganger.
By some dark miracle, a pair of Las-Bolts slammed into the things face as a pair of Razorbacks advanced up the hill, weapons blasting at the machine things as the massive APC's slid to a holt as side-mounted doors opened to disgorge their precious cargo. With a grin Krieg turned, expecting that a dozen Space Marines would leap from the Razorbacks and slaughter these machine-things in their droves, that is however before his eyes trained on the occupants. They were Space Marines, that's was for certain but each of them were garbed in blood-red armour with a bleached-white robe tied around it, Skulls decorated there armour as there Bolter's barked into life, mowing down the last of the machine-things in a hail of lead. One of them took a syringe and jabbed it into Krieg's neck causing everything to go dark.
Krieg couldn't remember anything anything past that, seeing as he woke up on Golgotha, he really wanted to believe that it was all a dream.
But the ring on his finger told him otherwise.
