(Author's Note: I know the Halloween episode is way overdue, but I literally have had no time. But thank you for waiting my lovelies! Hopefully you enjoy!)
Episode #16 – Halloween
"Why are you dressed like that?" asked Loki, looking at me with confusion and pleasure at the same time.
"It's Halloween. I'm Catwoman," I replied. Loki smiled mischievously at me.
"I like it," he said. "But…what is Hollow-een?"
"Halloween; it's where you dress up as something—usually something scary like a ghost or a zombie, but a lot of people don't do that—and little kids go door to door and everyone hands out candy." Loki's expression was one of bewilderment and utter confusion.
"What?"
"Just stay here and when kids come to the door, give them some candy. But only one each; we want to have enough. The bowl is on the counter. You can have some if you want."
"What do I do with it?"
"You eat it, silly! But don't eat all of it, because it's for the children. I'm going to warn you, candy is really good. It's like, the best food ever. That's why kids work so hard to get some. So don't go crazy, okay?"
"You have my word. Wait, where are you going?"
"I won't be gone long. There's a costume contest in the lobby, and the prize is five hundred dollars. So when the doorbell rings, give kids candy. Got it?"
"Yes."
…
Loki did not understand the concept of Halloween one bit. All he understood was that I told him to give the colorful things in the big bowl to children who would come to the door. So after I left, Loki approached the bowl and furrowed his brow.
"This does not look like any kind of food I have ever seen," he said to himself. He picked up a pack of Sour Patch Kids and carefully examined it. "I suppose I'll try it."
Loki opened the small package of Sour Patch Kids and withdrew a yellow one. He put it in his mouth and when it came upon contact with his tongue, spit it out immediately with a small shriek.
"Ow! That food is painful!"
Loki decided he did not like candy. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Loki grabbed the bowl and opened the door to reveal two young children, a boy and a girl. The boy was dressed like some kind of white thing, and the girl was wearing a blue dress and fake blonde hair.
"Greetings, small ones," Loki said, dropping candy into the children's bags, careful not to give them any Sour Patch Kids. He wouldn't wish that kind of pain on children.
"Trick or treat!" said the children. Loki was taken aback. What did that mean? Was he supposed to do a trick as well?
"Oh, I suppose," he said, and held a green cloud in his hand. The children's eyes widened, and it took the shape of Odin's eight-legged horse. The children were impressed.
"How do you do that?" said the boy.
"I'm magic," Loki replied.
"I'm a ghost," the boy replied. Loki didn't know what a ghost was, or how to respond to that, so he nodded politely.
"I'm Elsa, from Frozen," said the little girl.
"I'm Loki from Asgard. It's a pleasure, Elsa from Frozen." The little girl giggled, and the children scurried down the hall of the apartment. Loki shut the door.
A minute later, the doorbell rang again. When Loki opened it, he was surprised to see a man who looked like Thor standing beside a small child. Thor looked quite different. His armor looked as if it was made by peasants, and his hair was very tangled. Of course, it wasn't Thor. But Loki didn't know that.
"Hi, I'm Thor," he said.
"Brother? What are you doing here?" Loki asked.
"Oh, so you're Loki?" said the man.
"Yes. Do you not recognize me?"
"I suppose I do," said the man, happy to roleplay with Loki.
"What happened to you? Have you been tortured? Did the dark elves attack Asgard?" Loki asked worriedly. The man laughed, impressed at Loki's wonderful acting (or what he thought was acting).
"Oh yes, it was a great battle!" he replied. Loki was almost hysterical.
"Why did you not tell me? Was mother hurt? Why do you look so happy about it; have you gone mad?"
The man gave Loki a strange look. He was realizing the fact that Loki was not joking.
"Hey dude, are you—"
"—You have to take me to Asgard right now! Come on, I have to tell Amelia." Loki busted out the door and grabbed "Thor's" hand, dragging him along.
When Loki reached the lobby, I didn't notice he was there until he was right up in my face with a frightened look on his face.
"AMELIA," he said. I saw him holding on to the strange man dressed like Thor. I knew what was going on immediately. Before he could say anything, I dragged the both of them out into the hall.
"Loki, please tell me you didn't mistake this poor man for your brother," I said. Loki's expression then changed to one I can only describe as "Oh." He looked back at the man and let go of him.
"You are not Thor," he said, as if he was just realizing it.
"Yeah dude, I—"
"—You liar!" Loki's expression became angry. He turned to the man and slammed him against the wall; his hand on his neck.
"Whoa man, I didn't mean anything! I thought we were just roleplaying or something! Your name really is Loki?" Loki tightened his grip on the man's neck and then dropped him. While the poor guy was gasping for breath, Loki kicked him. He was starting to make him bleed.
"Loki, stop! You're hurting him!" he turned to me, rage boiling in his eyes.
"He lied to me!"
"He didn't know; just stop!" Loki wasn't listening to me.
Soon, just as I had feared, security came running up. Loki stopped kicking his new enemy and as soon as he saw the angry security guards, took off running through the halls. He knew who and what they were, because this had not been his first encounter with them. I ran after him.
"Loki!" I called. He kept running. He tripped over a few children on floor 3, and picked one up so he wouldn't trample it. So now he was running with a small boy dressed as Batman in tow.
"Thomas! My baby!" yelled the boy's mother.
It was quite a sight. A long haired man carrying a small Batman with Catwoman and the cops on his tail. Halloween became more of a Batman movie. The guy dressed as Thor just stayed on the floor and moaned.
Eventually I caught up to Loki and cornered him. I gave him a glare.
"Put the kid down." Loki slowly set the small Batman on the ground. Loki looked at me and crossed his arms.
"Amelia, you cannot possibly be angry about this. I have just been brutally lied to and led astray. That false brother got what he deserved."
The security guards then arrived. I turned to them.
"Don't worry Frank. I got him," I said. Yes, I knew them by name. With Loki, I had to.
"You sure?"
"Yep."
I turned back to Loki. The small Batman was still there, staring up at Loki and I. I sighed.
"Come on Loki; we're going home," I said. "I think you've had enough Halloween."
"I'm telling my mom," said the small Batman. Loki looked at the both of us and smiled mischievously.
"Why so serious?"
Did you get that one little reference at the end? ;) (Hint: Joker)
