Chapter 3: "Unexpected…Everything"
Kiara ran as fast as her feet could take her, dodging trees of as tall as the sky and other wild plant-life with expert skill.
Looking back, she saw no one. Didn't even sense the demon chasing her near her vicinity at all.
The blue-eyed Lutherian smirked.
Running at high speed for the past ten minutes or so, Kiara was sure she lost the demon who was adamant in capturing her. She felt him upon her at the beginning, but his aura waned until it completely disappeared. Deciding to take advantage of the here and now, loving how free running made her fee—especially when completely nude—Kiara continued to do so for many more miles. After four miles or so racing through tall, wide oak trees that practically made up this entire forest, she jumped high into their branches, leaping from one to the next. Finally, Kiara stopped to rest only when she truly felt alone, safe from harm.
Controlling her breathing, her body now damp with a sheen of sweat, Kiara walked across the rich, dirt floor to a massive boulder that rested in front of a fallen tree. She climbed it and placed her nude body against its cool, flat surface, a chill coursing through her ultimately calming her heart, which she welcomed with open arms.
Kiara closed her eyes as a light breeze swept over her body like that of an intimate lover's touch. Enjoying the feel of this moment, she basked in it. She felt so free and at peace. Utter calm and stillness.
Why couldn't she and her sister find someplace like this to fill their days? Or acquire this sense of tranquility in their lives? Why were they instead spending their years on the run, fighting, for every breath they took?
Were they cursed to do this forever?
Releasing a heavy sigh, Kiara opened sapphire gems now darkened with worry. Was her sister okay? Did she too lose the demon that was chasing after her? Needing to know, Kiara reached out to her sister telepathically.
—Meg? Hey, Meg! Are you o…-
A split second later, the amber-eyed silver demon was upon her, crouching low over her body his arms resting on his knees. Kiara's breath was caught in the back of her throat, her eyes wide, not believing what she was seeing.
When did he get here? She hadn't felt his presence at all! Even now, she couldn't get a clear reading on him which was nearly impossible-
All of a sudden he froze above her, moving those mysterious, gorgeous eyes that were as bright as the morning sun upward and behind her line of vision to pin whatever he was looking at with sharp precision.
A second later a sound was heard, breaking Kiara's hypnotic trance of the demon above her. She slowly titled her head up and made a move to place both her hands over her mouth in an effort to keep from screaming. But before she could do so, the demon said, "Don't. Move." A sharp command, laced with a trace of an enormous power she somehow knew he possessed.
A spider—practically the size of the boulder Kiara was lying on—was perched on a tree about twelve feet from where they were in all its ugliness. Its eight black, soulless eyes targeted its quarry below, moving ever so slowly, bit by bit, with eight gargantuan, furry black legs, bent like claws.
Eyeing the demon, Kiara obeyed and tried desperately to swallow down her fear, knowing the creature behind her thrived on it. And if there was anything Kiara hated the most in this world…it was spiders. Smalls one, big ones, they all gave her nightmares just the same.
"When I say, 'Move', make for the trees." He whispered, never taking his eyes off what she now saw he saw as his newly found prey.
Kiara gave him a slight nod a second before the evil spider screeched at the top of its lungs, heading towards them now in midflight.
"Move!" Youko yelled, now a solid bullet heading for the creature. Kiara didn't need to be told to move twice and sprinted for the trees. And then the ground shook with a light, but distinctive tremor. Her curiosity got the best of her and she stopped to turn and see the spider on its back after crashing through several, thick oaks, destroying everything in its path. The silver-haired demon was once again on the boulder—this time standing tall—with a thick whip in his right hand, dressed with sharp thorns dripping with the black blood of that revolting creature.
Kiara heard the spider screech once more in what she figured was utter agony before somehow turning its massive body over, balancing on five legs. The demon's attack took out four of the spider's eyes and left a nasty gash over its body. Enraged, the spider sprang for the silver-haired demon, its teeth ready to tear him to shreds. But it never got that far as a cascade of vines sprung forth from beneath the earth shooting up like spears easily penetrating the beast, like several cool, sharp blades. The spider screeched for the last time, black blood oozing out of every fatal wound.
Kiara stared at the deceased creature, apprehensively waiting for it to fake its death and come at them once more. But it didn't. It was truly defeated and now…
Kiara froze in place, her breath rising as the beat of her heart began to accelerate with speed. She remained this way for a few seconds, before slowly turning to spot the silver-haired demon behind her. He was too close, his body a mere three inches away from her own. And every bone in her body yelled at her to run. But she did not. Because to do so would mean the end of her life, a silent promise written on his face. And even if this wasn't so, she had no energy left in her to fight, at least not enough to fight and win.
Without warning a strong, clawed hand gripped her chin and with controlled strength, tipped it up for his viewing. Amber fire clashed against the blue sea splashed with silver crystals that lit up in the rays of the bright sun. And the fire won, Kiara once again caught by the intensity of his gaze.
She was utterly infatuated with them and she had not a clue why. His eyes were so vivid, full of an incandescent ray of light that went from a deep red, soft yellow, to a bright orange and shimmering gold. The change was so subtle, yet so powerful in its own right, speaking volumes, a true reflection of his character. Kiara could literally feel his strength in magnitudes that simultaneously stilled the blood in her veins, while also exciting it in a mad rush. It was brought to the forefront after killing the giant spider. However, his power also resonated within him, a private song that would without a doubt strike fear in the hearts of many. But to her it was a melody that strangely sang to her heart.
Enraptured by this song, his strength, Kiara did the unthinkable and closed the distance between them without much thought. Embracing the flames between them, she covered his lips with her own in a hunger she could not explain nor did she want to at the moment. The silver-haired demon was in no mood to question her actions as he returned her kiss with one of his own that aimed to take everything she had to offer.
One hand around her waist, the other in her honey brown locks, which were damp and chilled after her run, Youko pulled her naked body against him and growled his approval into her mouth. She was filled with curves that other women he bedded lacked, her skin so soft over firm muscles.
Kiara whimpered suddenly, shivering at the exquisite contact made between her skin and his hard body made of steel. Chiseled to perfection, Kiara desperately wanted more so she wrapped her legs high around his waist, squeezing him tight only to freeze when she felt an even greater contact between them right at her…
Kiara ripped herself from Youko's body, placing a good 7 feet between them. She couldn't help it and looked away from his person, her eyes widening. The silver haired demon was in fact endowed graciously, the protrusion in his tunic so huge that she was sure she had never felt anything like it.
A few seconds later—although her breathing was still heavy—she looked up to see him staring at her with a look she did not want to entertain and unconsciously took a step back. His expression changed instantly and though she knew she shouldn't have, she did. She ran.
Or at least she tried to anyway. She hadn't made it five feet before she was forced to remain where she stood or collide right into him.
And his expression right now…yeah you wouldn't want to collide into that.
Kiara tried to control her heartbeat, needing to think. Running would get her nowhere. He was too fast a sprinter compared to her. And now that there was a sexual tension between them, all thanks to her, the instigator, that wouldn't go away especially when his manhood continued to say hello. So there was only one thing left to do.
Talk him to death.
"Okay. So this is how this is going to work. I'm only going to say what I need to say once and you're going to listen. I am not going to repeat myself. Although, I am more than capable of doing so, it would just be really annoying to do so and it would also take up too much time that I don't have. So listen very carefully." She miraculously moved closer to him, but only to emphasis this point. It wasn't so that she could be near him once more at all.
"You're going to pretend you never met me and let me pass. Not because I'm going to issue you a threat and fulfill it with accurate precision—which is actually all Meg's agenda—but because I said so and you're going to follow what I say. Got it."
There was a stare off between them for several seconds, where the only movement visible was the compression and expansion of their lungs. The energy between them was filled with electricity and a tension that could spark a flame. A flame so massive in size and color just like those that continued to look at her with a raw intensity so fierce it threatened to engulf her alive.
She was certain then more than ever that he would not follow through with her command. But suddenly when he smirked—flashing those sharp, white teeth of his—and moved out of her way to let her pass, she was more than shocked.
She was downright fucking suspicious.
She looked at him, looked forward, then looked at him again, eyes narrowed to thin slits. Something was slightly different about him then. He was less…hostile, more relaxed. And his energy signature disappeared in an instant as if he did not exist.
Kiara never removed her eyes from his person, placing both her arms under her chest. His eyes never missed a beat, following her movements with executed precision. Although she felt an electric current spark within her to land at the base of her abdomen as a result, she chose to ignore it. So instead, she asked, "What the hell are you doing?"
A second or two later, Youko's gaze flickered to her own.
"Doing what it is you told me to do."
"Yeah, okay. And I'm actually a demon with an 11-inch dick and three balls attached to it."
Youko froze, his smirk gone now only to be replaced with a completely different expression entirely.
At first Kiara placed a hand over her mouth to stop herself, but she couldn't hold her laughter in any longer. She let it fill the forest around them while she held her stomach for support.
"Oh gosh," she laughed. "That sounded so horrible coming from my lips. It's so much better when Megumi says it. It's one of her lines." She informed him unawares, wiping away her tears. "Just try not to picture it."
Youko growled. "Already did."
Kiara laughed again. "Well then that ought to kill the sexual tension between us."
At her words, Youko's golden orbs flashed amber once more and now he gave her an eye fuck she would not believe.
"Not. Quite." He growled, low.
Kiara stopped laughing to watch amber red eyes gaze upon her with an intensity that made her wish her body was covered right now, which was impossible because she was in her element. In the forest. Naked. And free.
But of course Kiara pretended his look did nothing to her and positioned her hands on her curvaceous hips. "Will you stop being perverted?"
Eyeing her beginning from her legs to travel up to her breasts, Youko's eyes finally shifted up further to her own and he raised a brow.
"Says the female stark naked in the middle of the forest."
Kiara opened her mouth agape. "I'd be dressed if you and your partner in crime hadn't interrupted our bath!"
And at that thought, Kiara dropped her arms by her sides, now on the offensive.
"What the hell do you want with me anyway? What do you want with the both of us, huh?"
Tightening her fist, Kiara moved slightly, but in a position to strike if need be. He wasn't going to take her anywhere without a fight.
"Did Damious send you to capture us?"
Every bit of playful calm nestled within Youko died just then. And Kiara felt the change more than anything else.
Kiara smirked, shaking her head. "I should have known." …And of all the things, I kissed him! The demon out to send me straight to my death. Great job, Kiara…
Highly annoyed and slightly disappointed in herself—correction highly disappointed in herself—Kiara took a few slow steps back, wanting to increase the distance between them.
Youko growled in disapproval, the sound absolutely menacing. His eyes began to flash bright red once more, his entire being radiating unbelievable power.
"Who is Damious?" Youko inquired, taking steps to close the distance between them.
For every slow step forward Kiara took a slow step back, focused on his movements and the rising anger that she once again felt more than saw written all over his gorgeous face.
Smirking to mask her nervousness, Kiara replied, "Now, now. Lying to one another should not be a thing between us at this state in our relationship." She mocked, giggling playfully. "But even if I believed you did not know who he was, I'm not that stupid enough to tell you contrary to what others—aka you demons—might think? So if you will excuse me—" Her back hit the rough bark of an oak tree just then, a momentary lapse in her ploy to escape. But then she froze, her muscles rigid of their own accord as a feeling of dread ran from her heart to her stomach like a cold, sharp blade.
She looked up and met with the most feral pair of eyes she had ever seen. Caging her between the bark and his chest, Youko stood only a few centimeters from her body, the fury in him a living, breathing thing. All she could do was breathe, the sound silent though it left her chest with such a rush. In and out.
In and out her chest moved, her naked—still hard—nipples brushing against his tunic. She couldn't help it and moaned then shivered, closing her eyes momentarily as she let the pleasure pass over her. After this she stilled when she felt it, a finger suddenly raised to her face.
Kiara opened her eyes and met with those wild ones blazing like the morning sun surrounded by the darkness of the night. It was absolutely unnerving, but also absolutely beautiful all at the same time.
Bending down, he began to stroke her cheek, his affection so foreign it began to scare her more than soothe. But she made sure to mask her fear and just continued to stare at him.
Finally, he stopped and caged her in once more, her heart rate at an unbelievable rate.
Then he spoke.
"You're not going anywhere." Youko inserted, finally getting his beast somewhat under his control.
Kiara frowned then opened her mouth to reply, but the next second she felt something slither around her naked frame. She looked down and saw vines—thick vines—wrap around her pinning her to the tree. They grew up her legs to her torso then held down her arms stopping right above her breasts.
Upon instinct, Kiara struggled for release. Though the lush, green vines were thorn-less, they were still firm, rough even and started to break her skin.
"Stop." He barked at her, never taking his eyes off her. She ignored him and his command, desperately fighting for her freedom.
Youko growled his words this time around. "Listen to me! Struggling will only make it worse—"
"Then release me!" She screamed, her anger vivid as the sun. "Remove the vines!"
"Not until you calm down and give me what I want."
Kiara scoffed at him then laughed sarcastically. "You got some bloody nerve." She started, glaring up at him. "You have me tied to this tree like a fucking prize to be had and then you expect me to not only CALM DOWN BUT GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT!"
Unfazed by her outburst, he answered her. "Yes."
"You…are….OUT OF YOU'RE FUCKING MIND!" She bellowed. Then continued to struggle some more. Until Youko actually roared, the sound so vicious—savage—that it instilled fear in her now rapidly beating heart.
Kiara stopped, blue sapphires open wide while Youko moved in, the two of them now face to face.
"Again says the woman who decides to parade through one of the deadliest forests bare naked and weak—"
"Take it back." She muttered, angry puffs of air leaving her lungs as she glared daggers straight at him.
There was a moment of silence between them, the sound of her breaths and the tension between them the only thing present. And then he responded. "No. You are weak."
"Take it back!" Silence greeted them again, before Kiara continued. "You know nothing about me—"
"You have a sister named Megumi, correct?" He started, Kiara's mouth open ajar as she looked at him. "And a man who wishes to capture you both."
He moved in even closer, practically closing the gap between them. Another inch forward and he'd devour her once more. "Who is Damious?"
"He does not concern you," Kiara replied, in an angered, but soft spoken voice.
"You…..will….give me the information THAT I WANT!" Youko growled in her face.
"Over my dead—" A sudden deadly energy source pulsed through Kiara veins and she stilled frozen, her eyes wide as saucers.
Kiara's blood went cold and the honey brown glow of her skin was drained from her face. She looked in the direction of the sudden burst of ominous power, a million and one emotions flashing across those cerulean blue eyes.
Without looking at him she mumbled weakly, "Release me."
"What exactly do you intend to accomplish in your condition?" Youko inquired, glaring down at her.
Finally she turned her head.
"None of your business. Now release me." She said through clenched teeth, glaring right back at him, meeting his stare full on.
"You're depleted of energy and weak. You'll die within seconds if you go near—"
"I don't need you to tell me what I already know!" She started. "I'm not the priority here! I need to get to Megumi, now! So you will release these vines right now ! I don't have time for this! SO LET ME GO!" She screamed, puffing out air rapidly due to her anger.
Youko and Kiara continued to glare each other down for what seemed an eternity. It wasn't until Youko suddenly came in close with his breath fanning her neck, that Kiara eyed his person in slight confusion. She instantly shivered from the unexpected air upon her and her heartbeat began to race when his lips replaced his breath. His tongue soon slipped out, raising goosebumps all over her soft skin and Kiara let out a trembling breathe.
Licking her dry lips, Kiara began, "W-what…What are you—"
And then he bit her.
Kiara screamed at the sudden onslaught of pain. She started to move against the vines in an effort to get away from him, but her effort was fruitless the instant he pulled, drawing her blood.
Youko began to suck greedily. He took in her rich nectar and practically groaned in pleasure as her sweet scent of vanilla strawberries invaded his senses. And although he drew from her for the sole purpose of keeping a tab on her, he couldn't resist the temptation that was her blood and continued to draw until he no longer heard her scream, but whimper with little energy.
Taking one last draw, Youko retracted his fangs, licking the trail of blood that escaped down her neck. He licked over the puncture wounds next, healing them and the ache he knew she felt with his saliva. Then he released the vines, but pressed his body to hers so that she would not fall.
The moment Kiara caught her breath, she pushed him away with the all the strength she could muster, craving distance. But Youko hardly budged. What little space she did get however, she welcomed with open arms.
Using the bark of the tree for support, Kiara clamped a hand against her already healed wound and yelled, "What…the….hell is wrong with you?!...Whydid you…..." Her eyes were open wide. "You drank my blood!"
Ignoring her, Youko suddenly ripped the top of his white tunic, his chiseled chest now exposed for all to see.
Kiara's gaze drifted to his chest and lingered without her consent.
It wasn't until he moved that her eyes shot up to his face. She opened her mouth to rip him a new one, when he pulled her to him and began to circle his hands around her with his tunic.
He was dressing her.
And Kiara was speechless.
When he finally got the tunic to fit against her like a dress, he looked at her silky brown-blue locks and reached behind her head to run his fingers in it. He would have groaned out loud if he hadn't restrained himself. Wanting to do this since the moment he saw her, Youko pulled her hair from the tunic and let it run down her back like an endless waterfall, her hair somewhat dry. His moment of pleasure died within seconds when she suddenly pulled back, away from him.
Kiara looked down at herself, inspecting his work before catching his gaze that never seemed to leave her face.
"Why—" she started, finally able to speak again.
"Where you planning to parade around this forest without any clothes!?" He barked, his anger rising when he sensed a group of male cougars at the source of the massive energy source and when he realized that they could possibly catch her bare naked.
Her hands in tight fists, Kiara exclaimed, "Need I remind you that it was you who interrupted my bath?! How was I to put on clothes when I was trying to escape from you, huh?!"
"And what an escape that was." He uttered. "You're weakness—"
Suddenly, Youko was pushed back several yards by a blast of energy that targeted his chest. He looked down and minor welts started to form, looking aggravated and red. He looked up at Kiara, his face stunned.
Kiara lowered her hands that were extended in front her to her sides, breathing heavily. She glared at him and said, "I told you I am not weak, damn you! Just leave me the hell alone and never show your face to me again! Go find another plaything to play with because you can't have me nor do you own me even though I know you think you do. I can see it in your eyes. Well news flash.…Nobody owns me. I own myself. Remember that."
With that, Kiara took off, sprinting in the direction of the auras filled with massive energy. Youko growled deep then snarled so loud in a fit of anger that the trees around him quaked. The beast inside him roared its displeasure, wanting what was rightfully his. Rightfully theirs.
Youko took off after her, pinning her location through the weak, but present blood link between them that she was unaware about. At her current state, she would die and he wasn't having any of that.
"Damn female." Youko growled, sprinting his way over to her. He wasn't about to let this female die. He wasn't finished with her yet.
