Summary: A collection of short one-shots based almost solely upon requests. Multiple characters, pairings, and alternate universes.
AN: So this is a series of short fics that I like to write at work when I'm bored out of my skull. They'll contain multiple characters, multiple pairings, and in fact you're more than welcome to make a request yourself. Whether it's in a PM, a review, or an ask on tumblr (sword-and-stars), I really don't mind! I'll post them as I write them.
Frigid
Sodia doesn't know what to do with Yuri. He knows exactly what to do with her.
"So what, are you going to take revenge? Come after me? Hurt me?"
Sodia had pictured a thousand times how this conversation might go and this had happened in exactly none of them. Yuri hadn't shouted, hadn't hit her, hadn't even moved. Anyone else and she might have offered him a hit in.
With Yuri Lowell, she knew better.
This Yuri Lowell might forgo the hit and just kill her instead.
"Oh," Yuri said coldly, his eyes expressionless and steely and very, very hard, "I'd never hurt you." Sodia shuddered and had the sinking feeling that he was going to continue, hidden away from the others in a dark alcove of a dark city on a dark night.
She was right.
"No, I'd never hurt you. It's just that if you ever happened to be drowning, I probably wouldn't hear you screaming for help, even if I was five feet away. I'd watch you slip under and sleep perfectly fine at night. If I saw you being pursued by monsters or a rogue guild….well, you're a strong knight. You can probably handle it."
Sodia stiffened her back to pretend like she wasn't shaking.
"Y-you wouldn't," she said and even she knew that it was a question and not a statement. Even she knew. "You wouldn't do that to Flynn."
"I wouldn't be doing anything to Flynn." Yuri stared her down without blinking. "Keep your voice down, Estelle might hear you." The ice in his tone thawed a little when he mentioned the imperial princess and his eyes flicked back towards the inn where the others all slept with the window open. Except for Raven and probably Judith; those two were ridiculous night owls.
"So…"
And suddenly Yuri had taken a step forward and was no more than two inches away. At his sides, his fists clenched like he'd rather wrap them around her throat. Sodia rather wished that he would.
"I don't think you understand me," Yuri said evenly, so evenly he sounded almost dead, "You took something irreplaceable from me. You took something irreplaceable from my frien-my family. So I'll do what I have to do to stop this thing and save the world we've got left and if I have to work with you, so be it. I said I wouldn't hurt you. I never said I would help."
That was all he had to say to her, apparently, and as Sodia watched his back retreat she found herself on the ground. It was cold.
Yuri Lowell had brought a snowless winter with him and she'd never been so afraid.
AN2: Thank you for reading! It's been a while and I apologize; I've been having a hard time of it and can only write certain things right now. If you liked this and would like to leave feedback, it would be much appreciated.
