The ceremony went to be a somewhat short one. Longer than last time but still very short. The creators of Smash had quickly introduced the universes represented as Assist Trophies and told all of them what their job was to do. With that every pledged to do well and that was the end. By the end of it a party was announced in the name of the Assist Trophies in the Special Home. The Special Home was a place where special events take place, in this case a party.

Jeff wasn't exactly the party person. When he had this party years ago he didn't really talk to anybody. Ness wasn't there since it was an 'All Assist' party and he didn't want to go and dance. He did however, spend some time with Lyn as a way to get to know each other.

Right now he was sitting all alone in the corner of the room. He didn't really want to talk to anybody here, he wasn't so sure what would happen if he did. It wasn't like he hated anybody here (except maybe Waluigi for that one time but hate is a strong word) but he wasn't comfortable with going up to a stranger and striking up a conversation. Lyn knew this more than anybody so she wanted to stay beside him, that way he didn't feel completely alone. Jeff had insisted she'd go and have fun, he didn't want to drag her down.

Jeff had watched the party go by absentmindedly. He had nothing much to do, seeing as he was prohibited from bring in his tools for fixing up weapons and there wasn't anything else that looked fun to him. He looked to the dance floor where he saw Lyn talk to Dr. Kawashima and Elec Man, she seemed to be having a good time talking to the newcomers. Typical for someone like Lyn.

He then looked over to the snack table. He saw... something get a plate and putting some cookies on it. This person had dog ears, he wasn't familiar with this must be a newcomer. His eyes then shifted to the floor, only to notice lots of red juice has been spilled along with a few crushed plastic cups. Wait... the dog eared person seemed to be walking into the direction of the juice, he had to stop it! Quickly he got up and ran to it. The figure had shown a profile of it's face, it's a girl. She had continued to walked and pick up various snacks until she got to the punch. Then she slipped.

Before she fell to the ground however, Jeff had managed to grab her from behind, preventing her fall.

"Are you okay?" Jeff asked.

She nodded and then got up by herself.

"Thank you," she said. "I'm sorry! I'm so clumsy!"

"N-no it's okay! T-the floor was slippery is all... Anybody would have slipped on it..." Jeff said.

"Um... Oh! My name is Isabelle! Nice to meet you!" she said.

"I'm Jeff, nice to meet you Isabelle."

"Oh um is this your first time in Smash? It's my first time being here so I don't really know anybody," Isabelle said.

"Oh, actually this is my second time being in Smash. I've been here for last year's tournament," he said.

"Really!? Wow! Can you tell me about what happened?" she asked, her tail wagging. "You see, the Mayor had only just joined this tournament so I came along with him! I talk to him but I need to make more friends," Isabelle said.

"Well Ness has been in Smash since the beginning so I came when Assist Trophies first came out," Jeff said. "So wait, if you don't know anybody then what about roommates?"

"Uh let's see... Waluigi, Ghirahim, and Dark Samus," Isabelle said.

That's why.

"Oh both Ghirahim and Dark Samus are actually newcomer Assist Trophies. Waluigi has been here last tournament though I don't know what to say about him or the others. You should be careful of them," Jeff said.

"Oh okay! Thank you!" Isabelle said. "So wait, what universe do you represent?"

"I represent EarthBound, along with Ness. EarthBound isn't exactly a popular mainstream game but it is a cult classic. What about you?"

"Oh I'm the Mayor's Secretary from Animal Crossing!"

"You mean the game where you try to make a town better by having town projects and such?"

"Yes that's it!"

"Oh I've heard of it before, your mayor is the Villager right?"

"Yes that's him!"

"Oh, I heard from Ness that the two have become really good friends. They would fish and play baseball together with everybody else."

"Oh that's wonderful! I knew the Mayor would make friends! He's the type of person who can make friends with anybody!"

"That's sounds so much like Ness."

"Ness is like that too?"

"Yeah, he was the one who convinced me that I was worth something. He and Paula," Jeff said.

"Oh! Tell me the story!"

"You're holding a plate of food though and this might take awhile. We should sit down."

"Okay!"

...

"Wow that party was lame! Barely anybody interesting except for that cutie Takamaru," Phosphora said as she took off her shoes and stepped inside.

"Riki have lots of fun! Riki dance lots and lots and eat lots and lots! Riki full!" Riki said as he ran to the couch and flopped on it.

"It was really fun," Lyn said as she took off her shoes and stretched. "So Jeff, did you talk to anybody at the party?"

Lyn had looked down to see Jeff's face. It was completely red and his body looked completely rigid. Lyn had place a hand on his shoulder and shook him gently, he barely moved.

"Jeff are you sick?" Lyn asked. "If you're coming down with a fever then I have the perfect solution. I remember a tea some of the elders of Sacae used to make. Okay so we'll need some -"

Jeff had gently touched Lyn's hand, which caught her attention. He looked up to her, his eyes saying something to her but she couldn't tell what exactly.

"Lyn... can I talk to you?" Jeff asked.

She nodded.

"In private."

She nodded again. This must be serious.

"Of course, we may talk in my room," she said.

Lyn and Jeff then walked over to her room, leaving both Riki and Phosphora in the living room to do whatever.

"Hmm... Wonder what that kiddo thinks he's doing," Phosphora said. "Aren't you curious Riki?"

Riki looked up from his place on the couch.

"Me curious. What Jeffie and Lyn-Lyn talk about?"

"Well the only way to find out is to listen right?" Phosphora said. "Hmm... I would get up but that party was pretty tiring. Why don't you go listen in for me? Please?"

"But eavesdropping bad?" Riki asked.

"Well... Oh!" Phosphora noticed that Jeff had just left her room. He had said some things to Lyn, one of those things being 'Thanks for listening' and 'I've never felt this way before' words that had caught Phosphora by surprise. "How strange..."

"What is Pho-Pho?"

"Pho-Pho? Aren't those noodles? Riki are you hungry again?"

"Oh no! Riki thought he full! Riki want noodles now!" Riki whined. "Not to fear Heropon will wait until tomorrow!"

"Heh heh, why not just get something to eat? I mean, this is our new home. Oh speaking of which... Lyn!" Phosphora called.

With that, Lyn had opened the door to her room and peered out. She noticed Phosphora laying lazily on the couch with her head on the armrest.

"Yes?" Lyn said.

"Where's our rooms at?"

Lyn then stepped out of her room.

"Oh thank you for reminding me! The party had made me almost forget! Please forgive me," she said. "There are two rooms here, one next to mine and one next to Jeff's. Feel free to pick whichever room you like, there should be a bed ready made for you there. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me."

"Oh! Where bathroom?" Riki asked.

"It's the door all the way at the end of the corridor," Lyn said.

"Thank you!" Riki said.

"Thanks," Phosphora said. "That's all."

Lyn had nodded, taking it as her cue to go back into her room. Phosphora had looked to Riki who was currently rolling on the couch.

"So where will you sleep?" Phosphora asked.

"Um... Riki don't know." Riki said. "Riki like Lyn Lyn though, Lyn Lyn very nice."

"I'm kind of curious about Jeff. A young human child got into this tournament? He doesn't even look like he has special abilities either, unlike Lyn or anybody else for that matter. I'm sort of interested."

"You sleep near Jeffie?" Riki asked.

"Indeed I shall," she said, a smirk on her face.

...

The very next day was the beginning of assisting. It was a very exciting day for everybody, even Lyn felt some chill in being able to help again. Of course, they had to eat and regain their strength before even thinking of being in combat. After freshening up, Jeff had gone to the kitchen. It was going to be a very exciting day and he could tell Lyn was happy, she was making too much food.

He looked to all the food Lyn had currently made; pancakes, waffles, sausages, hash browns, lots of egg variants and even blueberry muffins! She was still cooking eggs, this time it being sunny side up eggs. Wait, where was the french toast? Oh! This is a perfect time to be helpful to her! He needed to show her how grateful he is for everything she does.

"Lyn, can I make the toast?" Jeff asked. Lyn had looked behind her to face Jeff. She had flipped the egg without looking.

"No, don't worry Jeff. I'm pretty energetic today so I can do it," Lyn said.

"No I insist! I mean... you do so much work. I can help do something too..."

"Oh. Hehe, alright. Do you know what to do?" she asked.

"Yes don't worry," Jeff said, already getting bread from the cabinet. "All I have to do is toast it in the toaster then cover it in the sugar powder right?"

"Right and don't forget to bring out the butter knife and the cream cheese. Strawberry jam too," Lyn said. "Also, if you don't mind could you take the syrup and put it on the table?"

"Of course Lyn."

Jeff had done exactly as he was told. He had put bread in the toaster and while he waited for it to be done he had grabbed the syrup, strawberry jam, and cream cheese and set it on the table. He noticed that Lyn had taken her time to set the plates and utensils. He couldn't help but be impressed as usual.

He heard the ding from the toaster and removed the toast, placing it on a plate and dusting it with sugary powder. He had then placed another two slices in the toaster. By the time he was done with that however, Riki and Phosphora had already walked in.

"Food!" Riki said as he dashed for a seat on the table.

"Geez, have some manners will you?" Phosphora said, taking a seat. "Looks like Lyn and Jeff here worked especially hard to make this."

"Oh no no. Lyn made most of it, I'm only doing the toast," Jeff said.

"Don't eat just yet. I'm almost done with the eggs here and when Jeff finishes the bread then you can eat," Lyn said.

"After this we're going to have to meet at the main building right?" Phosphora asked.

"Yes, since this is you're first time here I'll be happy to show you two around Smash Residential," Lyn said.

"And what about Jeff?" Phosphora asked. "Shouldn't he help too?"

"Ah well... Jeff... has other plans," Lyn said.

Jeff couldn't help but blush at that statement. Yes, he had other plans and he couldn't wait to get to them. Oh he had to look his very best today, do his very best today. He never felt this way before, he had only seen such feelings portrayed on television (which he never watched much of) or in novels (but he doesn't read many romance novels). He felt his heart thump slowly due to the reminder. The toaster had dinged and he went to go pick the toast up. In his haste though, he burnt his finger.

"Are you alright?" Lyn asked, quickly walking over to Jeff.

"Y-yes alright... Just... burned my finger by accident," Jeff said. "S-sorry..."

"It's alright. Just be more careful next time, alright?" Lyn said. "You should put some of my special ointment on it, it helps minors burns like this. You don't want it to turn into a blister."

"A-alright. T-thank you Lyn," Jeff said. He then left the kitchen.

Phosphora's mouth was left agape. It couldn't be... Not possible... Really!? Could that puny human boy actually be in love with Lyn!?

AN: Man I just want to rush to the next chapter of this because things get interesting. I don't think I portrayed Phosphora right because all I know of her is what's said on the Divinipedia (I'm not far enough in the Uprising playthrough). I am currently playing Xenoblade and have finished FE: 7 and EarthBound which is why I chose Jeff, Lyn, and Riki. I picked Phosphora because she would be the most interesting choice.

Also sorry about the intense amount of dialogue, I'll try not to do it again.

Next time on Smash Residential, Jeff does what he plans but will Phosphora ruin his day by accident? Also, a new friend!?
