Hallo everyone! I'm back with another chapter! Hope you all are enjoying this story so far! Just wanted to thank KittenLover962 and broccolishadow66 for favoriting and following this story and to Forbidden Void for reviewing! Your support is really awesome! Okay, enough chit chat, onto the chapter!
I ran through the hallways, lights flickering on and off. A figure quietly sprinted next to me, his aluminum gloves reflecting off light. We stopped at the end of the wall and peeked around the corner. The front office was a mess. Papers were everywhere, the windows were shattered, and blood shimmered off the wall. Principal Victoria and Mr. Mackey were huddled in the corner, terrified as Mr. Adler was slumped against the wall. There were four men, all dressed in black, guns in their hands. One was forcing the microphone to the counselor's mouth.
"Get all the kids to go to the multipurpose room, now!" he commanded, pressing the muzzle of his gun to Mr. Mackey's inflated head. The advocate shakily grasped the microphone, turning it on. His voice rang throughout the school.
"Uh, all students and teachers report to the multipurpose room right now, m'kay? The shelter-in-place is over, everything is m'kay. That's all *sniffle* students, m'kay?" he whispered. The masked man tore the device away from the counselor.
"Good. Tobias, Mitch, stay here with the hostages. Gabriel, call up the mayor and ask for a million dollar ransom. I'll go round up the brats," the man ordered. Dougie stared at me, motioning his head towards the office. I raised my hand, telling him to wait. I observed the men take their positions, and what looked like the main man head over to the multipurpose room. We had about two minutes to do this right.
"Three. Two. One," I whispered. I released another smoke bomb, causing an uproar from the masked men. I turned on my taser and headed into the obscured battlefield.
"Hey! What the hell is this!"
"This is bullshit! I'm bailing!"
I weaved gracefully through the fog, not being able to see just a small annoyance. I came up behind one of the men and swept him with his feet. He fell onto his face as I lunged on him, releasing all the energy of the taser onto his neck. The smoke started to thin out. I got a clear view of the remaining men. Dougie was beating one to a pulp, the other fumbled around the room completely disoriented.
"Disarray! You take care of the rest! I'm gonna go to the multipurpose room!" I yelled out, leaving before I could receive an answer. My heart pounded, threatening to break out of its cage. My feet pounded against the linoleum floor as I raced to the multipurpose room. I could hear the gruff yelling of the masked man from inside.
"Now, you brats will not say anything! You will not do anything! You will not even move until I say so! If you go against my words,"he warned, setting off a shot into the air,"I won't be hesitant." I crept around the open door and peeked in. I saw my class, terrified. Ruby looked as if she were about to cry. Her brother in the sixth grade class not too far, looked pissed off, along with all the previous members of Mr. Garrison's fourth grade class. I ran across the entrance, heading for the air vents. The man looked behind quickly at the sudden noise, reloading his gun. "Don't think anyone's gonna save you and succeed," he glared at the exit.
I sneaked alongside the wall, finding the loose air vent I planned to enter from. I pulled away the metal grating, setting it quietly on the floor. I entered the air vents, following the metal pipeline until it changed into a 90 degree turn upwards. I placed a hand on either side of the vent and started pushing myself up, my feet helping as well. I crawled like a spider up the duct, finally reaching the second level. On my hands and knees, I silently shuffled through the narrow passage, eyeing the metal grating at the end of it. I looked through the lines, observing the actions of the criminal closely.
"What the fuck is taking those twits so long out there," he muttered to himself, pacing back and forth impatiently. I slowly tried to pry open the gate, being successful until- I could feel the metal slip out of my sweaty fingers, falling to the ground. I stared at it in horror, flinching at the crash that interrupted the silence.
"Ha! I got you!" A bang erupted as a hole was pierced the vent a few centimeters away from me. Crap! Crap, crap, crap- Bangs came one after one as I clambered through the vent. A bullet sliced through my sweater, scraping the skin. I hissed in pain as I tried to fall down the 90 degree shaft safely. I landed onto ground floor and got out of the pipe quickly. The bangs continued as I ran through the corridors. As I passed the hallway that lead to the cafeteria, I finally faced the man.
His eyes were wild, mask half-off, revealing disheveled dark brown hair. He smiled maniacally, like a predator that after a long day of hunting, finally caught his prey. He rose his gun, aiming for my head. I was frozen to the spot, every second feeling like a year as we stood in stale mate for who knows how long. A bang was heard. I cringed and closed my eyes, expecting for the worst.
A minute passed.
I opened my eyes once no pain was detected anywhere. I saw Dougie standing across from me, holding one of the assailant's guns shakily in his hands. He looked terrified at the man lying on the floor in the middle. Blood spilled from his immobile body. The nerd dropped the gun and crumpled to the floor. I ran up to him, kicking the gun away from the man on the floor, just in case. The "general" was sobbing into his knees as sirens rang out from outside.
"I killed him. I killed him. I'm gonna be sent to jail. My whole life... ruined. I don't know what I was thinking!" he cried out, arms hugging his knees. I patted him softly on the back.
"Hey, hey, Doug. It's gonna be alright. You saved my life back there, plus the lives of everyone in this whole building! You're a hero!" I tried to reassure the shaken boy. We sat on the floor in silence as the authority invaded the school, taking care of the bleeding man on the ground and asking if everyone was alright. Ruby ran out of the multi-purpose room, her brother soon after. She stared at Dougie and me, tears in her eyes. She beamed at us and fell down next to us. Craig stood next to us in silence, not sure how to approach. Parents soon came after the police, thankful to whatever deity they believed in that their child was safe and okay. Craig and Ruby left with their mother, Dougie with Butters and his parents.
Kevin came rushing into the building, terrified at the scene! "Karen! Karen! Oh God, what if she didn't make it!" he yelled out to no one in particular. I hailed him and smiled when I saw the relief that filled his face. He ran over and hugged the breath out of me. "Oh thank God! I thought you were- oh my God. I could've lost you, I could've been alone." My brother broke down to tears as his grasp threatened to never let go. His arm rubbed over the scrape I got from the raging bullet. I hissed in pain. The teen pulled away quickly, his fear immediately rejuvenated.
He pulled my sleeves up, revealing the small cut. "It's nothing really, Kevin. Nothing a little bandaid can't fix!" I assured him. He still looked unsure but decided against arguing with me. We left the school and walked home in silence together, classes being cancelled for the rest of the week. As we walked through the frost ridden sidewalks, a figure watched us from the bushes.
"Tango, tango. Victim has been spotted. I repeat, victim has been spotted. Release the lions. Trigger, out."
So my first ever action scene! Like it or meh? Hope you enjoyed this chapter! The real plot is finally unraveling ^^! Please R & R if you liked it or if you have any advice! Til' next chapter!
