On a roll here! Decided to watch the whole series again so I guess it's inspiring me! :D

Chapter 5

"I'm assuming that name means something to you?" The policeman looked at their shocked faces.

"I feel sick..." Rory mumbled and rushed out of the room.

"Um...yeh..." Lorelai replied. "He's my ex. He's the dad of my daughter." She said quietly.

The policeman nodded. "Do you know where we could find him?"

Lorelai shook her head. "Sorry I haven't really had much to do with him. He moves around a lot." She said still stunned by the news.

"I'll let you have some time to digest this. I can see it's been a real shock but we will keep you updated and let you know what happens next." The policeman said and then left.

"You ok?" Luke asked Lorelai softly.

"Um...I don't know. I mean, was he aiming for you? It can't be a coincidence..." She said quietly.

"I don't know." Luke admitted. "I can't really remember much about it."

"I'm so sorry Luke." Lorelai said kissing his forehead.

"Hey it's not your fault. Why don't you go and check that Rory's ok?" He said gently.

Lorelai nodded.

Rory had rushed to the toilets and was sick in the toilet. She felt so sick. Her own dad. How could he do something like this? Was it an accident? Did he mean to hit Luke?

Lorelai entered the toilets. "Hon are you in here?" She said.

Rory came out one of the cubicles. "Yeh...mom was it really dad?"

"It looks like it was. I'm so sorry sweetheart." Lorelai said hugging her.

"I'm going to kill him! I mean it! I hate him so much!" Rory said suddenly getting angry. She ran from the room and back to Luke's room, closely followed by Lorelai.

Luke looked up. "Rory..."

"I'm going to kill him!" She said picking up her coat.

"Hon, calm down. We don't know where he is. The police are looking for him." Lorelai said softly.

"Is this all my fault?" Rory suddenly said, with tears welling up in her eyes.

"What? No of course not!" Lorelai said.

"Well would he have done this if I hadn't been so horrible to him just after your wedding? Does he hate me that much that he wants to get rid of the one person I'm closest to apart from you?" Rory started to cry. She dropped her coat and sat down.

"Hey, look at me." Luke said softly, reaching a hand out to her. Rory looked up with her tear-stained face. "None of this is your fault. Don't you even think this."

"But..." Rory started to say.

"No buts. Rory, I don't want you blaming yourself. I certainly don't. The only thing you've done is stand up for me and I'm so touched by that. Now look at me." He said softly. Rory looked at him again.

"You don't blame yourself ok?" He said softly.

Rory nodded slowly. "Are you really feeling ok? You're going to be ok?" She said quietly.

Luke smiled. "You can't get rid of me that easily."

Rory smiled back. "Thanks for the photos by the way. I didn't get a chance to say before. I love them." She said.

"You're welcome." Luke smiled.

Lorelai just sat there smiling.

The next day, the police came back.

"We haven't managed to find Christopher yet but I can assure you we're doing everything we can to make sure we do." The policeman said.

"Will my dad go to prison?" Rory asked quietly.

"Most likely. We will need Luke's statement and yours and your mum's. I assume you want to take this further?" The policeman said looking back at Luke. Rory just looked at the floor.

"Yes." Lorelai said.

"No." Luke then said.

"What?" Lorelai said shocked, looking at Luke. Rory also looked up, shocked. "He tried to kill you."

"We don't know that for sure. It could have been an accident." He then glanced over at Rory. "Besides, I can't do that to Rory. I don't want to be the man who sends her dad to prison." He said quietly.

Rory was shocked. "Luke, you don't have to do this for me. He deserves to rot in jail." She said quietly.

"My mind's made up." Luke said softly. "I don't want to press charges." He said to the policeman.
