Chapter 8

A few weeks had passed and things were getting back to normal. Chris hadn't been in touch which had relaxed them a lot. Rory entered the diner. "Hey Luke!" She smiled walking up to the counter.

"Hey Rory! Where's your mum?" He asked.

"Charming!" Rory smirked.

"No I didn't mean that, I..um..." Luke stammered.

Rory laughed. "She's arguing with Taylor about something. She should be in soon."

"So I should get her coffee and burger ready?" Luke smiled knowing Lorelai so well.

"I think she would appreciate that. Oooh and I will have a burger too!" Rory grinned.

"Coming right up!" Luke said.

Lorelai came in a few minutes later. "Urghhh..." She groaned as she sat down next to Rory.

"Hey mom! Luke's doing food." Rory said. "What were you arguing about with Taylor?"

"Just stuff. He's just been very annoying lately." She said.

"Good reason." Rory teased.

"Here are your burgers." Luke said coming back and placing burgers infront of them and then leaning over and kissing Lorelai.

Lorelai took a bite but then made a face.

"You ok?" Luke asked concerned.

"Yeh just not feeling like this burger anymore. I'll take it for later. I'll see you later at home." She said and then left.

"What's up with her?" Luke asked.

"Beats me!" Rory said.

That evening, Rory was over at Lane's. Luke arrived back to the house only to be met by Lorelai. "Umm...you know how I've sort of been in a mood recently and not eating much..." She started, grinning.

Luke looked at her suspiciously. "Yes I have noticed."

"Well, it's about time this family gets some good news." She grinned.

"I'm not following." Luke said confused.

"I'm pregnant..." Lorelai said.

"What?" Luke said shocked.

"I had suspicions as I was late but I only brought a pregnancy test today and I did it about an hour ago. I couldn't believe it." Lorelai said.

"Wow..." Luke said sitting down.

"This is what you want isn't it?" She asked suddenly worried.

Luke looked up at her worried face and suddenly smiled. He gestured her to sit next to him and he kissed her. "Of course it is. It's amazing news!" Luke smiled.

Lorelai grinned too. "We're going to have another Rory." She said slightly teary.

"So we are." Luke smiled. "Talking of Rory..." He then said, hearing the door open and Rory come in.

"Mom?" She called. She went into the living room and saw them both smiling back at her.

"Ok, your smiling's freaking me out..." Rory teased.

"There's something we need to tell you." Lorelai said not sure how Rory was going to take it.

"Yeh? What's up?" Rory asked.

"I...um...you're going to be...um..I..." Lorelai just couldn't get it out and could feel tears forming.

"Your mom's pregnant. You're going to be a big sister." Luke finished for her.

Without hesitation, Rory squealed. "Oh my god, that's amazing news!" She exclaimed and hugged them both. "Congratulations!"

They both smiled. "You're ok with it?" Lorelai asked softly.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I be? The kid's going to be one lucky kid having you two as it's parents." Rory smiled.

They both smiled again. "Thanks hon." Lorelai said and hugged her daughter tightly.

"You do know this means no coffee for nine months!" Rory smirked.

"Yeh yeh missy don't gloat!" Lorelai said.

Luke chuckled.

"Anyway, I've booked a doctor's appointment for tomorrow to check everything's ok." She said, looking at Luke. "Can you get off for a bit tomorrow?"

"I can make it work, don't worry." Luke said.

They all had a lovely evening just chatting and watching films. They finally felt back to normal and really excited about the future.
