Part Two

Link was a senior officer for more than one reason. His fighting ability was unwavering and so strong that he could tango with Demise and live to tell the tale; even if he had to be brought back to camp on a stretcher. A master of stealth and when his garb had a bit of muck on it; could hardly be seen in the undergrowth.

He charged almost silently up the hill, the wind telling him where he needed to go. He could hear it speaking to him, directing him in the way of danger till he could hear arguing voices.

"Milord, you have paid attention to the child while unborn, diligently in fact. What do you intend to do with him?" spoke a female voice, the tone serious and rich with acid. Link dropped to the floor and crawled on all fours around the bushes, his ears flat against his face, hiding underneath his blond white hair.

"Nothing you need concern yourself with." grunted another, Link froze for a good moment, Demise was in reaching distance. If only he could get a decent shot at driving his sword through his heart then he would be able to end the war but no shot had ever arisen.

"I concern myself because I'm his mother." snarled the female voice; followed by what he thought was the sound of a blade drawn, he looked up from his place in the bushes.

Demise, the Evil King was threatening the woman, what was that in her arms? Where was the child he'd mentioned from a thought?

"You act like one of those light dwellers sometimes; it makes me sick to see one of my best generals act this way to her commander. New mother or not, when I ask you a question; you answer, when I give you an answer, you don't pry." Demise growled throwing the woman down to the ground, the blankets began to cry out. The child…was a new born baby.

"I am not like one of those pathetic light dwellers!" Elera shouted, the wind making the bushes rustle.

iSitting right here./i Link thought to himself as the wind carried over his back and hiding place. He was a little torn, even though that right in front of him were two demons that needed to be rid of the world, there was a new born baby involved in that. He had known the force of right and wrong on his back, being placed in prison for a crime he did not commit. Knowing that; the baby needed to be away from this.

Elera tied the baby on her back and stood firm, drawing a small black blade, no bigger than her forearm, Demise drew his own great sword, one that would take two hands to carry yet he only held it in one.

"You dare fight me?" Demise asked pointing the blade at Elera so her head tilted back.

"King or not, you offend my name." Elera spat "I am not like those animalistic spawn you call an army."

They clashed blades, Elera's arm shaking under the weight of Demise's sword alone. Link crossed his legs and looked through the bushes. Now what? She was defending herself against the commander in chief, would she offer her services if he helped her or would she kill him? He had to take that baby away from the fight, away from Demise. He could see how gentle Demise was being whenever the sword would come near the child; that creature was not kind to anyone who was not useful to him.

It fuelled him.

He carefully withdrew a small flare from his pouch that would go off on a timer, Scrapper, the commander for the robot race had given him a set of red ones to show that he was in need for reinforcements, blue if he needed aid and green for victory. Time to release a red one.

He struck the flare and stabbed it into the ground and darted away so not to give his position. The flare shot out through the trees high into the sky and exploded with a loud bang in the dark sky. Demise and Elera turned their heads in dismay, the Hylian forces? Where?

Demise broke from the battle and raised his sword Skyward, lighting his blade with powerful red light that was the colour of magma and shot it towards the bushes, lighting them on fire till they were nothing but sticks and black leaves.

Elera saw movement in the trees and avoiding a slash from Demise as she passed him; she pounced to the bushes; Link rolled to the side as her blade came down to stab him.

"Light Dweller!" she shouted pointing her dagger but then covered her mouth. Link opened his own to the point where it would almost hit the ground.

"You!" they both snapped.

"General of the evil army!" Link roared drawing his sword "Elera!"

"Officer of the Hylian sector!" Elera seethed

"So it's you who I saw!" Link grunted jumping up to block her first attack to the point where their bodies were side by side

"Another prophetic dream?!" Elera growled pushing him out of the bushes so that he rolled onto his back in Demise's range. Demise merely smiled and watched his minion pounce through the undergrowth and land on top of the warrior

"Elera! Your baby!" Link shouted pushing against her blade "Demise wants to use it for his gain!"

Elera stopped applying force and turned on Demise, he slashed a few times at her, quickly dodging his attacks and slashed across his head pushing him closer to the trees. Link took the chance and clambered up the nearest to spring on Demise's back, digging his sword into his shoulder blades. Demise roared in pain allowing Elera to jump as high as her legs would let her to slash the commander across his forehead. Demise snarled and seized Link's collar as well as Elera's neck, squeezing it tightly.

"I have no use for a backstabbing general." he thundered squeezing on her wind pipe so that her face quickly turned blue, Link was thrown into a tree and winded for a few moments, Demise's gaze locked onto him, ignoring Elera's cries and gasps for air "You pathetic little light dweller."

"Long time no see, Demise." Link snorted coughing a little to try and get his breath back, Demise pulled the sword from his back and marvelled at his black blood that dripped from it before throwing it towards Link, striking him in the chest with the point. Link screamed in agony before his head flopped down; his chest crimson.

Demise dropped his blue general on her side so that the baby was hardly untouched by the fall and scooped him up in one hand.

"Ghirahim. You will now be the soul of my sword, it is what you were born for." he muttered stabbing his sword into the ground and holding his hand over the baby's bare body.

Link opened his eyes and stared forward, reaching into his pouch slowly for some Deku nuts, King of Evil or not, they still created a blinding flash.

With the other hand, he carefully pulled the blade out of his chest and let it drop on the dark grass, as well as removing a piece of wood from under his tunic with the remains of a pocket of blood. He had faked his own death so many times that it became a life line to carry these.

He couldn't let him have that baby. He couldn't let him have the soul of his sword.

He threw the seeds in Demise's direction so that they flashed around his feet, making everything white for a few moments. Link seized Elera's body in one hand and the baby in the other and carried them away from the eating flames of the trees and the monster they had struggled against.

Demise shook his head and attempted to grab what had taken the baby from his grasp but couldn't see them and by then; they were out of sight. He roared so loud that everyone in the vicinity dropped down on their stomachs as if a blade had swept over their heads. Leaves cascaded down the branches and the earth quaked.

Link slid down a dried river bank bed and ran across the dust to a shelter hidden in a dug out cave, he took off his red cape and wrapped the screaming child up in it, trying to console the frightened life with a hand while trying to get the mother to breathe again.

"Come on!" he begged pressing both hands onto her chest but the damage Demise had done has sealed her fate. She was gone. There was nothing that he could do.

He sat back and placed her hands over her chest so that they were cupped and turned his head to the baby. What was he going to do now? In the spur of the moment, he had not thought about what to do with the child after taking him.

Link picked him up off the floor and held him in his crossed legs trying to keep him warm in his bright red cape.

"Well, I don't know about you, but I think you'll agree that I just saved your life there." he commented leaning an elbow on his knee. "Why would he need a soul in his sword?"

His sword…

He had left it in Demise's reach!

He was glad it was a basic Hylian sword, nothing to major. He had seen it in his dreams, a purple edged blade, something that a woman of white would bestow on them. The child's crying brought him back from his thoughts, no doubt, what was his name? Ghirahim? Would be hungry. Where could he find milk here?

He would have to take the child back to camp and ask one of the merchants for milk, he would gladly give some of his ration of milk to feed the child, he despised the stuff. Link gazed at the demon's slender body for a few moments, she went against Demise, did this mean she was a rogue? Or did Demise just push her buttons? Anyone who stood up against that monster, demon or not was a good soul and deserved a proper burial.

Link made his choice of action and scooped up the baby in his arm, wrapping his cape over his shoulders and creating a little sling so that if something happened while he made his way back to the camp, he had one and a half hands for fighting things off.

A sector of the Hylian army doused the fire as it got near the base; the robot nation of the desert had flown through and over the trees carrying huge cauldrons of water. Link kept silent, the ash and fog the fire had caused giving him cover from being spotted, but Ghirahim's crying made it so that he could still be detected. The demon's body was getting heavy on his shoulder but he continued to march forward, his brain finally slowing down to process what had happened today.

"There! In the fog!" shouted a man in a white, now brown uniform "It's the senior!"
Link had not really thought he was that close, he remembered sending the flare but he didn't think that they would catch up this quick with the fire in their way. Regardless he welcomed the company.

"You found a baby?" asked one of the men, stabbing a spear into the ground

"His mother fought against Demise, therefor she is one of us." Link replied flatly and with a commanding tone "This means he is too."

"Sir, that demon has fought against us for the past three years. One good deed doesn't wipe that slate clean."

"Standing up to evil itself to protect your child, no matter what side, means that they have thought and care. Sentience." Link sighed "She could think and feel and knew that Demise planned to harm her child so refused him."

"Have you gone mad?!" exclaimed another man holding a crossbow

"As long as we have this boy; Demise can never reach full power." Link smirked knowing that would capture their interest "How is that for a reason?"

Anyway, this chapter? Elera and Link have history fighting together, they know each other, Elera knew about Demise needing her baby for something, but Link acted as a second opinion. Now the Hylian forces have the upper hand with keeping Ghirahim.
I've also noticed I haven't been that descriptive, I'll have to sort that next part. Also, thanks for the reviews, I love them!
