Chapter 16

A few months have passed and Lorelai, Luke, Rory and Beth were happy. They hadn't heard from Emily or Christopher and Lorelai and Luke were finally enjoying being a married couple.

They were sat watching tv when they heard the front door. "Hey mom!" Rory called.

"Rory? Were we expecting you?" Lorelai said.

"No I wanted to surprise you. I just thought since it's Valentine's day, you and Luke would like to do something. I'll look after Beth." Rory smiled.

"Aw hon, that's sweet but we're honestly ok having a night in. Aren't you doing anything with Logan?"

"He's away with his dad. We're doing something another time. Please go out. You two haven't really had time to do stuff because of everything that's happened." Rory begged.

Lorelai grinned at Luke. "Want to be all lovey dovey at a restaurant?"

"Oh geez.." Luke groaned. "Thanks Rory!"

Rory laughed. "No problemo! Don't be too hands on though mom. Don't think Luke could handle that!" She teased.

"Alright cheeky! I'm going to go get changed." Lorelai smiled and rushed upstairs.

Rory smiled watching her, glad she'd made her mom happy.

"You really don't have to do this." Luke said to her.

"Honestly, I want to." Rory smiled.

"Well thanks." Luke smiled. "I better go changed too then otherwise your mom will!" He said.

Rory laughed. "Wise choice!"

About an hour later, Luke and Lorelai left and went to a restaurant nearby. They were sat at a table in the corner with candles. "This is nice." Lorelai smiled.

"Yes it is." Luke smiled.

"We haven't done this for ages..."

"Yep..."

Lorelai smiled at Luke. "I really do love you. I know I haven't said it much recently but everything you've done for me and Rory and what with everything that has happened..." She said.

"I know." Luke interrupted.

"Thanks Luke..."

"I love you too." Luke smiled.

They ordered some food and had a lovely time. They headed home together in a good mood. They let themselves in.

"Yo daughter of mine!" Lorelai called.

"Which one?" Rory grinned appearing.

"You! Everything been ok?"

"Yep! Beth's asleep now. It's been nice to spend some time with her. Lane came over for a bit as well." Rory smiled.

"Aw that's nice." Lorelai smiled.

"Have a nice time?" Rory asked.

"Yeh it was really nice. Thanks for babysitting." Luke said.

"No problem! Love quality time with my baby sis." Rory smiled.

"Well I think we're going to hit the hay." Lorelai said heading up with Luke.

"Ok. Oh I nearly forgot. Parents' day at Yale is next week! Can you two come?" Rory asked.

"Both of us?" Luke asked.

"Yeh!" Rory smiled.

"Yeh I can get Michel and Sookie to look after the inn for one day." Lorelai smiled.

"Um...yeh same here...I mean get Caesar and Lane to man the diner..." Luke said.

"Great!" Rory grinned. "Night!" She said and went to bed.

Luke smiled to himself and then followed Lorelai upstairs.

"Do you think we might actually meet her mystery boyfriend now?" Lorelai grinned at Luke.

"Keep walking!" Luke smirked.

The next day, Rory had to get back to Yale. "Morning!" She said as she came out of her room.

"Morning hon!" Lorelai smiled.

"Morning." Luke smiled. "Coffee?"

"Do you even have to ask?" Rory grinned.

Luke put some coffee infront of her.

After she had breakfast and packed, she knew she had to leave. She kissed Beth goodbye. "Bye baby sis." She whispered.

She then hugged Luke. "Bye Luke. See you next week."

"Bye Rory. Drive safe. Oh and here's a food package." Luke said handing her a bag.

"Thanks Luke!" Rory smiled. "Bye mom!" She then hugged her mom.

"Bye kid! See you at Yale!" She smiled.

Sort of another filler episode. Just wanted to have a nice chapter with not much drama but a sweet family one. :) Hope you like! :)
