Chapter 29

It was a few months later and everything was well in the Gilmore-Danes household. After the fire, it took a while for everyone to get back into their routine but they did eventually. Rory had started texting Dean again. They had had no trouble from Emily. That was until Lorelai got a phone call in the diner.

"Out!" Luke said pointing at the door.

"But I'm your wife!"

"Out!"

"But..."

"Out!"

"Urghh fineee!" Lorelai sighed and went outside. She smiled at the caller ID.

"Hey hon!"

"I've been kidnapped!" Rory said urgently.

"What?" Lorelai exclaimed.

"Grandma rang and said that grandpa had gone over and wasn't feeling well. It was only when I got there that I realised it was a stupid trap! I've been locked in the pool house until I see sense apparently!" Rory exclaimed.

"Seen sense?"

"About you and Luke? Apparently grandma wants me to see Luke for the controller he is and how he doesn't care about anything apart from making her angry!"

Lorelai felt her anger rising. "She said this?"

"Yes! Mom please come! She's crazy!" Rory said. She then heard her grandma coming. "I have to go. Just please come and help me!" She begged and hung up.

"Rory!" Grandma smiled unlocking the door and coming in. "Here's food for you."

"I'm not hungry. I need to go back to school." Rory said coldly.

"Not until you see sense about that preposterous man." Emily said.

"I have classes Grandma. Or don't you care about Yale anymore?" Rory said.

"Of course I care but we need to sort this situation out."

"What situation? There's no stupid situation!"

"Rory do not talk to me like that!" Emily said sternly.

"I'll talk to you how I like. Let me go!"

"I'm going to leave the food here." She said.

"I said I'm not hungry."

"So you're going to starve?"

"Yes."

"Fine. I'll come by later when you've calmed down."

"Urghhh!" Rory said to herself and sat down with her head in her hands, exasperated.

Meanwhile, Lorelai went back into the diner. "That stupid, idiotic, selfish, crazy..." She muttered angrily to herself as she went up to the counter.

"What's up?" Luke asked concerned.

"That was Rory. Apparently she's been locked in the pool house until she sees sense. I'm going to kill my mom!" Lorelai fumed.

"What?" Luke said incredulously. "I thought she had moved on. We haven't heard from her in like three months!" He said.

"Well apparently she hasn't and she doesn't care that Rory has Yale. She's keeping her there until she sees sense." Lorelai said angrily.

"Sees sense?"

"About me and you." Lorelai sighed.

"Oh..." Luke said.

"I need to go to the house. She wants me to go help her." Lorelai said.

"Do you want me to drive you?"

Lorelai sighed. "It's fine but it's probably best you don't otherwise she might not let us in. But thanks Luke."

Luke nodded. "Just call if you need me."

Lorelai nodded and drove to her mom's house. She rang the doorbell.

"Lorelai!" Emily smiled.

Lorelai ignored her and burst in through the house. "Let Rory go mom. She has classes to go to." She reached the pool house.

"Unlock it mom." Lorelai said angrily.

"Only if you agree to talk about this." She said.

"Fine!" Lorelai lied.

Emily smiled triumphantly and unlocked the pool house and they went in.

"Mom!" Rory said seeing her and ran to her.

"Hey hon. Come on we're leaving." She said.

"You said you'd talk about the situation." Emily said.

"Well I lied." Lorelai said.

"Fine in that case." Emily went out and locked them both in.

"Mom! Open the door now!" Lorelai shouted.

"Not until you calm down. Bye Lorelai." Emily said and went back into the house.

"Mom what are we going to do? I need to get back to Yale!" Rory said.

Lorelai sighed. "Why is my mom the craziest woman ever? She always hates who I'm with. Why can't she just mind her own business. She never got this low though. To kidnap my daughter!" She sighed and sat down.

"Mom, I'm don't listen to anything she says. You know I love you and Luke..." Rory said sitting next to her.

"Luke! Of course!" Lorelai said getting out her phone and putting it on speaker.

"Luke's?" He answered.

"Help!" Lorelai said. "She's got us both now!"

"What?"

"She cornered us both in the pool house!" Rory joined in.

"Rory! Are you ok?"

"Yeh just hungry! I've been refusing to eat." She said with a slight smile.

"I'll be right there. The pool house is round the side right?"

"Yeh!"

"Be there soon!"

After about twenty minutes, Luke suddenly appeared outside the pool house. "Luke!" Lorelai exclaimed.

He put his hand on his lips. "Shhh!"

"He broke in!" Rory smirked.

"Aw our knight in shining armour!" Lorelai smirked.

"Is there another way out of here?" He asked.

"No!"

Luke tried to fiddle with the lock but he had no luck.

"Hey try this!" Rory said taking a pin out of her head and sliding it under the door.

Luke did and after a few minutes managed to open the door.

"Our hero!" Lorelai joked.

"Our saviour!" Rory joined in. She gave him a quick hug.

"Why why this does look cosy." Emily said having come out.

"It's over mom. We're leaving." Lorelai said.

"How did you get in?" She glared at Luke.

"Round the side." He said.

"So you broke in?"

"No I walked in and came to get Lorelai and Rory." He said firmly.

"Fine. Take your wife or whatever you call her but Rory's staying here. I'm not letting her get manipulated by you."

"Seriously grandma? You can't make me stay here." Rory said angrily. "First you lie about grandpa being unwell which is sick and then you try and make me think bad of Luke when he's been the only father figure to me."

"Ok Rory calm down..." Lorelai said softly.

"But you've been visiting your dad. That must mean something!" Emily said.

"Yeh it means I'm talking to him because he's genuinely sorry. Don't speak for him anymore as he actually likes Luke now." Rory said.

"Nonsense!"

"No it's not! He told me! He said that he realised how much Luke had done for us. He doesn't want to break Luke and mom up but he does want a relationship with me. And that's what I'm trying to have. Now I need to go." She said angrily running past Emily.

"Wow Lorelai, you must be so proud." Emily fumed.

"Terribly." She said. "Come on Luke." She said.

Luke and Lorelai found Rory out the front, leaning against her car. "Sorry mom. I didn't mean to shout." Rory said.

"No it's fine. My mom deserved it. Are you ok?" She asked hugging her.

Rory sighed and nodded. "I better get back to school." She said. She then looked at Luke. "Thanks for saving us from the crazy house." She said.

"No problem." Luke said.

They all then left and went home.
