Last chapter until we start the third movie! Yayyyyyyy...

Sorry about this chapter, but enjoy.

"I did not look to see you so easily outwitted!" Thorin's powerful voice rang throughout the empty halls, bouncing off the walls of the floors. The rest of the company watched in a silent mix of shock and horror as one massive claw clambered out of the hole. "You have grown slow," Another claw appeared. "And fat," a snout rose from the depths. "On your dotage!" One glowing eye came into view and fixed itself on Thorin. "Slug." The growl of anger ripping forth from the dragon's throat sent chills through the air.

Thorin turned to the others, a huge grin on his face. "Take cover." No one moved. "Go!" And with that, the company dashed behind the pillars, just as jets of flame tore through the air. The heat nearly burned away all the air, leaving the company gasping for breath.

As soon as the dragon fire disappeared, the forges roared to life. At the same time, Smaug began throwing himself at the Iron Gate, the bars already beginning to buckle. Thorin ignored this, however, and began to shout out orders.

"Bombur! Get those bellows working! Emilie-" he hesitated only a moment. "Up there, on my mark, pull that lever." The hobbit dashed off quickly. "Balin, can you still make some flash-flame?"

"Aye. It'll only take a jiffy." Balin rushed off to the wings, Ori and Dori following closely behind him.

The gate was almost demolished by now. Dwalin whispered to no one in particular. "We don't have a jiffy."

And the Dragon had broken through. And the first thing he saw was Emi. The hobbit froze as Smaug slithered towards her. Then it stopped, turned, and saw Thorin. The chest beneath his scales began to glow.

"Now!" Thorin shouted, and Emi rushed to the lever, jumped, and pulled it down. There was the sliding of stone as the walls opened, water rushed out, crashing into Smaug. The glow disappeared. The dragon flapped. The fires burned blue. The conveyor belts started.

Something flew through the air, striking Smug on the side of the head and bursting with a brief flash of white light. Smaug snarled as a few more flashes exploded off the side of him. Gloin cut the rope, sending boxes of rocks down upon the dragon.

But all this merely made him angry.

Thorin rushed over to a chain and pulled it, valves of molten gold poured like rivers through groves.

"Lead him to the Gallery of the Kings!" Thorin instructed as they all began rushing out. Smaug thrashed about angrily, before finally narrowing on Emi. The hobbit scrabbled to her feet and started running.

"Keep going, Emilie! Run!" she could hear Thorin behind her. The dwarf who had almost killed her minutes ago. But it would be Smaug who killed her now if she didn't move. So she ran, scrambling out of the flaming hall into an empty, dark one. The wall crumbled behind her as a dragon smashed through it. Emi was lucky enough only to have a large tapestry fall on her, knocking her to the ground.

You think you could deceive me, Barrel-rider? Smaug boomed. Cautiously, Emi peaked out from underneath the huge cloth. You have come from Lake-town. There is- is some sort of scheme hatched between these filthy dwarves and those miserable tub-trading Lakemen! Those sniveling cowards with their long bows and black arrows! Emi's blood ran cold. Perhaps it's time I paid them a visit.

"No!" Emi called before she knew her own actions. "This has nothing to do with them! You cannot go to Lake-town!" Then she realized her mistake. Never show emotion to a dragon.

Smaug turned to the hobbit smugly. You care about them do you? Good. Then you can watch them die. Emi could only watch as the Dragon sauntered away.

Then, a voice doomed across the hall. "Here you witless worm!" It was Thorin.

You. Smaug snarled. Thorin stood confidently before him, eye level with the beast.

"I am taking back what you stole." Thorin declared. Smaug crawled slowly towards him.

You would take nothing from me, dwarf. I laid low your warriors of old. I instilled terror in the hearts of men. I am King Under the Mountain! The dragon and the dwarf stared each other down.

"This is not your kingdom." Thorin stated boldly. "These are dwarf lands. This is dwarf gold. And we will have our revenge!" The dwarf lord called out in dwarfish, and the company pulled chains. The structure Thorin stood on gave way to reveal a shining golden statue of a dwarf lord. For a split second, Smaug was mesmerized. Then the gold exploded, covering Smaug in molten gold. And for a moment, Smaug was buried under a smooth surface of gold. Then he erupted out, coughing and screaming through the air.

Revenge? Revenge! I will show you REVENGE!

Emi dashed after, watching the gold covered dragon spiral into the sky, freeing himself of the golden liquid.

The hobbit watched as the dragon disappeared into the night.

"What have we done?"
