Chapter 33

A couple of months had passed and it was the day of Christopher's release. Rory had found it to be a very hard decision but she eventually decided to go and meet him when he got released. She drove herself from Yale to the prison. When she got there, she got out of the car and waited. Soon enough, she saw her dad walking out.

She smiled shyly at him when he got to her. "Hi..."

"Hey, I didn't expect you to come. Does your mom and Luke know you're here?" He asked, giving her a quick hug.

Rory tensed. "Of course. I don't keep secrets from them."

"I know that. I didn't mean to offend you." He said.

Rory sighed. "It's just weird. What you did to Luke, and our family..."

"I know. It was so wrong. I'm just so relieved you've forgiven me."

"I don't think I will ever fully forgive you for what you did but I know how manipulative grandma can be and I do want a relationship with my dad. April and Beth get to know their biological dad..." Rory said quietly.

Christopher nodded but then he stopped as he looked at something behind Rory. Rory turned around and was shocked. "Grandma? What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to see your dad." She replied.

"You mean to manipulate him to ruin our lives again."

"You're so dramatic, just like your mother."

"Don't you dare bring up mom!" Rory said angrily.

"I see you've seen sense." Emily replied smugly, ignoring Rory's last comment.

"Yes I'm talking to my dad again but I haven't seen sense. I just want a relationship with him." Rory replied coldly.

"I knew that diner guy couldn't give you what you wanted. That poor sister of yours..."

"Luke is the best father anyone could ever ask for! My sister is lucky to have him as is April. And I'm lucky and extremely happy to have him as my step dad." Rory said angrily. "I can't take this anymore. I'm going!" She said walking back to her car.

"Rory wait!" Chris called.

Rory turned round to her dad. "Promise me, you didn't know she was coming. Swear on my life!" She said.

"I swear, Rory. I didn't know. She visited me once inside but that was just so I could tell her to butt out. I swear I didn't know she was coming today." He said sincerely.

Rory looked at her dad and nodded. She sighed. "Fancy some lunch?" She asked.

Chris smiled and nodded. Rory drove off and they stopped for lunch, close to Stars Hollow but not too close.

"So...how is your mom?" He asked cautiously.

"She's really good." Rory said. "She's happy."

He nodded. "I'm glad."

Rory raised an eyebrow at him.

"I'm serious! I'm glad she's happy. I swear I don't want to cause trouble.I had a lot of time to think in prison." He said.

Rory nodded. "Good."

"Luke really means a lot to you, doesn't he?" Chris said.

"He means everything. He makes mom really happy, he is the best father ever and even when him and mom have had arguments, he's always been there for me." Rory said.

"I guess I underestimated him..." He said sincerely.

"You did." Rory said. She then sighed. "Fresh start?" She said.

"I'd like that." Chris smiled.

They had their lunch and Rory enjoyed getting to know her dad again. She then said goodbye to him and then went back to the house to say hi to her family. She let herself in.

"Mom?"

"Rory?"

"Marco?" Rory joked.

"Polo?" Lorelai joked back. She came into view and hugged her daughter. "Hey! Were we expecting you?"

"No, but I've just been with dad so thought I'd come round..." Rory said looking at her shoes.

"Oh yeh...I forgot that was today. Everything ok?"

"Yeh except grandma turned up at the prison and took great joy in seeing me there." Rory said bitterly.

"I can imagine! What did he say?" Lorelai said.

"He swore he didn't know she was coming and I believe him. I honestly think he wants to make it up to me. We had a nice lunch." Rory said quietly.

"Well...I'm glad. It's about time he's there for you." Lorelai smiled.

"He won't bother you or Luke. I think he's actually warming to Luke..." Rory said with a slight smirk.

Lorelai chuckled.

Just then, Beth came crawling into view. Rory smiled and kissed her. "Hey sis!" She then looked around. "Luke at the diner?"

Lorelai nodded. "Yeh!"

"I might just pop round there. I'm craving some of his coffee. I won't be long!" Rory said and left.

She got to the diner and went in. She went up to the counter. "Hey Luke!" She smiled.

"Hey Rory! I wasn't expecting you today!" He smiled back at her, automatically getting her some coffee. He then looked at her with concern. "How was it today?"

Rory smiled to herself. Luke never forgot things. "Yeh it was ok. We went for lunch. It was nice." She said quietly.

"Good." Luke smiled.

Rory smiled to herself again. She couldn't believe how forgiving Luke was. "Hey Luke?" She said quietly. "Can I talk to you in private?" She asked.

"Sure!" Luke said guiding her upstairs. "Everything ok?"

"I just didn't know who to tell. I know mom would have freaked but...Logan asked me to move in with him..." Rory said.

"Oh wow!" Luke said shocked. "So I take it things are good between you then?"

Rory nodded. "I really do love him but I don't want to mess it up..."

"I don't really know what to say, Rory. It's your decision and I'm sure your mom would say the same thing..." Luke said.

Rory sighed. "I just had to tell someone..."

Didn't really know how to end this chapter! Let me know what you think! :)
