Chapter 34

A couple of months later and it was Christmas time. The Gilmore-Danes household were looking forward to a nice family Christmas together. Rory was bringing Logan to show him Stars Hollow having recently decided to move in with him. Everything was going smoothly. Luke was excited because April was coming for Christmas too.

Rory arrived back with Logan on Christmas Eve. "Mom! We're back!" She called.

"Nice house." Logan complimented.

"Why thank you!" Rory smiled.

They went to the living room and Lorelai appeared. "Hey kid!" She smiled hugging her. She then smiled at Logan. "Nice to see you again Logan."

"You too. You've got a beautiful house." Logan smiled.

"Thanks!" Lorelai smiled.

Beth came toddling in. Rory smiled. "Logan this is Beth." She smiled.

Logan smiled down at Beth and ruffled her hair. "Hello Beth!" Beth giggled.

Luke then arrived back with April from the airport. She came in. "Rory!" She grinned and hugged her.

"Hey April!" Rory smiled hugging her back. "How's New Mexico treating you?"

"Yeh it's ok. Not as bad as I thought!"

Rory chuckled. She then hugged Luke. "Hey Luke!"

"Hey Rory!" Luke smiled at her. He then looked at Logan. "Logan." He said shaking his hand.

"Good to see you again." Logan smiled.

"Oh yeh April, this is my boyfriend Logan. Logan this is April, Luke's daughter!" Rory smiled.

"Ah so this is the infamous daughter. Rory's told me a lot about you. Good to meet you."

"Good to meet you too." April said shyly.

"I hear you're thinking of coming to Yale when you're older." Logan smiled.

"Yeh! It sounds amazing!" April smiled.

"Oooh April, I brought back a few books from Yale that I thought you'd like." Rory smiled, taking some out of her bag.

April beamed and thanked her before going to sit down and looking at them. Everyone then did their own thing for a while.

Soon it was Christmas day. Luke was up early making coffee and breakfast. April was helping him as she was too excited to sleep in. She couldn't wait to spend Christmas with her dad. Lorelai appeared next with Beth and then Rory and Logan were last up. Everyone said Merry Christmas to each other.

At about 10, they all sat down to open presents.

"So how are we going to do this? Should we take it in turns?" Rory asked.

"Sounds good!" Lorelai grinned. "Me first! Me first!"

"God you're the biggest kid here, mom!" Rory laughed. "Here's mine to you." She said handing over a present.

Lorelai opened it and laughed. "Thanks kid! But I'm not that bad!" It was a cook book.

"You really are mom! We shouldn't have to rely on Luke for everything. Even I'm better than you!" Rory smirked.

Lorelai hugged her. She then handed a present to Luke. "Open it!" She beamed.

Luke chuckled and opened it. It was a cellphone. "You know I hate technology."

"Yeh but you will need this one day!" Lorelai grinned and kissed him.

April then opened some presents from different people. She got lots of science apparatus and books. She was ecstatic.

Luke then gave Rory a present. She opened it and gasped. It was a beautiful necklace. "Luke..."

"It was my mother's. I thought it would look good on you." He said.

"Thank you. It's beautiful!" Rory smiled and hugged Luke.

Lorelai smiled at them. "Right are we about done?" She asked after a few more presents were opened.

"I've just got one for Rory." Logan spoke up and gave Rory a little present.

She smiled and opened it. It was a little velvety box. She opened it and there was a ring in it. She gasped. "Logan..."

Logan smiled and got down on one knee. Rory looked around at everyone and realised her mom and Luke were smiling. They must have known.

"Rory, you are the one person who truly got me to stop and think about what I was doing with my life. You are the first girl that I called my girlfriend. I love you so much and I never ever want to lose you again. Would you do me the utmost honour of becoming my wife? Will you marry me?" He said.

Rory was totally shocked. She had not seen this coming at all. She looked at the ring and then at Logan. She felt tears well up in her eyes. She nodded slowly.

"Is that a yes?" Logan said.

"Yes!" Rory beamed and Logan put the ring on her. She kissed him. "I love you so much Logan."

"Right back at you Ace!" Logan smiled.

Rory then hugged her mom. "I'm getting married!" She exclaimed.

"I know!" Lorelai smiled, genuinely pleased for her daughter.

"You knew didn't you?" Rory said.

"Logan asked for my permission a couple of weeks ago." She admitted.

"Wow I can't believe you kept it a secret!"

"Well not really! I had to tell someone so I told Luke." She smirked.

Rory laughed and hugged Luke too.

"Congratulations!" He smiled. "Both of you." He said glancing up at Logan.

"Thanks!" Rory beamed.

The rest of the day was magical. Everyone was on a high and it was a lovely family Christmas. No arguments, no disruptions, just family time. Rory looked around her at her dysfunctional family and smiled. It wasn't the most traditional family and it had been very complicated at times but she was so happy to call them her family. She loved them all so much.

She went out on the porch and sat down on the chair. Logan soon joined her. "Hey." He smiled.

"Hey!" Rory smiled and leant her head on his shoulder. "I love you so much."

"Me too. Thank you for making me the happiest guy ever." Logan smiled and kissed the top of her head.

"Right back at you." Rory smiled snuggling into Logan.

Inside, Lorelai was in the same position with Luke.

"She's getting married. My kid's getting married..." She said quietly.

"I know. She seems very happy." Luke smiled.

"Yeh she does. I know they've had their problems but honestly, I can see how much they love each other. It's so obvious."

"I have to agree. Although, if he..." Luke started.

"If he hurts her again, you're going to kill him. Yeh you said." Lorelai chuckled. "Love you Luke."

"Love you too crazy lady." He smiled.
