Korra's POV

I blinked watching everything spin around me. Something had happened. I had been there. But I couldn't remember. Where was I? I stumbled across the street, feeling something slither down the side of my face, and a metallic odor infiltrate my senses. I looked down, seeing blood all over my hands, finding myself in my white tank also stained red. Was that my blood? What happened to my shirt? I wasn't bleeding from... I looked at my forearm, looking at the bubbling, bleeding burn. Was that where the blood was coming from?

Someone stepped in front of me, their mouth was moving but I couldn't hear anything. She looked familiar... I felt everything spin and fell forward. The woman caught me, kneeling down on the floor, my head in her lap as her mouth continued to move. She looked down at me, shaking me when I tried to closed my eyes.

Iroh's POV

I cursed as I tried to get eyes on the explosion site. I had been distracted for one second and this was the result. The Chief wanted an update but I asked her to wait when I saw a suspicious man near Hotch's car. I rewound the scene, watching as a long haired man placed a package in the black SUV and I immediately called Korra. She ran towards our supervisor but then the explosion happened and I couldn't see what transpired. Finally one of the cameras came back up and I sighed in relief when I saw the youngest team member with Hotch. There were people running, some injured on the ground but something was wrong with Korra. A woman approached her, sitting on the floor with her and I knew both agents needed help.

"What the hell happened?" the Director growled, storming inside my office.

"A bomb went off."

"No shit!" she snapped. "Who did it? Why?"

"Lin?" my wife called from the door. "You'll want to see this."

I took out my phone, watching the surveillance feed on there as I followed the women to the conference room. My jaw clenched when I spotted the man responsible for the bombing, immediately recognizing the terrorist group. The Red Lotus. For over a decade they had been causing havoc throughout the nations and now Republic City had become their next target. They were claiming responsibility for the day's events, saying how there was more to come. I had to get Mako and Korra out of there.

"Asami, I'm going to need you to be my eyes," I began as I grabbed my gun and bulletproof vest.

"Iroh, what's going on?"

I sighed. "The car they blew up...it was Hotch's," I revealed.

Her eyes widened and she immediately focused her attention on the screen. "How the hell did that happen? Is she okay?" Her tone was outraged but at the same time it was shaky. She didn't ask about Hotch, her focus immediately zeroing in on her childhood friend. I made no comment.

"I don't know. But I'm going to go and find out."

I was out the door and into my car in a moment. I managed to get a few blocks away from the explosion site before I had to park and run the rest of the way. The street was already barricaded and I cursed under my breath. They weren't going to let me in easily. When I had been in the military I'd quickly figured out how the Red Lotus worked. The first bomb knocked back the first round of civilians, but the responders were the actual targets. All the nations had been informed of this which is why I knew my team members were not going to get any help anytime soon.

"Who's in charge here?" I asked an officer. He gestured to a man on the phone. "You're in charge here?"

A nod. "Name is Captain Romo."

"I'm Iroh Lynch, I'm a federal agent," I answered, showing him my badge. "I need to retrieve Agent Hotchner and Agent Morgan."

He didn't even spare me a glance. "Go back to the Federal Building and let us do our jobs."

My jaw clenched and I stepped in front of him. "I'm not going to do that."

The Captain's eyes narrowed. "Get out of my face or I'll have you removed, Agent."

"My boss and team member are over there. Their car is the one that blew up. I was watching them, there's no danger."

"I have orders."

"I don't give a damn what your orders are," I snapped. "I helped write your procedure book, now let me through!"

"I'm former military, Agent," the Captain replied.

"So am I!" I took a deep breath trying to calm down. "If you're former military then you understand: never leave a man behind."

He met my gaze head on before he sighed and nodded his head. "Go."

I quickly ran through the barricade until I reached Korra who was still in the woman's arms. My head tilted when I recognized her. Raava. I knelt down next to them, checking the youngest agent's pulse.

"She's been in and out of consciousness," Raava whispered.

I nodded my head, looking around. "Where's Hotch?" I asked.

"He's over there."

I quickly went over, kneeling down next to him as I placed my ear against his chest, listening for a heartbeat. I sighed in relief, noticing a crumbled and bloody shirt wrapped around his right shoulder. I picked him up, slinging him over my shoulder before walking over to the blonde and brunette. She helped Korra stand, wrapping her arm around her neck and securing her own around Korra's waist as she followed me.

Asami's POV

I was trying to stay calm. Korra and Mako had almost been blown to bits by a terrorist group. I'd done research on them, finding out they were some sort of anarchists that enjoyed the chaos they created. They had messed with the wrong agents this time. I rewound the video back to the black long haired man, who could only be Ghazan. I hacked into all the surrounding buildings' cameras following him until he met up with another member, who looked to be Ming-Hua. They ran over to an ambulance, seemingly talking to the driver. What where they doing?

After a moment the ambulance drove off and they stayed there. I refreshed the feed, finding them still in the same location. I called Lin and told her what was going on and she took Rossi to confront the two isolated members, leaving Howl and I. My phone rang and I picked it up.

"Asami?" Senna greeted when I answered. "I heard about the bombing. Is everything okay? They're saying two agents were injured."

"They're alive," I replied. "Um, they were taken to the hospital."

A pause. "It's Korra, isn't it. She's one of the injured agents."

"She's fine," I tried reassuring though I still didn't know for sure. "Korra was walking when Iroh rescued her and Hotch. She's okay."

"I want to see her."

"The best thing you can do now is stay at home. I'll keep you updated, but she's fine."

After a reluctant confirmation I hung up and sighed as I rubbed my temples. I hated lying to Senna but I couldn't tell her the truth. I couldn't tell her that I had no idea how her daughter was doing and it killed me. The Southern Tribe detective sat next to me and I let out an irritated sigh. What the hell did he want?

"Can I see the footage?" he asked. I nodded my head and replayed the video, hearing him hum thoughtfully. "They met the ambulance and then stayed behind." I nodded. "But why?"

"Maybe they have another bomb waiting for Bei Fong and Rossi," I answered. "They're taking precautions if that's the case."

Howl shook his head. "The entire area is blocked, there wouldn't be casualties. That's what they want. We're missing something." A pause. "Can you find out where the ambulance went?"

I quickly hacked into other cameras, following the ambulance which seemed to have met up with another one before going to the barricade. I frowned. Since when did ambulances come in teams? I watched as Iroh put Hotch in one and Korra was placed in the other before driving to Republic City Main Hospital, the best one in the city. That's when it hit me. That was the target! The hospital was the target which meant...

"You need to get Korra an Hotch out of there," I told him. "The Hospital is their target. Go!"

Howl quickly stood and I called my husband. They had to stop them. They just had to. For now I was chained to this desk. I hated it.

Korra's POV

I kept trying to fight the nurses that were trying to out all sorts of needles in me. I was fine. Sure, my years were bleeding and I had a couple of burns and scrapes but other than that I was fine. I kept trying to tell them this, allowing them to bandage me up before struggling against them. I did not need an IV or any other medical stuff. I just wanted to know how Hotch was doing. Raava kept trying to calm me down but I wasn't listening. Why did these people not understand that I was perfectly okay?

"How's Agent Hotchner?" I asked for maybe the twentieth time.

"He is being treated," the nurse answered with a glare as I continued to fidget.

"Korra, hold still. They're trying to help-"

"I'm fine!"

"You have acute acoustic trauma in your ears, burns and a concussion, Agent Morgan," the other nurse stated. "You are not fine."

I growled in frustration when Howl walked into my room. He tossed me my travel bag and I raised a brow before taking out a shirt and pulling it over my head followed by the bulletproof vest. My former partner spoke to the nurses who kept shaking their heads. Finally one of them nodded and came over to me, plugging my ears with cotton balls and asking me to try and not be around too many loud noises. I asked Raava to check on Hotch and she reluctantly did as she was told, leaving my former partner and I alone.

"What's going on?" I finally asked

"This hospital is the Red Lotus' target," Howl revealed. "President Raiko was admitted for a sprained ankle two days ago."

"So technically he's the target." He nodded. "But why blow us-" I let out an irritated sigh. Of course. "No one would deny two federal agents medical care even if the city was on lock down. We're simply pawns."

"We need to stop them."

I nodded. "Get Asami on the phone," I instructed and he did as he was told. "Tell her to remote access the cell phone grid we're in and jam all frequencies."

"She says she'll only be able to do it for a few minutes." A pause. "And to get your ass back to bed."

"And this is why I didn't call her myself," I replied as I followed him down the stairs. "I need her to track RCA 108. It's an ambulance number."

"What for?"

"Just do it."

He did as was told, putting his hand on my shoulder. "Whatever it is you're planning...you have five minutes to pull it off before this whole place blows up."

We were screwed. So screwed.

Howl's POV

After Korra let Iroh and I in on her plan, we'd moved into position. I had wanted her to go back to her hospital room but she wouldn't have it. Still as stubborn as ever. The nurses hasn't been too happy about me taking her out but I explained to them the severity of the situation and they allowed me to 'borrow' her for the time being. As soon as this mess was over, she'd be back in her hospital bed. Hopefully. Rossi had informed me that Ghazan and Ming-Hua had commited suicide by cop when they found themselves surrounded.

We managed to get to the lower level of the hospital, seeing the ambulance and asking Asami to block the cell phone reception as we moved into place. As soon as that was done I spotted a female, which Iroh identified as P'Li. Zaheer, the only one who remained unaccounted for, was the brains of the operation and probably the one holding the cell phone that would detonate the bomb. Shots were fired and I turned around to see the devil himself firing at us as he tried to get a signal. Korra covered her ears and I told her to run towards the ambulance as we covered her.

Moments later the engine roared to life and Korra was speeding out of the hospital as fast as she could. I asked Iroh to take Zaheer since he clearly didn't know how to shoot a gun to save his life while I focused my attention on P'Li. I got a good shot and I fired twice, effectively bringing her down. Zaheer's jaw clenched as he watched his remaining partner fall and he ran to barricade himself behind a car. I looked down at my watch as we approached. Two minutes left.

"F.B.I.!" I shouted as we approached. "Drop the phone and the gun!"

The man chuckled, shaking his head. "You think you've won?" he asked. "There are more Red Lotus members than you are aware of. This isn't over. There will be chaos in Republic City tonight."

"Drop it, you son of a bitch."

Zaheer smiled and looked down a the phone, making the call before bringing the gun to the base of his chin and firing. Iroh looked away and I took the phone. The call had gone through.

Korra's POV

I let out a string of curses as I tried to hot wire the ambulance. One of the many times I had spent over at Asami's place when I was younger, I had seen her hot-wire her own car when she'd forget where her keys were. I'd watched her do it a handful of times and though I, myself, had never done it I hoped my photographic memory would come in handy.

I sighed when the engine started and I quickly sped away before calling Asami. Howl and Iroh had stayed behind to keep the two remaining terrorists out of my way while I found somewhere to dump the ambulance filled with Spirits knew how many explosives. I checked the time and tried to remain calm when I saw I had four minutes to drive this thing as far away as I could and to make it out alive.

"Clear my way, Asami," I instructed her as I put her on speaker. "And find me a place where I can dump this thing."

"There's an old air strip field about three minutes from your location."

I cursed and stepped on it. I needed to get there ASAP before Zaheer managed to blow the ambulance up and me with it.

"Why does it always have to be you?" she asked. I sighed. I had to admit I found myself in these situations more than I liked. "Why do you always have to do this?"

I didn't reply, instead asked her for directions to the field. I knew she was irritated, upset, and worried that I was doing this but there wasn't time for me to try and get through to her. There were hundreds of people counting on this plan. I couldn't let them get hurt, knowing I could do something to help.

"Signal is going back up," Asami informed me as I saw the gate to the clearing. "It's thirty seconds to full coverage. Just get out of the damn ambulance already."

"'Sami, there's something I want to say to you," I began as I rammed through the metal fence.

"Save it and get out."

"Not quite there yet."

"Korra! Now!"

I jumped out of the ambulance, rolling as soon as I hit the dirt before curling myself into a ball and covering my ears as the bomb went off. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to block out as much as the sound as I could. When the worst of it seemed to be over I opened my eyes, watching as the ambulance was nothing more than smoldering metal parts and flames. I sighed in relief, turning to lie on my back before noticing my name being called. I sighed and took the phone out of my pocket.

"Asami? Don't underestimate me," I told her between pants. "That's what I wanted to tell you."

Silence. "I'm sending Iroh to pick you up."

I smiled when I heard the click. Yep. She was pissed.

Asami's POV

To say I was pissed was putting things lightly. I was beyond infuriated with Korra's stupidity and self-sacrificing. When the bomb had gone off in Hotch's car I'd nearly lost it. Iroh managed to get a camera view on them both and it seemed like they were just knocked back by the explosion. Later we would find out that both had busted eardrums and Mako had a few burns and cuts, having shielded my best friend from the blast. However, as soon as he was stable she had returned to the investigation and ended up driving the ambulance with an even bigger bomb out of the city. Luckily, she had walked out of that one too, unscathed, but that did not make up for her recklessness.

I walked in to find her in a hospital gown, a nurse checking her ears and I could see a few scrapes on her face and arms...and I snapped.

"You irresponsible, inconceivable idiot! Are you trying to get yourself killed! Spirits, Korra!"

"Ow! Stop yelling, I have a busted eardrum,"she said, cringing at the loudness of my voice.

"Do you know how worried I was?" I continued. "You survived one bombing and willingly exposed yourself to another one! What were you thinking?!"

Korra whimpered, covering her ears as she curled herself into a ball. "Miss, Agent Morgan already received a scolding from us," the nurse began sternly. "But her hearing is extremely sensitive right now. So either you stop or I will be forced to escort you out."

I sighed irritably, crossing my arms. Once she made sure I wouldn't yell again she left us alone and I watched Korra cringe, her hand reaching up to one of her ears where blood was slithering down the side of her face. I sighed and grabbed a napkin, gently wiping the blood away before sitting down on the bed.

"I'm sorry," she said quietly after a moment. "I know you worry but...a lot more people could have died. I could have lost Mako."

It was always her. She was always the one that ended up in the dangerous situation and I couldn't stand it. It shouldn't have to be her.

"'Sami?"

"You almost..." I paused, shaking my head. Why did she have to do this? It was almost as if she put herself in harms way on purpose. "Spirits Korra...I can't go through that again... Please don't make me relive that nightmare... I can't...I'm not strong enough..."

"You know that wasn't my intention."

"I know," I answered.

She gave me a smile before she sat up. "Do you know how Mako's doing?"

"He's stable," I informed her. "But he still hasn't woken up."

"I need to see him."

I placed a hand on her shoulder, forcing her to lie down again. She tried fighting my hold until I spoke, "You get up, and I'll start yelling."

Korra winced at that and grudgingly laid back down. It was only a few moments before her eyes shut and her breathing evened out. I smiled, lifting the sheet to cover her up. I sighed. This idiot was going to drive me to an early grave.

Mako's POV

I blinked a few times as I looked around the room. Where was I? The last thing I remembered was Korra... I tried to sit up too quickly and let out a groan as I leaned back against the pillow. Where was Korra? Was she okay? I looked around the room before looking towards the door, watching as people in scrubs passed by. Hospital. I was in a hospital.

I hissed as I tried to sit up a little and quickly figured that getting up wasn't an option. Where was my girlfriend? I let out an irritated sigh. I had to find her. I had to make sure she was okay. I looked towards the door, smirking when I spotted her in a hospital gown, an IV connected to her arm. She smiled at me and came to the bed as I scooted over, allowing her to law down as I tried to cover her up. Korra nuzzled her head against my shoulder, wrapping her arm around my neck.

"I was worried about you," she whispered.

I smiled and pressed a kiss on her forehead. "Are you okay?"

She nodded. "Busted ear drums. I think you have that too."

I chuckled at that and wrapped an arm around her waist, repeatedly giving her temple a kiss. Korra smiled at that, closing her eyes and I knew she had to be tired. I was too. But I was happy to know she was safe. A nurse came in not too long after, glaring at my girlfriend but I told her she was fine, to just leave her here and she did. Looked like Korra had managed to push their buttons. I must have dozed off because when I woke up she was awake, drawing patterns on my chest. I rubbed her arm soothingly and she kissed my jaw.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked.

"About you," she admitted easily.

I hummed in response. "What about me?"

Korra sighed at that. "It's not only you it's...everything. Unalaq is gone and we were happy but then this happened." She looked up at me. "I don't ever want to be scared like that again."

"Korra..."

"For years, I lived in fear. Fear that Unalaq might break me, that he would take the last bit of sanity and virtue I had, that I'd never be normal," she began quietly. "That was my life, being with someone wasn't an option." My girlfriend smiled as she traced my jaw. "And now, I have you. I get to be like everybody else, I get to make my own decisions, live my own life, do whatever the damned hell I choose. "

I chuckled.

"You're the one I want to wake up and go to bed and do everything in between with. I get a choice now. I get to choose. I choose you, Mako Hotchner."

I couldn't help but grin and I captured her lips. When I pulled back we were both slightly out of breath but she kissed me once more and I eagerly returned the gesture.

"Marry me," I told her between kisses.

She blinked. "What?"

"You're the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. Marry me."

Slowly Korra smiled, cupping my cheek to give me a deep kiss. "Okay. I'll marry you."

Senna's POV

I couldn't help but smile as I watched my daughter and her husband dance together. Her arms were wrapped around his neck and he had his arms wrapped around her waist. They both danced as if they were the only people in the world, their eyes shining, never lifting from the other. Seeing her in my old wedding dress, dancing, and just so happy... Words could not describe what I felt.

My husband held out his hand for me and I chuckled as I took it, joining him on the dance floor. Tonraq had looked so proud as he walked our little girl down the isle and I'd even seen him shed a few tears. It was just such a wonderful moment to see Korra get married. A year ago the mere concept of it would have been unreachable dream, but she had changed. Mako had changed her. He had been patient with our daughter and she had come so far. My daughter was finally going to have a normal life she'd always wanted.

"I never thought I'd see the day," Tonraq commented after a moment.

I smiled and looked over at Korra. She just looked so beautiful. The dress was nothing fancy, and perhaps a little outdated but it looked perfect on her. Her hair was partially up in a bun, some of her longer hair framing her face. I looked over at Asami, who was also watching my daughter, a small smile on her face as she danced with her husband. She had worn a long red dress, her raven hair down from its usual bun. It had been her idea to hold the wedding at her estate located on the outskirts of the city. The two friends had danced together earlier to the high tempo music, just twirling and laughing, having fun.

"She's just so happy," I replied.

He nodded and we danced closer to them, my husband asking if he could cut in. Mako easily traded and I chuckled when I saw Korra hug her father. My son-in-law did the same, his attention focused on his wife. They would be leaving soon for their honeymoon and I knew that neither of them could wait.

"Thank you for making her happy," I said.

He smiled at me. "I'll always make her happy. I promise."

And I knew he would.

Mako's POV

I couldn't help but smile as I watched Korra sleep. She was on her stomach, wearing only her top and boxers. We had been on Ember Island for over a week and she was worn out. Every morning we would get up early and go exploring, hiking high in the mountains, scuba diving, and just spending time on the beach. Sometimes at night we would go to a nearby bar and have a few drinks before going back to the house I'd rented and... Well...Let's just say we had some very long nights.

I gave her cheek a kiss before covering her up, making sure she was comfortable before pulling a shirt over my head and heading to the kitchen. I made myself some coffee before going back to our room and standing by the door, looking at my wife. Wife. I'd never thought I'd ever call anyone else that but I had completely fallen in love with Korra. She made me happier than I could have ever imagined and we were both so in love. My phone rang and I let out a sigh before answering.

"Hey Iroh," I greeted.

"How's the honeymoon going?" he asked. "Have you broken the bed yet?"

I rolled my eyes. "Is everything okay at headquarters?"

He laughed. "You know what the Chief said. You're not working so don't worry about us." A pause. "Where's the shrimp?"

"Asleep. She's exhausted."

"What a lightweight!" Iroh answered with a loud laugh. "Listen, I have to go. Just wanted to make sure you two were having fun. Enjoy the rest of your stay."

I thanked him and hung up, grabbing a book and going back to bed. It wasn't until the afternoon that Korra stirred and I put the book on the nightstand before turning to face her, wrapping an arm around her waist. She blinked awake, smiling before snuggling closer, letting out a sigh.

"Morning."

I chuckled. "It's nearly three in the afternoon," I corrected.

Her eyes widened and she cursed under her breath. "That means we missed the play. I'm so sorry."

I gave her a quick kiss. "It's fine, I was reading that it wasn't all that great anyways."

Korra hummed in response, giving me a deep kiss as she tugged my shirt up. I raised a brow at her actions and she laughed as she continued to kiss me.

"So soon?" I teased.

"Well you did say you wanted to expand our family," she replied between kisses. "What better way to start than during our honeymoon?"

I blinked. Had I heard right? Did she... She wanted us to have a baby! "Are you sure about this?" I asked. I didn't want to force her into something she didn't want or wasn't ready for.

"A baby is what you want and now that there isn't anybody to ruin our happiness," Korra began as she continued to kiss me. "I figured we could try. I went off the pill after you proposed. We can try."

I grinned at her and soon enough our remaining clothes were shed and my lips were on hers.
