Last Time on Was it Fate or Destiny?:

"So?" Lucy started off

"I don't want to talk about it" Sting told her

"Sting I know how it feels" Lucy tried to comfort him

"But you don't get it" Sting said, "You don't get why it hurts so much or why I am who I am"

"Let me guess" Lucy said, "It changed you"

Sting didn't say a word. She was right after all but he wasn't in the mode of reliving the events just to tell her how much he had changed. He just was ready. So they cleaned the dishes in silence. Lucy still worried and Sting still trying to hide the pain.

"Karaoke this Friday" Lucy said before he closed the door "You should come"

Lucy put her hands around his waist embracing him in a hug but he didn't hug back. Sting just stood there tears almost falling. Lucy then stood on her tippy toes and gave him a quick peck on the check. Then she moved away from Sting and into her car that was on the opposite side of the rood.

Once Lucy was far-gone Sting let the tears finally fall. He broke down in the doorframe on his knees and cried.

"Your phone has been ringing nonstop" Luxas told Sting who was on the couch still dressed in what he had on yesterday "Pick the damn thing up"

Sting unwilling got up and got his phone from Laxus, pressed the answer button not having a clue who the fuck he was talking to.

"Bye man! I'll miss you and it was great catching up and shit but I have love to find and confidence to regain" Loke beamed "I'll visit you soon enough. You can count on it"

"I'm not doubting you will man" Sting told him rubbing his eyes

"Oh and one more thing" Loke said

"What is it?" Sting asked, "You better not start talking some gay shit"

"No man" Loke assured him "It's just that you should look around, there is someone who you might find needs you to be there and you need him or her"

"Mind telling me who this person is?" Stings asked

"Figure that out" Loke yelled "You're smart!"

With that Loke hangs up and Sting is left with a pounding headache like someone was playing drums on his head. He stood up to answer the door seeing as his brother wasn't going to. He opened it and groaned Rouge walked but behind him was Lucy. Sting didn't hate Lucy or anything but he didn't feel like answering any of her annoying questions.

"I know not so happy to see me but," Rouge began "Fuck you bro"

"I don't care about you" Sting told him "Why is she here?"

"I care" Lucy beamed "Now get your sorry ass up stairs and look presentable, school is in an hour and believe me sweetheart, I'm not in a fuck around kind of mode"

Sting stiffened and for some odd reason found he was doing as Lucy instructed without a clever comeback or an objection. He wasn't the only one surprised by this, Rogue was left blown away and Laxus open mouthed and spoon dropped.

"I didn't think he would listen" Lucy said astonished when she heard Sting's door close

"You just told him to and he did it" Laxus said facing her "You didn't even have to raise your voice"

"He didn't give back a smart reply or protest" Rogue carried on

Lucy smiled happy with what she was able to do. Maybe she put her plans to get Sting to like her the way she did but she didn't care. All she really wanted was his trust so he could feel like telling her everything, even about his mother. That was all Lucy was really asking and hoping for.

Sting came down after a few minutes, refreshed and clean with his school clothes on. He looked like he had just stepped out of a photo shot; it was like last night never happened. Of course Lucy was staring and maybe even drooling at Sting but honestly she didn't care, Sting obviously wouldn't notice in the first place.

"You clean up good" Rogue said smirking "Never knew you knew what soap was"

"I know what an idiot is" Sting told him looking at him "Because I'm staring right at one"

"Be nice Sting" Lucy said pointing her fingers

"It's not nice to point fingers Blondie" Sting reminded

"Stingy!" Lucy said her voice flat

"Blondie!" Sting said imitating her voice

They had a glare off now facing each other, Sting and Lucy just glaring at each other, seeing which one of them was going to give in.

I could stare at those gorgeous sky blue eyes all day and never get bored. Lucy thought

The Blondie is kind of cute when she's glaring and pouting like that. Sting thought breaking into a smile and walking to get his breakfast.

Lucy sighed and sat down in front of him observing him, she was afraid that he wasn't ok, that he wasn't going to make it out the door, that he was going to change any minute. Laxus had already left and Rogue decided to give the two some personal time.

"I'll go" Sting said

"Go where?" Lucy asked confused

"I'll go with you to the karaoke" Sting told her

"Oh that's great!" Lucy proclaimed "It would be good for you with the whole thing"

"Lucy look," Sting started "I don't like talking about it, I don't want to talk about it and I absolutely don't want you to keep going on about it"

"Sorry" Lucy said "I'll stop. I just hope you know that I'm here for you"

She reached her hand over the table and grabbed Sting's gently stroking his palm with her thumb as if to comfort him. For a while it was working and Sting was calming down and forgetting and was almost back to himself but it made him a bit emotional.

"Lucy please stop" Sting said but he didn't move his hand he liked the warmth

"I'm just trying to help Sting" Lucy told him "Let me help you"

"I don't need help" Sting said calmly anger starting "I'm fine. I don't have a mental problem and I certainly don't have anything wrong with me"

"I know that" Lucy started "I meant-"

"You just don't fucking get it," Sting yelled standing up "I don't want or need your help because I'm fucking fine for fucks sake. If you have a problem with how I dial with my problem with my mum dying then get the fuck out of my house and disappear from my life"

"Is that what you want?" Lucy asked standing up too

Maybe it was the fact that she had had enough of him not accepting the fact that she wanted to help him.

"I want you to STOP thinking there is something wrong with me" Sting told her

"Well sorry for caring" Lucy said walking towards the door

"What's really wrong Lucy?" Sting asked

Blondie please. I know this isn't about me; I'm just a distraction for you. Sting came to a realization

"Nothing's wrong" Lucy told him in a quiet voice not facing him

"Look me in the eye and say nothings wrong" Sting told her getting closer

Lucy didn't turn to face him and she didn't move a muscle either. It was too much. So far she was able to forget just a bit and pretend that she wasn't feeling the pain that her dad might not come back to her. All she wanted was a chance to escape that reality with a distraction and so far Sting was the perfect distraction but she should have known better than to think he wouldn't notice.

"Come on Luce" Sting said softly reaching for her hand and turning her "You can tell me"

"I don't" Lucy started and left the sentence hanging

She couldn't. The distance between her and Sting was embarrassing. Sting's hand was on her waist almost supporting her while his other hand brushed her hair out of her face. Sting was looking at her with concern and Lucy was avoiding his eye.

"Wanna ditch school today and just hang with me?" Sting asked

Lucy could never think about doing that but if Sting was with her and they didn't go out then maybe she would think it was ok. So she nods agreeing and Sting didn't let her go. He thought she was too fragile to be let go of.

"Since you two are ditching I'll cover for you" Rogue told them heading for the door "Lucy, what should I tell Levy-chan"

Lucy didn't answer, she just buried her head into Sting's chest and kind of ignored Rogue but she didn't care. Now wasn't the time for her to rethink this whole ditching thing.

"Don't tell her a thing just say," Sting answered for her "I'm sick and she's looking after me"

"Whatever man" Rogue said "Cya later man"

Rogue walked out of the door leaving the two blondes to a house all by themselves. They didn't move from their position and Lucy never wanted to ever leave their position.

"So what do you want to do?" Sting asked

"Can we just stay like this?" Lucy asked

"Sure" Sting agreed patting her on the head "Today's your day Luce"

"This isn't what I wanted," Lucy admitted

"What did you want?" Sting asked stroking her hair

"I want it me to be there for you" Lucy confessed "I want to be the one stroking your hair while you tell me everything"

Sting smiled at this. Lucy was just embarrassed so she made her head go farther into Sting's shirt. They were silent but it wasn't awkward it was comforting and in an odd way assuring.

"To bad Luce" Sting said "It's me doing that"

"Why is it always you?" Lucy asked

"Because I'm Sting" Sting told her

"You're a great friend," Lucy told him "I'm sorry about before"

Sting moved a few inches away and cupped Lucy's face so she was facing him and he looked straight into her big brown eyes that were sparkling thanks to the tears about to fall and he got closer to her face until they were inches apart. Lucy thought he was going to kiss but at the same time she knew that he wasn't going to do such a thing. Sting kept getting closer and ended up kissing her on her forehead and stroking her hair.

"Don't tease me like that Sting" Lucy told him pushing away but failing

"Like I was actually going to kiss you straight on your lips" Sting told her letting go and sitting down in the living room

Baka! Baka! Baka! For the love of all thing sane fucking kiss me already for fucks sake. Lucy chimed in her head sitting next to him and laying her head on his shoulder.

"I know you were tempted to" Lucy told him looking away

"Don't even try that game on me Luce" Sting warned her

Lucy just huffed and crossed her arms, but she knew if she tried taunting him and teasing him it would be her finally giving in to how she feels for him. Sting smiled and put his hand on her head, bringing her head to his lap. Lucy didn't move or protest she swag her legs on the chair and faced up at him and Sting out his hand across her belly.

Please tell me this is your way of flirting, you're not just doing this cause I need comfort. Lucy begged.

"So, Luce. You're dad's in a coma huh" Sting started

"For once you're not calling me Blondie Stingy" Lucy said smiling or at least trying to

"Lucy!" Sting yelled

"Yes he is" Lucy said "We're not sure if he is going to wake up and I want him to but what if nothing changes"

"What do you mean?" Sting asked finally getting somewhere with her

"I mean what if he doesn't realize like I did that I love him and need him," Lucy confessed

"Do really love him?" Sting asked

"His my dad why not?" Lucy contoured

"Maybe because you lost your mum so now that you're about to lose your dad well you're feeling falsely," Sting explained

"I honestly don't care about how false my feelings might be towards him" Lucy confessed "Sure he is a butthead and a totally pain in the ass but I want to know why?"

"Why what?" Sting asked

"He came out of the blue like that" Lucy said "What if he messed up and he didn't mean those words"

"Then he is a dumbass," Sting told her

"I'm hoping for too much" Lucy sighed turning to face the TV"

"I think you're not just hoping" Sting added "You're wishing he came all this way to apologize, to tell you that he came to his senses and loves you as much as you love him"

Lucy nodded after all it was true. All she really wanted was for her dad to wake up and demand that she moved back in with him, that he apologized for ignoring her and that he made sure that he made things right. If he died after doing all that maybe she would feel no shred of guilt.

"I never thanked you for that night" Lucy remembered "You truly are a great friend"

"I've heard it all before" Sting told her "I know I am"

Lucy light tapped his knee and they laughed. It felt good to let it all out to stop trying to hide it. Now all she wanted was for her dad to wake up and for her wish to come true but she wasn't sure how it would play out.

"Sting" Lucy said quietly "I think I need to tell him this"

"Then what are we waiting for?" Sting asked

Sting stood up and started making his way upstairs to change into something less obvious to the fact that he skipped school. Lucy sat still waiting.

"After you tell him we can get you a milkshake as a prise" Sting yelled from up stairs

"As long as you're buying I'm happy with that idea" Lucy yelled back

"Then it's all a fun day with just you and me" Sting yelled coming down the stairs

"I don't mind that" Lucy admitted

Sting grabbed his keys and put his wallet in his pockets before closing the house door while Lucy made her way to her car. Sting made way to his and got in.

"Come on enter your car we go to your house, you change we get you to the hospital and you say what you need to say to Jude" Sting told her

"When you said 'then what are we waiting for'" Lucy started "Well I'm waiting for courage"

"Luce look" Sting said slow "I'll be right there with you through the whole thing. I'll be your support and I'll even say the words for you if you want"

Lucy looked at him and smiled. Maybe just maybe she didn't need the courage just the fact that Sting was going to be right there with her the whole time was all she really needed and with that she got into her car and they drove to her house.

Once Lucy got out of her house in shorts and a tank top she headed for Sting's car and got in, leaving her car parked in the driveway. Sting smiled at her as she got in kind of proud that she had the guts to do this.

"You ready?" Sting asked

"Yes" Lucy confirmed

That was all Sting need to drive to the hospital. The radio was playing in the car and no one was talking. Sting was giving Lucy time to figure out what exactly she was going to say. She was ready for this and she needed to do this. She took in slow steady breaths and the hospital neared.

Once Sting found a parking spot, he turned the engine off and waited for Lucy's break down. He sort of knew that she was going to start panicking bow that she was seconds away from telling her dad what she had to tell him.

In 5..4..3..2..1. Sting counted down

"Sting!" Lucy said nervousness feeling her voice

Right on time. Sting said to himself

"Yeah Luce?" Sting asked

"What if the nurses don't let me see him?" Lucy asked, "What is Rufus is there and he get's pissed and I get grounded?"

Lucy was thinking of so many consequences and obstacles that could prevent her from see and talking to her dad. Sting just rolled his eyes at his blonde companion and got out of the car. Lucy not feeling like she could be alone right now follow suit. She closed her door and turned around. Sting was already in front of her and she was frightened, he had not given her room to escape because she was leaning against the car and he had both hands at either side of her head.

"Ok look" Sting said in a commanding way "Till we reach you're dad's room I do all the talking"

Lucy nodded knowing it was for the best.

"You will talk to him and you will say what you have to say to him. I want you not leaving a single detail out"

Lucy nodded again. She couldn't really object in her situation right now.

"If you break down and cry, you won't walk away. You will pull yourself together. However if this happens 3 times I will do all the talking"

Lucy nodded for the last time she hopped and Sting was going to give her orders but she couldn't deny that it was helping and what he was going to do was going to help her in so many way.

"Thanks Sting" Lucy said, "I really needed that"

With that she gave him a quick peck on the check and just stood there blushing. Sting however wasn't fazed and just grabbed her hand and made a march towards to hospital doors. When they entered they received stares but Sting didn't care he walked up to the receptionist not letting go of Lucy's hand at all.

"Hi there" Sting started "Lucy Heartfilia to see Jude, her dad"

"You are?" She asked

"Her moral support" Sting answered

"I'm sure she's old enough to go by herself" she said

"By moral support I mean Boyfriend" Sting lied "Not a great past with her dad so I'm here just be here"

The woman studied Sting and Lucy for a while and yeah they did look like a couple, with the holding hands and Lucy not being able to control her blushing. She gave them the room number in the head and they headed for his room. Sting turned the knob but looked at Lucy to see if she was ready and she nodded. The door opened fully and Jude was awake. Lucy eyes filled with tears but she didn't let them fall. They both stepped in hands still joined. Sting closed the door and he brought Lucy to face her father and be right by his side.

"What a pleasant surprise!" Jude proclaimed smiling and looking better

"Hello Jude" Sting said like they were old friends

"I remember you" Jude said letting out a laugh

"As much as I would love to talk more about our first meeting but I'm afraid now's not the time"

"Why is that?" Jude asked confused

Sting turned to face Lucy and she was looking at her dad. He knew perfectly well what was going through her head and knew that she had the guts to do this now. He stopped talking and waited for her to start.

"Papa" Lucy started "When I heard that you were in a coma, I cried myself to sleep and then I realized that I loved you and I still care about you papa. I really want us to be a family again but I want it to be family and not business for once"

"I know I've been a terrible father and all but I came to Rufus' house that day I was really there to say I wanted the same thing and I want you to find a way to forgive me" Jude confessed "I just froze that day I came to see you and I didn't want to look weak in front of you"

Lucy smiled at her dad and embarrassed being careful not to embarrass to hard. Sting smiled too and was about to walk out of the room to give them some family time with just the two of them but a hand stopped him.

"Thank you Sting" Lucy said and turned to her dad not letting go of Sting "I'll see you later papa, you rest up"

Jude nodded and smiled at his daughter happy that she was happy and the fact that they had cleared everything up with each other.

"Thank you for taking care of my daughter Sting" Jude called when the door was almost closed
