Lots of answered questions and some fun filler. ENJOY!
Sakura opened her eyes slowly then rubbed them. Luckily it wasn't bright outside so her adjustment didn't take too long. Once they came into focus she realized she wasn't in either her room with the Harunos or in that cave where the sealing took place.
"Have you figured it out yet?"
She turned her head to the right spying her sexy fiancé lying next to her.
"I know I'm not at home, or in that cave, so the only logical thing that I'm finally in your bedroom," she answered with a small smile.
"You'd be right," he smirked at her.
"What happened?"
He leaned up onto his shoulder peering down at her, "Where would you like me to start?"
"When the sealing started."
He explained what he saw not leaving out any details. Sakura cringed when he described her wailing during the second stage of the seal.
"As far as I know nobody was hurt but you were definitely unconscious when I took you out of there."
"So…later then when you were with me in my mind. How did you do that?"
Itachi shrugged, "I opened your eyes, activated my sharingan and…pushed myself inside."
That made Sakura furrowed her brows, "Pushed? That doesn't make sense…"
"It was how Sasuke explained it to me. He told me about the day you and your team invaded Orochimaru's base. He said he could sense the Kyuubi inside Naruto and when he caught him in his sharingan gaze he just forced himself inside his mind. So I did that with you. It's a little difficult to explain."
She nodded in vague understanding, "Makes a little sense. So that's how you got into my mindscape to speak with me, my Inner, and Ko-…I mean the Gobi."
He nodded.
"I remember a…dream I think. It was of the New Year's festival after the fireworks when I convinced you to come with me to the dance club."
"Hai," he smirked at her.
"Did you…I mean I couldn't really know what you were thinking or anything so did you alter it?"
"Not alter it no, but more like added a little of my perspective. You were still unconscious and dreaming and I started out watching but then I decided to try something out. So at the appropriate moments I inserted my own thoughts from my memories so you would know the effect that you have on me."
Her cheeks tinted into a light pink, "I affect you that much?"
He leaned down his nose brushing hers, "Definitely."
"Oh."
He didn't move just stayed perfectly still staring into her emerald eyes. Mostly he wanted to see what she would do, what she would say. Would she force him down to kiss her? Or would she chicken out and smile sheepishly? Either way this was a small test in a way. He didn't always want to be the one to instigate their intimacy, maybe she would feel more comfortable if she were the one in charge.
"Why aren't you kissing me?" she whispered not taking her gaze away from his.
"I'm waiting?"
"For what?"
"For you."
"I…" she took a deep breath letting it out slowly through her nose, "I want you to kiss me."
"Do you?"
"Yes."
"Then make me."
She blinked several times at his statement. "Make you?"
"Make me."
"But I-"
"If you really want me to kiss you…then you better make me," he challenged.
She was shocked. That was all there was to it. Why the hell wasn't Itachi just kissing her? He was waiting for her to make the next move but she didn't really understand why. He never hesitated in kissing her before. Granted sometimes he would ask for permission especially when he was going to touch her but this time he didn't do anything. It was very confusing why he wasn't just leaning down to kiss her. It almost made her feel…unwanted?
"Stop over thinking it," he told her in an even voice, "That's not why and you know it."
"Then why won't you kiss me?" she asked her confusion very much evident, as well as her hurt.
"Why must I always be the one to make the first move?"
Fair point well made sexy.
Is it true? Does he always move first?
Hmmm…yeah mostly. Even more so now that you've been rescued. You've never instigated any type of physical intimacy ever since your kidnapping. Before the whole thing you would hug him and kiss him without warning. Now you don't.
Oh…
She took another deep breath while bringing her hand up to caress his cheek, "I'm sorry Itachi. I didn't mean to-"
"Stop apologizing my jewel," he rubbed his nose against her affectionately, "We'll get better in time. I just want you to be comfortable."
"I know," her fingers ran through his long bangs, "I guess I need to stop being so dependent on you. I need to take charge of myself again."
"That's my girl."
She smiled affectionately then gently prodded his face down so their lips connected gently. Just a simple affectionate kiss telling him everything he needed to know.
Luckily, or not, they were interrupted before things got a little out of control.
"Aniki, Okaa-san says dinner's ready," Sasuke announced as he walked into his brother's room, "Oh…Sakura you're awake. I'll tell Okaa-san to set another place at the table."
"Thanks Sasuke," she smiled graciously at him.
"Hn. Hurry up. I don't want to walk in on something more disturbing than this."
Sakura chuckled as he left keeping the door open.
"Help me sit up?" she asked lifting her hands.
He obliged slowly pulling her up. Once her feet were over the side of his low rise futon she sat still. The dizziness was mild and went away quickly. Reaching for his hands again she stood up and he held her steadily making sure she didn't sway on her feet. Dizziness was minimal again which she was glad for.
"I'm good, let's go down to eat."
He nodded and led her through the house to the dining room where dinner was served. They were the last to be seated.
"Oh Sakura-chan, I'm glad to see you're awake," Mikoto stood and hugged her.
"Thank you Mikoto-san. And thanks for letting me eat with you."
"Nonsense you're going to be my daughter. Anytime you need a meal you come to me, do you understand?"
"Hai, thank you," Sakura smiled as Itachi helped her to kneel on the cushion.
They began to pass the food when Mikoto spoke again, "So have you thought at all when you'd like the wedding to be?"
"Oh," her cheeks blushed again, "I haven't actually. I'm open to suggestions."
Mikoto smiled at her, "Well you can always wait until spring. The cherry blossoms will be in bloom then and they make a beautiful backdrop for a wedding. But that's just my opinion."
"No you're right it would be beautiful," Sakura agreed scooping rice onto her plate.
"It would also give us plenty of time to plan everything. If you're getting a custom made kimono it'll give the seamstresses time to weave it for you. Not to mention all the food ordered and invitations assembled and delivered."
"Oh…I uh…wow I hadn't thought of that."
"Okaa-san let's not burden her too much," Itachi requested.
"No Itachi please, she's right. Depending on the time of year we wish to get married I need to be on top of these things."
"Just be careful, after the sealing you'll be a little off. Don't over exert yourself," he brought her hand up and kissed her knuckles. It was a very uncharacteristic display of affection, especially at the table in front of his parents.
"I won't. I promise."
He nodded then resumed his dinner.
"We'll save all the walking into stores for after you're back to normal. We'll do all the easy stuff first," Mikoto smiled at her.
"Good idea," Sakura smiled back as she continued eating. "I'll let you know when I'm back to normal."
"Excellent. This is going to be exciting."
Sasuke groaned at that, "Don't go overboard Kaa-san…please."
"It's not your wedding Sasuke so you get absolutely no say it what happens," she told him in a firm voice, "When your time comes, which it will, then you can decide how you want it."
"Hn." He didn't even try to argue with her, he knew it was futile. Which made Sakura giggle, earning her a perturbed glare from her teammate.
"It will have to be a relatively large ceremony considering Itachi is the heir. Many of the prominent clan heads and such will need to be invited. Whether or not they show up is their choice," Fugaku stated.
Holy fuckballs…
Did he just speak?
"That is true," Mikoto agreed, "We'll have to make sure there's enough room at the Naka Shrine for those who attend. Sakura is very well known in the village so my guess is the attendance will be greater than a typical wedding that we've had for an heir."
Fugaku nodded at her, "I think a list of people needs to be created first and send out RSVPs so we can get an accurate count. I think a spring wedding or even summer would be preferable considering the size of the wedding."
Sakura was still too stunned to say something. She really couldn't believe it considering the last time she had spoken or seen the man he had scolded her, told her she wasn't good enough. And now here he was talking and supporting the wedding. It was a very surreal experience for her and her Inner had absolutely nothing to say to her about it. She was just as stunned.
"You," she cleared her throat and dabbed her mouth, "You're probably right. I think I'd prefer a spring wedding anyway. After my birthday so that'd give us about three months to plan, depending on the day. Is that ok with you Itachi?"
He turned to her and smiled, "Whatever you want is fine with me."
She narrowed her eyes at him, "Oh no…you are so not getting away with that typical male answer. You will register an opinion when asked for one, understand?"
"Whatever you want my dear," He answered with a small mocking smirk. It made her growl but that was only to cover up the smile that was forcing its way to the surface.
Mikoto chuckled at their banter, they were already acting like an old married couple. Itachi picked up the yes dear persona quick. Sasuke just smirked knowing that Itachi, just like her boys, loved to push her buttons. Fugaku only allowed a small quirk of his lips before he covered it with his cup of tea.
Time had flown by since that night for Sakura. Tsunade took her off the hospital shifts after her sealing in order to let her recover. It obviously wasn't very smart to have someone with low chakra levels try to heal someone else. Especially if they were critical and needed focused care.
But that didn't matter because the wedding plans really took off. Between her and Itachi's family, namely his mother, they decided April 11th was the perfect date. The weather would still be cool enough for an outside wedding and the sakura trees would be in full bloom just prior to the winds that swept in in late spring to steal them from their trees. Sakura and Mikoto admitted that they didn't want to be taking blossoms out of their wedding up-do's for the entire celebration.
Wedding colors were simple, both clans had the color red in their garbs, so instead of just the royal blue from the Uchiha's and the red from both, Sakura added splashes of pink in honor of spring and because of her hair. She had been made fun of, laughed at, and everything else under the sun about her hair so why not incorporate the blasted color into her wedding. At least this time it will be at her say so. Not to mention the colors look fabulous together and Ino practically insisted that she needed more than just two.
But that wasn't even the half of it. It was all about the food. She couldn't believe all the trouble it had taken to just decide on food. Mikoto and Fugaku bickered over the selections for an hour while she and Itachi just sat there in silence watching them fight it out. At times it was hard for Sakura to not smile at the way Mikoto put her husband in his place and with the way she easily finagled him to see her point of view. It made her wonder if her life with Itachi would be similar. Glancing up at him she could tell he was thinking along similar lines. Luckily both Mikoto and Fugaku were able to come to a decision on food. Sakura stated, as per Ino again, that the wedding couple never actually got to really eat at the wedding unless they were catering a sit down dinner. And based on the number of people just being invited, they opted to not do that, it was just too expensive to feed close to three hundred or more people for one hundred dollars a plate. The Uchiha clan was very wealthy but even that would get close to breaking the bank.
Honestly, she wanted to pull her hair out and she knew that her headaches weren't over yet. Kimono and dress shopping were still to come. She and Mikoto decided that their wedding would be the first one to blend the traditional style of the weddings and the more contemporary style that was sweeping the land. It fit, considering the changing world they were living in. So for the ceremony Sakura would dress in what was likely to be the most immaculate kimono ever worn by a woman. Then for the reception and dancing, which she insisted on, she would purchase a lighter and contemporary wedding dress. Luckily both styles resided in Konoha and if one did not have her style she was sure the seamstresses would make her a custom dress.
But all of that was to be put on hold for the time being. It was the end of January and it was graduation time for the Medical Academy. Their graduation was the day before the regular Academy graduation so that they could meet up with their assigned Genin teams. And Sakura as the Head Master of the Academy was in charge of the ceremony. She had to give a congratulatory speech, confer the newly instated medic pins on the graduates and give closing remarks. As the medics were given their diplomas they were also handed their Genin team assignments and meeting areas.
Sakura was dressed in her doctor best with black satin slacks and red silk shirt. Her doctor coat rested over her shoulders and her medical apron was around her waist. She never went without it unless she had to. And with the ceremony and the graduating medics it seemed very appropriate to wear.
There were many chairs set up in the front lawn of the Academy and a large stage with bleachers that would hold all the students was set up on the stage. The first graduating class of medics was at fifty and the civilians at thirty. And they were a diverse age group. With its installment and continuation Sakura knew that the ages would be less diverse and more around the same. Granted the Academy would accept any age, shinobi or civilian, at any time. The chairs were filling up and there was only ten minutes until the ceremony started and for some very unknown and awkward reason Sakura was nervous.
Completely ridiculous.
I know but I have to do all the talking and conferring and it's nerve wracking.
Suck it up. This day is not about you, it's about the graduates. Your students.
You're right.
A small string quartet sat to the side playing prelude music while people mingled and found their seats. Shizune had walked up to the podium to ask everyone to sit close together since they were expecting a large crowd.
"Sakura!"
She turned her head towards her master's voice, "Hai shishou?"
"Here," The older woman took a large red cross out of her pocket and pinned it over Sakura's heart. It had the leaf symbol stamped in the middle along with a HM to signify her status. "To show your position while presenting."
"Oh! Thank you."
Tsunade snorted, "It's not that nice. Just some scrap of metal painted red. I'm sure once you give your position over to Shizune we can have something better made."
That made Sakura's eyes widen, "What do you mean?"
"You didn't honestly think that you'd still carry all of these responsibilities after being married and made a clan matriarch did you?"
"It honestly hadn't occurred to me," Sakura answered stunned.
"Well get used to it and quick. Once all of this frivolity is over I'm handing the reigns over to Naruto and he's forcing you to give up your seat as the Academy's Headmaster and as the Hospital Director. Luckily he will still want you involved in the village so you will retain your position as Chief Medical Officer. He knew you'd need something else to worry about besides the clan you're marrying into."
Her shock gave way to understanding as she smiled at her master, "He's right on all accounts for once. There's no way I could do my clan duties and be everything I already am. And I'm also happy I'm still going to be Chief Medical Officer." A wry smile crossed her lips, "Does that mean you have to report to me?"
Tsunade smirked, "Unfortunately…but I tend to be like Kakashi so don't expect much."
Sakura giggled at that. Her master would do everything else before doing paperwork. That was something that will never change.
"Of course you will be on call for all emergencies at the hospital. You will only have shifts if we are short staffed. Naruto wanted you on staff on weekends but after thinking it through further, these medics will need the experience. Maybe I'll make you a trainer when you have time."
"Whatever you need me for shishou, I'll always help you."
"Yeah I know. Let's get this party started I'll go get the graduates."
Sakura made her way over to the quartet to notify them of the start. She was stopped a couple times to exchange pleasantries and give her teammates a hug since they showed up to support her. Even some of her clansmen came to see the ceremony considering they never have before. She spied Itachi entering the courtyard and made a quick detour to give him a kiss before scurrying on. She didn't want to be the reason they were late for the first official graduation. That would be embarrassing.
At her nod the music finished their piece as Sakura took the stage to polite clapping.
"Welcome everyone to the first graduation ceremony for the new Medical Academy."
More polite clapping, she took that time to smile at her friends all sitting in the front rows.
"Without further ado please join me in welcoming the first graduating class of medics and nurses!"
As the graduates entered and ascended the stage some members of the audience stood while applauding. Some of the graduates smiled and waved at family members who were yelling and whistling to get their attention. Sakura couldn't help but feel proud. They deserved it; it was hard work going through this Academy especially doing it all in a year. Following the students were the professors including some doctors from the hospital, Ino, Hinata, Shizune, and Tsunade. They took their seats in front of the graduates on the stage. Once everyone was settled Sakura continued her speech.
"As the Headmaster of this Academy I am proud to be standing here congratulating the first graduating class. One behalf of all the students I'd like to thank all the family and friends for your continued support as they worked through this rigorous program."
More polite clapping but she could see people nodding their heads.
"For those of you who do not know let me explain what our students go through during this intense year of study. All students after graduating from the Ninja Academy or from Primary School can apply to this Academy. If they are accepted it shows us professors that they have a basic thorough knowledge of anatomy. Once accepted the shinobi and civilians are separated into two groups to continue their learning. For the shinobi they continue their study and apply it to field practices. They must know a variety of ways to apply their knowledge whilst in the heat of a mission. They are drilled in fine-tuned chakra control and medcial jutsu and are given the choices of mastering medicinal herbs and creams, poison creation and antidotes, or in field surgeries. They are then assigned to medical teams based on areas of expertise so that each team has a member studying one of the three subjects. They are also assigned to hospital shifts where they become familiar with the routines of the busiest building in the village."
That elicited chuckles from the audience as well as the graduates. They all knew how crazy it was there.
"They are the nurse's and doctor's aides. Once the shinobi have finished their courses and their stint on the medical teams they join the ranks of the newly formed Genin teams to learn ninjutsu and everything else that comes with being a shinobi. As for the civilians in the Academy they are given a more in depth study of anatomy since after they graduate they have the option of either becoming registered nurses in the hospital or furthering their education to become doctors and surgeons. They are the ones who regulate medication given to each of the patients and they consult with the doctors on the best treatments for each of their patients. They are also given a theoretical knowledge of medical jutsu so if a procedure is used on a patient they know exactly what has happened and can act accordingly. The areas of expertise they can master are: prescription distribution, surgical procedures and performance, diagnostics, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, ICU, NICU, maternity, and long term care. They also have a six month stint working rotations in the hospital. These faces will be the ones who will be by your bedside and the evil witches to give all the children and adults their yearly shots." People snickered again, "With the rise in civilian interest and education in the medical field it is our hope and the Hokage's hope that our shinobi medics can stay in the field and bring more of our comrades home from their missions."
Loud applause followed her statement mostly from the shinobi in the crowd. Nobody liked to lose a family member to a mission. More medics meant a higher probability of shinobi coming home.
"And last but not least, all of our medics and nurses are certified triage specialists. We live in a shinobi village, the greatest Hidden Village of all the Five Nations. As this past war has shown us, we are not immune to attacks. During the event of an attack all registered nurses are to report to the hospital first and either prepare for the onslaught of wounded or to evacuate into Hokage Mountain. All medical shinobi are to provide protection for the evacuation or they are to gather the wounded and either perform life saving techniques in the field or transport them to the hospital for treatment. Then once the fighting is concluded they are to assist in the healings of critical to non-critical patients." More polite applause.
"Our students have worked hard. They have studied more information in this past year than any medical students have before them. Even though they graduate today these doors will remain open to them as sources of information to continue to expand their knowledge of the ever changing medical world. So I expect to see all you graduates continuing to study up and stay current with the times, is that clear?" She turned to address the students behind her.
"Hai Sakura-sensei!" They all responded dutifully.
"Good," she nodded, "Then it will be my pleasure to introduce this year's valedictorian Uchiha Reiko."
Louder applause greeted the young Uchiha. Sakura had to contain her giggle when she saw Shisui stand up and yell in an embarrassing loud voice, "THAT'S MY SISTER!" And as Shisui always does, he made the entire crowd laugh.
And being the little Uchiha that she was, Reiko glowered at her brother making the crowd laugh again. Sakura was very proud of her young student. She knew that Reiko was one of the brightest students in this class but when Acting Headmaster Hahn recommended her for the valedictorian speech Sakura was surprised. She shouldn't have been and she had to make sure that he wasn't choosing her because Reiko was her student, but Professor Hahn presented her with Reiko's final essay and she could see why he picked her. Listening now, Reiko gave a stirring speech of the hardships and eye opening experiences of being at the Academy. After Sakura's opening speech about what the Academy teaches it was interesting to hear it from the student's point of view.
Once she finished she was sent back to her seat with a large round of applause complete with whistles and cat-calls from her brother, Naruto, and Konohamaru. It took Reiko a few minutes to change her facial color from red back to cream.
"And now for the reading of the graduate names. Along with each of their diplomas each graduate will receive this pin," she held a miniature red cross with the village symbol inside it, "This shows everyone in the village that they are graduates of this Academy and it's also their pass to enter into the Academy to continue their research. The shinobi will also be receiving their orders to meet with their genin team. So without further ado we will proceed to the commencement."
With a nod the quartet began to play while Hinata walked up to the podium to read the names. They were read in alphabetical order by surname first. After each name was read their position was also stated: medic, to signify shinobi status; registered nurse, civilians who are not continuing their education; registered nurse continuing to doctorate. Once their names were read they would descend to receive their diploma from Sakura, handshake, the red pin from Tsunade, handshake, and if they were shinobi they received their team list and meet time from Shizune.
As per the usual commencement ceremony time was given between each name for the family to stand and cheer for their graduate as they walked across the stage. Ino had had the unfortunately job of alphabetizing the diplomas and handing them over to her in order. It was no small feat considering she had to go through eighty names. Once they were finished Sakura returned to the podium.
"We would like to thank everyone for coming today to support our graduates. As a final announcement I would like to state that in the coming months we will be opening our Academy to the other Hidden Villages to encourage the practice of medical ninjutsu around the world. We are all about saving lives. Our forefathers founded this village to save the lives of their brethren and clans. This is how we are furthering their dreams." More polite applause, "Now please enjoy the refreshments on the eastern section of the lawn."
As if someone had turned on the light in the dark room, all the graduates stood at once to make their way to their families. The music started again to entertain the guests while they ate and chatted. Sakura spied her boys and headed over to them.
"Back off Itachi you guys are married yet!" Naruto pushed his way to the front enveloping Sakura in a hug, "You were brilliant!"
She chuckled, "Thanks Naruto."
Once he set her down she walked over to Itachi curling easily into his side. "Do you agree with Naruto, Ita-kun?"
He smirked then kissed the top of her head, "It was a good ceremony, your speech was perfect."
"Thank you!" She kissed his cheek.
"There's my baby sister!" Shisui yelled. He flash stepped in front of her then picked her up twirling her around. Reiko squealed at her older brother's antics but smiled none-the-less. He was the only immediately family she had left since her parents were dead.
"Nii-chan! Put me down!" Reiko squealed before he obliged.
"Congratulations Reiko-chan," Sakura smiled proudly at her student, "Now do me proud out in the field."
"Hai shishou!"
"And let me treat you to dinner, you pick the place."
Reiko's smile widened at the offer.
"Hey shishou that's just not fair! Offering her food and not us," Moegi stated with her hands on her hips. TingTing stood next to her with her bottom lip jutted out and huge pouting eyes.
Sakura rolled hers, "All three of my medics, I'm buying you dinner pick the place!"
"Not ramen!" Moegi turned a glare on Naruto who smiled sheepishly.
"Yakiniku Q!" TingTing offered looking at Reiko. She nodded in agreement.
"Alright, let's get out of here," Sakura agreed.
"Oi Sakura-chan does this mean-" Naruto began.
"Naruto you're paying for your own goddamn food!"
"But Sakura-chan!"
Their large group was immediately seated with Itachi at the unofficial head of the table and Sakura next to him. Hinata, Ino, and Ino's boyfriend joined them as well. They ordered three large rounds of meat making sure everyone had enough when another large group walked in. Sakura was excited to see many of her clansmen walk in and waved to them.
"Come sit with us!" She yelled across the restaurant.
The restaurant provided more seats at their large table allowing all the women to sit. Itachi noticed that Sasuke had managed to persuade Kaminari to sit next to him. He still wasn't sure if Sasuke had figured out his feelings. We would definitely need to speak to his brother about that. What surprised him more was Kaminari's red cheeks and shy expression. He smirked, it seemed as though she was beginning to have a crush on his younger brother. He knew Sasuke would treat her well…or Sakura would kill him.
"Hello beautiful ladies, what brings you here today?" Shisui asked.
"We decided we wanted to eat out today. We're tired of home cooked food," Kaminari answered smiling at him.
"Sometimes you just need to spend a little money," Ino agreed, "Speaking of spending money Forehead. When are we going dress and kimono shopping?!"
Sakura chuckled lightly, "I haven't decided yet."
Ino groaned, "You are an infuriating woman! What if they need to custom make your kimono? That takes time to make it perfect miss 'I'm going to be the new Uchiha Matriarch.' That has to be perfect and fitting for your new rank."
"Kami Pig breathe, please breathe."
"I'm just saying Forehead, better to have that ready sooner rather than later. Adjustments and such can happen last minute and you don't want to be going crazy days before you get married and then be too tired and drained for the wedding night."
"INO!" Sakura exclaimed embarrassed, "Kami-sama watch your tongue!"
In the end Ino got her way. Two days later Sakura, Ino, Hinata, Tenten, Mikoto, Kaminari, Mizuko, Shizune, and Tsunade all came with her to go dress shopping. They decided to first go with the reception dress before being bombarded with different fabrics and the heavy layers of the wedding kimonos.
"Welcome to our store Sakura-san. It's an honor and a pleasure to have you here." One of the sales women came out to greet them. "I see you have plenty of people here to help you choose. That's always good to get everyone's opinions."
"Yeah," Sakura agreed shyly.
"So let's come over here so all the ladies can come sit while I pull out some dresses for you. Oh by the way my name is Maylee."
"It's nice to meet you Maylee."
All the women were seated next to a large three way mirror with a pedestal for her to stand on. This was it. The first time trying on a dress…for her wedding…and her mother wasn't here…
Come on. Don't think like that. You know she's here is spirit.
Yeah, I need to be happy. Think about better things.
Like the look on Itachi's face when he sees this dress.
She giggled to herself while the ladies got situated.
"This place is completely deserted did you hire it out today Sakura?" Hinata asked.
Sakura shook her head, "No. I just made an appointment."
"I did," Mikoto took a sip of water, "I thought it would be better for us to have some privacy rather than be hounded by random people wanting to watch you."
"Thank you," Sakura smiled at her.
Maylee returned with a rack full of gowns, "I wasn't sure what style you wanted so I grabbed a variety."
"Oh um, I'm not sure myself so let's just have at it."
Maylee smiled, "That's ok. I have the dressing room to the right open for you."
"That's not necessary unless everyone else is uncomfortable seeing me in my skivvies," Sakura glanced around the room with a giddy expression.
"Strip away Forehead!" Ino shouted.
All the ladies giggled while Sakura stripped to her underwear and stepped onto the pedestal. Maylee took off the first dress a floor length ball gown; strapless taffeta with beading on the bodice and by the hip. Everyone ooh-ed and aah-ed at the beautiful way it hung on her petite frame. It was beautiful but definitely too much dress.
"I think Maylee…" Sakura started turning around while examining herself in the mirror, "That after wearing a heavy kimono I'll want something lighter. More like simple elegance? There's going to be dancing so something that can move easily."
"Not a problem I have some that fit that description."
"That is a beautiful gown Sakura," Tsunade commented.
"It is but I just feel like it's too much for the reception. While the ceremony will be more serious and in line with tradition I want the reception to be more…"
"Like a giant party," Ino finished.
Sakura winked at her, "Exactly. I need a dress I can dance in."
"You got that right," Tenten agreed.
"And it's just the first one you've tried. Take your time to pick Sakura, you'll want it to be perfect," Mikoto said smiling at her.
Maylee helped her out of the ball gown then slipped on a mermaid style gown. This one was made of silk with a beaded belt that rested on her hips. It covered her breasts with a one shoulder strap over her left shoulder. It definitely was beautiful and everyone's reactions told her they agreed.
"Too restrictive, maybe something made out of lighter fabric?"
"Not to mention I don't think the one shoulder look is the one for you, Forehead," Ino commented.
"You think?" she asked turning around to face them.
"I'd have to agree Sakura," Mizuko commented, "I think you'd need more of a presence upstairs to pull off that look."
"Well it's a good thing Itachi isn't a boob guy then," Ino quipped.
"INO-PIG!"
All the girls chuckled even Mikoto. Sakura was very embarrassed to be having this conversation in front of her mother-in-law.
"Quit being embarrassed Sakura," Tsunade ordered, "Things will only get ten times worse once your bachelorette party comes around."
She stripped out of her dress with a groan then put the next one on. This one was an A-line chiffon ankle length halter dress with a large satin bow that tied in the back. It had a plunging neckline but her chest was covered modestly, no peeking boobs out of the sides. She could move easily in it and with heels there wouldn't be an issue of stepping on it.
Performing a small twirl and admiring the beautiful ring the dress created she faced her group, "So what do you think of this one?"
"I really like that one Sakura," Kaminari stated with a large smile.
"Very beautiful," Shizune nodded.
"I think halter tops are definitely your style. Draws more attention to your arms rather than chest," Ino stated with a large smile, "And it covers nicely so you don't look slutty at all with the neck line."
"Yeah that's what I like about it too," Sakura stated looking backwards into the mirror, "I also love this large bow."
"It's very beautiful on you Sakura," Mikoto smiled at her.
"Hey Maylee, do you have more halter tops?" Ino asked.
She nodded, "We do but I think we should try one more of a similar style just to make sure you want a halter top. Would you be ok with that Sakura-san?"
"Hai! You're the expert."
Maylee nodded as she helped her out of lovely dress, "I'll keep this one separate area for ones that you like. We can add more to the pile while you try one and then once you're finished you can choose from those."
"Excellent."
Maylee finished the buttons on the next dress then stood back so Sakura could get a good view. This dress was a simple A-line asymmetrical dress with a sweetheart neckline. The tulle that lined the outside of the dress was decorated in fine lace and beads that glittered lightly.
"I love the open part in the front and how the back is longer. That's so pretty," Kaminari stated.
"Yeah it's different and easy to move in," Sakura commented.
"It is beautiful, but I'm not certain it's really you," Tsunade said.
"I think that dress has the same problem at the one shoulder strap, you just need more boobs," Ino stated smirking wickedly at her.
"Do you have to be so crass about it Ino-Pig!"
"Kami-sama Ino get her boobs out of your head!" Tenten exclaimed.
"I think the other one looked better on you Sakura-chan," Hinata smiled shyly, "But I agree with Kaminari that the open part in the front is beautiful and different."
"Thank you Hinata for changing the subject," Sakura winked at her. "Maylee the ladies are right, do you have one that has both? And maybe with chiffon instead of the tulle. It's softer."
"Let me check the racks one moment please."
Not wanting to keep the dress on Ino helped her out by undoing the buttons. "How you doing Forehead?"
"I'm ok right now but you know me."
"Yup that's why I'm asking. If you start getting frustrated let me know I'll make sure you get what you want."
"Thank Pig," Sakura smiled at her best friend.
Once Ino had the dress hung on the 'no' rack right as Maylee came back. "Ok Sakura-san here's one more style. It has the asymmetrical design; it's satin with a lace overlay off the shoulder. It'll draw more attention to your arms rather than bust. Would you like to try it?"
"You should, off shoulders are very beautiful," Shizune commented.
Sakura shrugged, "Why not. I'm still in a happy mood."
Maylee smiled and helped her into the delicate dress. The satin ran straight along her chest no cleavage showing, which was a plus for her. She didn't have it so why try to show something that wasn't there. The satin ran down to her knees while the lace continued into the asymmetrical opening one her legs. The off shoulder look was also in lace with long sleeves and beveled lace across her chest.
"So ladies?"
"Hmmm," Mikoto eyed her closely, "I'm not sure lace it really your look."
Tsunade nodded, "I agree, it's too delicate for you. You wouldn't want to rip it at the party."
Sakura turned back around stretching her arms forward, backward, over her head…there was a definite pull and she could inadvertently rip it. "You're right, sorry Maylee no lace for me."
"That's alright Sakura-san I have another contender right here."
Sakura was very surprised to not see any zippers or button on this next dress. All Maylee did was have Sakura bend over and as she slipped it over her head. Once she stood up the gown fell effortlessly around her body. It was another halter top with a low back that hit a few inches above her rear. She adored the criss-cross pattern the fabric made before coming to the front in the halter style. There was a beaded knot design just under her chest before it flared out delicately around her hips.
"The pleats in the front offer a little different style from the typical try to make you look thinner, only petite women can pull this off well considering the chiffon fabric isn't good at hiding anything. I think you can wear that very well," Maylee smiled brightly.
"I do like it. Mostly I like the feel of the fabric, it's light and airy so I'll stay cool while I dance," Sakura commented performing another twirl, "It's also very twirlly."
"Twirlly is a must for good dancing dresses," Ino giggled with Hinata.
"Mikoto what time is our appointment with the kimono weavers?" Sakura asked.
She checked her watch, "In about an hour."
"Alright ladies it's between this one and the other halter top," Sakura decided. She definitely didn't want to spend all day here and she definitely didn't want to be irritable for the kimono weavers.
Everyone pondered while the other dress was brought out.
"Try that one on again!" Ino demanded.
Sakura slipped in and out of each dress easily.
"Both are easy to get on. A plus from after all the wrappings from the kimono," Mikoto commented.
"They both cover your chest easily," Tenten said earning her a glare from Sakura, "WHAT! I'm just saying for styling purposes your chest is decently covered. Don't get mad at me because you have small boobs."
"I think this one is more flattering. It emphasizes your waist rather than hint at it with the beaded knot one," Mizuko commented.
"And if we're talking accessories it'll be easier to wear a necklace with this one considering it does have a wider neckline. Do you have bridal jewelry yet?" Ino asked.
Sakura shook her head, "I was waiting until I had dresses."
"So Sakura which one do you want?" Tsunade asked.
"I think…" she turned again in the dress admiring the large bow. Then she thought about the other dress and the crossing pattern on the back that was so beautiful; a little low but still beautiful. Maybe the low part wasn't a good idea, she needed a little less risqué appearance considering she was marrying up.
"I'll take this one."
HOLY FABRICS!
Sakura was so happy that she arrived in a good mood because if she didn't she just knew that she would've stormed out of here a good hour ago. This was getting just ridiculous. In all honesty she thought it would be easier trying on dresses rather than all the intricate details of a formal kimono fitting.
This is for Itachi. This is for my wedding. Don't pick something crappy just because you're in a foul mood.
Perfectly said.
But still she was drowning in fabric. There must be over one hundred different types of fabrics in this store and she has looked at ALL of them. So since she hadn't been able to decide on a fabric yet the weavers decided to take all sorts of measurements on her. She was hoping to find a premade kimono that she could purchase but apparently these ladies wouldn't hear of it. The new Uchiha Matriarch was to be given a custom made kimono with all the fixings. All she had to do was pick out the fabric.
…Fabric…
Oh just kill me now!
FOCUS!
"Oh Sakura-san! Have you decided on a fabric yet?" One of the younger apprentices walked up while she was redressing from her measurements.
"No I haven't decided yet," Sakura answered.
"Well if you'd like we had a new shipment come in and they haven't been put on the floor. Would you like to see them?"
She gave a forced smile, "Sure."
The young apprentice quickly walked back into back rooms where the sewing machines and storage areas were. Sakura joined the rest of the women.
"Sakura have you picked a fabric yet?" Tsunade asked getting just as annoyed as Sakura was.
"No, the young apprentice is going into the back to get a new stock that arrived this week."
She nodded, "Good hurry and pick one so we can go eat."
"Hai Tsunade-sama," she answered in a ridiculously mocking tone.
The Hokage twitched her eyebrow but didn't comment.
"Here Sakura-san!" She rolled in a large cart with about twenty fabrics all on large rolls. Obviously it hasn't been used and they all had that new silky smell.
Sakura began sorting through the new fabrics with the same amount enthusiasm as she's had the last few minutes. She just wasn't getting anywhere. Nothing stood out like the dresses had. There was a beautiful blue one with an assortment of flowers that she thought was beautiful. Then there was another red one with golden cranes and red was her color. But it was her wedding and she definitely wanted something white or at least silver. And the white ones that she had seen didn't really speak to her. Nothing jumped out.
Until now.
It was a shocking beautiful white silk fabric. Scattered around were beautiful woven peacocks with long silver and blue tails. Adorned around the intricate birds where soft pink and purple blooming flowers and clouds. It was definitely the most beautiful fabric in the store. And it was new meaning nobody else has a kimono made out of this fabric. Suddenly she felt very possessive of the fabric, Ino would be proud.
"Do we have a winner Sakura?" Mikoto walked up behind her smiling softly, "It is a beautiful piece."
"Yes it is the designs on these peacocks are just beautiful."
"Not to mention it's new meaning you're the first to wear it," Mikoto winked.
Sakura smiled up at her, "I was thinking the same thing."
"This is my gift to you Sakura, this kimono from our clan's personal weavers. I want you happy with what you pick. If this is the fabric then it'll be made from this."
"Oh! I-" Sakura started but she knew Uchihas and what they wanted they got, "Thank you Mikoto-san."
"I thought we were dropping honorifics."
She giggled, "Sorry but I just…this is really nice of you so…"
Mikoto gave her a side hug, "I understand. Atsuko-san we've found the fabric!"
"Oh! Let me see my dear." Sakura handed the fabric to the old lady who walked up. "This is from our new stock. Very beautiful choice and it'll make a fine uchikake for your wedding my dear. Hotaru!"
The young apprentice walked up to the older lady, "Hai obaa-san."
"Sakura-sama has selected this for her wedding uchikake. Save it in the back, nobody else will have a kimono made from it until she is married. Have you selected an obi fabric Sakura-sama?" Atsuko asked.
"No," Sakura answered.
"Bring the fabric over here Hotaru."
The four of them walked over to a large table with small obi strips strewn along like ties on a tie rack.
"We will find a good obi to match and then we'll make one custom for you that will fit your measurements," Atsuko waved her hand at the table indicating for Sakura to start looking.
She and Mikoto walked along the large table occasionally having Hotaru bring the fabric over to compare.
"Here Sakura, this would look beautiful." Mikoto held up a silver obi with large sky blue flowers connected together by vines. The edges of the obi were lined with strips of sky blue ribbon sewn onto the silk by silver thread.
"That's perfect Mikoto," she smiled at her mother-in-law.
The Matriarch nodded, "Atsuko here's her obi."
The older lady nodded collecting the fabric strip, "Come back in a month and we'll have the first fitting."
"Atsuko-san, can I get a soft pink silk lining on the inside of the uchikake?" Sakura asked.
She nodded, "That will not be a problem Sakura-sama. We'll see you in a month."
