Chapter 24
Safety is something that is provided or obtained. Safety is all everyone really wants at times whether it's from the people who want to kill you or just a sense of it so that you may have some peace with yourself. Safety come is so many different forms, a house is considered safe if it has a strong base and is made the right way but we also feel safe with people but not the kind of safe where you won't get harmed physically but the sort of safe where you feel safe mentally. I think both types of safe are important to people and there isn't a day when you want to feel unsafe for both types.
Last time on Was it Fate or Destiny?:
Lucy got on her tippy toes and swung her hands around his neck and started leaning in. Sting was frozen on the spot but his body moved on it's on so his arms were on her waist and he was leaning towards her. In the back ground helicopter choppers were moving towards the pair as they shared a kiss and then pulled away. Sting was in control again and Lucy was on the floor.
"Hey, over here. We're over here." Sting yelled and jumped until the headlights were on them.
He got down and got Lucy in his arms princess style and waited for them to come down and get them. Clearly she was dehydrated and in shock. It all just decided to kick in now.
On the bright side we're safe now and can finally go back home and rest. Thanks for everything Lucy; I'll see you next week. Sting thought
"Sting, I'm leaving with Mira now ok." Laxus called from down stairs as he got out of the house and closed the door behind him.
Sting moved to his clock on his night stand as he looked at the time. It was 10:30 on a Saturday and Laxus was gone with Mira on some date he had been planning since like yesterday. Sting rubbed his eyes as he looked around his room remembering the events that had happened yesterday night. An knowingly his hands moved to his lips as he traced them remembering the kiss he had shared with Lucy regretting the fact that he let her kiss him probably leading her on when not meaning too.
Hopefully she'll forget that that ever happened and I won't have to explain to her what on earth made her do such a thing. Sting thought as he threw off his sheets and made his way to the bathroom.
Down stairs Rouge made his way into Sting's house like he did almost every day and went to eat the food that Laxus must have left for the both of them when he heard a knock on the door. Annoyed and angry he walked over to open it any way after al he hadn't sat down to eat yet so the person at the door had his attention.
"What?" He asked with much hostility not the most morning person in the world
"Is Sting here?" A voice asked from the closed door
Had Rouge been fully awake he would know who the voice belonged to but again he is not much of a morning person. Though his senses were at high alert he didn't open the door just yet without finding out; who the person was and why they were looking for Sting.
"Whose asking?" He asked leaning his ear to the door
"Who are you talking to?" Sting asked from the stairs in nothing but a towel having just gotten out of the bathroom and heard Rouge talking to himself he was a tad bit worried about his friend
Rouge turned around to face him and just let out a yawn before making his way to the kitchen without answering Sting's question. Sting followed him knowing it would take time for his friend to understand what he was asking.
"Someone is asking for you at the door," Rouge spoke sitting down to breakfast "I have no fucking clue who it is."
"You're like incredibly useful bro." Sting sarcastically spoke before leaving the kitchen to the door
The person who had knock was still standing there but getting a little bit inpatient.
"Rouge, are you still there?" They asked
"I'm afraid he went to eat some breakfast." Sting told them while opening the door to see who it was
Sting gave a small smile towards the blonde standing in front of him knowing he was in big shit by the look of his face.
"Look, I have to be in work in the next few minutes so let me in," Rufus said as he entered and closed the door behind him "Thanks for everything you did for Lucy yesterday but I think it would be better if you stayed away from her for a little while. Meaning you can't come to the dinner tonight at our dad's place. Don't ask me why but let's just say that today she woke up and she kinda doesn't want to face you for some odd reason."
Sting just let out a small chuckle. Rufus smiled a little before exiting the house and leaving the two boys to their business whatever it may be. Sting walked into the kitchen and sat down in front of Rouge and began to eat his breakfast.
"Who was at the door?" Rouge asked before taking a sip of his juice
"Oh just Rufus, telling me to stay away from Lucy for a bit." Sting told him
"Why would he be saying that? You practically saved her ass yesterday." Rouge questioned
"It's at Lucy's request." Sting told him
"Why would she request that? She usually can't stay away from you for more than a day."
"I know right! I guess it has to do with the fact that we kissed."
Rouge could have spit out the bit of juice he was drinking at the sound of these words and had Sting all covered in juice and laughed about it but he knew better than to seem surprised. He saw it coming and knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. So he just had his eyes open wide for a second and then his face went back to normal.
"You kissed. Interesting so like how good is she on a scale of one to ten?" Rouge asked
"No comment," Sting said "it was all her by the way. She just started talking really deeply like she was about to die kind deep and I was there like ok cool, you're totally dehydrated and going into shock and then she started talking crap about liking me and then she kissed me and I just stood there like what the fuck is happening."
Rouge nodded and stood up to put his tray away. Sting finished up his breakfast.
"So are we crashing at Loke's today or are you like not up to it?" Rouge asked "I mean I know it's you know that day and stuff."
"I'm up for it. I thought I had plans tonight but not anymore so it can be me and just you guys," Sting confessed "I feel better about it today I guess. I don't really know why."
"Sweet, now get upstairs and change because it's weird and sad." Rouge commanded
"You're just jealous that you can never reach my level." Sting teased getting up to change
{Lucy's house}
"No Levy, it just happened and I have no clue what came over me so now I'm like trying to avoid him as much as possible," Lucy talked in to her phone while she lay on her bed staring up at her ceiling "I bet he thinks I'm weird now and is laughing my action. I really think I messed up and just when he opened up to me."
Levy was listening attentively to her best friend while in her house and Lucy had just called her a few seconds ago the minute she had woken up. Not forgetting what had happened yesterday except for the bit when she fainted and everything went black but she was happy to find herself in her bed the next morning but the happiness wasn't held for long. She just happened to remember all the bullshit she said to Sting right before she kissed him and then fell to the ground.
"Levy, who kisses a guy and then falls to the ground? I'm so stupid" Lucy whined pulling a pillow over her face in embarrassment
"He had no intention of pushing you away right? I mean from what you've told me he just stood there." Levy asked
"Yeah but that was probably because he had no clue what the fuck was wrong with me and he didn't know what to do."
"When has Sting never known what to do?" Levy questioned her getting to her point slowly
"Never." Lucy answered still oblivious to what Levy was trying to say
"So maybe he let you kiss him, you know because he likes you."
Lucy sat up considering it for a while but she didn't cross the fact that he was just shocked and amused at her actions but she let herself have a little hope.
"No, no, no," Lucy repeated more to herself than Levy "I'm so stupid."
"What?" Levy asked confused
Lucy got off her bed and started looking around for thing to wear. She wasn't going to be spending the day in her house like she wanted to after all.
"I told Rufus all about him and asked if he could stop by Sting's house and ask him to stay away from me for a while" Lucy replied putting her phone on speaker and starting to change
"Baka! Come on really." Levy yelled at her
"I know, I know but at that time I wasn't thinking about that fact." Lucy tried to sound less damn
"You can't just show up at his house now," Levy told her "talk about desperate."
"I am desperate." Lucy informed her
"Well you can't let him know that. That just gives him too much power that he already knows he has." Levy said
Lucy stopped putting on her sandals and flopped back onto her bed putting Levy off of speaker, confused and frustrated more than ever now about her Sting situation.
"So what do I do now?" Lucy asked
"Send him a text or wait for him to send a text." Levy advised her
"Yeah but saying what? 'Hey Sting. Thanks for everything and I'm sorry I lied one on you' I would sound so damn"
"You know the book you read last year."
"Which one?"
"I learnt it's never too late."
"Yeah. It was so romantic."
"Well use the line Amelia used when she texted Ben for the first time."
"OMG! That's perfect. I'll send it but how about we meet with the girls at the café."
"I'll text everyone about it."
"Cool. I'll see you later."
Lucy ended the phone call and went back to putting on her sandals. After applying her lip gloss and just a touch of mascara she got her phone and looked for Sting.
Sting! I wld lov to meet up 2morrow so we can talk! :D I had a lot of fun yesterday and srry if I seemed a bit out of it but it was fun even after we feel off a cliff.
Of course the last bit about the cliff wasn't really in the book but she had to relate it to her situation or else it would be weird and stupid. Lucy then walked out of her room and just as she was about to reach the front door her phone vibrated.
What happened to not seeing you for a while? Anyway that doesn't matter cuz I won't be here for the weekend. I'll be chilling somewhere out of town. So I'll see you on Monday.
Her face fell but she just shock it off and put her phone into her bag and opened her door and walk towards her car. She would have drove off right there and meet her friends but she had to pause and text Sting.
Oh, that's cool. I'll see u Monday. Have fun where ever ur going. :D
She threw her phone in the passenger sit with next to her bag and put her key in but before she could start up the car she received a text.
3 It would be way more fun if I was with you 3 3. Maybe I can cancel my plans and we could hangout today and 2morrow 2gether….4ever.
Lucy's heart was racing as she read the text from Sting and she couldn't believe her eyes. Maybe he did like her the way she liked him. All those heart after all have to mean something.
Srry. Rouge took my phone and I was telling him wat to write considering tht I'm drivin but I can't trust him to write a simple sentence so I pulled over and wrote this. The first message was all true though the second one was Rouge playin around. Anyway ttyl and c ya Mon.
To say her heart dropped would be understatement, her heart broke a little because that type of false hope really hits someone hard. Neither less she shock it off and started her car making her way to see her friends.
{In Sting's Car}
"Why the fuck would you do that dude?" Sting yelled at Rouge as he started to pull up on the highway again
Rouge just smirked at him and went to looking out at the scenery before him. Having not once made a trip to Loke's house he wanted to see what type of journey it took to get to the so called rich and powerful Loke's manner.
"Are you gonna answer me or just be a bitch about it?" Sting questioned pissed off
"I was just messing around dude. Chill out." Rouge explained
"It's not funny. Don't raise her hopes up like that," Sting told him "what if she hates me now?"
"You would care about that why?" Rouge asked facing him, intrigued
"I don't want to get into it right now. Cause if I tell you then I have to explain the whole damn thing to Loke as well and I don't want to explain it twice."
Rouge looked at him for a minute studying him but as usual Sting wasn't giving anything away yet. Sure Rouge had known him for a long time but he still couldn't un code him like Loke could. They just had a really special connection Sting and Loke; Rouge would be lying if he didn't feel some sort of envy towards Loke at some point.
"So, how far are we?" Rouge asked after 10 minutes
"Just a couple more miles," Sting informed him "I know where we're going but we might have to stay the night."
"Great!" Rouge cheered sarcastically "Just what I've always wanted."
Sting just shrugged he didn't mind staying the night with Loke; if anything he loved that fact. So he kept driving knowing the road all too well. It's sharp turns, its corners, it's scenery, all stuck in his mind never leaving, always staying. That's what he loved most about going back to the town he once stayed in for some of his life. Nothing changed, it all stayed the same even if the people around it changed, and the town itself wouldn't give in and change with the people so it always gave a sense of home. Sting adored that feeling more than anything, that's right he adored the feeling because it felt like home and he felt safe.
{At the café in the mall}
Lucy sat down joining her friends once she arrived not so long ago. They were already talking and laughing and had ordered her favourite milk shake. It was a different mall and a different café from what Sting and she went to the couple of times they went out together.
"Finally you made it!" Levy said as Lucy got her drink from her
"I'm just like 4 minutes late," Lucy told her smiling "no biggy."
"No biggy is when you go on your first date with a guy and you're the one who goes the kiss first." Cana informed her
"Yeah you of all people; skipped school, went with Sting to who knows where, fell off a cliff and was lost in the woods for more than an hour that helicopters were sent to you." Lisanna counts off of her fingers
"I think what we're trying to say is that we don't really care how late you are, we just wanna know what happened between you and Sting yesterday." Erza said leaning forward towards Lucy while the other girls did the same.
Lucy blushed at what they were saying because it just made her remember everything that happened the day before and some of the events we a bit couple like and she loved the thought of that but of course she knew the meant nothing because Sting was just being Sting. So her face fell at the realization of that.
"What's wrong?" Erza asked
"It's just that you all know I like Sting right." Lucy asked not facing them
They all nodded because they all knew it before she did. It was so obvious the way she wouldn't leave him alone. She was making it pretty obvious with the way she looked at him as well. No one spoke so she could continue.
"Well yesterday, I thought it would be great to see my dad and tell him what I really want to say after all these years so I did and Sting went with me," Lucy explained "He was just so sweet and caring, making sure I was ready and just being there encouraging me and I loved it. Before we saw my dad his was just kinda acting like my boyfriend in a way. I mean he kissed me on the fore head but that was so I wouldn't start crying, then when we sat down he pulled my head on his lap but that was so I would tell him what was wrong. After we saw my dad we went outside for a bit on the balcony they had on the floor and I put my head on his shoulder and he let me but that was because I was happy and calm and so was he."
Lucy let out a small sigh of disappointment because the more she talked the more she realized that no matter how sweet and caring Sting's actions were he made it fairly clear that he wants nothing but friendship from her and she was ok with it but she wasn't ok with it. It didn't make sense but she would rather be his friend than nothing at all. You take what you can get after all.
"You two are just so cute." Lisanna squealed
"So what's so upsetting?" Cana asked
"The fact that he only does that because he's my friend and a friend is supposed to be caring and sweet." Lucy replied laying her head on the table
The other girls looked at her, not quite feeling her pain because everything in their love life was just perfect, what more could they wish for. Levy rubbed circles on Lucy's back while the others looked at her with sympathy.
"What happened after the cliff?" Erza asked curious
Lucy looked up at her and sighed not wanting to lie to them but knowing that she couldn't tell them everything that had happened.
"Um…well, we fell in because he lost his footing when he was looking for his phone. I ran to see what happened and I lost my footing too. He caught me and we let our clothes dry and talked more about my life and my dad and then when the sun started to set we walked to find a place to stay and stuff then I started talking all this crap and I kissed him and he just stood there in shock because he didn't expect me to but the stupid thing is I kissed him and then fell to the ground." Lucy talked really fast but they managed to hear every single word
Cana was trying her best not to laugh but she couldn't help it. Lisanna was giggle too and Erza just drank her hot chocolate containing her laughter best she could. Levy glared at them and Lucy just went back to having her head on the table.
"Guys!" Levy yelled at them
"We're sorry but I've never heard of a kiss and fall, it just doesn't happen." Cana joked as she stopped laughing
"Just make sure you don't kiss and run." Lisanna said eyeing Erza
"It's better than a kiss and faint." Erza commented casually
Now everyone was laughing even Lucy had her head off the table laughing a little because that's what had happened to Lisanna and Erza but it was a long story.
"We're all had weird first kisses," Levy said "heck I kissed and froze."
"What about you Cana?" Lucy asked
"I kissed and made out." Cana replied taking a sip of her coke
"You were drunk." Erza reminded her
"When am I not?" Cana countered
"Right now." Erza said
"Spiked my coke." Cana lied
They just rolled their eyes knowing she was lying. Cana drunk and Cana sober are two completely different things. They all knew and had experienced it many, many times before.
"So how was your Friday?" Lucy pointed the question to them
"We had the karaoke thing." Lisanna said
"I didn't go." Cana said
"She had other business to attend too." Levy informed Lucy
"What type of business?" Lucy asked raising her eyebrow at Cana
"That's confidential but who I was with." Cana told them
They did push any father she would tell them when she could or wanted too, which ever it was they didn't mind. They knew everything about each other already so one small thing is truly nothing.
"So the karaoke thing." Lucy moved on
"Oh right." Levy said
"Lisanna and Natsu totally made out." Erza said
Lisanna gasped and hit Erza lightly on the arm and blushed. Lucy was smiling at her wanting to hear more.
"We kissed because that's what we usually do," Lisanna tried to explain "old habits die hard."
"Whatever you say." Lucy teased
"Well Erza and Jellal left half way through it and when I went to see where they were they were making out." Lisanna announced
"Not that we couldn't hear the moaning from them when the music was turned low." Levy said giggling
Erza blushed a deep read. Everyone looked at her smiling and shocked because this wasn't the type of thing that Erza would be caught doing, in public or private.
"Levy you can't talk," Erza said "you can hide the hickey so Lucy doesn't notice but we know what went down between you and Rouge when you went to get snacks."
Levy had her face down and she touched her neck nervously. Lucy started wide eyed and shocked.
"You dirty little people." Cana said laughing "Who knew you had it in you this whole time."
{At Loke's mansion}
"This is fucking huge." Rouge said as they pulled into the drive way
"You're attracting flies," Sting told him parking and turning to face him "we enter and you do not and I repeat do not talk a word or look at the place like you've never seen or lived in a place like this before. Attack like you live in a place like this but at the same time remember you don't."
"I'll try but dude, that lucky bitch." Rouge said as he got out of the car
Rouge followed Sting to the front entrance of the house emotionless even though he was freacking out on the inside. Sting knocked on the door and a girl opened and smiled.
"Sting-kun!" She squealed and jumped to hug him
"Meredy!" Sting said hugging her back
"I've missed you so much," Meredy said letting go and putting him at arm's length "I'll take you to Loke's place, the master is out visiting the Heartfilia estate."
"Thank goodness." Sting said letting out a sigh of relief
Meredy just smiled, got his hand and led him inside. Rouge sighed not being noticed at all. It wasn't until they climbed the stairs and went all the way to the end of the hall, then made two turns did they reach Loke's room. Meredy knocked at a jingle and Loke opened immediately.
"Sup?" Sting said when he saw Loke standing there
"Sup?" Loke said smiling and letting them in
Rouge entered first just to show that he too was here. Meredy entered next still holding on to Sting's hand.
"Meredy, this is Rouge, a friend of mine." Sting introduced him finally
"Hi! I'm Meredy a servant of this house hold and a close friend of Sting's!" Meredy said introducing herself to Rouge
After that she gave Sting a kiss straight on the lips but it was more of a peck. Rouge started shocked and Loke just smiled and rolled his eyes. There was still so much that Rouge didn't know but that was ok. It's Sting choice after all.
"Welcome home Sting-Kun." Meredy spoke
"I'm glad to be home." Sting told her
Safety want you want even though you don't know it and you don't have to say it, you just have to feel it. Once you have it you never want to lose it. It's just too important to give up but what's really special is when you can leave a place where you are at home which makes you feel safe and come back to it and it still feels the same way.
Last chapter was rushed and not one of my best but I wrote this one and then I was like…opps too long but then I was like screw it. I mean I never managed to update the story for a long ass time so I updated it really long for you in a short period of time so I can hopefully make up for the times when I didn't. I tried to make it long with exciting and different stuff and not long with boring stuff that you won't even finish at all. So I hope you love and please review because I felt terrible with the few reviews I got but thank you to those who have reviewed I really love that you liked it and reviewed. You put a smile on my face. Though I had few reviews I had like a lot of you favoured and followed and I was like :O. I'm actually a good writer say what! Thanks guys I'll shut up now.
