Chapter 28

Confusion - Part 1

Confusion is really confusing. See we always want to have an understanding so we know exactly what's up; no one likes not knowing because being confused makes you feel stupid and slow, no one likes feeling that.

Confusion can come from many different things in a verity of situations. People say that the opposite gender is terrible confusing – but admit it guys are just so complicated – however we also find our own gender confusing at times in terms of what we doadmit it girls you sometimes don't know why on earth you do what you do – that's ok because if we understood everything then the world would be boring.

I'm not talking about opposite gender confusion. I'm talking about self-confusion – I have no idea if that's a really thing or not but it sounds so technical – it's when you as a person is confused with one's self over your actions and emotions because you yourself do not understand why on earth you would do such things.

Last time on; Was it Fate or Destiny:

"You know how I feel." Lucy reminded him

"Yeah, I don't see how I'm teasing you." Sting whispered still moving forward

"This has a kiss written all over it. Its' not like you want to. You're just in the moment." Lucy said so quietly that Sting couldn't hear the first or last sentence

"I don't want to. I for some reason just need too." Sting said and he closed the gap between them connecting his lips with hers

Sting closed his eye shocked by his actions but they felt right to him. Lucy kissed back of course; her eyes closed loving that they were having a nice sweet kiss. She decided to just enjoy the moment, severing every last detail.

Sting couldn't sleep, after the kiss they had walked back in silence and when they reached the dinner was over meaning that Sting had to go back to Loke's place and Lucy didn't even say bye, no she just walked straight towards her doors and closed them behind her without looking at him at all. That wasn't a good sign and Sting just knew that she hated him now.

Loke was sleep in his bed and Meredy was on the couch. Aries had insisted that she go home because she had to sell flowers tomorrow. It wasn't because she and Loke hadn't made up; she just wasn't ready to stay the night in his house knowing that Meredy was going to be in the same room.

Loke and Meredy hadn't said a word to him either ever since he came back with Lucy, or in the car ride, or when they reached Loke's room and got ready to sleep. He knew that they were giving him space but they could at least show that they were curious and notice the look of absolute confusion on his face. He wanted them to ask him what had happened so they could figure it out together.

He had kissed her and he didn't mind it but he knew that it wasn't in the moment like Lucy thought; he knew that he wanted to kiss her but he didn't know why he wanted to kiss her. He didn't regret it though it was her fault for looking beautiful and coming all the way to a gave yard to comfort him and that was what he had made himself to believe but even with that conclusion he couldn't sleep.

"Meredy," Sting said in the darkness from his spot on the floor next to Meredy's couch bed "Loke!"

No reply came his way. Just as he thought they were dead asleep. He sat up from where he was supposed to be sleep and looked around the room. It wasn't complete darkness; the balcony door gave off a moonlight glow that was bright enough for Sting to just see the shapes of objects.

"Loke," He tried again "Meredy!"

Some thing again, neither of them replied of moved a muscle. He knew he could just get up and shake them unless he wanted to have a foot mark on his chest and a punch mark on his check. Knowing that they weren't going to wake up anytime soon he got up. Grabbing his phone and moving to the balcony making sure not to make much noise that would awake Meredy's senses and think he was an attacker or assassin wanting to kill Loke.

"Sting?" said the voice from the other line

"Hey." Sting said back

"It's 3 in the morning Sting," She said "Why are you calling at this time?"

"The sun's about to rise," Sting replied "Have you ever seen a sunrise?"

"Yes I have," She answered "Why is that relevant to why you called?"

"Well clearly you weren't sleeping either," Sting said "Considering that you answered straight away."

"I wanted to watch the sun rise." She lied

"Yeah, that might be true," Sting considered it but he knew her better "Then again you could be up because you can't get your mind off the kiss."

Sting wasn't used to being blunt about things; he liked beating around the bush a little for things like this. He didn't mean to just go ahead and say it out like that but it was too late he couldn't take it back.

"Apparently either can you." Lucy said back

"That's true," Sting agreed "I guess that's why I called. I want to apologize but just know that it wasn't in the moment. I wanted to kiss you but I don't know why."

"It's cool," Lucy said not believing him at all "I guess we're even you know with when I kissed you before fainting."

They laughed a little at that but even through the phone they could just feel the tension of awkwardness growing slowly.

"We're good right? I mean we're still friends?" Sting asked running his hands through his hair

"Totally good, why would we stop being friends?" Lucy said willing her voice not to crack

"Right, that was stupid of me." Sting said chuckling smiling wide at the thought

"We should probably get some sleep." Lucy said in a whisper

"You know the suns rising in about 30 minutes," Sting said "Have you ever seen a sunset?"

"Of course I have," Lucy replied "Sting I got to go and sleep till noon."

"Sure, I'll see you on Monday." He said hanging up

It wasn't that he felt awkward about the call. It wasn't that he felt sad that she had to go so soon but he did feel some sort of regret but he couldn't place why he would regret sorting things out with her. She understood there was no problem with their friendship now. He knew that and yet he felt like something was terribly wrong like he shouldn't have said what he said. Ignoring the feeling he walked back inside to find the Meredy and Loke were awake now and looking at him with wonder.

"Now you decide to wake up." Sting said rolling his eyes at their timing as he made it towards his floor bed

"We thought we could watch the sun rise together before you leave." Meredy said standing up and stretching

"It's not too late. We could go to the spot." Loke suggested grabbing a pair of shoes

"I'm kinda tired." Sting said pulling the covers over his body and getting comfortable

"It's no longer a suggestion Sting," Meredy told him "It's an order."

Sting looked at her from his spot on the floor and knew that she probably had a weapon somewhere close by that she could hurt him with if he didn't get up. Loke brought over a pair of shoes and a shirt for him knowing as well that they were going whether they liked it or not.

"Who's driving?" Sting asked pulling on the white shirt

Meredy smiled holding up the car keys dangling from her pointer finger. Loke and Sting froze because Meredy wasn't the safest driver and that was because she went through a phase of wanting to be a racer.

"Maybe I should drive." Loke suggested making a move for the keys

"I like that idea." Sting agreed putting on the shoes

"Over my dead body." Meredy said running towards the door

Loke and Sting shared a look and just sighed in defeat, even they couldn't get Meredy to listen to them half the time. She was a wild card who had emotions all over the place but they loved her like a sister.

{At the Spot}

The took Loke's convertible much to Loke's begging and whining because he knew that his car wasn't going to make it back without a scratch if Meredy was driving but of course Meredy didn't care much of his whining and drove it. Sting had sat in the front while Loke was in the back trying to tell Meredy to be careful and not harm one of his prised possessions.

Now they were on top of the hill where they'd been so many times when Sting came to visit years before. Sitting on the front of the car they watched the sun raise enjoying its first rays as they hit their bodies warming them up. It was moments like this that made Sting, Loke and Meredy forget the world around them was there and all the shit in their lives was stupid. It was moments like this that they never forgot.

"I could go for some beer." Loke said getting off the front and looking inside his car for some

"I cleaned it all out," Meredy told him "Aries wouldn't like you to drink and either would I."

"Says the girl who got him started in the first place," Sting reminded her "It's kind of your fault his like that."

"You were there too." Meredy said huffing and looking away from Sting

There was a moment of comfortable silence as without saying or cue the three of them moved to sit on the grass facing each other in a small circle. It was as if this movement was part of their daily life. No questions asked it just happened, to a pass byer it would have seemed weird that no words were said as they did this. It was their connection that helped with something likes this, as if they knew what one another were thinking.

"I love moments like this." Sting said leaning against his arms that were behind his back

"It's just us, no one else," Meredy said looking at her favourite people in the world and smiling "I wish it was like this forever."

"Don't you start crying," Sting told her and Loke laughed a little bringing his hand to rub circles on her back "Let the moment last."

Meredy nodded cursing herself for getting emotion when it wasn't the time to but she couldn't help it. She hated that Sting couldn't stay with them and could only visit a few times a year for 3 day only. She hated that but she understood that he had family and he couldn't worry them however he was worrying her.

"Who were you talking to on the phone?" Meredy asked

"Lucy." Sting replied

"Why?" Loke asked not seeing as to why he would call Lucy at 3 in the morning

"I had to apologise for kissing her." Sting told them having no secrets for them as always

Meredy and Loke faced each other. Not knowing how to react to the news. Sting has of course kissed girls before and what not but Lucy was different. The girls Sting had kissed had thrown themselves at him so they usually kissed him but he never kissed back or let it last. So hearing that he was the one to make a move and kiss Lucy was a shocker but they both knew that it was progress.

"So you kissed her." Loke said

"Yeah, I don't know why but it felt right in a way." Sting admitted quietly growing shy and embarrassed

"You like her." Loke said bluntly knowing that Sting would deny it but it had to be said

"Of course I like her. We're friends." Sting told him like he was stupid

"He means in a romantic way." Meredy informed him rolling her eyes at his stupidity

"I can't," Sting told them "liking her is just something I can't do. Liking anyone in the romantic way is something I can't do."

Meredy moved closer to Sting and pulled him into a hug as tears fell from his eyes. She knew what he meant but she wished he would stop saying that. It was confusing how someone with such a big heart could close it off to something that could make him happy.

Loke sighed almost regretting what he had said but Sting needed to hear it out loud. As he watched Sting's tears fall as he hugged Meredy as if she was his life line he heard Sting's phone ring. Being the snoopy friend he was he got up and answered it.

"Sting's phone." He said

"Loke?" Lucy's voice came

"The one and only," He confirmed for her "What can I do for you?"

"I would prefer saying it to him." Lucy said sounding nervous

"He would come to the phone if he could," Loke told her "for now he is a bit occupied."

"Then can you tell him that," Lucy started taking a deep breath "I can't talk to him for a while, tell him that I need space for a bit to think because I'm confused."

"Confused about what?" Loke asked

"That's one thing I can't tell you or him." Lucy told him

"Why are you doing this?" Loke asked

"I just don't think that I can trust him," Lucy confessed "I've done some research and-"

She didn't finish her sentence because the line went dead. Loke had hanged up and was pissed at her. She couldn't just start saying she didn't want to talk to him just because she had done some research. What type of person researches their friends? Who in their right mind would do that? He was also pissed with the fact that Sting had trusted her with something that he didn't trust to with just anyone and she goes ahead to say that she doesn't trust him.

"Who was it?" Sting asked

"Laxus," Loke lied "He forgot you made a trip here."

"I don't think I told him." Sting said

"Well no wonder he called," Meredy said "You never tell anyone where you go. You always leave them to worry."

"Not my fault." Sting said

"Most likely your fault." Meredy told him

Loke smiled. This is what Sting needed. He needed to be around people who loved and took care of him. He needed to be around people who trusted him and him them. Around people who wouldn't turn their back when things got too heavy for them to handle.

Sting's doesn't really need Lucy. He can find a girl here and be happy. Lucy doesn't deserve his heart one bit. Loke thought as he joined his 'family' on the grass

It was just them and the world like old times and Loke couldn't be happier.

Confusion can lead people to do crazy things. It's how we handle what has been done that helps us out of it. People can help you come to understanding but you must also learn to help yourself.

Late to update I think and I'm sorry truly. However I hoped you liked this chapter and like the progression. It felt like the story would come to a close if Sting fell for Lucy and they got together and stuff so I decided to add in a little plot twist because it's to obvious if they got together and the story carried on it would be too predictable and I hate predictable stories., where you can tell what the charater is thinking and what they're going to do. I liked having people think that Sting just wasn't interested because it made you kind of pay attention to him and how he acts and talks.

AnywayI bet most of you thought Meredy would be it but surprised Loke is it. Who knows what Lucy found out about Sting and why she doesn't trust him anymore? I decided to make this Confusion – Part 1becasue I'll make another Confusion from Lucy's sided seeing as this all Sting and Loke and Meredy time. Giving them the spot light for once. I might have trouble updating again….school starts soon and I'm also writing my own story because I love writtng and the idea for my own personal story just keep coming none stop, it's one of the reasons I couldn't update fast enough. I lost inspiration for this story for a while too and I didn't know where I wanted it to go anymore but now I'm back on track thankfully.

Please continue to Review because I care about what you think of my story more than you know. Keep following and favoring.
