Chapter 30
Acceptance
Sometimes as humans we have a hard time accepting things we want to change yet we usually do nothing about it. Instead we let the thing we can't accept stay the same way and it kills us but we don't have the guts to change it. Then we also accept things too easily when we don't have the strength to fight for something better. They sound almost like the same thing and that's probably because they are the same, just different for the two people in the situation. You always have that one person who won't accept what's happening but they won't do anything about it either. Then you have the other person who's just going to let everything be. That is how arguments go on forever.
Last time on; Was it Fate or Destiny?:
"Fuck you Sting." Lucy screamed as she threw her phone at the wall in rage
It wasn't fair that he was so calm while she didn't get her emotions that were all over the place but then again this was what she wanted and she got what she wanted.
"I wanted this and yet, I'm not happy about any of it." Lucy said bringing her hand to her face, finally noticing the tears that were falling
Lucy whipped them away and realised then that she was not in control of her emotions, her heart, her mind or even her body. She felt like a puppet on strings being controlled without even knowing it. Then again who doesn't feel like that sometimes with they've made a mistake that they know they're going to regret.
Lucy got out of the house and waved at Natsu as he stood by the gate, texting someone on his phone. He didn't even look up once as she neared him.
"Nice, to see you too." Lucy said opening her gate. It had felt like forever since she walked to school with Natsu but on this Monday morning she was happy that things were sort of going back to normal.
"Hey, we should probably hurry." Natsu said putting his phone away to give Lucy his usually smile.
Lucy nodded and they made their way to school. They talked and laughed like they always do and nothing was weird or awkward between them. Then Lucy saw Sting's car. She wanted to look away not ready to face him but her eyes stayed glued to it. She wasn't paying attention to what Natsu was saying anymore. She waited for Sting to exit the car.
"Are you even listening?" Natsu asked waving his hand in front of her. Getting no reply he just huffed and went back to his phone, going back to texting the only girl that seemed to run through his mind these days.
Lucy watched Sting's car as it stopped in the parking lot, the hood of the car was up for the first time and that intrigued her. Knowing Sting, he liked having the wind blowing through because then it felt like flying. She smiled at that memory and for a second she forgot she wasn't talking to him. The driver's door opened but no one got out, then the passenger side door opened and out came Rogue running towards Levy and pulling her into a hug before giving her a sweet kiss right on the lips. Lucy smiled at the happy couple before bring her attention back to the driver's door. A foot came out, then the other joined and after what seemed like forever to Lucy she saw a bit of blonde hair and finally, he stepped out closing the door behind him.
Lucy's heart broke a little; it wasn't Sting but his brother. She looked around hoping to catch some blonde hair anywhere. It didn't make sense that she was looking for him, she told him over the weekend that she wanted him to stay away from her for some time and yet here she was, needing to see him. Wanting to see him and she had no clue why. She had no clue what she was doing even when she found herself calling out Laxus' name and running towards him she still didn't know what she was doing.
"Where's Sting?" She asked, hoping that he had an answer of any kind that could ease her uneasy heart beat that was filled with worry and confusion.
"He's still at Loke's place." Laxus told her walking towards the school doors clearly not wanting to get into it now.
Lucy watched him go finally in control of her body though her emotions weren't in check, at least not yet. She shrugged it off, maybe he just wanted more time with Meredy and Loke, though at the thought of Sting spending any more time with Meredy made her heart cringe.
From where Levy and Rogue were, Rogue watched her movements and facial expression; he too had no clue why Sting wasn't back yet. All he knew was he didn't feel like coming back and it was undecided when he would, if he ever comes back.
"Lu-chan!" Levy said dragging Rogue with her as she approached the blonde having not seen or heard from her since Saturday.
"Levy, hey." Lucy gave a non-enthusiastic reply to her greeting but Levy shrugged it off think that her friend was just tired.
"So how was the weekend?" Levy asked wanting to know what had happened between her and her father.
Lucy wanted to say that the weekend was fine, it was fun, Rufus is engaged and the wedding isn't that far off because her dad was going to be paying for everything. In fact the wedding was this weekend and she had invitations for only 5 people because Rufus and Yuniko's friends, parents, grandparents and sisters and brothers were going to be there. She wanted to share the good news with Levy but she couldn't say what she wanted. So instead she turned to Rogue with pleading eyes.
"Why isn't Sting back?" She asked hating the pain the filled her voice, hating the fact that all she could think about was Sting.
"He's with Loke and stuff." Rogue answered looking anywhere but at her, no instead he was looking at his phone just receiving a text from the said blonde.
"When is he coming back?" Lucy asked, looking at Rogue's phone and seeing Sting's name.
"Hold that thought." Rogue told her as he called Sting at his request.
Rogue walked away from the two girls trying his best to ignore the eyes Lucy was giving him. He was clueless to what was going on between the two and he knew he was though the really thing that pissed him off was that Loke probably knew what was happening before him.
"You've got a lot of explaining to do Sting." Rogue said the minute he heard Sting pick up the phone
"I'll explain everything later." Sting said sounding worn out.
"What's wrong?" Rogue asked, clearly sensing Sting's depression was it.
"What isn't wrong?" Sting asked back yelling a little
"Calm down, where are Loke and Meredy?"
"Getting dressed for school, I have to go to school with a bunch of posh retards."
"Then why didn't you come back?"
"She's back there."
"Who?"
"Who do you think?"
Rogue didn't have time to think let alone answer his question because the phone was taken out of his hands. It was taken out of his hands by Lucy and he was pretty sure that Sting didn't want to talk to anyone.
"Sting! You listen to me." Lucy begun taking slow easy breathes, she really had no clue what she was doing or what she was going to say but so far her body and mind were doing their own thing so she would just go with it.
"I'm waiting." Sting said
Lucy just stood there, her mouth open but nothing coming out. She was in control again but when she least needed it.
"I miss you." She found herself saying and meaning it.
"Aren't you full of complete bullshit?" Sting said it sounded like a question but she knew it was a statement.
"I'm not bullshiting you. I overreacted." Lucy was trying to reason with him.
Levy and Rogue shared a look of confusion before returning to what was unfolding in front of them. They could tell what Sting was saying because of how Lucy was replying.
"No Lucy, you just don't get it." Sting said letting out a sigh of she thought it was frustration but it was actually disappointment
"I made a mistake, I shouldn't have judged you too fast." Lucy went on not getting it.
"Lucy, this was your decision. I'm going to respect your decision and I think you should accept it yourself." Sting got the final word because after that, the line went dead.
Lucy just stood there looking at the ground as the tears fell and she made no move to stop them. Sting was right, it was her choice but she didn't mean too, she was just scared. She was scared of how he made her feel, how in the shot span of days they became close. She was scared on how he was able to open up to her. She touched her lips remembering the kiss they had shared, it made her feel so special the way he brought her too him, the words he said. Here she was now, regretting everything because in the short time they had known each other it felt like a lifetime. It was too late to back out, her heart was already taken with him, her body, her mind and her everything had fallen for the blonde that now didn't hold a bit of emotion for her other than hate. She knew this but she didn't accept it, though she couldn't do anything about it.
"Lu-chan," Levy spoke stepping closer to her "what happened?"
Lucy looked up at her best friend and she handed Rogue his phone back. She tried to smile but it made her cry more. So she just fell to the ground and let herself cry over the loss of Sting. Levy got down and brought her close but it didn't feel the same. It only made Lucy want Sting more and it only made her cry harder for the blonde.
"He hates me." Lucy said through the tears
"Sting doesn't hate people, not anymore at least." Rogue said putting his phone away deciding to talk to Sting another time
"Yes he does. Why wouldn't he? I'm a terrible person. Sting's been there for me and I've been nothing but trouble for him." Lucy went on, ignoring Rogue's remark
"What on earth happened between you and Sting?" Levy asked looking from Rogue to Lucy and then back to Rogue sending him glares.
Rogue shrugged and quickly turned to the school doors, not wanting to explain anything to his girlfriend that Sting would have explained otherwise.
"You know what makes this worse?" Lucy asked Levy
"What?" Levy replied wanting to know
"I love him Levy, I'm completely and utterly in love with Sting." Lucy told her
Levy wanted to smile at her friend's declaration but the fact that she was crying over a lost love just made her heart pain a little. Love was supposed to be beautiful but all Lucy was experiencing was anything but beauty. Though Levy let her cry about it, she had no reason to stop her because she didn't know the whole story.
~ With Sting ~
Sting threw his phone on the bed and started pacing. He couldn't let her and he wouldn't let her get to him. He wasn't going to forgive the easily. She had broken his trust that was something he didn't give out so easily yet he had done it with her. Letting out a groan that could be heard from where Loke and Meredy were, Sting sat down, trying to organise his thoughts. Closing his eyes trying to clear his mind he saw her and her smile and he found himself smiling. Then he opened his eyes, remembering that he was supposed to keep from thinking of her.
"You ok?" Meredy asked walking out dressed and ready for school.
"I tried calling Rogue to explain everything in detail but then Lucy got his phone and started talking to me." Sting explained looking at Meredy for help to understand what he was going through
"What did the bitch say?" Loke asked
"She said that she missed me." Sting replied not liking what Loke had called her but he was entitled to his own opinion of her
Loke sighed and walked over to Sting knowing that he was probably confused. Meredy did the same and they both sat down at his side ready to face the fact that he couldn't stay with them forever.
"Do you miss her?" Meredy asked rubbing his hand
"I miss what could have been." Sting replied leaning on her shoulder
"What do you mean?" Loke asked
"I kissed her at my mum's grave, it felt right." Sting told them
"How right did it feel?" Meredy asked smiling a little
"It made me smile and I forgot about my troubles." Sting confessed something he didn't want to admit
"What do you want to do?" Loke asked sharing a sad look with Meredy hoping the answer isn't what they think it will be
"I want to forget, I want to forget that she made me feel that way," Sting told them in a sad way not really meaning it "I miss what could have been but I don't know what could have been, maybe this is for the better and besides she wants this so I'm accepting it."
Meredy and Loke wanted to speak up, tell him he was wrong that he should just admit that he likes her in a way and go fight for her but they couldn't push Sting. They weren't going to either; he was old enough to make decisions for himself anyway. That much was clear.
Has it been forever? Yes and I'm super sorry but School and Life is busy, heck I don't even have time to do homework because I've got so much after school shiz. Today is a special day though and no it's not my birthday but it's someone else's birthday. This was all written like 10 minutes or so ago because I just got sudden inspiration and the words started writing. I hope you like this little problemo they have.
Review if you can and if you want, you know it really motivates me when you review and I will try and get the next chapter to you soon. Inspiration is still flowing!
