This is the last chapter and then an epilogue I think pals, may do a one-shot with our guys in the future because I just really enjoy having them being together and winding each other up, but who knows! Hope you enjoy.

Trunks looked at his bloody knuckles with all the confusion of a man waking up with a hangover next to someone he doesn't know. His father stood holding his nose, which seemed to be bleeding profusely, not taking his eyes off Trunks who stood frozen looking at what he'd done. He wasn't sorry, in fact he almost didn't feel like that was payment enough, but he had begun wondering how long it would take him to wish he hadn't just done that.

Before the two of them had a chance to bring the house down around them, Trunks remembered his situation and ran for the front door. He didn't know whether his father was calling him back or whether the lust for fighting he knew was in his nature was inventing that for him, but overriding that desire was his one to catch up with Goten.

Trunks ran out into the yard and down the long drive of his family home, gravel crunching under his feet. He thought about looking for Goten's energy signature but was pretty sure it'd be pointless, Trunks was willing to bet a limb it'd be supressed. 'No chance he'd let me off that easy' he thought to himself.

He reached the end of the drive, stopping next to one of the ornate stone pillars that stood sentinel at the gate, deciding he'd be fool not to at least try looking for Goten the fast way. Trunks stood for a second closing his eyes, allowing the calm he'd honed all his life to cut through the adrenaline still coursing through him from the incident with his dad. Trunks frowned, 'that can't be right' he muttered to himself. He scrunched up his face and tried again. He opened his eyes, squinting through the hedges that lined the driveway, he couldn't see anything, 'it's possible that the stress of it all has addled my brain', he figured sarcastically. He left through the gate and turned the corner, only to find Goten loitering around it, facing away and kicking at the floor. Goten appeared to be steeling himself for something, taking deep breaths. Trunks smirked.

Trunks grasped him by the arm and spun him around, ducking the reflexive right hook that came straight for his face as he did so. Goten looked at his friend in shock, his fist still raised. Trunks look at him, wide eyed as Goten let out a relieved laugh.

'Trunks! Jesus Christ man don't do that I nearly took your fucking head off.'

'Yeah I noticed, maybe check who it is before you just come out swinging?'

'Sorry, I'm a bit stressed' Goten retorted sarcastically.

Trunks smirked, 'Yeah? Why are you loitering?'

Goten looked both embarrassed and childishly defiant, 'wanted to think. Free country.'

'Of course.' Trunks tried not to smile, he knew he shouldn't be trying to provoke Goten but well, old habits.

Goten had become interested in kicking at the floor again and Trunks decided he couldn't help it.

'Kinda felt like you were gonna kiss me back there buddy.' Trunks said, as innocently as he could.

Goten turned a fluorescent shade of beetroot. 'Kiss you?' he stuttered in a higher voice than normal, 'have you been taking crazy pills? We don't kiss. Now. Or whatever. We're not…' He fumbled for what he felt was an appropriate word, '…kissers.'

Trunks raised an eyebrow. Goten seemed to feel like he'd made it worse.

'Not that y'know, we haven't kissed. Or that like, I wouldn't want to kiss. It's more a question of timing and what could go wrong when you think about kissers, you know what I mean? I mean people who wear pants and other things like you do have a certain appeal when it comes to potential kissers, kissees if you will.'

Trunks laughed, 'You know no one calls people who kiss kissers, right? You know that? Only I think your brain may have gone on some kind of… trip. That's literally the only explanation for what is happening right now.'

'Some people probably-'

Trunks decided it was kinder if he put his friend out of his misery, 'Goten, stop, please, it's fine. I don't mind that you were going to kiss me.'

Goten looked outraged. 'I wasn't going to kiss you!'

'Well whatever, I'll have to kiss you since you're being such a pussy about it.'

With that he took a step forward and pressed his warm lips against Goten's, who stood wide eyed and unsure for a second, before Trunks put a hand to his lower back, pulling him in firmly. This seemed to cause an automatic 'fuck it' reaction to kick in and Goten responded enthusiastically, almost too much so and Trunks couldn't help but chuckle. Goten pulled back and looked at him, unsure of what to say.

Trunks decided he'd be the one to break the silence, 'You are just the most beautiful thing in the world to me.' He said, looking straight into Goten's eyes and planting a soft kiss on his lips.

Goten smiled. 'I'd love to be that poetic, but those suit pants. You're killing me, man. Stop looking hot like 150% of the time and maybe I wouldn't throw myself at you inappropriately and then babble incoherently. You can't just go around doing that to a person.'

Trunks laughed out loud. 'Why would I want you to not do that? Then we wouldn't be 'kissers.' And I wouldn't get to hear about how hot you think I am. This is all working out pretty great for me.'

Goten kicked him in the shin.

'Firstly, ow. Secondly, you admit that you tried to kiss me earlier yes? Thirdly, would you like to walk with me, Son Goten? When my shin heals up. I've just punched my father in the face so I should probably not go home for a bit.' He paused, considering, 'I think perhaps we are too quick to punch, y'know as a people? You legitimately nearly took my head off my shoulders before. And need I remind you of the time you set Gohan on me.'

Goten wasn't sure where to begin with any of that so he just followed Trunks' lead as he took his hand down the street, limping slightly.

They sat side by side on a bench in the park. Goten began to wonder why he had agreed to this, all he wanted to do was scoot sideways with force and tackle Trunks to the ground so they could make out heavily. He supposed being in public forced him to be civilised which was probably for the best, he felt like he'd given Trunks more than enough ground for one day.

Trunks spoke first with the air of someone who knew they were stepping on eggshells, 'So you have a high approval rating with my dad now, anyway.'

Trunks chanced a sideways glance, in time to see Goten's eyes widen in a moment of what Trunks knew all too well was about to be rage, Trunks hastily cut him off.

'I know what you're thinking; that I'm only here now my dad approves.'

Goten folded his arms and gave Trunks a challenging 'you better prove me wrong' look, but still didn't speak. Trunks hurried on.

'I chased you down as soon as I knew you were still into me. Today was the first day I've been 100% confident that you might still want me. I didn't want to go bull in a China shop and fuck it up when we were getting on so well even just as friends. I'd have gone on like that forever and just died a little inside when you brought some other hot guy home.' Goten laughed and squeezed Trunks hand at that point.

Trunks sighed, 'Goten, whether my dad approves or not I've always been in the trying to win you back game. I should never have let any of that shit bother me, I was such a fucking idiot. If you'd give me another chance, I promise you I'll climb mountains just to shout off them that we're together, I'll release a statement to the press, I'll get it tattooed on my fucking head.'

Goten's expression softened completely and he laughed, 'Not your beautiful head.'

Trunks conceded a smile before his face turned solemn again.

'I'm serious Goten, I'll do whatever you need to see for you to be okay with it.'

Goten sighed and looked at Trunks thoughtfully. He'd been beating himself up ever since too.

'No man, I was an idiot too. I never saw it from your side, my family were okay with it and selfishly that was enough for me. I let it become this thing between us when we should have been united against it. I was a bum. It took me the longest time to realise it. '

Trunks sat thinking this over. 'Well maybe that's partly true, but I still shouldn't have lied to you, we probably would have been okay if not for that.'

'Granted, you shouldn't have, but I know you were just burying your head. You probably thought you were saving me from something, as per usual.'

Trunks laughed, 'Yeah something like that.'

Goten looked at Trunk seriously, 'So does this mean I don't have to feel guilty about us kissing? I had this image of your mum and dad falling out again and with everything that's happening I just couldn't bear the idea of causing her any more pain.'

'I think we're in the clear. Besides you've never been the source of any pain for her man, she lights up when she's with you. The other day she peed laughing just telling me what you two had been doing. Besides, she's doing much better. '

'Yeah I know.'

'Also, thanks for being cool with my dad. I know it's hard to forgive him, I still haven't, but I appreciate that you never let it get in the way.'

Goten smiled, 'I love you, and I love them, that's why I do it. I couldn't sit back and let any of you struggle.'

Trunks looked at his knees, abashed. 'I love you too, and so do they.'

'I know.' Goten smiled.

'I sometimes wondered,' Goten continued thoughtfully, 'if it was all some weird test your dad was putting us through; like some bizarre pride-based Saiyan thing that a normal person would never understand or subject anyone else to. I guess he kind of was.'

Trunks looked out across the park thoughtfully, 'I guess so. I wish he wouldn't.'

They looked at each other for a second, basking in the warmth of resolution.

'So, do you want to do this for real, for ever and ever or what?'' Trunks asked after a moment.

Goten smiled. 'You know it buddy.'

'I haven't really worked the kinks of this out, but maybe you could stay with us for a while, a couple of days a week or whatever. You're there most days anyway, will you do it?'

'If you talk to your mum about it first, yeah I'll do it.' Goten thought for a second, 'But no funny business mister.'

Trunks held his hands up and smirked, 'no, sir.' They got up and started to head home, 'We've established it was you who was trying to put the moves on me earlier though, right?'

Goten looked at him, 'you get a 5 second head start Briefs, and then I'm taking you down.'

Trunks laughed and burst into a run, with Goten close behind.

End.
