Okay so my aim is to finish a chapter every week or possibly more. I know I have done a couple over the past like 4 days, but I just felt like it. This chapter is about when Nat has to leave Clint to go to see Stark and Hawkeye has to go and investigate a hammer. This is set immediately (well four hours) after the previous chapter :)

I woke up at 4 o'clock. That meant I only had 4 hours of sleep, which was my usual time. If I was having nightmares then it was considerably less hours. I looked up to see Clint staring directly as me as I lay there practically on top of him. This is REALLY like when we first met. This and back then are the only times that this has happened.

I rested my chin on his chest and asked "What?"

He looked at me so peacefully and replied "Nothing." I wondered what had gotten him so dazed and I guessed that I must have interrupted a deep thought.

I started to get up, but he pulled me back down to hold me in his arms again. "Five more minutes, it is too cold outside." he moaned.

"Clint, I need to go and see Fury and you need to go back to your room to get ready for a hammer" I argued.

"Yes" he agreed "but that can wait a while. I don't want to crawl through the vents just yet and you are like my own little hot water bottle."

I pushed my hands on his chest to look him directly in the eyes. "You do not own me" I stated, but I lay back against him regardless whilst adding "And I am not little." His laughter vibrated through his chest into my head. I loved the sound of his laugh.

We just sat there in silence and listened to each others breathing patterns until my alarm clock broke our comfortable silence at 5am. I don't know why I set it really, because I never actually use it. If you are an assassin you learn to sleep light.

I rolled out of the bed and he groaned from the loss of heat. I walked over to my wardrobe and got out some sweats whilst Clint lay in my bed, because I was not going to stretch in front of him in my pants that is for sure. He would probably get a bit over excited.

After stretching for 5 minutes, I sat down next to him on the bed. I didn't realise it before, but he had fallen back asleep.

I grabbed his shoulders and shook him lightly. "Clint" I said. He slowly opened his eyes and smiled. Stupid beautiful smile.

"You need to go and get ready for your mission."

"Right." he said and got up to pull a chair underneath the vent in the ceiling.

I watched him as he moved around my room completely topless and I don't think that he was fully awake yet to realise, but I wasn't complaining.

As he put one foot on the chair, he came to the realisation that he didn't have a shirt on, turned around to me and asked me for a S.H.I.E.L.D jumper. I felt disappointed, but I didn't want to think about why I was.

After giving the jumper to him, he climbed into the vent, said "Please don't get crushed by any buildings again. I do not want Hill as my sparring partner." and went, or crawled, back to his room.

After he had gone, my mind went back to my mission. Stark.

I put on my catsuit, attached my guns to my thigh straps and headed out to see Fury. I came to his office where I knocked on his door and he gestured for me to come in.

He was sitting at his desk and I wondered whether he lived here on a permanent basis.

"Agent Romanoff" he greeted me, signalling no emotions at all. He is like a male version of me sometimes I thought.

"Director Fury" I replied.

"We tracked Stark this morning and he is currently sleeping at Randy's Doughnuts in Los Angeles. We are going to have to talk to him there"

"I'm sorry Sir, but I don't understand. They don't have rooms to sleep in."

"He is sleeping in the doughnut outside the shop Agent" he said with a serious expression plastered on his face and I found it difficult to keep myself from smirking.

"Do we continue with the plan, Sir?" I asked.

Yes, I speak to him more about the Avengers Initiative, you give him the medication for temporarily stopping his blood toxicity levels, prove that we know him by you talking about the saftey protocols for his suit, like we discussed yesterday, and I shall give him the suggestion that a new element can be made. I will also talk about his father and how he was a founder of S.H.I.E.L.D."

I knew Fury didn't want to just give him the element, because we need to see him finding his own way through life, but still see what it is like to be under someone else's control. IF the Avengers Initiative goes well then S.H.I.E.L.D may need to control the heroes one day. I don't mind being ordered around, but I can see that Stark might be a problem.

"We are leaving." He commanded and rose out of his chair.

"When?"

"Now"

When we arrived at the location, Stark was eating doughnuts, in a doughnut, at Randy's doughnuts.

I slipped round the back of the store, but not before hearing Fury say to Stark "Sir! I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the doughnut."

I went through the back door and prepared his lithium dioxide injection. The staff had been told about the situation earlier that morning and knew fully well that S.H.I.E.L.D would silence them if they breathed a word of this to the press.

I listened to the whole thing on comms waiting for my cue.

"I told you, I don't wanna join you super-secret boy band."

"No, no, no. See, I remember, you do everything yourself. How's that working out for you?"

"It's...it's...it's" Tony Stark was stumbling over his words. Really? Okay, there is something wrong with him.

"I'm sorry. I don't wanna get off on the wrong foot. Do I look at the patch or the eye?" Okay, he is now back to his normal self.

"Honestly, I'm a bit hung over. I'm not sure if you're real or if I'm having..."

"I am very real, I'm the realest person you're ever gonna meet." That was my cue. I pushed the back doors open and located where they were siting.

"Just my luck. Where's the staff here?"

"That's not looking so good." Fury said.

"I've been worse." Stark said as I was just about to reach their table.

"We've secured the perimeter, but I don't think we should hold it for too much longer." I said.

"You're fired." he said hesitantly.

"That's not up to you" I replied, happy inside to see Stark speechless.

"Tony, I want you to meet Agent Romanoff."

After Fury spoke with Tony about Colonel Rhodes, I got to inject him with a very sharp needle containing lithium dioxide. I enjoyed it more than I should have.

Later that evening, I was listening in on the comms on the helicarrier, observing Stark's behaviour, that would be put into a case study that may or may not recommend him for the Avengers Initiative. They were just discussing his arc reactor, his father and about believing in himself. I decided to listen into the last pieces of a conversation between Coulson and Stark seeing as he was instructed to leave Stark alone to work on the new element.

"First thing, I need a little bodywork, I'll put in a little time at the lab. If we could send one of your goon squad down to The Coffee Bean, Cross Creek, for a Starbucks run, or something like that, that'd be nice-" Stark's underestimation of Coulson was interrupted by him saying "I'm not here for that."

"I've been authorized by Director Fury to use any means necessary to keep you on premises. If you attempt to leave, or play any games, I will tase you and watch Super-nanny while you drool into the carpet. Okay?"

I felt like giving Coulson a round of applause for that beautiful speech.

I switched off the live feed as I saw Coulson leave the room and left Stark to discover his father.

I span around in my chair and thought about how fun this would be if Clint was here. That stupid hammer assignment.

A week later

I was sitting in my room hacking S.H.I.E.L.D files and looking through everybody's private information when I heard a knock at the door. I was waiting for Barton to come back. I know it had only been a week, but something in my heart ached and I couldn't figure out what it was.

I shut down the window of my laptop, walked over to the door and unlocked it to see a mud covered Clint, still in his uniform, standing in front of me.

I looked him up and down and asked him emotionlessly "What happened?".

He looked at me and said "I met Thor."

A smile crept onto his face and I couldn't tell if he was joking or not. The S.H.I.E.L.D files said nothing, but I guessed it was because the mission had not been completed.

I stepped aside and let him walk into my room. We sat down opposite each other at my coffee table and told each other about our missions. I told him about me taking down the guards at Hammer Industries and he told me about Mike Bryant, an arrogant agent that we both hate, getting flattened by a demi-god.

I looked into his bright blue eyes and realised that even though he was covered in mud from head to toe and had just got back from a mission, he had decided to come and see me first before getting de-briefed with Coulson. Why?

Okay so I know that Thor happened a few days after Iron Man 2 finished in movie time, but I felt like Coulson had to be somewhere whilst Stark went to Stark Industries to throw strawberries in the bin that were meant for Pepper. So I hoped that you liked it and I cannot wait to get onto the Avengers Tower stories, but I know that I have to build up the back story first, so I will try and make it as good as possible. Thank you and please comment! Also, I am going to do a Captain Hill story at some point after this story :) Can't wait! Next chapter is about finding Captain America and the splitting up of Blackeye for the tesseract and Russians. :)
