Hello! I posted Chapter 5 earlier about Natasha finding out that Clint was compromised. This is going to be Natasha coming back from that and then going to get Bruce Banner. I couldn't resist writing another post.

As I walked through the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier, I could see people looking up at me with sympathetic gazes, but I just walked and looked forward until I got to the door, typed in my password and entered my room.

I slid down the door, brought my legs up to my chest and held my head in my heads. I started to cry without realising that there was someone already in the room.

"Natasha" I heard someone say.

Looking up sharply with my tear stained, I saw Phil, sitting in my chair, who must have been waiting for me to return to de-brief me.

"Coulson?" I asked, actually wondering whether he was real or not as I got up and walked towards him. I didn't even know whether this was real or not.

He stood up from his chair and surprisingly wrapped his arms around me. I felt tense, but then relaxed into his hug and wrapped my arms around him as well. It was comfortable even though we had never done this before. We cared for each other when we were injured or Clint was bugging either of us. We were the closest thing to family. Me, Clint and Coulson. There wasn't really anyone else that mattered to me.

"He will be okay you know." Coulson said understanding my pain as if Clint was his son.

"I know. I just want to find him"

"And we will. You know how stubborn Clint is. He won't back down easily."

I came out of his embrace and wiped away my tears as we sat down to go through the information about the Avengers Initiative. That was the good thing about Coulson, he knew when to stop talking.

After he told me about how we were going to recruit Banner and how he was finally going to speak to Captain America, which he was quite excited about, he left me to pack.

In Kolkata, India, I was observing a girl who was scrounging for food and stealing food off of stalls in the market place.

I came up to her when she went down a deserted alleyway and said "Hyalo, apani khadya prayojana?" (Hello, do you need food?)

She looked up at me for a moment and then said "Kena apani ki amake sahayya karabe?" (Why would you help me?)

"Ami apanara sahayyera prayojana karana. Inreji?" I asked. (Because I need your help. English?)

"English" she said.

We discussed what she was going to say and the plan was put into place.

As I sat in a chair, in a house on the outskirts of the capital, my thoughts went to my partner. Banner is another step closer to finding Clint I thought. I know the Hulk isn't exactly...helpful in that mission, but Bruce Banner is. Keep him calm and your one step closer to finding your hawk. Wait, your hawk? Did you seriously just say that Natasha? He never can be yours, idiot! But what if he could be? No! Don't you dare think about that. Love is for children. Men always leave you - "Agent Romanoff do you copy?" an agent said through my earpiece sounding annoyed, because I think he had said it multiple times.

"Yes I copy."

"Banner will be at your location in 30 seconds"

Right, mind on the mission Romanoff.

I got into my position behind a curtain of the room only 10 seconds before the little girl I had met earlier came rushing through the door. She ran out of the window and Banner stopped in the middle of the room.

"Should have got paid up front, Banner." he said and I decided to make my entrance.

"You know, for a man who's supposed to be avoiding stress, you picked a hell of a place to settle." I said.

"Avoiding stress isn't the secret."

"Then what is it? Yoga?" Coulson said make conversation with him. Appear as a friend. He was smiling so I guessed my tactics were working, as usual.

"You brought me to the edge of the city, smart." he said and then glanced a look outside. "I uh...assume the whole place is surrounded?"

"Just you and me." For my lies to work, I put an element of truth into them, but he didn't look particularly convinced. It was just him and me...in the room.

"And your actress buddy, is she a spy too? They start that young?"

"I did." I said. Truth builds trust.

"Who are you?"

"Natasha Romanoff."

"Are you here to kill me, Miss Romanoff? Because that's not gonna work out for everyone."

"No. No. Of course not. I'm here on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D"

"S.H.I.E.L.D. How did they find me?"

"We never lost you, doctor. We've kept our distance," I thought in my head about Barton. He always said he sees better from a distance. "even helped keep some other interested parties off your scent." I continued.

"Why?"

"Nick Fury seems to trust you. But now we need you to come in."

"What if I say no?"

"I'll persuade you."

"And what if the...other guy says no?" I knew what the Hulk was able to do and took my next words with caution.

"You've been more than a year without an incident. I don't think you wanna break that streak." I said taking a seat in the small house.

"I don't get every time what I want."

"Doctor, we're facing a potential global catastrophe."

He laughed and said "Well, those i actively try to avoid." At least he had a sense of humour at a time like this. Him getting angry would not be a good start to this mission.

"This is the Tesseract." I said sliding my phone across the table. "It has the potential energy to wipe out the planet." He came over, put his glasses on and looked at the photo.

"What does Fury want me to do? Swallow it?" Keep calm Romanoff.

"He wants you to find it. It's been taken. It omits a gamma signature that's too weak for us to trace. There's no one that knows gamma radiation like you do. If there was, that's where I'd be." Yeah, I thought, but I'd only be there for Barton. I mentally slapped myself for that comment.

"So Fury isn't after the monster?" he asked.

"Not that he's told me."

"And he tells you everything?"

Ignoring his question, I say "Talk to Fury, he needs you on this."

"He needs me in a cage?"

"No one's gonna put you in a..."

"Stop lying to me!" he shouted, banging his fists on the table and I pulled up my gun aiming for his forehead.

What's he going to do to me? If I don't have him on board, I won't be able to find Barton? Jesus christ, I at least need Barton back beside me before I die. I don't even care if I die, just let me see Barton before I do.

"I'm sorry, that was mean." he said stepping back and looking a lot more relaxed.

"I just wanted to see what you'd do." I was tense, breathing hard and about to cry, because I need to find Barton before Hulk kills me.

"Why don't we do this the easy way, where you don't use that, and the other guy doesn't make a mess? Okay? Natasha." he said to me and I began to lower my gun, because he addressed me by my first name. Trust.

I put my hand up to my earpiece and said "Stand down. We're good here." to the other agents waiting anxiously outside.

"Just you and me?" he said and I just looked at him wondering whether I really did have his trust or not. He was a hard person to read.

"We need to leave Banner. Now" I ordered.

He looked at me. Almost analysing me in a way.

"Okay." he said simply and we made our way towards the cars in silence.

There was just the driver, me and Banner. The car was in the middle of 7 other cars. I think he expected maximum back up due to him being what he is. The vehicle was similar to that of a cab by the fact that there was glass between us and the driver and the seats were opposite each other, but of course the glass was sound proofed, the car had multiple machine guns in all kinds of places and its exterior was almost impenetrable.

I was sat opposite Banner looking out of the window and I thought about Clint. What if we don't find him in time? What if Loki has made the change permanent? What if I had to kill him?

My eyes were on the verge of dropping tears onto my face just thinking about it. Suddenly, I remembered that Banner was still in the car, so I banished that thought and blinked quickly to suck the tears back into my eyes.

I glanced over at Banner to check that he was looking in another direction. Unfortunately, he was looking straight at me.

"What?" I said keeping my Widow mask firmly on my face.

"Who is it?" he asked.

"I don't understand." Who is he talking about?

"The person that has been taken from you?" he said.

How does he get that from a couple of glances and some teary eyes. He must be good.

"He hasn't been taken from me. He has been taken from S.H.I.E.L.D." I said trying not to let any emotion leak through into my words.

"Right." he said not believing a word of it. "What is him name?"

"Clint Barton. He is my partner at S.H.I.E.L.D. Hawkeye is his codename." I said.

"I'll do my best to get him back for you." he said with such sentiment in his voice that I didn't even bother to argue that he wasn't mine.

"Thank you." I whispered and the rest of the journey was spent in silence apart from the occasional snore that came from Bruce, because he slept for the rest of the way.

I just decided to look out of the window and think about what had happened. If I slept, it was most probable that I would have nightmares, so I decided against it.

When we arrived, I quickly got changed in my room and met Fury in the corridor. He instructed me to tell Coulson to meet him on the bridge, speak to Captain America and Banner and introduce them to each other. This really was happening? I thought. What could possibly go wrong?

When I walked outside, I saw a mini-helicarrier landing. Coulson and Captain America. I bet he has talked to him awkwardly, but is waiting to ask him about his Captain America trading cards, because he doesn't want to scare him off. Actually, better warn Cap about that...just in case.

Once I told Coulson to go to the helicarrier, I was left to talk to Captain America.

He had a strong commanding presence, like the leader that Fury has been planning, but I could tell that he had another side to him. I remembered Fury saying that the serum amplifies all that is good, however, amplifies all that is bad too. I could tell that he had his own dark past.

"There was quite the buzz around here, finding you in the ice. I thought Coulson was gonna swoon. Did he ask you to sign his Captain America trading cards yet?"

"Trading cards?" he asked in disbelief.

"They're vintage, he's very proud."

Out of the corner of my eye, Doctor Banner was wondering round hopelessly like he was looking for something.

"Dr. Banner" Rogers said.

"Oh, yeah Hi." he said nervously. "They told me you'd be coming."

"Word is you can find the cube."

"Is that the only word on me?"

"Only word I care about."

"Must be strange for you, all of this." Banner said gesturing to the surroundings.

"Well, this is actually kind of familiar." Captain said looking at the agents running round with their trainer.

"Gentlemen," I interrupted. "You may wanna step inside in a minute. It's gonna get a little hard to breath."

"Is this a submarine?" Rogers asked

"Really? They want me in a submerged pressurised metal container?" Banner said.

I thought I would let them figure it out for themselves and as the helicarrier began to rise Banner commented "Oh no. This is much worse."

We walk onto the bridge and Fury talked to Banner about something to do with locating the Teseract. I was too interested in finding out about Barton and went over to the screens to bring up his profile. I just needed to see his face.

"We're sweeping every wirelessly accessible camera on the planet. Cell phones, laptops. If it's connected to a satellite, it's eyes and ears for us." Fury said.

"That's still not gonna find them in time." I said still worrying and Banner quickly shot me a sympathetic look.

"You have to narrow the field. How many spectrometers do you have access to?"

"How many are there?"

"Call every lab you know, tell them to put the spectrometers on the roof and calibrate them for gamma rays. I'll rough out a tracking algorithm based on a cluster recognition. At least we could rule out a few places. Do you have somewhere for me to work?" he asked.

"Agent Romanoff, would you show Dr. Banner to his laboratory, please." he said.

"You're gonna love it, Doc. We got all the toys." I said as I walked out of the bridge.

"We will get to him, Miss Romanoff." he said once we were out of ear shot. I liked the fact that he respected my privacy. I needed to focus on finding Loki though.

"That's not a priority right now." I said with my Black Widow mask.

"That's not their priority right now. I do believe that it is yours." he said. I never knew he could be this subtly direct.

I didn't answer him and kept walking forward to his laboratory. I can't make Clint my priority, even though I know I want to.

So I hope you liked this chapter! I will probably upload another one tomorrow knowing me, but if not Saturday, then definitely Sunday! PLEASE PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW! X Thank you! The next one is Loki and Captain fighting in Germany!
