Enjoy the battle!

Once we were suited up, me and Clint met with Captain America.

We paced towards a mini-carrier and got in. A S.H.I.E.L.D pilot was there.

"You guys aren't authorised to be in here." he said.

"Son, just don't" Captain America said before pushing past the agent and getting the equipment ready to fight.

Me and Clint went to the pilot station where he sat in the pilot seat and I sat in the co-pilot seat.

"Just like normal." he said as we got buckled up.

I turned to him and smiled. It had been a hectic couple of days, but it felt like weeks.

"It feels good to be back here." I said. We both knew that I meant it feels good to be back together. As a team. As partners. Yeah, sure we were part of the Avengers know, but it was me and him until the end.

"Everything ready?" Captain asked.

"Yes Captain." Clint said.

"Where are we headed?" I asked Steve.

"Stark Tower." he said.

Me and Clint both turned round and said together "What?"

"That's where the Tesseract is. Stark is going there now."

Once we arrived at New York, I set up a video link with Stark. We were all wearing earpieces and could now hear the conversations.

"Stark, we're on your 3 headed north east." I said to him.

"What, did you stop for drive-thru?" God, I could punch him. "Swing up park, I'm gonna lay them out for you."

I began to shoot at the aliens as Clint drove up towards Stark Tower.

"Nat" Clint said.

"I see them" I said preparing to shoot at Loki. As I began firing, he hit the left hand side of the carrier.

We went sailing towards the ground and Clint tried to keep it under control as the captain was flying everywhere barely keeping a hold of the ship.

Once we landed, well crash landed, me and Clint unbuckled and went to join the fight.

We ran towards Stark Tower and stopped in front of a huge building as something came through the portal. A huge monster firing out aliens onto walls.

Oh shit.

"Stark, are you seeing this?" Rogers asked.

"Seeing, still working on believing..." Stark said.

"Where's Banner? Has he shown up yet?"

"Banner?"

"Just keep me posted."

How would Banner show up here? He was chucked into the middle of nowhere!

Me, Cap and Clint ran to sit behind a taxi and try to figure out how we were going to deal with this.

"We've got civilians trapped in those buildings." Hawk said.

"Loki." Rogers said as he flew over our heads. "They're fish in a barrel down there." he continued and I knew that he wanted to go and help.

I shot a few aliens making our way towards us, then spoke to Cap. "We've got this. It's good. Go"

"You think you can hold them off?" he asked Clint.

"Captain, it would be my genuine pleasure." Then me and Hawkeye started shooting again.

I saw a bus knocked over with civilians trapped inside. "Clint?"

"Yeah, I'm going." he said as he ran over to the bus. I kept shooting, but I could feel his eyes on me.

I sheltered behind the car for a second to reload my guns and I saw him staring at me whilst helping families out. He looked worried for me. I realised the situation and turned back to shoot at the aliens again.

He returned back next to me once he had freed everyone and it reminded me of a mission a while back.

"Just like Budapest all over again!" I said to him.

"You and I remember Budapest very differently."

Me and him had a mission in Budapest. A simple take out the target. But they knew we were coming. We snuck into the barn, where they were, and took out all of the defence, in the same way to how we were fighting now. However, Barton got hit and lost lots of blood. He couldn't remember most of it. I had to fill him in on what had happened, but we've made a joke about it ever since. We always phrase it in that exact way. It's just one of those things that we do. Partners.

We kept fighting the alien storm. Hawkeye was shooting arrows here, there and everywhere whilst I was fighting off the chitauri with one of their weapons.

They were surrounding us pretty quickly, but Cap came rushing in to help us out with his shield.

Also, Thor came flying down to us and electrocuting some of the army.

Thor fell down by a car, but he was injured. I think Loki must have stabbed him, but he could still walk. He was a God after all.

"What's the story upstairs?" Rogers asked Thor.

"The power surrounding the cube is impenetrable." he replied.

"Thor's right. We've gotta deal with these guys." Stark chipped in.

"How do we do this?" I asked.

"As a team." Rogers said.

"I have unfinished business with Loki." Thor said.

"Yeah, get in line." Clint said. I could hear the emotion in his words. He was very angry.

"Save it. Loki's gonna keep this fight focused on us and that's what we need. Without him, these things could run wild. We got Stark up top, he's gonna need us to..." Rogers plan of attack was interrupted by the sound of a motorbike engine.

Banner. Where did he get the bike from?

"So this all seems horrible." he said.

"I've seen worse." I said referencing to the near death match between me and him earlier that day.

"Sorry."

"No, we could use a little worse." He smiled at me.

"Stark, we got him." Rogers relayed into the earpiece.

"Banner?"

"Just like you said."

"Then tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you."

Just then the monster crashed through a building with a tiny Iron Man suit flying in front of it.

"I don't see how that's a party." I said.

"Dr. Banner, now might be a really good time for you to get angry."

"That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry." Then he transformed into the Hulk and smashed his fist into its face bringing it down.

The captain shielded me, but I was worried about whether Clint got shelter.

I looked over to see him behind a taxi, safe. I breathed out.

Around us, I could hear the aliens screaming and civilians cheering.

Theirs cheers soon fell silent as more aliens came out of the portal.

"Guys." I said getting everyone's attention.

"Call it Captain." Stark said.

"Alright, listen up. Until we can close that portal up there, the priority is containment. Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash." Rogers instructed like a true leader.

"Wanna give me a lift?" Clint asked Stark.

"Right. Better clench up, Legalos." Idiot. I watched Clint go and thought you WILL see him after the battle okay!

"Thor, you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal, slow them down. You've got the lightening, light the bastards up." Then Thor flew off and Rogers turned to me.

"You and me, we stay here on the ground, keep the fighting here. And Hulk." he said turning to him.

"Smash." Hulk smiled and then went to destroying almost everything.

"Let's go" Rogers said and we began shooting at all of the aliens in sight.

My glance went up occasionally to Barton, keeping an eye on him to make sure he didn't do anything stupid like fall off the building.

Stark and Barton were telling jokes, so I guessed that they were getting on okay.

I was subconsciously fighting off the aliens, but then one nearly stabbed my in the face, so I decided to fully focus on what I was doing and stop thinking about Clint.

Wrapping my legs around it's neck, I zapped it with one of my Widow bites and shot it backwards.

I turned round, ready to aim, but saw the captain and put down my weapon.

I lent on a taxi cab bonnet and looked up at the sky.

"Captain, none of this is gonna mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal."

"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it."

"Well, maybe it's not about guns."

"You wanna get up there, you're gonna need a ride."

I looked up at the tower and then at the flying chitauri. I have an idea.

"I got a ride. I could use a boost though."

"You sure about this?" he asked preparing his shield for me to use as a trampoline.

"Yeah, it's gonna be fun." Famous last words.

I ran up to a car, jumped off the bonnet, onto Cap's shield and grabbed hold of a passing chitauri board.

Wow, that actually worked.

I climbed onto the vessel and got out my knife. I cut one of the aliens chains and pushed him overboard.

Battling against the wind, I jumped onto the driver's back and stabbed my knives into him.

"Turn, turn, turn." I shouted as I tried to gain control.

Another chitauri flew towards me, but Stark shot it down. He was actually helpful sometimes.

I made my way towards Stark Tower, but not before Loki decided to join me.

"Oh. You" I said. How was I going to get out of this. With none of the Avengers in sight, I decided to call out to the one person I knew I could rely on.

"Hawkeye."

"Nat, what are you doing?" Good, he wasn't dead yet!

"Uh, a little help here." I said. To any normal person, it would've sounded like I was trying to make a joke, but I knew he could tell I was worried.

"I got him." Those three words made me feel a lot safer.

I looked behind me as Loki caught Clint's arrow. How the hell did he-

I was cut off by the arrows exploding in his face. Nice one.

Stark Tower was closing in and I flipped off of the chitauri ship onto the roof.

I heard smashing from inside the living room of Stark Tower and I guessed that it was Hulk.

I hope that he left something left of him, because I wanted to kill him for what he did to Barton.

Looking at my surroundings, I walked towards the energy source.

"The sceptre." a voice from behind me said. Dr. Selvig.

"Doctor." I greeted him.

"Loki's sceptre, the energy...the Tesseract can't fight. You can't protect against yourself."

"It's not your fault. You didn't know what you were doing." I told him.

"Well actually I think I did. I built in a safety to cut the power source."

"Loki's sceptre."

"It may be able to close the portal. And I'm looking right at it."

"Stay here." I instructed and he didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Once I got down, I walked towards the sceptre, picked it up and made my way back to the Tesseract.

I got in position and said into the comms "I can close it! Can anybody copy? I can shut the portal down!"

"Do it!" Rogers said.

"No, wait!" Stark said.

"Stark, these things are still coming!"

"I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it."

"Stark, you know that's a one way trip."

But he ignored Rogers and started talking to Jarvis.

I stood there and watched Stark as he flew towards the tower with the missile on his back.

He made the turn and came shooting past me heading towards the portal.

Was he really going to do this? Sacrifice himself?

He went through the portal and I could hear distant cheers, but I kept silent hoping that he was okay.

I saw a flash of orange light appear through the portal and I said "Come on, Stark."

Then Rogers said "Close it."

Orders were orders. I pushed the sceptre into the Tesseract and the portal began to close. I hoped that Stark would make it.

Just before the portal closed, Stark was falling through the sky. Wait, he was falling.

I was worried until I saw Banner burst out of Stark Towers living room and go to catch him.

Thank God.

I heard them talking about shawarma when I was going down the stairs to meet them.

I met them at the entrance to the Tower and Stark said "Nice going Spidey." I shot him a death glare and I felt like it was going to become a regular nickname.

I looked round at the group, Banner included and came to a sudden realisation that hit me hard.

"Where's Barton?" I asked.

Oh my goodness! Bit of a cliffhanger! :) Will post more tomorrow, but for now au revoir! :) And yeah I didn't make a big deal out of Budapest...so what? Thanks for reading x Please review! By the way, I didn't check this, so if there are any mistakes then I am sorry!
